dry. yesterday in los angeles we picked up .38 inches of rain that is a record for the day, it is a record for the entire month of july. we do have the chance for the next day more rain more thunderstorms in california and through the desert southwest. that could lead to more flash flooding. we also have an area of high pressure. not only are we looking at a lot of heat but it's becoming more expansive. boston has yet to hit 90 degrees in summer we should hit it today. heat watches and warning and advisories are in effect. temperatures not only in the 90s it will feel like closer to 100 degrees because of the humidity. i also want to point out four days ago the final bit of snow up in boston in that giant snow pile finally p melted away. >> only four days ago? >> just now. >> we will get more for you for the rest of the country in a few minutes. donald trump feeling the heat a day after he claimed senator john mccain was not a war hero.

the republican candidates not named donald trump have been looking for a moment to to what they did yesterday which is find an easy way to marge lies him and when they saw him attack mccain and his military service that became an easy thing to bounce on. there wasn't this fear of alienating his conservative supporters because this is a universal thing when to comes to military service. i to think it's the beginning of the end of the marriage of donald trump and the rooe party. does this mean this is the end of trump running for president? no. i think you're going to see had this huge push to continue collectively to get him out of the party. >> as the party continues to distance itself as you said this may not be the end of him as a candidate. if he does decide to run as a third party does he continue to inflict a little pain on the republican party? >> heould inflict a lot of pain on the republican party. the people he's drawing from right now, the group of voters that are supporting trump, nd i have a' talked to some of hem it has nothing to do with donald trump and his competence or

incompetence it has everything to do with protesting washington, d.c. and protesting the establishment of the republican party. so look he could become a -- continue to be a viable protest vehicle for voters that are just sort of fed up with washington politics and that would hurt any republican nominee. the question is he -- is he -- does he actually so focused that he would do -- it is hard work to run as an independent to get on all the ballots. one thing about trump he likes to take shortcuts to get to where he is and that's why i don't think he would actually follow through with the full-fledged third party candidacy. >> we will be watching. chuck, thanks. chuck we will see for of you later on today on "meet the press." chuck will speak to secretary of state john kerry about the iran nuclear deal. the tennessee shooting that left five military member ted. according to the new york times the gunman sent a text message to a friend before the shooting that may give some clues into his motivation for the attack. now his family is also speaking out for the first time.

nbc national cress bend ent is in koogt. miguel miguel, good morning. >> reporter: that text message reportedly sent by the gab to a friend reads in part who sofr shows empathy to a friend of mine then i have declared war against him. this as we know a fifth service member was tied here and the family of the gunman is reaching out. >> overnight for the first time the gunman mohammad abdulazeez's family released a statement. there are no words to describe our shock, horror and grief. for many years our son suffered from depression. it grieves us beyond belief to know that his pain found its expression in this lane mouse act of violence. we are also learning more about a troubling period in his home life. in 2009 abdulazeez's mother filed for divorce. saying she was repeated by the gunman's father that her children were occasionally struck and berated without provocation or justification.

it's unclear whether he disputed the allegation but the couple remained married. the gunman's life under the microscope. >> they're looking at electronic records, cell phone records, credit card receipts travel duplication. they're interviewing all of his coworkers, family friends, neighbors. this weekend the fifth victim 26-year-old maef petty officer randall smith died from three gunshot wounds. he leaves behind his young wife and their three small children. >> when i came here i just knelt down and cried because it is so overwhelming nr soon there will be services for the four marines killed thursday staff sergeant david wyatt deployed three times to iraq and afghanistan was an eagle scout before he became a marine. >> we will remember his spirit forever. >> his father told us when gunfire broke out the family man helped strangers get to safety and was killed when he returned to help more escape the bloodshed. >> he loved his family and he

"the new york times" has uncovered the full deposition of cosby talking about his sex life and how he lured young women using his wealth and fame. nbc's kristen dull gren is here with more shocking details. good morning. >> good morning. this is the same deposition that we heard just a small part of

earlier this month. now the inn tire deposition is tomorrow thousand pages is out there. full of sell lashs details as cosby speaks openly about young women, sex and drugs. >> they are bill cosby's own words describing a string of sexual encounters in graphic detail. claiming he mentored young women using his name and promising career advice as part of his frequent sed duks. in the full deposition obtained by "the new york times" cosby claimed he and his accuser were quote, playing sex, were playing, petting. cosby also suggested he understood nonverbal signals for when a woman consent. she does not say to me don't ever could that again, she doesn't walk out with an attitude of a huff because i think i'm a pretty decent reader

