period. if you have the day off and get outside and enjoy, do it early. if you like the heat you're in for a treat. it's going to be hot. especially inland temperatures in the 80s and 90s. you know what kris livermore, for instance was at 100 degrees, today closer to 90. it's all relative, that's what we're talking about. temperatures, 50s and 60s for the most part. gray skies at the coastline. later this afternoon, sun is going to come out near 70 in san francisco, near 80 in the north bay. same for the east bay but tri-valley close to 90. south bay temperatures in the 80s. a cooldown period. monday and tuesday, triple digit heat. we're well into fire season now. this could really be detrimental for us as we head to next week. >> i know you'll talk more about the fire danger as well. we'll hear from you in a little bit. thanks anthony. meanwhile san francisco and the nation celebrating the ruling that made same-sex marriage legal in all states.

that comes as pride celebrations beginning. there was a celebration in castro district where the street was shut down for several hours as many people rejoiced in the freedom to love and say i do. >> great, probably one of the best days of my life if not the best. 29 years ago when we started, i never thought we would have a day like this. >> all of this weekend's planned pride events are expected to be a little bigger than usual as people celebrate the historic ruling. here are the details of that supreme court ruling. it was a narrow vote with justices approving same-sex marriage by a 5 to 4 margin. it forces the 14 states that had not yet legalized gay marriage to allow them and to recognize the union performed in other states. now, before yesterday's decision, california was already among the many states that had already legalized gay marriage. the u.s. is now the 21st country in the world to recognize same

sex unions. the celebration spilled into at&t park for the annual lgtb pride night at the giants' game. it was already planned as part of the pride weekend. there were special tickets, parties and the kiss cam featured same-sex couples and folks were allowed to wear rainbows instead of giant orange but just for one day. a rally at city hall celebrating yesterday's ruling as well. that's where the mayor and councilmembers joined together with many in the south bay to enjoy the news. >> just really happy, excited to be here with our community. the fact we can all recognize each other. the term gay marriage is finally retired. it's just marriage. it's equal. it's for everyone. this is really a fantastic day. >> mayor said the supreme court delivered on a long over due

obligation. mayor newsome was considered a renegade defied the law and issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples. >> do what you think is right. i can't tell you. that's not a cliche. literally, do what's right. when we did it same folks calling saying what the hell did you just do. >> great sense of pride for him and emotion for who is now lieutenant governor. newsome went on to say you don't belong in elected office if you don't have the courage of your conviction. that was the scene outside the supreme court moments after that ruling came down. people were cheering dancing and hugging as that news was delivered. president obama praised the decision saying quote, made our union a little more perfect. >> and then sometimes there are days like this when that slow

2:30 this morning in downtown san jose. police say a man was shot in the area of 2nd and san carlos near san jose state university. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. earlier in the evening, san jose police say they found a 17-year-old young man on the sidewalk shot to death. this happened after 10:00 in east san jose near highway 101 in the area of east ridge mall. police have not made any arrests in either homicide. no word yet whether the two are linked by anything other than the time it happened. that new york manhunt is now a hunt for just one man. developing news in new york where police shot and killed one of those two inmates who escaped from an upstate prison three weeks ago. police found richard matt yesterday near malone, new york not far from the canadian border. they say they pulled the trigger after matt point add gun at them. officers recently found dna evidence linked to the suspects

at a burglarized cabin in the area and also got a tip from a driver who said someone had fired at his camper. many neighbors say they are very relieved. >> peace of mind. my family and i will be able to rest. three weeks now. it's time this is done and over with. >> the search continues for his partner in crime david sweat. the convicted killer escaped from a maximum security prison by using power tools to dig their way out. they alleged by had help from at least two workers at the prison. the fear continues to grip europe in the middle east after three terror attacks across three continents and dozens of people are dead. primary questions, are these attacks coordinated. in southeastern france authorities say the man with ties to islamic radicals rammed the vehicle into the american-owned chemical plant triggering an explosion there. that factory was targeted. it is owned by air products a company with locations in the

bay area. this is a statement from the ceo. it reads, "the incident reinforces that we all need to take safety and security very seriously every day and remain vigilant in everything we do. to tunisia where a gunman sprayed a beach resort with bullets killing at least 39 people. the attacks come days after isis with a month of disaster. at least 25 worshippers killed at prayers at a mosque. british prime minister david cameron p said they will not succeed. >> terrorists will not succeed. as long as they try to divide people around the world, they will only unite us in our determination to defeat these extremists and all they stand for. >> the prime minister says the british public needs to be prepared for the fact that many of those killed in the shooting in tunisia may have been fellow

weekend. by monday we're talking about triple digit heat returning to the bay area. enjoy it while you can. a little break from the heat. you'll notice clouds i was telling about peninsula east bays san francisco as well. one spot sunny skies, tri-valley as well. high temperatures today as i mentioned coming down a bit. still warm. 81 for south bay, 77 for peninsula, east bay at 77. look at this tri-valley we're expecting temperatures in the 90s. 91 there. san francisco. that 69 will feel pretty good compared to 91 in tri-valley. overall wherever you go nice. sierra red flag fire warnings for most of the sierra today, expecting gusts 20 to 40 miles an hour. with that strong dry wind in place and dry conditions we're definitely expecting at least a few hazards especially towards lake tahoe.

