where puig has played so little a part in what's going on. usually he gets on base and makes things happen. tonight a quiet night for puig. usual 0 for 4. joc pederson had a double in the third. he also started a two run rally. took away a couple runs when he robbed blanco with the play of the night, spectacular diving catch. a couple of men on. yet giants lead 9-3 any way. >> mike: change-up. i think george kontos this year has had the play of his life. look at pederson who robbed blanco of extra bases and probably a couple rbis. they had him playing on the left center field side of center field.
10:01 pm
he had to come away from the intended defense to make that play. >> jon: changeup from kontos. 2-1. >> mike: kontos came up with more looks, more types of movement, more pitches he could throw. he's not throwing a predictable curveball or slider which he was predictable to. did you feel the breeze? >> jon: i did. the earth shook. 2-2. all this while duffy has been over at short stop. dodgers down by six runs. some of their biggest hitters coming up. chance to get bunt hit to third base. 2-2 the count. that is hit well. blanco on the warning track. in front of the 375 marker. two down. >> mike: just a little bit out
10:02 pm
on the end. gives you an idea of his power. doesn't have to hit it well to get to the wall. >> jon: two down nobody on. justin turner comes up. good to have the base hit with nobody on. he wears the giants out in this ball park in particular. tonight hit by a pitch and had two doubles. one rbi. they have not gotten him out. strike one. >> mike: i can't remember this guy having a bad at bat ever. took bumgarner deep twice in one game. >> jon: right here at dodgers stadium last september. in the dirt. >> mike: you've gota5 to put that on your resume, don't you?
10:03 pm
>> jon: bumgarner ended up losing that game here. that was his five regular season start. then the post season nothing ever close to that happened again. 2-1. about the worst thing that happened to bumgarner in the whole post season was a wild throw he made fielding a bunt trying to get the lead runner at third. otherwise everything went well for him in the post season. >> mike: pretty much went his way. >> jon: so well it was one of the greatest post season performances put together many the history of the game. going back still going back. that ball is gone. third hit of the night for justin turner. it is 9-4 giants.
10:04 pm
>> mike: two doubles and a home run. this is home run number seven. i don't think i've seen him have a bad at bat. raised here in southern california. he got in the dodger uniform last year. he was sensational. he's picked up right where he left off last year this season. >> jon: his seventh home run. turner went to college. cal state fullerton? before that when he was a kid he was the bat boy at cal state fullerton. giants into the over shift for gonzalez 1 for 3 with a run
10:05 pm
batted in. cutter in the count 1-1. i'm sure kontos is not happy about that. >> mike: when you've got a big lead nobody on base you can risk an occasional big fly with nobody on. you can be aggressive, throw strikes, get ahead of hitters. doesn't matter what pitch is out there or what they're throwing, seems liker is going to hit it. >> mike: that's the thing that you see with him. you don't see him get off the back leg. he's gotú kick. for guys that have that much movement in their front leg as they gather on their back side
10:06 pm
those are guys you can fool. those are are guys you can get off their back leg and get them reaching with off speed stuff. with turner he never seems to get out of balance with the swing. >> jon: 2-2 the count. struck him out. ninth inning upcoming. buster posey, belt crawford. 9-4 giants lead the dodgers.
10:08 pm

10:12 pm
>> mike: giants miss the two aces. i don't remember that happening ever. >> jon: can kershaw always faces the giants. six series a year that's where it is. he's going to face them six times. giants beat him three times already this year. bumgarner was the opponent in all three of those. that is not to say that kershaw personally got the loss in all three of them. giants won all three of those games in can which he started. kershaw was unbeatable last year. he was 21-3. this year 5-4. 3-2 now to belt. they said kershaw was not happy with himself after his most
10:13 pm
recent start against texas. they put four on the board against him. he was extremely frustrated. that's all for belt. third time he has struck out in this game. 11th strikeout overall for dodger pitching. >> mike: you get great pitching like kershaw, strikeout guys. leading the league in strikeouts again. they have the ability to put hitters away. then they get into slumps their kill pitch gets lazy. they can't finish guys off. can't finish the inning. that frustrates great pitchers. they get upset with themselves. >> jon: crawford now. two rbis in the game. rbi double in the sixth and bases loaded walk in the
10:14 pm
seventh. 42 rbis for the year. >> mike: pitchers never get upset at defense. they feel they can take care of business and finish people out. a lot of movement on that 95 miles per hour fastball. one ball one strike. >> jon: kershaw is 5 and 4. he's frustrated. first year i broadcasted oakland, they had a hall of fame pitcher who was 8 and 8 one point that year and maybe frustrated himself. he finished the year 25 and 12. went 17 and 4 the rest of the year. >> mike: never see that again. >> jon: worked every fourth dayé >> mike: you'll never see another pitcher pitch 300 innings ever again. >> jon: blue was on that staff
