rayburger. several explosions struck the afghan parliament early this morning. the attacks were confirmed including heavy exchanges of gunfire in and around the compound. nbc news will have more news as one packed with explosives at the parliament gate. six were shot dead by security forces. the taliban is claiming responsibility for the latest attack in kabul. david sweat and richard matt have been on the run for over two weeks but now fresh reports of possible sightings. in owl's head and mountain view nbc news has learned that state troopers are investigating a break-in at a hunting cabin in mountain view. a vermont tactical unit specializing in hostage situations has been brought in. here is nbc's john yang. >> reporter: official believe they may be closer to a capture. last weekend two possible

sightings in a nearby county. >> they could easily walk through some of the back roads that lead straight into pennsylvania from there. >> reporter: it's been 16 days since the convicts daring escape from the maximum security prison. civilian prison worker joyce mitchell has been charged with providing them some of the tools they used to cut through walls and pipes. authorities tell nbc news that the investigation of prison workers is expand inging with several guards now under investigation. one of them, gene palmer is on administrative leave. clinton county district attorney andrew wily spoke to nbc affiliate wptz. >> he also has a potential charge of facilitating the escape and also promoting prison contraband. >> reporter: palmer's attorney says he is cooperating. meanwhile matt and sweat have been added to the u.s. marshal's most wanted list as authorities exhaust every lead. >> we will look under every rock until we know that the convicts

it looks like our wild fire season finally kicked in. up until this point they actually were kind of tame. that's changing in a hurry, especially in alaska. as far as the radar goes this morning, severe storms. they've been racing across south dakota. it's been moving at 75 miles per hour. sioux falls had an 85 miles per hour wind gust. it's like the equivalent of a weak torpid and now roaring towardly ly lecross and waterloo iowa. after that line is done we'll get another round of thunderstorms. we have a large area of the great lakes enhanced risk. there could be a few tornados. if we get tornados most likely southern wisconsin, possibly there in the great lakes and the line of stomps will race all the way to the east coast. we have the severe weather out there. possibility of tornados today, and then the heat. the two corners continue to be the worse.
