this is "today in the bay." and a very good friday morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm sam brock. we mentioned it right off the top of our show, happening right now, hopefully time is on your side because doyle drive is closed and it will be for the next several face. a messy and a packed commute is expected for thousands of people trying to make their way around san francisco right now. >> our "today in the bay" team is in place to help you get where you need to go. we begin with stephanie chuang she's live in san francisco. how is it looking so far? >> reporter: it's picking up trafficwise but everything is still running smooth limit i just spoke with police who said right now the 6:00 hour is when they start to get a little concerned here along the highway 1 park presidio which turns into 19th avenue and california. the traffic coming off the of the golden gate bridge, this is a major dee tour drivers are taking to leave the city. all of this happening so crews can remove the temporary bypass

built three years ago and connect the final pieces of the new roadway. this has shut down the major access road for people between marin and san francisco off the golden gate bridge. there are police officers monitoring the major detour sbebs. they say last night went smoothing. they will be here until 7:00 in the morning. at that point is sfmta some of the meter maids will be taking over and monitoring until company 7:00 at night. this will be going throughout the weekend. the officers say this morning and tonight could get pretty bad. >> commuter traffic coming in the morning and also people -- there is event going on throughout the city so it does affect a lot of the cars coming in. >> reporter: significant here in the city. >> yes, it is. >> reporter: if you want to avoid a traffic headache, the suggestion is to take the golden gate it ferry which is tripling service this weekend. it starts at 8:00 this morning. there is an extra boat that can carry 500 passengers.

they say try to avoid parking, though, the terminal parking will be very difficult. it looks pretty good on our end. let's check in with our traffic anchor mike inouye who has a better perspective on areas outside of here. it's great to have you, stephanie, right there because that is one of the focus points we're looking at with the closure of doyle drive right here, this cuts off the folks through this entire region and they have to go south to the presidio area or california and geary are your only avenues over to highway 1, presidio parkway. a lot of folks call this 19th but it's 19th a little farther south. that's the stretch of roadway. looking are pretty good right now. we'll track that in the city itself. over in the east bay, bay bridge toll plaza had the metering lights turned on partially because of an earlier crash. the lights are on. look at the backup too the maze and the live camera, they are packed all the way back here. this is unusually heavy getting into san francisco and this may be added by a lot of folks'ded across the richmond bridge, east shore freeway and across the bay into san francisco. let's get another live look at that traffic backup along

19th avenue right where stephanie chuang was reporting or is reporting this morning. both steph and mike are tweeting out new details all morning long and they keep a close eye on how traffic goes in this part of the city. right now it is 6:03. new details this morning, four suspects behind bars accused of breaking into a san jose home and assaulting a man before taking off. putting the entire neighborhood on high alert. the intense search ended just hours ago. "today in the bay's" bob redell live at san jose police headquarters to tell us more and where it all happened. good morning, bob. >> reporter: san jose police rounded up the last of the suspects about five hours ago after locking down and setting up a perimeter in this neighborhood in east san jose. not far from mount pleasant high school. it was around 7:30 last night, four men, at least one of them with a gun broke into a house on harvest drive, police calling this a home invasion robbery. they ransacked the house, assaulted a man who lives

inside, possibly slashing him with a knife or some other sharp object. his condition is unknown. the four suspects then fled with the man's money but they didn't get far. officers arrested two of them right away jewett side the house, the other two hopped the fence, hid out am in different places throughout the neighborhood until officers found them around 1:00, 1:30 this morning. all four suspects are locked up, two in county jail, the other two in juvy hall as they are just 17 years old. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." happening today, in exactly one hour the confederate flag is going to officially come down in south carolina. yesterday governor nikki haley signed a bill to ban the flag from flying on state grounds. this this morning there is going to be a low key ceremony to lower the flag and move it to a military museum. that debate reignited last month after nine people killed at a historic black church in charleston. coming up in the mention half

hour we will have a live report on where the controversial flag is headed next and the passion behind its approval. it's about 6:05. we could learn more today about what led to the shooting of a woman on san francisco's pier 14. sheriff ross mirkarimi is holding a press conference this morning at 10:00 to talk about why juan francisco lopez-sanchez was released in april. lopez-sanchez is accused of killing kate steinle as she walked along the pier with her father on july 1st. the gun he reportedly used was stolen from a federal officer's car four days before the shooting but lopez-sanchez says he found it on the ground. he has pled not guilty. this morning the chronicle reports san francisco police never assigned an investigator to look into the gun theft. from the bay area to washington, d.c. the couldn't vrgs death with dignity act will be up for debate. it would allow an adult with a terminal illness to end their life with medication. members of the health and human services committee and d.c. city council members will be at that

