three hits each. 3-1. >> duane: a walk here would be just fine with bruce bochy because then you'd get that lead run into scoring position. so if you're adrianza everybody likes to swing at 3-1 pitch but make sure it's a good pitch to hit. >> jon: if he's going to get a good one to hit, you would think it would be right now. 3-1. he didn't hit it. 3-2. >> duane: if you're bruce bochy, you might think about sending belt but you just watch your hitters swing through a 3-1 fastball. you're thinking that adrianza's going to make contact.

10:08 pm
i give pagan credit there, young adrianza over anxious for the 3-1. pagan refused to swing until he saw a strike, never did. >> duane: now a guy that's red hot in joe panik. >> jon: romo is watching. joe panik to the plate against daniel hudson for the first it time. harkey on the phone to the bull pen. they'll get action going there. base hit can mean a run. both runners off and running at the crack of the bat. belt from second pagan from first. panik has had three hits in the game scored two runs and is hitting .313 for the year. strike one.

10:37 pm
them. and the pitch fx on the mlb app showed the last called strike on outside on the black on the outside edge. here's one of the best hitters are in the game. and there's ball one. what you like to do is pitch around him. you don't want to give him a chance to launch one hit one hit in eight career at-bated against petit and four he has struck out. >> duane: you can see where buster posey is setting up. and he's not setting up in the strike zone. >> jon: he goes way out there again. that one caught. that had movement coming back to the plate. he got the call.

10:40 pm
again new york doubles defense. goldschmidt dives safely back. you feel like if you made about eight or ten consecutive throws to first you'd kind of ice the guy down? >> duane: yeah. absolutely. >> jon: gets boring. the fans get a little upset. >> duane: all right, i'm not going to go. >> jon: back out of play. 0-1. >> duane: again, pagan playing about as far back as you can play. pence, maybe a couple of steps deeper than usual. the same for blanco. and you're doing that to keep a ball from getting into the alley which would keep goldschmidt, you would hope from scoring. >> jon: pence giving chase. that's well back out of play.
10:41 pm
>> duane: obviously, the risk you take balls fall in front of you, like goldschmidt's ball did. >> jon: truly, any other at-bat for him tonight i think pagan would have caught that ball. he's way out there now. 0-2 to tomas, who is 0 for 4 in this game with two strikeouts. tries to pitch out just in case. goldschmidt was not running. goldschmidt who played for that man, what three days ago. >> duane: yep. >> jon: together trying to beat the american league. paul goldschmidt. bruce bochy was his manager. now goldschmidt trying to beat bruce bochy. he is the possible winning run. 1-2 the count to tomas. not running. and the strikeout sends us to

10:46 pm
and finally got him on the foot. it was high. that might have been the saving grace for crawford. i don't know if he ever tagged him at all from that angle. >> duane: crawford right out of the box, knew he was going to go for two. gutsy move. >> jon: here is belt. the guy who has had success in this limited appearances against ziegler in the past. that's called a strike. belt got a bloop single his only hit of the night. this is the third plate appearance for belt where he's had a runner in scoring position tonight. >> duane: one more look at the slide. ahmed is quickly as he could, went to tag him.
10:47 pm
but if he did tag him, it would have been late. >> jon: high lazy fly left center peralta. and crawford will have to hold on. that's the kind of night it's been for belt with runners in scoring position. giants as a team they're 1 for 11 in those crucial at-bats. >> duane: it's not just so much that, you're looking for a productive out. if you're not going to knock that run in you hope that you can get that runner from second to third. >> jon: so for belt that's -- in his three at-bats with a runner in score position grounded out to third and struck out. this time the fly ball to center that doesn't get it done. chip hale will go out. blanco another lefty and right-handed hitting susac out on deck for the giants.

10:50 pm
made it look like he's kind of pitching around him. giants need a base hit to the outfield for a chance to get crawford home here. blanco very good at that the last several weeks. 2-1 the count. ziegler, the sixth arizona pitcher of the night, working in his second inning. doesn't seem anxious to throw another pitch to blanco, who then stepped away from the plate. little back door breaking ball for called strike.
10:51 pm
2-2 to blanco. that's within the range of owings. now crawford over to third with two down. susac will be entered in as pinch hitter for petit. one thing you might say, wait a minute, all they have left is the closer but the giants had four days off, like everybody else. so a lot of those pitches the giants usually use as starters have had plenty enough rest to come into the game if need be. called strike to susac who did not like the call. for casilla up in the giants' bull pen now. so he is getting ready for the
