physical health. so, to hear the news was shocking. it was weird. i was, you know, i was flying back from a weekend with friends in new orleans and when i landed, i looked at my phone and it happened to be my birthday and i was looking at birthday wishes. just flipping through things and i flipped and i saw a text from kathie lee and i looked at it and she left a voicemail, too. she said frank had passed. i kept reading it, and reading it and rereading it. thinking it was not true. she asked people not to come to her house. so i left the airport and got to her house. she looked at me and said, i'm so glad you never listen to me. >> she wanted you there for sure. how is she doing? >> you know, you know how she talks about her faith and i know she lives her faith and i believed it. but i got to tell you, i didn't believe it more than i did yesterday when i saw her after
10:02 am
that. because frank had passed away hours before and she said she was rejoicing in her life. when she said is, jenna, you felt it. it wasn't the kind of thing that you say, you know, i know there's initial shock when someone passed because we all lost someone and we know what it feels like. but not like this. and i said to her, and i was crying and she was holding my hands. >> she was comforting you. >> she said, let me tell you something. let me tell you what a tragedy is. you know the kids in the truly brave video, the kids that didn't make it, the young kids with cancer. that's a tragedy. let me tell you about frank gifford. she said frank gifford was a hall of famer, was an incredible football broadcasting legend and more than all that, he was a family man. he built this family and she said he is a triumph. she said, remember that. frank gifford is a triumph. he got to live to almost 85 years old. >> he was a legend.

10:04 am
we all got to know frank. frank wasn't just the husband of someone you work with. we got taknow ho know. when i first started working with kath. before we started i went out to their house to meet frank and cody and cass. he said i know something about a hit show, let me tell you how you can have a hit show with kathie lee. i said, okay. he said, you have to trust her with everything you have. and he said, and look at me. and she is the most trustworthy person i have ever known. and i never forgot that, that showed how much love he had for her. but he came on our show a bunch of times and he was always, he was always fun. i mean, you know, i have to say, when he showed up here, we knew we were going to laugh and i think we have a little bit of frank on our show. >> frank gifford is in the house, baby pyou were 56 when w
