forecast. it doesn't look warm now but you say warmth is on the way. >> it is going to be warm, if you're celebrating a birthday, like kira klapper did yesterday. >> thank you, yesterday. >> we had to let the cat out of the bag. >> do i look a year and a day older? >> yes, you do. >> thank you for noticing. >> you never tell a woman she looks older, right? you know, you never look old. clouds are actually going to linger at the coastline. if you're heading to the coastline, kira, jacket. you're going to need it. widespread 70s for our inland valleys. sunday night into monday, we have showers in the forecast. especially for san francisco and the north bay. right now, cloudy skies. little bit of drizzle. and that's kind of an appetizer for what we'll see tomorrow evening. tomorrow night starting the next workweek we'll see some showers. it will be a nice day. 70s dracross the bay today.

>> great. we look forward to the day. than thanks, anthony. >> yeah. speaking of something else to look forward to, there are five days to go before the nba finals and warriors are waiting to hear when clay thompson, injured with a concussion, will be able to play again. we got some insight from giants star brian belt, who missed 40 days when he had a concussion. >> reporter: orange friday took on a tinge of royal blue with the appearance of seth curry. the mere sight not only brought fans to their feet but provided reassurance that at least one of their veteran players is okay. >> we're all fine. everybody has bumps and bruises in the playoffs you have to deal with. obviously, you don't want to see guys get concussions like clay or crazy falls like i had. we'll all be fine when game time comes around and four more wins and we can all celebrate.

>> reporter: his teammate, clay thompson, suffer aid concussion wednesday and remains unable to practice. is he now questionable for the nba finals. >> i think he can be fine. >> thompson will have a much-needed week to recover before the nba final start. >> that means rest from talking on his cell phone, texting, turning off the lights and getting sleep and really trying to calm the brain down in a way that he will recover in a short period of time. >> healing from a concussion can be a slow and agonizing process as brandon belt knows all too well. he missed 46 games last season after getting hit in the cheek by a baseball during batting practice. >> just keep pushing through, pushing through. sometimes it takes a while. sometimes it doesn't take that long. hopefully in his case it won't

take too long. he'll get back out there and playing. as you saw, it was a double date for seth curry and his parents at at&t park. >> we were celebrating a great time. and the bay area is kind of sports and supporting the giants. we have a little break in between series so we can kind of get out and enjoy watching them play and getting ready for the finals. it's a good time to be a sports fan in the bay area. >> well, yeah, because of him. decked out in giants' gear, he and his family sat with team owner. when they showed the curry family on the jumbo tron, they started chanting mvp. he also met with giants legend willie mays before the game. we have our nbc bay area app, facebook and twitter up-to-date

with the latest. a man was pin bid a car in san jose last night. we have cell phone video of the accident near first and sant camera -- santa clara streets. he hit two women and trapped the man. the man is expected to survive. police say the driver is cooperative. it's not clear if he will face charges. a 12-hour police standoff in newark ended peacefully. a man barricaded himself inside his home with his toddler and surrendered about 10:00 last night. police first surrounded the home yesterday morning and put the neighborhood on lockdown. rudy soto was wanted for several domestic violence altercations. he was under arrest. the baby was not hurt. a bay area man killed in southern california and a young woman is in jail now, facing murder charges. friends tell us this victim is 39-year-old zachary byuvie.

he was riding his motorcycle when he and a driver gom got into some sort of altercation. they ran him in the back of the bike and then ran him over. >> they take a military person like this out of sight because of someone's anger issues. a very sad loss of life. >> the 26-year-old southern california woman is being held without bail. she'll be in court early next week. new details this morning in the robbery of a handicapped woman on muni in san francisco. we have surveillance video from the bus. it happened near van nuys and san francisco. the man in the black sweater positioned himself over the woman in a wheelchair. he pretended to fall over her and dropped his jacket on her lap. under the jacket, he snatched her wallet. police think the man targets

older, disabled people and they're asking anyone who recognizes him in this photo to please come forward. he used the victim's credit card within minutes of getting off the bus. new this morning a powerful earthquake hits the coast of japan, 7.8 trembler struck about 4:30 pacific time overnight. usgs says currently there are no reports of injuries or damages and the quake did not trigger a tsunami. this is reportedly the second quake in tokyo this week. now to a movie about the big one. the movie "san andreas" debuted last night. screening of the movie as well as a chance to ask emergency responders what to do when a real quake strikes. >> get a communications plan. because you want to be able to find your family. one thing that the movie gets right is that we are really concerned about our families in an earthquake if we're

welcome back. this is at&t park. the fog should be lifted by the time the giants play. a dog flu has killed several dogs and sickened thousands more across the country. now the fear is that it could spread here. today in the bay's peggy bunker has warning signs for every dog owner. >> reporter: canine flu has arrived in california, spreads like wildfire between dogs especially at the one place dogs live for, the dog park. >> hello to a dog that looks like it's sneezing or drooly. those most likely to get dog flu those that go to doggy daycare or kennels. >> not too concerned. we keep this place very clean. we clean all the runs in the morning and all the other surfaces in the evening.

