talked to a third individual. are there any other suspects being sought or are you satisfied now that you've talked to or have in custody everyone connected with this plot? >> i believe we have everyone connected with this plot. you know we're still working with the fbi, the joint terrorism task force just to make sure we tie up any loose ends on this. but as you can tell this was a very real -- it was very dangerous and when it unfolded on tuesday morning, not only the police officers were saved but who knows where this could have went otherwise also. >> but there have been reports that pamela geller this anti-islam activist was a target initially of this suspect, usaama rahim. how serious did you take that? do you think that he was far along in being able to pull something like that off or was it something more along the lines of wishful thinking?
7:06 am
>> i think it was more along the lines of wishful thinking. you know but, you know, we had 24/7 surveillance on him and we were monitoring all potential targets. there was some mention of that name, but, you know, we were focused locally here. he had local roots so our concern was what he could do here especially here in the city of boston. >> in the early hours after the shooting of this suspect, there was a claim believed by his brother that he was shot in the back by police officers and that i was what on the phone at the time. you took the unusual step of showing surveillance video of the incident to community leaders. why was that important to you and do you feel you've put this issue to rest? >> yeah it was important. you know, four weeks ago we had one of our officers who was an iraq vet shot in a police shooting. our officers had to take the life of the shooter and there was a bit of an uproar after that. you know, at that time, we had community leaders in.
7:07 am
we showed them the video and you know with all of the unrest around the country regarding police-involved shootings we thought it was important to show that video. and i made a commitment to the community that we would do that all our cases. that's why yesterday we had all of the community, the islamic leaders from all religions, community, naacp and we showed the video of what took place on tuesday morning. you know, clearly it shows our officers walking up to this individual with no guns and then within seconds retreating. five policemen back tracking, back tracking and witnesses and and -- in their accounts asking this and demanding him to drop his weapon drop his weapon and left them no choice. as we found out yesterday in the affidavit, you know, he was on a mission. he was out to get someone in blue so it's easy to understand now why he didn't put down that
