his wrenching loss. and the plight of thousands of m migrants and refugees. >> reporter: he is heart broken. he's just seen the bodies of his two drowned sons, the most beautiful children in the world, he called them. he was three and fell from an over crowded boat with his 5-year-old brother and his mother. his boats left for greece and we were hit by waves. the boat flipped. i tried to catch my children but it was hopeless, then i took my wife and boys in my arms and realized they were all dead. they had fled war torn kobani and syria, hoping to reach canada where the boys aunt said their mother was scared of the sea and couldn't swim. and over the same sea, thousands more crossed to greece. tempers are flaring and no wonder. it's a matter of life and death.

>> reporter: in hungary. they wait at the budapest train station, desperate for their dreams to come in, dreams of germany and beyond. the train did come in, destined, people thought, for the border and it was mobbed but some were suspicious. skeptical because hungary has taken a hard line. its official policy is to put all migrants into camps. until their asylum claims can be processed. they boarded the trains anyway. and about 45 minutes later, the skeptics were right. the train stopped, riot police waiting. european passengers off loaded to another train and refugees a man drags his wife and baby to the tracks. i won't move, he screams. they were dragged away. as night fell, some agreed to get off the train. several tried to run for it and

were chased down. this morning an all time high for donald trump. a new poll has him on top of the gop field at a whopping 30%. dr. ben carson shoots up to second place, but he's still 12 points behind. jeb bush falls back to third with single didn't support with the highest unfavorable rating in the gop. and a fairly mainstream move for the so-called antiestablishment candidate, trump signed a pledge yesterday promising his loyalty to the gop. they poked fun on switer with the note voted republican since 1972. and he also heard it from kareem abdul-jabbar. the nba legend expanded on his

"washington post" op ed last night. >> political campaigns are about style and substance. mr. trump's style is very attractive. but pretty soon we'll have to hear some substance. when we hear what the substance is for his programs for his vision for america, i don't think his candidacy will last very long beyond that. >> and more controversy for hillary clinton. her state department chief of staff, cheryl mills, a lawyer who has long been at clinton's side testified behind closed doors to the republican-led benghazi committee. joe biden gave an emotional explanation of where his head is at right now for 2016. he insists he doesn't know if he will run. >> i'll be honest with you. the most relevant factor in my decision is whether my family and i have the emotional energy to run.

everybody talks about other factors, the other people in the race and whether i can raise the money and whether i can put together an organization. that's not the factor. the factor is can i do it? can my family undertake what is an arduous commitment that we'd be proud to undertake under ordinary circumstances but the honest to god answer is i just don't know. >> the first democratic debate is next month. and in kentucky, a judge has drawn a clear line as to where rel religious freedom ends. county clerk davis is behind bars for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. and the supreme court ruled that same-sex marriage was legal.

but that didn't sit well with those who believe such marriages violate god's law, including davis. >> reporter: outside the packed federal courtroom, prayer -- >> i believe christians at this point in time need to stand up for their faith and what they believe in. >> reporter: and protest. on the witness stand, kim davis broke down in tears saying she became an apostolic christian after the death of her mother in law. and she said she could not comply with the court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, adding that conscience will not allow her to. >> we are not issuing marriage licenses today. she has refused to issue marriage licenses to gay or straight after the supreme court ruled that same-sex marriage was legal.

>> why are you not issuing marriage licenses today? >> because i'm not. >> reporter: two federal courts ruled against her, ordering her to do her job. the supreme court declined to block those orders. and federal court found davis in contempt and ordered her into federal custody. >> she'll stay in jail. she will not bow to nobody. i mean, that's our beliefs. that's what people don't understand. >> reporter: the social media lit up both in favor of and opposing. a major victory for patriots quarterback, tom brady. the four-game suspension stemming from the deflate-gate scandal has been overturned by a new york federal judge. cameras spotted brady hours after the decision walking the gillette stadium hallways. in a 40-page opinion, richard berman wrote, there were legal

deficiencies and the league treated him unfairly. they failed to inform him of the stiff punishment he could receive. the league has appealed but brady will still play in the thursday night's opener. when it comes to pope francis, people have come to expect to unexpected. and the pope slipped out of the vatican and made a surprise visit to his optician to get some new glasses. normally they would be delivered but he decided to visit the eye wear shop in person and insisted on paying for them himself and it drew a large crowd. a bigger crowd than usual i imagine outside an eye glass store. you can expect to see a lot of outlandish things at the burning man festival. here's something attendees probably were not really expecting to see. and a dust devil caught on camera by a festival goer. you can see a lot of people

stopped to watch the phenomenon. dust devils are small swirls of air that are visible because of the dust and degree. >> now for a look at the weather. steve, dust devils, i guess burning man is even weirder with those things around. >> right. it got even more bizarre out there. they actually may see more of them for this afternoon with some dust storms in the south and west. overall, much of the country will note this labor day weekend as a nice one. some thunderstorms in the southeast. but most of us here on the west coast are dealing with a beautiful day. in fact, i do want to highlight one of our best cities for the weekend. san francisco, check this three-day forecast out. about as nice as it gets. we start in the mid 70s on friday and climb into the upper 70s by labor day monday. this is saturday.

of lieutenant joseph gliniewicz. a resident has turned in surveillance video and it may have clues. illinois police are planning a news conference later this afternoon and the funeral will be held on monday for gliniewicz. and surveillance footage captures the moment a masked gunman enters a home, grabbing a woman. [ screaming ] and you can see the hand of the 76-year-old woman's mother trying to fight off the intruder. then a second suspect entershol the mother to the ground. and minutes later, the men leave the house without taking anything. police are investigating. a former oklahoma sheriff's deputy is in jail after allegedly beating his wife with a flash light.

bystanders stepped in to stop it. this is not the first time that douglas beckham has been accused of domestic abuse. court documents allege he hit his wife with a claw hammer back in december. . a small airplane crashed in california thursday morning. it landed upside down on some cars. a flight instructor and student died in the crash. and in florida, a helicopter crashes and luckily the pilot was able to walk out of the chopper and get on a stretcher after rescuers arrived. he suffered a spinal injury. time to get down to business now with landon dowdy. >> good friday morning to you. investors are taking a cautious approach ahead of today's u.s. jobs report. giving up strong early gains. asian markets fell overnight and europe is in the red. analysts expect 220,000 jobs

roof is expected in court in october on state charges that include nine counts of murder. federal charges including hate crimes and obstruction of the practice of religion. in massachusetts police units were searching for a man who opened fire at a police officer while he was driving causing him to crash into a tree. they later learned the officer crashed the cruiser himself and then shot it and set it on fire. officials say the officer has been fired. at lucas oil stadium in indianapolis on thursday three fans suffered minor injuries during a preseason game between the colts and the bengals. a bolt from the stadium roof fell as the roof was being opened at halftime. all three fans are expected to be okay.