>> reporter: vets say canine flu spreads fast. >> it can be very contagious and affect lots of animals in a very large population. >> reporter: unlike kennel cough, the flu can cause pneumonia. which means owners should not wait if they notice their dog is lethargic or not eating. peggy bunker, nbc bay area news. >> vets say it's best to avoid dog parks and kennels at this time. don't allow your pet to share chew toys with other dogs and don't let your dog drink from public water bowls. as of right now there's no vaccine available for this particular strain of canine flu. much more ahead on "today in the bay." coming up, search for the bay area woman who unknowingly gave away a silicon valley treasure. and this morning we're waking up to cloud cover across the north bay through san francisco, east bay and the south bay as well. we will see some sunshine today. we have showers on the way to round out the weekend. we'll talk about that coming up after this.

welcome back. it's 7:15 on this saturday morning. this is what it looks like pretty much across the bay area right now. most of the bay area will see a sunny afternoon today. it sounds like it's right out of the ato hit show silicon valley. a bay area woman cleaned out her garage and found a computer belonging to her late husband. she gave it away as unwanted junk, not knowing just how valuable it was. now she's owed a lot of money. six figures. but no one can find her. here is "today in the bay's" ian cull. >> recycling company when an older woman -- >> dropped off a couple of boxes like that. >> reporter: gave them unwanted junk, or so she thought. >> brought it here. put it on the pallet.

>> reporter: she didn't want a tax receipt or leave her contact information. the company vice president didn't know what they had until weeks later when they dug through those boxes. >> we couldn't believe our eyes. we thought it's fake. it was real. >> reporter: what they found inside that box was an apple 1 computer similar to this one. there are maybe only a couple hundred of them in the world and they are extremely valuable. >> the first computer that steve jobs and steve woz knasniacki created. >> back to the original owner, xon common for computer parts and microchips. for this rare item they fetched $200,000 in a private auction. >> not every day somebody brings you $100,000. >> they know what she looks like but don't know her name.

nothing. >> it will make the ground a little wet. it's going to put off that fire season. even just last weekend, we had two brush fires back-to-back saturday and another one on sunday. our temperatures last weekend were only in the 60s. with the warmer weekend coming our way this weekend and definitely dry conditions across the bay, definitely want to be on guard. make the defensible space now while we have some time. cloudy skies for the most part t will stay chilly at the coastline. however, wine country, completely different story. 77 there. east bay, 73. the tri-develop will be close to 80 today. peninsula will be at 75. the south bay looking at plenty of sunshine up to 78 degrees. a ball game is happening this evening, rays versus the giants this evening right here at 7:00 in san francisco. it will be breezy today at the coastline with wins up to 20 miles per hour. what we have happening at the surface, our winds are beginning to shift offshore the past couple of days.

we've been warm in our inland valleys. now we have a southerly wind that's still a warm wind t brings in that warm air from southern california. but we also have a very strong upper level jet over the bay area. you can see that. it's pulling in very strong west-east winds. that's why we have that marine layer that will stay put at the coastline today. it won't be the warmest of beach days. you know me. i always like to make the case for the beach. 64 for pacifica today. half moon bay, little warmer there. more sunshine as well. 68 degrees. the place we'll see the most sunshine today because of that southerly wind, santa cruz up to 75 degrees. not all is lost. still will be warm at santa cruz. that fog will stay in place. you'll notice as we show you the future cast. fog right up against san francisco all day long. if you're heading to golden gate bridge, bring a jacket. it will be chilly there, and foggy. tomorrow we'll start off foggy again with cloud cover. tomorrow that transition day. temperature also come down just

a little bit. it will stay dry. that storm system will be just off the coastline tomorrow night. and that will bring showers as we head toward monday. there it is. it's a southern storm system making an unusual path. that's why we're only expecting a few showers. watch as it moves through. a lot of the main bulk of rain will stay north of us. we'll get clipped by the cold front. that will move through sunday night into monday morning. monday morning, heads up. you are expecting to see slick roads for your morning commute. most that have will be concentrated from san francisco to points north. inland valley trend, 70s the next few days. 80s today, cooler tomorrow, monday, tuesday, even into wednesday. temperatures remain the same. at the coastline you'll notice the biggest difference because today you'll see sunshine, temperatures in the 60s. tomorrow you'll get a little bit cooler. not by much. more cloud cover and showers will move in for sunday night into monday. we'll just kind of stay the same as we head toward this upcoming week. best news, yes, storm system,