meeting. brittany maynard's husband been there to testify in favor of the right to die legislation. she moved from the bay area to oregon to end her life last november after being diagnosed with brain cancer and became a national advocate for the legislation. the sports world now and he was an all timer, the raiders and raiders fans are remembering a length end this morning, quarterback kenny stabler. of course to many fans stabler was known for affectionately as just the snake, that was for his ability to slip away from defenders. the raiders drafted stabler out of the university of alabama back in 1968. he teamed up with john madden, nine seasons later he led the team to its first ever super bowl title. many who knew stabler said he was just as much a legend off the field as he was on it. >> he could go out and party much like his counter part bobby lane and he'd show up -- he might show up with a hangover and sick, he'd lead his team to victory. >> performance on the field.

stabler played for the raiders until 1979. he retired in 1984. his family says he tied wednesday from colon cancer, surrounded by loved ones. ken stabler was 69 years old. legendary raiders head coach john madden whom you just saw released a statement saying in part, quote, he was a perfect quarterback and a perfect raider. when you think about the raid rs you think about ken stabler. kenny loved life and this is a sad day for all raiders. the last quarterback to lead the raiders to the super bowl also issuing a statement, rich gannon tweeted, quote, so sorry to hear about the the passing of a true raider legend ken stabler, the original number 12. it was a pleasure to know him and to wear his number. to see more of ken stabler's memorable moments with the raiders head to our website nbcbayarea.com. >> may he rest in peace. in the bid st of a drought federal officials are telling hundreds of people in san mateo they have to buy expensive flood insurance. fema added 270 homes to its

updated flood map. many of their homes are on hillsdale boulevard. laurel creek is nearby, but homeowners who got the notice say they have never seen it overflow. >> we got that letter that said that if we purchase it before july 16th it might be cheaper, but that's just for a year and then it might go up again. we're not really happy about it. >> the new fema flood zone map becomes official july 16th. homeowners are being urged to buy that flood insurance before the date. city leaders in san mateo say if they don't they could run into trouble with their lender. you know what it's time for? >> time for a microclimate forecast check as we take a live look outside right now at the bay bridge. the bay bridge a little bit backed up today, but at least you can get back and forth. it is our other bridge, the golden gate bridge that has those closures today. might make it hard to get into wine country. >> a little moisture in the air as well. >> we see low clouds, all across

the bay area, and as we get our view from mt. tam we see the clouds just kind of brushing up against the top of those mountains. we also have some rain moving through this morning, had to turn on the windshield wipers on my way to work this morning, something unusual for this time of year, and it's still raining, a little bit of light rain for parts of the north bay. this may head over towards the east bay giving you a little bit of some wet weather before we head into a dry weekend. today all of the microclimates will give us some morning clouds and then clearing this afternoon, reaching 79 degrees in los gatos today, san mateo 70 degrees and 67 degrees in the castro. 76 degrees in napa today, vallejo reaching 68 degrees and livermore expect a high of 81 degrees. not a bad way to start out the weekend. at least the weather is looking nice, mike, how are the roads looking? the golden gate bridge, for example, had a little example of what you were talking b a little mist and drizzle.

we had wet pavement. not a i think maar concern. very light traffic as folks are avoiding t that's good news. because of that doyle drive closure. let's look out there, we're concerned about the surface street congestion, no problems out of the north bay, across the golden gate bridge, even lombard through the city looking all right, california and geary getting over towards highway 1, where stephanie chuang to be on the scene. over in the east bay we do see a lot of backup for the bay bridge, slow down the east shore freeway and the maze on the approach. this is unusually heavy for a friday. likely a lot of folks avoiding that golden gate by coming across the richmond bridge. we do have a camera over there, approaching san rafael, over on the right, farther over there we see a very light volume. you can hardly see any cars going away from us. those would be the volume of cars heading off of that bridge from the north bay. no drama through that stretch just a few more cars choosing to use that bay bridge. in the south bay making sure we