the thing about it we do have thunderstorms in the forecast for sierra today. they pose the threat for more outflow boundaries. we could increase that threat for gusts higher up to 40 miles an hour. also happening, pride weekend. parade happens tomorrow. temperatures comfortable near 60 at 7:00 tomorrow morning. 67 by 1:00 in the afternoon. so very comfortable, very tolerable there. also the rockies taking on the giants today, 105. first pitch 67 degrees. by the end of the game 62. those winds generally out of the west at 10 to 15 miles per hour. here is what we have happening on the surface map. we have a big area of high pressure keeping most of the west dry and hot. that's going to continue to be the case as we head towards the next few days. this ridge is not going anywhere. we're talking about very hot conditions not only for today and tomorrow but even as we head toward monday you'll notice winds will shift. that's when we'll see triple digit heat to the bay area monday, tuesday, even for wednesday as well. here is what it looks like.

you'll notice the trend, kts cool at least relatively speaking today and tomorrow. look at this by monday tuesday, wednesday, there's the key i was talking about. east bay valleys in particular. 90 by monday 102 by tuesday and 101 by wednesday. even in san francisco, it won't be that hot. that's where the temperatures are going to be comfortable. 60s for today and 70s as we head towards tuesday and wednesday. a little bit of something for everybody. if you like cool conditions san francisco is your spot. if you like the heat east bay valley is for you. back to you. >> all right. use mass transit because there's parties all over san francisco. still ahead on "today in the bay." >> on my way back 11 hour flight from fran forth, i sat there and said i'm going to do this. >> a man using soccer as a way to inspire our youth. it will make you bay area proud.

and that means...summer camps. bhe you're watching "today in the bay." >> kids are out of school. for a lot of them it means summer camp. there's a camp in oakland that is different from the rest. it's free but not just for low income kids. while it may look like a soccer camp there's a lot more going on. >> reporter: if you were to ask sparks about his summer camp he would say more language camp than a sports one, that language is soccer. one he said brings people together all over the world. one he believes can bring kids from different backgrounds together here. steve sparks isn't the first to notice similarities between a soccer ball and our world. there's the shape, of course. but there's also the knowledge that if you fill it with the right stuff, wonderful things can happen just like they did for steve.

the week long camp held at oakland's technical high school is completely free for players. but it's not just for low income kids. that would defeat the purpose, steve said. >> i think we have kids from 13 different zip codes. >> reporter: he wants kids from all different types of backgrounds to interact with each other in a way they normally wouldn't. the volunteer coaches reflect the one world nature of this camp, perhaps giving a bunch of kids from the east bay a passion they might carry with them for the rest of their lives. >> i remember the difference it made to me. you might have 80 kids in camp. and if 5 or 10 kids came back later on and said it impacted them that's it for me. >> streef's coaches don't take a

from a maximum security prison by using power towels to dig their way out. they allegedly have help from two workers at the prison. tonight show host jimmy fallon says he will recover after a mishap that required him to have hand surgery. fallon his sense of humor tweeting this picture of his injured hand saying, quote, pleading with one hand. the injury happened inside the host's apartment. it forced the host of the tonight show to cancel. the audience will get another chance. he tripped, fell caught himself but his wedding ring got caught on the table and really cut his finger. we'll be back in a moment with giants and a's highlights.

kris/cu much more ahead on today in the welcome back on saturday. time for microclimate forecast. start off with live image from san jose. sunshine already, no fog. high, thin clouds. really that's part of your headline for this morning. clouds are around the bay so not foggy everywhere. later on this afternoon, going to be sunny and warm now. the thing about it is going to be cooler from where it was yesterday by 5 to 10 degrees, especially inland valley. no triple digit heat just 90s. not so bad. sunday offer temperatures cooler. temperatures coming out of the 90s into the 80s for most of us. here is a look at forecast for today, 81 for south bay, peninsula for the high. same for east bay. san francisco while you won't be overly hot north bay up to 79. the one spot that's really going to be baking today, the tri-valley. that's where we're expecting temperatures in the low 90s by

this afternoon. again, all relative. after yesterday temperatures getting close to 100. temperatures coming down just a bit today. red flag fire warning in effect for sierra doing any traveling that way, heads up they are expecting gusty winds. anywhere between 20 and 40 miles per hour. expecting thunderstorms later this afternoon. that could pose a threat for stronger gu frs some erer gusts from some of those outflow boundaries. later today, cloud coverage making its way out of the bay area. look at the corner of the screen, some green popping up there. by this evening, thunderstorms popping up. yes, the potential for lightning does exist so we'll be watching it very closely. today, tomorrow start off with more cloud cover than we're actually seeing today. cloud cover going to burn off quickly, move over to sierra. by 4:00 5:00 6:00 see another repeat performance of showers and thunderstorms across sierra. just a heads up going to be sunny here but again thunderstorms across the sierra. perfect beach day to head to the pacific. nice and comfortable, 68.

half moon bay 73 for high temperature there and santa cruz. yeah nice day there. 78 degrees after yesterday getting into the 80s. a little bit of cooldown very comfortable even in santa cruz. it's all because we have a big ridge of high pressure not over the open waters like we usually have that warms us even at the coastline but across four corners region. that's what's going to bring in desert heat. a dry heat. even hot for places in the pacific northwest like seattle and portland that usually don't see this heat. for us here at home 60s at the coastline, a few 70s as well. 80s and 90s for today and tomorrow. we'll see a little brief cooldown, 90s out of here. by monday we're talking about 90s and triple digit heat returning to the bay area. so it is really going to be very hot even for east bay valley. look at this upper 80s for today, same deal for tomorrow. by monday tuesday, wednesday, that's really when the heat starts to build, talk about triple digit heat there. best news out of all of it
