right now the temperature's in the lower 60s, though it's 65 degrees in the peninsula. today's high brings it up to 79 degrees in the peninsula, south bay 87 degrees. east bay 80. tri-valley today 87 degrees. and san francisco, 69 while the north bay tops out at 81. i'll have more and let you know how long the cooling trend lasts coming up in the microclimate forecast. let's get a look at the roads with mike. >> cool across the bay bridge. look here as it slows into san francisco westbound, taillights, easy breezy drive. look at your map, no problem across the bay bridge on our sensors. bay bridge, there's richmond/san rafael, slowing because more cars hitting there new crash reported highway 4, watch that. there's early slowing through antioch and slowing in from livermore west 580 out of the altamont pass. back to you guys. a developing story, we are continuing to track a brushfire in the east foothills. firefighters say they're having trouble getting to it because

it's on very steep terrain right now. that fire started last night off of san felipe road east of 101. >> six acres have burned but it's in the steep canyon area, not far from silver creek country club but now no homes are threatened. you can see how hot and high the fire is burn, throwing ash into the air. no doubt, people in southeast san jose could wake up to the smell of smoke. they have it about 70% contained. we know there's wildlife in that area as well that could be in danger. but something we're keeping tabs on as firefighters are putting their greatest effort towards this fire burning in southeast san jose. also in san jose, developing, a search for a man wanted in a vicious crime. this surveillance video released last night shows three suspects right before police say they killed a man. one of the suspects is still on the run. >> the two others shot and killed by san jose police officers, all within 24 hours of each other. sanchez joining us the studio. there are a lot of layers to this crime. >> yeah, the outrage against the police shooting and then the simple for that suspect, right there that one who is wearing a mask in that surveillance video. police say they assume that he is also armed. san jose police released the video last night showing three suspects entering the san jose office space where they say they killed a 38-year-old man on thursday. police say the first to enter is 29-year-old matthew castillo who runs in with a gun, followed by 40-year-old richard jacquez who police say was aiming a tech .9 assault weapon there in the video. you see him just about that. police spokesman says that it is because of that video that officers were working on the assumption that jacquez was armed and dangerous when he fled from police monday. speaking eight vilgle, jacquez's family says police didn't have to kill him. >> you see how they were -- the suspects were running after and

intimidating and terrorizing the victim. >> i don't care what they say. he has family, he has friends. everybody loved him. whatever they say, that's up to them. but we know who he is. we know who he is. >> police are look for the third suspect in the video, one there dressed in all black. they say they don't know his race, his age, nor his description because he is wearing that black bandanna over his face. police are urging that third man or someone who knows him to turn himself in peacefully. the other two did not and, as we mentioned, paid with their lives. >> warning has been issued. 5:03. this morning, yosemite dealing with another possible case of the plague. tourists from georgia who visited the national park earlier in the month has now come down with plague-like symptoms. centers for disease control is testing patient to confirm that

diagnosis. california's health department is working with park rangers to determine what areas the sick camper visited. the plague, transmitted by fleas or rodents, can be deadly if not treated early enough. a warning on the peninsula, keep your pets indoors. animal control says coyotes are responsible for a series of cat maulings in palo alto. two cats were recently found dead in an area that spans from barren park neighborhood to palo alto orchards. there have been several coyote sightings. the drought is causing wild animals to travel farther from usual habitat in search of food and watt. >> priced out of the million dollar view homes, that's the fear at pacific skies mobile home park in pacifica. that property's right on the ocean, home to low and moderate income families. residents got a 60-day notice to

edsel, road here to detroit for the panama international exhibition in 1915. original palace of fine arts built for the event. to celebrate the historic model t. is here in town 100 years later. a group with the historic vehicle association re-created that exact route in 1915. so 34 days, 3,500-mile road trip top speed of 35 miles an hour. so that was 150 to 250 miles each day getting here. back in 1915, at the exposition, ford had a working model t. assembly line that produced around 18 cars a day and that came out to be more than 4,000 model t. cars built at exhibition altogether. it's pretty popular here in san francisco. we're going to get the very first look of the model t. that's here in town. more coming up in our show. stick around. live in san francisco, "today in the bay," stephanie chuang. >> so cool.