proud. >> why she went all the way to earning her gold award in girl scouts and, as you'll see in this bay area proud, beyond. >> good job, guys. >> you don't spend years volunteering at the humane society if you don't love animals. >> goodness. >> in fact, a perfect day for rachel blackmon would probably include plenty of puppy play. >> oh, my goodness. >> though this story hinges on one day with animals that rachel says wasn't perfect and how she responded to it. >> i was not like satisfied with how it had worked. so i was like very determined to tweak it and make it work because it was going to work. >> rachel, you see, has been in girl scouts most of her life. she wanted to finish her career with a gold award, the scout's highest honor. to do that, she had to pull off a project that would benefit others. well, turns out who rachel

wanted to benefit were kids like her 16-year-old cousin, joey, living with autism. >> i love being with him. it's awesome. >> tire, jump, tunnel. >> after months of planning, rachel came up with her idea, combining of love of her cousin with the love of animals. >> give you this. >> a course. >> ready to walk back? >> teaching children with autism to lead therapy dogs through agility courses. her very first class, though, wasn't a home run. >> i had planned out what i wanted to do, but then, you k w know, you get there. you see the kids and you're like maybe that's not going to work. >> isabel. >> isabelle, sit down. >> jumping for joy is still going strong, even after she has her gold award, even after she could have quit and gone off to college, rachel is still at it.

us. >> i'll break it on down for. >> you break it on down, please. take it away. >> you were right. we are seeing some fog and cloud cover this morning. in fact, this is in san francisco. that marine layer is thick. it rolled in overnight. cloud cover across the entire bay this morning. by this afternoon, as you mentioned, we'll see sunshine. temperature in the 70s for most of us. a few of us will see 80s. a few of us will see 60s at the coastline. it will be a dry day. same deal for tomorrow. tomorrow night, we are expecting some showers to arrive mostly from san francisco and the north bay. everyone else, i think, will stay dry. you'll notice as you step outside once again, gray skies. we'll see sunshine. it will be limited at the coastline. mostly sunny for the east bay, same for the south bay and north bay. temperatures right where they should be this time of year, mid to upper 70s. cooler day on the way for tomorrow and we'll detail showers in my next report. >> can't wait to hear about that. anthony, thanks. silicon valley workers have a big complaint. they say their paychecks have

been stolen and their benefits denied. now these cheated employees are trying to fight back. our business and tech reporter scott budman has more. in a city made famous for paying high-tech employees and making the valley famous, people tell the story of how their benefits were stolen by their employers or denied in the first place zblie tried to eat a sandwich, tried to take a break i was told to get back to work. >> people don't want to speak up and lose their job zblrs some are willing to speak up. concepcion said she worked many 15-hour days with no overtime, breaks or lunch. she and others are asking city and county officials to back what's being called the fair day's pay act to better enforce wage laws currently on the books. they say they're being unfairly

bolstering san jose's police and fire department. they'll send more than $6 million. a strange in street lighting, investigating in energy-saving l.e.d. lights. san francisco man convicted of creating the world's largest illegal drug website known as silk road sentenced to life in prison. 31-year-old russ olbrich pled for the minimum sentence of just 20 years. the judge showed no mercy. during sentencing, six people were cited who overdosed and died after buying drugs on this website. he also tried to have five people who were a threat to his business killed, apparently. national security portion of the patriot act will expire unless congress can pass a bill. the house has passed a more

reformed version to ease concerns about big brother. it would allow phone companies to collect and store phone records but the feds would need a warrant to see it. the bill got overwhelming bipartisan support in the house. >> heaven forbid we got a problem where we could have prevented a terrorist attack or apprehended someone who was engaged in dangerous activity but didn't do so simply because of inaction in the senate. >> republican presidential candidate senator rand paul is trying to block the bill. the senate will convene tomorrow for one last-ditch attempt. some of california's most popular beaches are now open to the public. coast guard shut down seven miles of coastline for a few days after clumps of goo washed ashore. crews say they've collected 40 cubic yards of debris. officials are trying to figure

out where the tar balls came from and if they're linked to the santa barbara oil spill. some people say the cleanup put a real damper on their plans. >> well, let's hope that they find out very quickly, life at the beach is life of most of the people here in southern california. >> wanted to go in the water and see what it felt like. >> hermosa and rodondo beach were among those closed. sepp blatter arrived at fifa headquarter this is morning and will host a meeting with the executive committee today. he is also expected to talk to the media. world soccer organization was rocked by the scandal earlier this week when swiss officials raided a hotel and arrested several fifa executives. blatter has led fifa for nearly 20 years.

cloudy skies over oracle arena. quiet right now as warriors in the bay area await game one of the nba finals versus the cavaliers on thursday. five days until show time. but the warriors hit a major bump in the road as we told you earlier in this newscast. all-star klay thompson officially diagnosed with a concussion. we have the play on wednesday when he took a knee to his head. no timetable to his return and he will not be able to play until he is symptom free.