round out the rest of your traffic earlier crash north 101, that looks like it's out of lanes and recovery here, no other problems. doyle drive is the big trouble spot but so far we have avoided any major issues as stephanie chuang advised try to use the ferry system it but parking is the issue there and not the transport. >> these people are maybe heeding the warning. happening now, this is great, people lining outside of sacred heart in san jose hoping to be a part of the nonprofit's latest get away. look at the crowds that are out there. this is because today is the first day families can sign up to get one of 3,000 backpack. they're filled with new school supplies. they will actually pick them up close err to the start of the school year. this he have to sign up first. they certainly could always use your help. a lot of pens, pencils, paper, crayons, the works to to fill knows bags. you can donate money or even the new school supplies themselves. they do it every year and it goes for such a great cause into generosity on full display in

>> announcer: you're watching "today in the bay." good morning. we're looking at highway 1, folks are tausing to get a little camera time. we have traffic control in the area. this is at california, one of your major points we're worried about folks getting into and from the golden gate bridge. that's in san francisco. let's look out here over at the bay bridge. this is one of your alternates getting a view of the bay bridge and the richmond bridge instead of the golden gate. this is complicated by the crash on the incline, the big back into the maze and the metering

lights are on. a system designed to improve gun safety in california which is reportedly shooting blanks. that is the verdict from california's state auditor. in 2013 the department of justice issued a series of recommendations to root out potentially dangerous people who illegally own guns. according to the l.a. times a am am you state audit finds that program is barrel working and plagued with delays, the backlog of 2,600 outstanding cases is six times higher than the department's target goal. it is 6:15. service's uber wants to find a way to will down the number of people suing it from 30,000 to three. uber wants a judge to cancel a class action lawsuit. >> the strategy here for uber is to take the lawsuit against it and make it sounds like just a few unhappy drivers and not a problem with every single one of its drivers. three drivers have filed suit saying they should be treated like employees, not contractors.

they want the san francisco judge to widen that out to a class action suit. uber wants the judge not to do that. so uber filed paperwork with the courts on thursday with testimony from other drivers who say they like being contractors, they don't want to be part of the class action. this whot thing is supposed to be to trial in auchlgt either way it has huge implications for san francisco startups, many of whom rely on part-time contract workers. other news, we have new information this morning that two -- the two hacks of the federal office of personnel management were much worse than we thought. the old estimate was 4 million, now it's 22 million. and in the case of that second hack, anyone who applied for federal security clearance in the last 15 years has had their data stolen. wall street looking at two things in morning, january met yellen speaks at 9:00 our time and greece has turned in its last request for a bailout.

the finance ministers, we will look at it now, the european commission makes a final decision on sunday. a big win for san jose this morning. apple is going to open a very big office on the north side of the city. even as apple buildings that big space shift headquarters in this cupertino. the silicon valley business journal reports that apple will take over the building across the street from pal pal where highway 87 and 101 meet. apple employs 32000 worldwide not includes the stores. the building is 300,000 square feet so about 1,000 employees at the new office in san jose. >> perfect. >> new employees or relocated employees? >> probably a mix of both. >> okay. thank you very much. >> start making that apple pie. this morning vallejo's six flags discovery kingdom coming under fire for its fireworks show. environmentalists say they've

been pulling debris like this out of lake chabot. shall shallow's fire chief is looking in the matter and saying there will be talks about making the event more environmentally friendly. they say they are made from mostly bio tee gradeable materials. what kind of look can can you expect this this morning? let's get your microclimate forecast right now. that of course from san francisco you see the bay bridge in the distance. lots of folks getting ready to get that weekend started. we're here. >> there you go. a little rain to start the weekend. i wasn't mad, though, even though i washed the car recently because it's such a welcomed sight. >> i had to turn on the windshield wipers this morning and i'm thinking i'm going to have to wash your car again. that's just -- we're not going to talk about that because we to need the rain. the rain we've seen this had morning has been very light, though, we're still left with the cloudy skies as we take a life look now over san jose and you see the seven-day forecast now coming up at the bottom of the screen.