is moving with mike. >> much more relieved now that they see coming out of livermore where things are 20 degrees cooler than a few days ago this is west 580 out of livermore into dublin. good volume of traffic. good speeds as well. the map, westbound 580, which typically shows slowing out of the altamont into livermore, no problem at dublin interchange. tri-valley valley predictable. bay bridge, the upper east shore freeway, smooth drive here. talked about highway 4, balfour, in brentwood, there's a crash. slowing for antioch. no problems for the north bay here on the other side of the map. as we move down any where south of the dumbarton bridge, easy drive as well. only incident to report, north 87 at julian on-ramp, crash still there, lanes are open back to you. developing story, firefighters say, as we've mentioned, they're having trouble getting to a grass fire that started last night in the san jose foothills. that fire started off of san felipe road east of 101.

>> "today in the bay's" bob redell live near where the fire's moving at a smail's pace but in a tricky spot up there. >> reporter: it's rugged, very steep terrain. at the end of san felipe here in southeastern part of san jose. and it's so hard to access, we're in the neighborhood just on the edge of the fire. fortunately, this fire's burning above population, the home behind me, other structures in the area are not being threatened by the fire. here are the latest numbers from cal fire, the fire started before midnight last night. it's burned over six acres. and it is 70% contained. they have 11 engines on, 3 tenders, 4 hand crews. because they're in rugged areas, a 50-foot drop they're trying to navigate they'll rely on hand crews throughout the day and they have to do cleanup. they are expecting to be here well into the morning, if not

lately people have been spend morgue times in airports than they'd probably like. how many stars would you give the tsa or the dmv? >> now you can tell them exactly how you feel about your experience. the government teaming up with yelp to let you know size up its services. >> what are the results going to reveal? "today in the bay's" edward lawrence live in washington, d.c. the government hopes the feedback, though, is going to help out. >> exactly. some people are going, we can't wait to get that review. we use yelp to find restaurants and hotels. why not give feedback to the federal government? that's what the general services administration digital gov team wants you to do. that team was formed last week, and they'd like you to review the government services. does it take you 20 minutes to get a passport or was the worker in the federal park nice to you?

these are the type of things they want to see you post on yelp and give that star rating. now according to the white house, they're hoping managers and employees even in government agencies will read these reviews and see the stars and make adjustments. so you're dealing with the government is a little bit better. the interesting part should be, when folks come tonight yelp and look at something like the tsa or the comments you get about u.s. forest service, it should be interesting to see the result of this sort of experiment from the federal government. reporting live in washington, back to you. see if anyone's nice about it, edward. 5:14 now. getting in touch with city officials in burlingame will be as easy as checking in on a smartphone. the city's launching a free app allowing users to report city issues and request nonemergency services such as flooding, burned out streetlights, even litter. the app is called access bur ling game and officials hope it will promote transparency.

calls for transparenctransp pressure going as congress ready to launch hearings into hillary clinton's e-mail. >> how many of the e-mails passed through personal e-mail server were classified? scott mcgrew, has she turned over all of them. >> those are questions. clinton continues to insist she did not send classified material from her personal e-mail server and items were later found to be classified were classified after the fact. congress tomorrow will launch its own hearings and much of this is political. the house is republican, clinton is the leading democrat for president. but legitimate questions remain about what was sent, whether it was classified, and how much clinton understood about how the e-mail server, her e-mail server, worked. clinton was asked by a fox news reporter, you were the official in charge. did you wipe the whole server? clinton responded, what, with a cloth or something?

but spending most of the day in the 60s and then we see clouds moving back in by 7:00 or 8:00. high of 84 degrees can be expected today in san jose. redwood city, 77. san martin, 87. still warm in spots but not sizzling, not scorching. 88 in novato. concord 86. the high pressure that brought us hot weather the past couple of days is moving to the east. coastal fog does keep our cooling trend in place. at least for the morning hours. then it warms up this weekend. in between weather systems but nothing dominating. so, we will keep a nice weather pattern as we go into the next several days. here's a look at temperature trend for san jose. really no major swings up and down. we'll stay near average. let's see how roads are moving with mike. >> moving well cooler, that's good news. this is westbound 92, san mateo bridge, nice volume of traffic.