of people and their emotions in their romantic is sexual things. the deposition revealed details from other relationships, including an exchange with a woman whose father died of cancer. cosby admits using that information to get close to her. the accuser's attorney asking did you ask her those questions because you wanted to have sexual contact with her? cosby, yes. while there has been much speculation about how much cosby's wife really knows, the times says cosby described blocking ago damaging magazine article and sending money to one woman through his agent so mrs. cosby wouldn't find out. as for accusations of drugging women, cosby insists benadryl was the only medication he gave the accuser in the case but he is open about obtaining seven prescriptions for quaaludes, admitting he gave them to women, quote, the same as a person would say have a drink. cosby denied using quaaludes without their knowledge but when asked whether one woman was in a

south bay and peninsula have the best chance of seeing anything as far as lightning and thunder goes. the rest of the bay will see a few rain showers heading through the day. temperatures are still warm michelle, because it is a tropical system. remnants of former hurricane delores moving through, that continues to move through tomorrow. time it out to the doorstep coming up, let you know how it looks through the day. >> busy day, thank you, anthony. we begin with breaking news. police reportedly located the man they call a person of interest in connection to a homicide that left five people dead in a modesto home. at about 2:00 this morning, modesto police tweeted that martin martinez the man seen here was spotted by san jose police. yesterday morning officers were called to a home for a welfare check. that's when they discovered three children and two adults had been killed. detectives call it a homicide investigation. at this point aren't saying much else. no word on who owns the home or

how the victims were related. the investigation is on-going and we will bring you more information as soon as we get it. new information in the search for a suspect in the south bay. morgan hill police are looking for a teenager who escaped from santa clara boys ranch, juvenile facility in morgan hill near highway 101 and live oak high school. authorities say five teens escaped around 9:00 last night. after a couple hours, they found four of the five boys took them back into custody. the teen on the loose is described as a 17-year-old hispanic man with a tattoo of an s on one arm and j on the other. officers say he does not have a violent history. he hasn't even suited up for his first game now an incoming freshman football player has been cut from san jose state. he was arrested friday. this is a picture of him from

going to see this heat expand up into new england where temperatures today will finally get up near 90 degrees. 92 in new york city. even back through the upper midwest we're looking at highs in the mid 80s and lower 90s. down south through texas and louisiana we're around 100 degrees and it will feel warmer with the humidity. believe it or not, it's humid outed in the southwest with temperatures up around 80 degrees. palm springs around 95. in the northwest we're continuing with more heat. portland in the mid 90s. we have a cold front triggering storms through the interior northeast and great lakes. in the southwest we'll see more monsoonal moisture. same story tomorrow. as for severe storms tomorrow they will make their way to the midwest through missouri and illinois kentucky too. west virginia could good sunday morning.

this morning. before we talk to them here is a closer look at the video everybody is talking about. a warning, some may find the footage a little graphic. >> nothing is routine when it comes to childbirth. for their third baby they were in for a surprise. 45 minutes into an hour-plus drive to the birthing center her contractions suddenly became very strong. >> water broke. the water broke. [ screaming ] >> with no cell phone reception on houston's beltway husband john had to decide whether to keep driving. [ screaming ] >> do you want me to stop or keep going? >> keep going. since they didn't have video foot act ofage of their older daughter's birth. she asked john to film this. a little more than two minutes after her water broke -- >> it's a boy! look at that. baby josiah arrived weighing at 10 pounds and three ounces. >> we did it!

cell phone, so if we had pulled over we couldn't have done anything better than just going on and getting to the birth center where we had mid wives waiting to get us excellent medical care rather than me not knowing what i'm doing on the side of the highway. >> so they thought it was better to keep going. we know that you wanted the video because you didn't have video of your older daughter's births s births. what made you decide to put it out there so 4.8 million people have watched the birth? >> well, i don't really -- i don't know. a lot of people were like you should put it on youtube. we're like maybe. and i guess finally enough people convinced me that we should do it. so it was mainly just for family friends, and just took off and i was so surprised. i didn't really expect it to go that far. >> a little more than family and friends have seen it now. what has the reaction been like for you guys? >> well, there's all sorts of

this morning on "sundays with harry" pluto up close and personal. pluto was degraded from a planet to something less. thankfully harry smith is here to explain it. >> mr. science. there's no question the pictures we've seen this week have been cool very cool. icy mountains, right. while we contemplate the science, here is a little history. it's been great to be able to get a close up look at pluto. kind of hard to imagine sending a spacecraft out into the solar system nine years ago and a couple of billion miles later the thing finally gets close to its destination.
