we will look at the oakland station, we just saw a train arrive and it just started. we do have delays reported system wide largely bus of that transbay tube. they run the trains slowly through the areas when they have had any major closure like they did all weekends for that stretch. they are still running trains on manual mode that means a slower train. so far no update when they will have it back up to speed. they had hoped by 6:00. we do have the bay bridge metering lights on and that's causing more slow down as well. also a little sluggish because it is going to be hot out there. >> as you head out make sure you grab a bottle of water. stay hydrated in this heat. one thing working for us, it is cool outside right now. 53 degrees in the north bay and san francisco 63 degrees, but check out these highs today. 98 degrees in the north bay, south bay 101, men's la 94, east bay 96 degrees, tri-valley 103

and san francisco 96 degrees. we will take a look at the rest of the microclimate forecast coming up. laura. thank you very much. we do have an update to breaking news. crime scene tape, shattered glass and bullet casings lit after busy san francisco street after gunman opened fire shooting two men at a bus stop. now police hope surveillance cameras caught images of the suspects running away, "today in the bay" stephanie chuang live in our san francisco newsroom this morning. not just one shooting overnight but two. >> reporter: that's right. and the shooters for both shootings still on the run. so police have a lot on their hands, still searching this morning for the people responsible for the shootings that were just blocks and hours apart from one another. the most recent one happened around midnight near the 24th street bart station. police say they are looking for two people behind that shooting that send two men to the hospital. investigators say they have enough to determine that the man in his 20s who was shot in his groin area was probably the intended target.

while an older man in his 50s shot in the chest was likely shot by accident. police talked to people in the area, they searched and marked evidence, namely bullet casings and examined two cars that were also struck by bullets. what is critical in this is what laura mentioned, security camera footage. there are at least three cameras in the area belonging to the city, bart and muni. investigators hoping that something will come up in that show and show who is behind the shooting. it is unclear if there is such foot analogy for the other shooting that happened about half a mile away near cesar chavez and sful some. that happened in front of a home sending that victim also to the hospital but the good news in all of this, while police are still searching for the shooters is that all three victims are expected to survive. live in our san francisco newsroom, stephanie chuang, "today in the bay." thank you very much. we're also keeping an eye on another developing story. in two hours authorities are going to meet in tiburon then head back out to angel island to search for a man who hasn't been scene in nearly 30 hours.

chuck coppola is live. chuck, he disappeared while camping with his wife. >> reporter: that's right. good morning. the couple and two friends were aboard a leased boat anchored on angel island. wouter van lier is 42 years old, 6 feet tall, weighs 190 pounds, has brown hair and blue eyes. one clue that has guided searchers very early sunday morning in the darkness. he was seen heading towards a restroom near the docks dressed in only boxers and a t-shirt. >> he was last seen at about 1:00 in the morning on his boat where he was spending the night with his wife and two friends. did he a limited underwater search where his boat is sparked at the dock and no trace of him so far. >> reporter: search dogs and teams of searchers from san mateo, contra costa and marin counties are expected to resume the search this morning along with the coast guard. van lier is founder of candid consultancy in san francisco. he works with a number of tech

firms. reporting live in tiburon, i'm chuck coppola. new details on an overnight brush fire that made it harder for people to get back to the bay from santa cruz. fire started just after 10:00 last night off of highway 17 near summit road. northbound lanes were temporarily shut down so fire trucks to get to those flames, but after about an hour crews managed to put that fire out. it burned half acre. traffic is flowing smoothly once again. happening later today, facing a judge, the three santa clara county correctional deputies accused of beating an inmate to death will be in court to answer to murder charges. "today in the bay" kris sanchez joining us now and, kris, all three could enter please today. >> reporter: we expect they plead not guilty as the judge reads those charges against them, murder, assault under the color of authority and conspiracy. at an arraignment we get our first look also at the charging documents which often include some of the details of the alleged crime. the three correctional deputies,

matthew farris, jereh lubrin and rafael rodriguez have been behind bars since their arrest on thursday. they are a used of beating a man to betting death in his cell on in the santa clara county. michael tyree had served his sentence and was in protective custody while awaiting a spot in a mental health if a sichlt while the sheriff expressed sore re, disappointment and disgust one of the correctional deputies, rafael rodriguez here professed his innocence, speaking from behind bars he told the mercury news that he never touched michael tyree and that his uniform from that day was clean. he was only in tyree's cell for a search he said. a day after the arrest people val yeed outside the jail where the three worked and where tiry died to demand that the district attorney prosecute the try owe to the fullest extent of the law. today the judge could also agree to terms for the release of the three correctional deputies. they have been behind bars since they were arrested.

now, we have filed the paperwork to have cameras in the courtroom at that time, whether or not the judge allows the cameras, though, our reporters will be there. sam and laura. >> thank you very much. the fate two of teens accused of murdering a paramedic in the oakland hills goes to a jury today. jurors are expected to begin deliberations in the trial of christian burton and david mckneel. they are accused of killing quinn boyer near his father's home more than two years ago. prosecutors say it was part of a crime spree by a group of teens that included carjackings, robly rhode island and two shootings. it is likely going to be a rough start to the school year for students at a peninsula school. counselor was killed in a weekend boating accident. michael harris just started a new job at menlo school this year as a counselor. the 26-year-old was with his girlfriend and three other people when their small boat was hit by another boat on the water near catalina island on sunday. their father, peter harris, is well known in the bay area. he is a former 49ers ceo.

