there is a growing mystery tonight about the identity of a young girl, her body found two weeks ago in a small patch of land in boston harbor. a computer image of the little girl produced a flood of online clicks but authorities have few clues to go on. we get more from nbc's ron mott. >> reporter: a computer-generated image of this little girl whose body was found two weeks ago has gotten nearly 50 million views online. and while authorities have tracked down dozens of leads, they are appealing to those closer to her. >> if you're the parent or caregiver of this young girl, please, step forward, clear your conscience and help us identify her. >> reporter: the so-called from scratch composite was created by the national center for missing and exploited children

using various photos from stock photos and enhancing from various details from the body. a woman walking her dog made the discovery june 25th on a rocky shoreline of deer island near boston logan's airport. >> everybody is aware of this right now, you know, and everybody is concerned. how can someone do that to a little baby? >> reporter: officials say the girl was around 4 years old in a pair of black and white polka dot leggings and a zebra blanket was found with her. >> all of this is going to take time to run through fingerprint and dna databases but this is a highly solvable case. >> reporter: the massachusetts state police is asking the public to be alert for any children who seem to have gone missing from their communities, their neighborhoods, schools, summer programs parks, churches or any other places where people gather. >> she deserves to have her identity known to the public and she deserves the kind of dignified burial of any human being. >> reporter: eyes and ears by the tens of millions, looking and listening for clues to put a name to this face. ron mott, nbc news,

a family credits a selfie stick for helping prevent a tragedy at sea. their gopro camera captured it all as they got caught in a rip current off nantucket but dad was able to grab the selfie stick his teenage daughter was holding to keep her from getting pulled away and then lifeguards and some good samaritans came to the rescue. tonight something we haven't seen since the frenzy over the boy wizard. amazon says harper lee's novel "go set a watchman" is the most preordered print title on the site since "harry potter and the deathly hallows" back in 2007. lee's new book which she wrote over half a century ago before "to kill a mockingbird" and only recently discovered is due out next tuesday. if your invitation to the royal christening was lost in the mail, here is the next best thing.

teenagers are, that cliff is crumbling, right where the sea meets the land. the teenagers are siblings 15 and 16. apparent lirks the teens had trouble telling rescuers where they are, but they did hear the sirens. firefighters are now in place. rescue crews in the water below. we have a crew headed to that scene and we will bring you more information as it gets into our newsroom. one of san jose's busiest pot shops is shut down. our hidden camera exposed a rogue pot shop not following the city's rules for medical marijuana dealers. tony kovaleski first reported the raid today on twitter. this is santa clara county d.a. sending a message, tony? >> reporter: no doubt. it's been more than eight hours since law enforcement swarmed this area.