new video out of washington state, explosion and fire rocked a motel 6 near seatle moments after guests were evacuated. a gas leak was reported about 8:00 last night and less than 30 minutes later an explosion levelled the large part of the motel. guests reported a shockwave. firefighters were on scene, they were blown back 20 feet. the gas company employees in the hospital with severe burns. a follow-up now from blue to pink. the fda approved the world's first drug designed to boost a woman's sex drive. known as addyi. taken daily, the effects kick in

"today in the bay's" bob redell joining us live from san jose. that fire isn't spreading fast but crews are having a tough time getting to it. >> reporter: because of the steep terrain and it's one cal fire firefighter said to us earlier, this is the result of four years of a drought in california you are going to have heavy fuels. with heavy fuels and source of ignition, you're going to have this. this i video that came into the newsroom. you can see the fire, it has grown to six acres. this is a rugged area off of san felipe road in the southeastern section of san jose here. the fire starting around 10:00 last night. started, as you mentioned, slowly but has grown to six acres and the latest numbers from cal fire is that it is 70% contained. they've got 11 engines, 3 tenders, 4 hand crews and

garbage trucks in hopes of catching criminals. mayor sam liccardo supports the proposal but wants to make sure it doesn't trash people's rights. >> i think certainly we want to understand civil liberties implications, legal implications putting cameras in public, i think we're all concerned about that. >> supporters say the program could help track down fugitives, stolen cars, missing kids. garbage collect companies and workers would not able to access data. south bay workers will be taking home morn than they do now. city council voted to boost the minimum wage to 11 an hour. takes effect january 1st. it's the highest minimum wage in the entire country. also it will be adjusted annually pegged to consumer prices. controversial issue right now on pay, laura, businesses that unfairly label workers' independent contractor better be

ready to pay the piper alook with employees. recent federal court rulings against bay area based companies mean the government's serious about enforcing labor rules. the companies, including national consolidated couriers in san leandro and stanford yellow taxi in mountain view, have to pay millions in unpaid back wages. each accused of misclassifying employees who did not receive proper benefits. pg&e crews working through the night to find the source of a mysterious smell. the fire department started getting calls from people who smelled what appeared to be natural gas near the coliseum. pg&e was called in, along with a haz-mat team. utility company brought in special equipment to search for the source of the smell. >> about two dozen gas te technicians sweep the area using state-of-the-art leak detection equipment and have not found traces of natural gas.

>> i'm concerned about long-term effects, chemicals, things that can happen with the kids, family members. >> the different agencies chasing the smell believe it could be the result of a business nearby using a different method for cleaning tanks. san francisco state preparing to welcome the largest freshman class in the college's history. more than 8,000 students expected on campus come monday. that includes freshman class of 4,200 students many moving into campus starting tomorrow. it's going to be tight living quarters with so many students. the school is tripling up many dorm rooms. hoping to putting a stop to sand mining in the bay, the group san francisco bay keeper sued california a few years ago alleging companies mine the bay for sand. a judge ruled against sf bay keeper but the group appealed. sand is used for construction projects but environmentalists say sand mining causes erosion and could cause the great

hackers claimed to have stolen customer information from the cheating site ashleymadison.com. hackers demanded the site shut down or they would publish personal profiles online. they've made good on on the threat, the information includes user names, addresses and phone numbers. the hackers claim it does not stand by its policy. a once hot idea shelved, there won't be special cooking events at williams sonoma store where it all started. it's everywhere but the first store opened 59 years ago in sewn nom ma. according to the press democrat, city council shot down a permit for a handful of cooking demonstrations where the company reopened last year. opponents were concerned about crowd, noise, and traffic. >> what's scott mcgrew got cooking up? telecommunications company, which supplies wi-fi to convention ken centers, latest