no major warm up headed our way. we will see the temperatures warming a couple of degrees each day and into the next few days we will get rid of a lot of this humidity and the low clouds like we're seeing this morning. we've also been tracking some light rain moving across the north bay. let's get a closer look at that because it continues to move up around areas like santa rosa and farther to the south like an rafael seeing rain moving through. this could head over to the east bay, 580 may see some of that rain this morning. you are probably already seeing some of of the streets are wet as you walk out and head to work, it's in the lower 60s this afternoon reaching into the 70s. another comfortable day with some clearing later on. the phillies face off with the giants today and at first pitch it will be 63 degrees and a few more clouds moving back in during the evening. so this area of low pressure that's bringing the wet weather this morning and that humidity in the clouds will be moving to

the east. getting ready for a mixture of some low clouds in the morning and sunshine during the afternoon which gives us some great weather for the obon festival in japan town in san jose in weekend. the weekend forecast all across the bay area will be in the 60s, 70s and some low 80s for the tri-valley. a mixture of sun and clouds and very comfortable for the next few days. that's a look at the microclimate forecast. let's get a look now at traffic with mike. we don't have a great look but i do have a view from this camera, emeryville, the flashing lights, though all the activity on the bay bridge span, this is at the bottom of the incline has cleared out of lanes. that should improve things. now look at the map. a big backup and that add to the problems as folks were avoiding the golden gate bridge for the doyle drive closure, east shore freeway, 580 and 880, the maze approach is jammed up but the rest of your bay looking very good, getting over toward the city that closure at doyle drive will force more folks on to

california. look at the san rafael a.m. camera, a lighter flow of traffic and no problems all the way down across in toward the golden gate bridge. a fighter friday commute. in the south bay we did have one crash northbound, right here we do have activity on the shoulder that was a crash, the crash at allen rock has cleared from 101. happening today, the first case of a second novel many believe would never happen. harper lee's "go set a watchman" will be released in full next week. today the first chapter of the book is being released online. this is lee's first novel since her highly acclaimed debut "to kill a mockingbird." i just tweeted out a link to it. i can't wait to read it. >> you already started i think the first page into in the commercial break. >> during the commercial break. she multi-tasks. a historic day for the u.s.a. we are talking about a ticker tape parade for the u.s. women's national team. >> should be amazing. plus, from california to the vatic vatican, why the governor will

to the vatican later this month - for a summit on climaha governor jerry brown is heading to the vatican later this month for a summit on climate change hosted by pope francis. the summit is being held as a way to get communities around the globe to take action on climb change. earlier in the year the pope said that combating global warming is one of the biggest challenges that the human race faces. in fact, one of the workshops at that conference will be talking about how global warming causes

poverty and is a breed ground for human trafficking and prostitution. the two day conference begins july 21st. while we are talking about the pope and while he was on his way to bolivia he ran into a little problem. he needed to make a quick wardrobe change but didn't have anywhere to change his clothes so he pulled over at a burger king and went inside and said, hey, i think can, i will trade you a paypal hat for your crown. and then he switched up his vestments. the restaurant obliged, putting up white sheets on its windows to give him some privacy. history in the big apple. >> that's right. for the first time ever the u.s. women's soccer team will be honored with a ticker tape parade down broadway. here is today show is it stephanie gosk. >> good morning. the u.s. women's soccer team is a historic team and today in new york city it's going to be a historic day. they're being honored with a ticker tape parade in the canyon of heroes. had this is the kind of parade that this city has been putting own for over 100 years.

invasion robbery last night in san jose. the homeowner is hospitalized. officers made the last of those arrests early this morning. in 30 minutes the confederate battle flag will be removed from the grounds of the state capital in south carolina. that flag will soon go on display at a nearby military museum. "today in the bay's" dave wagner is live in columbia, south carolina this morning. dave, governor nikki haley signed the bill into law yesterday. like lawmakers in south carolina it took her a little while to switch her position. >> reporter: if you look behind me, laura, you will see that there is a cross sks of people here, some very much opposed to this flag and others who believe this flag should stay right where it is. it's been three weeks since that hate fueled rampage at a charleston church in which nine people were killed. today in about a half hour or so this flag is coming down. it's been a long time since the civil war but emotions still run high over the future of this flag. >> the confederate flag is

