with meteorologist rob mayeda. >> foggy start, misty skies. 54 degrees, san jose. low clouds, 57. and in oakland, we've got 53 degrees with low clouds to start. as we head into the afternoon. today should be day one of a warmup that will begin to notice our temperatures climbing up inland. we will see high temperatures today soaring into the mid 70s, closer to san jose and closing in on 80 around livermore this afternoon. a full look at that forecast comes your way in a few minutes. rob, we're looking over here toward free month 880 southbound at the truck scales. i drove through this area. you will see no slowing there or for the rest of the bay. there was a crash reported, deadly crash. oh, my goodness, this is not the right map. deadly crash at stevens son but we don't see any activity there. when i drove through the area. we do have the right maps to give you a quick overview. the travel around the rest of the bay is fine.

finals. game one and two are in oakland next thursday and sunday. game three and four will be held in cleveland. warriors coverage continues online at nbcbayarea.com. you can download our free nbc bay area app. okay. other news, it is becoming an all too common scythe sight. former 49er ray mcdonald leaving jail. we were there when he walked out of santa clara jail. this marking mcdonald's second arrest in three days. here's a side-by-side look at both mug shots. the first is from monday, the other yesterday after he violated a restraining order. the latest legal trouble for mcdonald apparently linked to first incident that happened this week. it actually comes as mcdonald faces uncertain future after being cut by the chicago bears. >> the authorities hearsay the restraining order mcdonald violating stemming from the first arrest on monday when police say he assaulted a woman with a baby in her arms at his own apartment.

investigators say he went back to that address again and police picked him up at a nearby sandwich store. a worker says that mcdonald'd looked flustered before officers arrived. >> he had came in looking a little bit distraught, a little bit angry, upset. >> mcdonald's attorney tells nbc bay area the client was never served the restraining order. if yesterday's incident was the result of a misunderstanding. suspect the long rap sheet is behind bars after going on a wild crime spree taking hostages and eventually surrendering. today we could learn his identity. you're looking at police rushing in, guns drawn. as the man surrenders. the 35-year-old suspect stole a car in walnut creek. he then carjacked a man at a business and led police on a wild chase. officers eventually spike strips to stop him in antioch. then he ran to a nearby gas station and took two hostages but not before he terrified a few witnesses. >> he came to my car with a gun

pointing at me telling me to open the door. >> he pointed the gun at us. i started yelling get away. he turned around and tried to get into another car, another truck and then ran i side the store. >> hostage negotiators convinced the suspect to surrender. officers have yet to release his name because they say the investigation is ongoing. it is 4:37. new this morning a silicon valley company is paying big bucks to settle a water pollution case. according to the press democratic jdsu has agreed to pay $92,000 in fines to the city of santa rosa. inspection revealed the company had been disposing of type of ammonium salt in the sewer system over several years in the north bay. jdsu makes optical products and 3-d sensing devices. three years after domestic violence case rocks san francisco city hall the scandal involving sheriff is resurfacing. it's not coming from his critics but from his wife.

lopez is starring in a spanish language play she says tells her side of the story. it's titled "what's the scandal" and it starts in two weeks run tonight. mirkarimi was accuse of grabbing lopez hard enough to cause a bruise. he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor false imprisonment. lopez says the couple is stronger than ever. a stretch of a southern california beach remains closed after mysterious balls of go washing ashore. investigators are looking at the blobs found along manhattan beach. they appear to be balls of tar or oil. they're not sure at this point whether that substance is connected to last week's massive oil spill near sbar, 100 miles away. authorities say it could be naturally occurring. >> waiting to see if the sun is going to come out, warm things up. good to head to our beach snes. >> santa cruz today should climb in the mid 70s. foggy around pacifica and

valleys. staying around the coast. except santa cruz. if you want to get to the sunshine on the coast, mid 70s around santa cruz. warmer spots inland today having a chance to get close to 80. around saratoga and los galos. 74 in san jose. san francisco again mostly immune from this warm-up we're talking about. mainly for the valleys and hilltop locations over the next few days. santa rosa, 66. tri-valley spots, upper 70s around dublin and close to 80 today in livermore and pleasanton. that trend is going to continue as we go through the next few days. friday and saturday, getting into the low 80s to start the weekend. san francisco, mid 70s. as we move into the north bay, saturday and for the tri-valley, too, temperatures will climb into the low 80s, then trending cooler on sunday as we still have this weather system that's going to come in and bring us more clouds towards the end of saturday. weekend looks still warm to start. upper level system will track up towards the coastline as we head

through sunday afternoon. maybe enough left to it that we could see a few showers in the north bay. as it moves on through, it's going to bring a renewed push of this ocean air conditioning. notice the temperatures here as we finish the weekend around san jose, now dropping into the mid 70s back down to 72 degrees next month. so temperatures going on a bit of a roller coaster ride. livermore, the same trend. you will notice mid 80s on saturday. diving back down as the sea breeze turns stronger. monday, high, early next week in the tri-valley, back in the low 70s. back to you. >> we are prepared for the ups and doups, rob. this woman though had no idea what she was in for when she reached into a bag of grapes and got attacked by the most venomous spider on the continent. vermont woman spent the night in the hospital and is going to have to be monitored for months after she was bitten by a black widow. her family says that as she reached into that bag of grapes the spider crawled up her arm and bit her. the grapes came from a local vermont grocery store. the store is now investigating. and the venomous bite of a black

welcome back. good morning, san francisco. kind of an ominous site out there this morning, isn't it? apple says it's working on a fix to a text message that actually has the power to crash your iphone. want to listen up for this one. the message is made up of two english words followed by arabic and japanese characters. if someone sends it to you through imessage it will shut down your device. right now the glitch seems to be more of a nuisance than anything else. if you get the infected message you're to send a text or photo to the person who sent it to you and then you can erase the conversation. so don't be afraid to write back. you should to try to delete it.
