>> good morning. we start out with low clouds across parts of the bay and kind of cool as you walk out the door we're in the mid 50s for most of the bay area, upper 50s for the south bay and the peninsula now at 58 degrees. today's forecast brings it up into the mid 70s for most of the bay, even hitting the lower 80s for the south bay. peninsula today 75 degrees and 65 degrees for san francisco. a bit breezy as we get some sunshine, north bay today reaching into the upper 70s. so a great way to start out the week but it looks like we stay dry for the next few face unfortunately. i'll talk more about that and i'll let you know about this major heatup headed our way, it's coming up in the full microclimate forecast. we'll take you over here towards some of those low clouds karis was talking about. we can make out through this haze here the bay bridge and a smooth drive between oakland and san francisco. the aro points to the city itself and that's where we do have a crash still going on there and it may be affecting the off ramp at 10th off of 101

have to. download our nbc bay area app, we're constantly updating our coverage there as well as on facebook, twitter and instagram. some harder news now. a san francisco police officer says that he was forced to open fire after a dog suddenly went on the attack, biting him several times. yesterday evening police received a 911 call from a home on observing dale avenue in the city's bay view neighborhood. officers say as they approached the house a dog attacked an officer, that officer shot and killed the dog to stop the attack, the officer was hospitalized with multiple bites. police have not said what prompted the 911 call. >> the man accused of sexually assaulting a san jose girl in her own home is set to enter a lae in court. this is surveillance video of last month's brazen attack. police say this man followed the 13-year-old home, forced his way inside and then attacked her. he is also accused of trying to sexually assault a woman in a grocery store bathroom back in april. sources tell nbc that he

confessed to both crimes, but the da has not confirmed that. >> right now foster city police are investigating an attempted murder suicide happening on saturday night just a few blocks south of brewer island. police and firefighters responded to an emergency medical call and found an elderly woman dead and an elderly man bleeding. investigators say it appears the man killed the woman then stabbed himself several times. that man is being treated at the hospital right now and it is not clear what led up to the killing. we're also learning new details about a kidnapping in sunnyvale, the 18 month old victim spent the night in the hospital and reportedly is doing just fine. here is video of his mother's arrest in newark saturday night after allegedly taking that toddler without permission earlier in the day. 20-year-old christina rodriguez does not have custody of the boy. investigators say she didn't know he was on medication that needed to be taken twice a day. a popular ride at great america theme park remains closed while authorities investigate an accident that

left an employee in critical condition. it happened the flight deck roller coaster friday afternoon. investigators say an employee reached down to pick up a cell phone someone had dropped on the tracks and was hit by a heavy steel train. the guest also suffered a hand injury. investigators say it does not appear the ride malfunctioned. demolition starts later today, a bridge damaged by a quake in napa last month is coming down now. you can see the damage in this video, cracks on the oakville cross bridge, it's been shut down since it was damaged in may's 4.1 quake centered in yountville. there was also a plan in place to demolish that bridge but the quake basically sped up the timeline. at first the project was expected to take more than two years, now the goal is to have a new bridge open by new year's day. the nation's two most prominent democrats are going to be in the bay area this week, hillary clinton and president obama are visiting in search of campaign cash. on friday the president is going

to host 20 business leaders at a high priced tech-related round table at uber investor's house. that night the president will attend a $10,000 per person event at hedge fund mogul tom stires's home. the president and mrs. clinton are not actually going to cross paths. those on the republican side are gearing up for a formal announcement today from a candidate long considered likely to jump in the race. after exploring a presidential run for months florida governor jeb bush is going to officially announce his campaign at an event this afternoon. bush's team just rolled out this in you video with the official logo. >> my core beliefs start with the premise that the most vulnerable in our society should be at the front of the line, not the back. mr. bush enters a crowded field of gop challengers that already includes ten candidates and counting.

>> let see how many come into the race as well. hey, the temperatures are is set to -- they're going to heat up. >> we're counting those temps meteorologist kari hall, good morning. >> good morning. yesterday was just beautiful outside and also very comfortable. we can expect more of the same this afternoon but it will be heating up as we go through the week so enjoy. it is now 54 degrees in san francisco. in the south bay it is 57 degrees and 58 degrees for the peninsula. east bay now at 56 degrees and the wind now coming in from the northwest, it will start to pick up as we go through the day so no strong on-shore flow that really helps to cool things off, but it will be a warm day, especially in spots like the tri-valley and most of our inland areas. here is a look at the wind forecast, we can see those wind arrows bring in an on-shore flow later on this evening to help cool things off. the next 24 hours stays mostly clear during the afternoon but of course we started out with some fog and drizzle this 340r7k. let's see how that impact your commute. let's check in with mike we're watching that to see

(adlib) cleanin cleaningy. and we're watching the skies for you, at least meteorologist kari hall is as we take a live look outside from the south bay this morning, a nice start to our day, 4:43 right now. two teens lost their left arms in separate shark attacks in north carolina. both attacks happened sunday off oak island. a 13-year-old girl lost part of her arm and was also injured in the leg. about an hour later a 16-year-old boy was bitten, also losing an arm. both were airlifted to a hospital and now recovering following surgery u.s. military launched and air strike against a senior al qaeda mitt tant. the pentagon says he was responsible for a series of attacks in algeria in 2013 which killed 38 people killing three americans. libya's government released a statement saying mokhtar belmokhtar was killed in the attack. the pentagon says it's still assess something the results of