"today in the bay" tracie potts joining us live from washington, d.c. tracie, that federal agency is now amping up its warnings about over the counter painkillers >> exactly. for a long time they've been concerned about the risk of heart attack and stroke and now there's new information suggesting that painkillers in this category carry that risk even if you don't have prior risk factors. more likely if you use more of it with higher doses and also, and this was sort is of viedsing, even if you only use it for a short time, had in some cases as short as a week. so the fda now wants to beef up that warning that they've had on these medications since 2004 when they pulled vioxx off the market. we're talking about advil, aleve, motrin known as ibuprofen in its generic form, celebrex if you use a prescription version. pretty much everything in that category of nsaids pept for aspirin. so what you can you do? they're not necessarily saying that you need to drop using them, but they do suggest that

you try acetaminophen first, most of us know that as tylenol. if that doesn't work then you can use these medications, but they suggest doing it in the lowest dose possible. sam. maybe just tweak your habits a little bit. thank you very much. it's time to check the microclimate forecast this morning. it's 6:35. taking a live look outside, beautiful bay bridge. woke up to some rain this morning. what are we in store for today and the weekend? >> we're seeing the low clouds and even a little bit of spotty light mist coming town, but unfortunately it's not enough to turn off the sprinklers, we are not really measuring much of that. as we get a look at sunol, can you see anything? we have some low visibility in many spots with some patchy fog this morning. this is what's happening on the radar. we are seeing some green showing up here across parts of the north bay, moving across interstate 580 and into the next few hours there will be this rain moving off towards the east. so affecting the east bay, too, but once again, a little bit of wet weather, but not enough to

really make a difference. now the temperatures this afternoon will be heading into the upper 70s in the south bay, in the peninsula, in the low to mid 70s, a mixture of sun an clouds. we will get more sunshine this afternoon as all of this moisture rolls out of here and setting the stage for a great weekend. i will show you that weekend forecast, we will get a look at more of the microclimates coming up here soon. let's check in with mike. we do have friday slowing, unusually heavy over on the east shore freeway, for example. this is our camera sewing you traffic away from us, down the maze, bottom of the screen you recognize that denny's yamd from the golden gate field down to berkeley curve. this may be additional traffic, come some, because approximate folks are avoiding the golden gate bridge. look at the golden gate bridge very clear getting in towards san francisco although the volume buildings. the reason you avoid the golden gate bridge is because of that closure at doyle drive. we do see a little slowing for highway 1, presidio parkway getting to and from the area nothing unusual. the bay bridge and approach over the right that's where the brig

drama is. we should see some recovery, but that's a tough drive right now. the rest of why you are bay moving smoothly, crash 101 mill berry at the peninsula. and in the south bay san jose northbound 101 the earlier issue, tow truck and car in that point there has cleared and there is recovery for speeds from 680 up toward the airplane airport. that's better news. >> looks busy for a friday. >> we have congestion there about now every friday. we will track it and see if it clears up as it should. >> thank you very much. 6:37. forget about clearing the air. clearing the water. new details about actor tom sell electric and accusations he was stealing water from a local water district for months. and a live look at the big board this morning. already up 220 points. not so bad. we'll check the numbers.

nightmare - all because of ash spewing from a volcano on indones m happening now, a travel nightmare, all because of ash spewing from a volcano on indonesia's main island. right now at least three airports are closed and the transport ministry is warning airlines to avoid routes near the mountain. this morning the volcano shot ash and debris more than 12,000 feet into the air. so far no mandatory evacuations for people living on the island, but officials are urging everyone to wear masks. 6:40. today the house expected to approve a bill that will speed up federal drug approvals, but it is causing a lot of backlash. those against the measure say it will weaken the government's safeguard against dangerous or ineffective products. supporters counter right back, it's about time it they speed up the process to get new products out on the market to help

people. the white house gave the bill a mixed review but didn't threaten to veto it. new this morning, they say it's time to turn off the spigot on all the talk involving tom selleck. and the water' apparently stole from a fire hydrant. a private investigator discovered selleck repeatedly hitched his tanker truck to a hydrant to steal water for his farm. authorities say no crime was commit, but the agency sued. now both sides have reached a settlement, but the details have not been revealed. that's the good news. traffic has picked up in the 6:00 hour but really no problems. it's very smooth, maybe this is the friday light happening here at california along highway 1 and park presidio which turns into 19th avenue. there was so much concern about gridlock there are four officers actually who have been posted at this intersection, some since 7:00 last night when the first closures went into effect. now, this had rerouting is happening because of the doyle drive closure. crews are working to remove the temporary bypass and to connect the final piece of the new roadway. this has shut had down the main access road for the golden gate bridge on the san francisco side. they are monitoring these major tee tour intersections fault through monday morning to help in case there's major congestion. >> commuter traffic coming in the morning and also people -- there's events going on throughout the city so it does affect a lot of the cars coming in. >> reporter: significant here in