let's get you outside and show you what we're looking at. in the 50s for the most part. we will see sunshine this afternoon. this is where temperatures will spread out this afternoon. 64 degrees for san francisco

later on. meanwhile north bay close to 80 degrees. across the bay, 70 for the east bay. 75 for the peninsula today and the south bay. temperatures close to 80 degrees. warm spot will be the tri-valley. that's where we're expecting a few low 80s today. a very strong upper level jet in place this morning. that's where we have a strong marine layer. thick this morning, up to 2,000 feet. you'll notice as we turn on the surface winds, coming down just a little bit, you'll notice winds are out of the southwest. that's a warm wind, especially for our inland valleys today. warm air will be pumped in from southern california. that's where we are expecting a few 80s for the tri-valley. put the futurecast into motion. you'll find cloud cover and fog will stay put at the coastline today, san francisco, point reyes, not expecting to see sunshine today. it will come very limited. as we head to our inland valleys, plenty of sunshine tomorrow afternoon. temperatures a little cooler tomorrow because a storm system will make its approach.

that's expected to bring some rain as early as sunday night into monday. look at this. we have a hurricane. our first hurricane of the pacific season has formed. hurricane andres. that will continue to make its way out of open water. of course, not really impacting us in the bay area. if you're doing any traveling, perhaps down toward cabos, you will feel effects of this, large er bands kicking up the waves. we're not expecting to see ramifications for this or any impacts in the bay area. this will start to weaken back to a tropical storm. nonetheless the tropical season is under way. another system will make its way here sunday night into monday. it's a southern storm. it will come in from the south. that's where we'll have our winds from today and tomorrow. look how much moisture it has to work with. limited amounts. most of the heavy rain will stay up toward northern california. i do think you'll get a little bit of light shower activity for san francisco and points north toward sunday night into monday. if you're going to be doing any

traveling for that monday morning commute over the goldn gate bridge expect to have to use those windshield wipers. else war, dry and sunny next few days. san jose, temperatures in the 70s each and every afternoon. today will be the warmest of those days. same for the tri-valley. few 80s for today, back into the 70s for tomorrow with dry conditions. san francisco and points north expecting to see sunshine today. it will be limited. by tomorrow we'll notice the cloud cover increase. showers expected to start off monday morning, move out of here by monday afternoon. the temperature trend stays uniform for our coastline and inland valleys. no big fluctuations in our temperatures. of course, we are in our fire season now. you definitely want to make sure with 70s and 80s in the forecast for today. last weekend, kira, we had two brush fires in san jose. just something to be aware of. >> yeah, definitely. >> back to you. >> anthony, thanks. much more ahead on "today in the bay."

what we found about the court system caught the interest of leaders in washington, d.c. good morning, i'm mike inouye. there's a lot to do in the bay. we're ending may but we're continuing with the japantown film fest, during the celebration of the 125th anniversary of japan town san jose, docudrama, art and comedy. they run the gamut, these films. i have a lot of personal history with japantown san jose. not 125 years. art and wine festival, 34 years. in fact, with very humble beginnings, organizers say it's one of the east bay's greatest outdoor festivals. what else would the organizers say? numbers don't lie. it attracts over 100,000 visitors yearly for this event. wine, hand crafted booze along with expected entertainment at heather farm park.

i think it's more park than farm really. no farm either in oakland. you can still check out the chicks. i mean on the tour de cluck, 15-mile bike tour through the city of oakland. right over the show get yourself over to davis park for the 9:00 am meet. the folks at capital quarter have partnered with them. consider riding the rails or, of course, your bike. come monday morning, no need to chicken out on your drive. i'll be crowing about your commute and letting you know what to avoid, like those bad jokes right here on "today in the bay."

cloudy morning here and across the bay area. it should be a sunny afternoon. warm inland and cool at the coast. immigration courts all over america including here in san francisco are overwhelmed seeing record numbers of people caught at the u.s. border, trying to get their case heard by a judge. this morning, we hear from the man in charge of the entire immigration court system. steven stock sat down with the director at his office outside washington, d.c. >> far from the border where, in the last 20 months tens of thousands of men, women and

children have fled violence in their home countries of guatemala, honduras and el salvador. the fate refs with attorneys in this office, nondescript build nth suburbs of washington, d.c. it's the executive office for immigration review or eoir. >> we have 40 some judges responsible for making those important life and death decisions. >> juan ozuna serves as director of the eoir. >> immigration court system is under incredible stress right now. >> latest figures more than 300,000 cases were received in u.s. immigration courts in 2014 alone. according to syracuse university's track system, there is now a back log of almost half a million people in this court system. >> would you agree that the system is broken? >> i would.