the city? >> yes. yes, it is. >> reporter: the golden gate ferry is tripling service this weekend. starts at 8:00 had this morning with an extra boat that can carry up to 500 passengers from larkspur into san francisco. the tip is to get a ride or bike to the terminal because parking will be very difficult. now, earlier mike inouye sewed some shots of the golden gate bridge. mike, it looked like it was pretty smooth, it was pretty good. how is it looking now? we do have a smooth flow of traffic so far from your shot and behind me the golden gate bridge not so bad, folks are slowing on ate appropriate to the toll plaza but that's standard, you have to to that. there you go. we will look out there as well at the maps and show you that the doyle drive closure that's . highway 1 po moves slowly, that's presidio parkway and a little slowing for van ness and bomb lard. no drama in the city. the big backup that's the east shore freeway and also slowing for the richmond bridge, that's not mess i will due to the shift. let's take a look over here at

>> every little bit counts. >> it does. even though it's in the 100s of an inch. trace amounts, at least it's wetting the plants a little bit in time for the weekend. you still have to really water the plants, but now as we get a look now at san jose we see those low clouds as we get ready to start out the weekend. check out that seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. no major swings in the temperatures, we will see them warming up, a couple of degrees much day. i had to turn on the windshield wipers this morning. i was like, what is this stuff? you're probably seeing it now in the north bay and as we go into the afternoon it all clears out, we will get some sunshine and highs reaching into the upper 70s for the south bay, east bay 72 degrees and the tri-valley expect a high of 80 degrees. overall these temperatures are very comfortable as we see the highs in the upper 60s for san francisco and 78 degrees for the north bay. in today's forecast we see a little bit of some rain that we're seeing moving across the north bay, moving towards the east bay as it fizzles out,

suspects behind bars accused of breaking into a san jose home and assaulting a man before taking off, putting an entire neighborhood in east san jose on high alert. the intense search ended just hours ago. "today in the bay" bob redell live at san jose police headquarters. good morning, problem. >> reporter: san jose police here at headquarters tells us they did arrest all four suspects in what they are describing as a home invasion robbery, this taking place on the east side of san jose at a home on harvest drive, but it did take sometime as you can see in this video here as police did have to set up a perimeter and do a with regard to yard erch is. this happened around 7:30 last night, there were four men, at least one with a gun, a all four burst into that home, ransacked a house and assaulted a man who lives there, possibly we're hearing slashing him with a knife or other sharp object. had he also tried to escape with a that hand's money but officers arrived, immediately arrested two of the suspect, the other two hopped a fence leading to an intense search.

area. it wasn't until around 1:30 this morning that they found the other two member hiding in a garage that they had broken into. of the four suspects it turns out two are just 17 years old. they are right now locked up at juvy haul hall, the other two in county jail. reporting live here, bob redell, "today in the bay." happening today, 6:51, we could learn more about the shooting of a woman on san francisco's pier 4. sheriff ross mirkarimi holding a res conference this morning at 10:00 to talk about why juan francisco lopez-sanchez was released in april. lopez-sanchez is accused of still kate steinle as she walked along the pier with her father on july 1st. the gun he reportedly used was stolen from a federal officer's car four face before the shooting. lopez-sanchez says he found it on the ground. he has pleaded not guilty. this morning the chronicle reports san francisco police of he ever assigned an investigator to look into the gun theft. a loss for the sports world

and for the raiders and raiders fans who are remembering a legend this morning. quarterback kenny stabler. of course to many fans he was known more affectionately as the snake, that was his nickname. also named for his ability to slip away from defenders. the raiders drafted stabler out of the university of alabama in 1968. nine continues later he led the team to its first ever super bowl title. many who knew stabler say that he had just as much of a legendary history off the of the field as he did on it. >> he could go out and party much like his counterpart bobby lane and he would show up -- he might show up with a hangover and sick. he would lead his team to victory. >> stabler played for the raiders until 1979 and retired in 1984. you see a quote from john madden. stabler's family says tea died wednesday from colon cancer surrounded by loved ones. kenny stabler was 69 years old. now to raiders head coach john madden who had this to say,