thanks to a selfie. ==sam/ots== the woman who ditched chp officers, jumped off the bay welcome back. a follow-up now. the woman who evaded chp officers jumped off the bay bridge and then unbelievably hitched a ride home is now under arrest. erlynn sanchez-edwards was arrested in oakland. the chp says she crashed a stolen car on the bridge last month. officers say she tried to get away by jumping off the bridge, roughly a six story fall. sanchez-edwards then swam to shore, went back to the bridge and apparently hitched a ride home. authorities believe that she was intoxicated at the time and she is now facing several charges. when the napa valley wine train kicked off a group of african-american women for laughing too loudly it really outraged a lot of people. this morning another tour group

is offering a wine country trip, they say you can laugh as loudly as you want. this could make some other crowds upset. on september 26 the bay area's what they're calling the mexican bus will become the wine soul train. it will stop at african-american and latino-owned wineries. >> and the hole just digs deeper. san francisco city leaders are taking step to ease the housing crieses in that city. mayor ed lee is going to announce is new affordable housing initiative in morning. skyrocketing rents and new construction in places like the mission are forcing so many families out of the city. housing advocates are made many calls for the city to increase the amount of affordable housing options for low and middle income families. when it comes to the latest security tool for your credit card purchases you may sooner saying cheese. >> your selfie skills should help out. mastercard is testing a program allowing cardholders to authorize on line purchases with the selfie. right now it's just a trial run

arena. it's the end of burning man but also means the beginning of longer lines at the car wash. people are returning from that desert party and cars just covered in dustin side and out. the car wash in san francisco workers are calling them ghost cars. it costs $100 for a burning man cleanup, that's compared to the regular, $30 to $40. the car wash has more staff on duty this week alone to try to keep things moving. >> we will see 500 burning man cars over the next week. >> it's a lovely reminder, six months from now suddenly you will see a little bit of dust and be like, what? how is this still here? >> burners say no matter how much you scrub and rinse that dust never really goes a wachlt i guess like the memory. >> a little piece of dust for each crazy event of burning man. i don't even see how you could get rid of the dirt at all. fume gate that thing and you will still have the scent of something. >> of memories.

let's go hour by hour in livermore. 7:00, 62 degrees, then we are up to 75 degrees at 9:00. look at 11:00, it's 90, 97 degrees by 1:00, by 3:00 it's 101. you see the trend there. temperatures rising very quickly as we go through the dad. officials ask you to bike, carpool or use public transportation to reduce the carbon emissions. in the east bay, especially in the south bay, and then moderate -- moderate levels approaching the unhealthy levels of ozone in the air today. if you have asthma, breathing problems, you want to limit your time outdoors. we have all of this heat that's going to stay with us for a while, but some changes headed this way for the weekend. by sunday the sea breeze returns. look if he trend of the temperatures. though. we will go from over 100 degrees in livermore to 98 degrees, guess that's a little better, but it will still be hot, well above average. we will see that same thing as

we look across the bay area. north bay 90 degrees saturday, 84 degrees sunday, san francisco dropping back into the mid 70s and the peninsula will be around the up were 78 0s, 85 degrees on sunday. this hot weather it does continue. we're look toward the san mateo bridge, folks, westbound picking up the volume, moving smoothly across to the peninsula where the whether is starting for 101. let's show you the map. my concern for its san mateo bridge was because of this big backup approaching it, southbound 8806789 there was a crash at whipple, mostly off the roadway but sounds like the dits traction was enough to kick off that slower drive. now sorting itself out. spls' san mateo bridge, the dumbarton bridge. sourt of there there was a crash at thornton as well. never presented much of an issue: a slower drive developing for pleasanton and sunol for south 680 a pretty typical pattern. in the south bay your volume just starting to build up, a crash offer of the freeway near allen rock. i will let you knew sfths a

centers for disease control says the number of west nile cases reported every year it remains the same. it's the most common mosquito borne illness in the u.s. here in the bay area west nile virus has been found in eight counties, but human cases have only been reported in santa clara and solano counties. so far one person in california has died of west nile, but experts say less than 1% of west nile patients ever develop a serious illness. new federal guidelines go into effect less than a month from now to help doctors more accurately describe medical conditions for insurance companies. right now doctors' offices use a database of 14,000 codes to describe patient visits on insurance forms. starting october 1st there will be nearly five times as many codes. the goal is to make descriptions more specific to spot possible outbreaks. a california squirrel found dead near lake tahoe reportedly has tested positive for plague.

like everything is off to the shoulder. it is a distraction. an update to breaking news. crime scene tape, shat erds glass and bullet casings litter a san francisco street after gunmen open fire shooting two men at a bus stop. >> that was one of two overnight shootings in the city. this happened on the corner ever 24th and mission streets. hours earlier someone was shot near the corner of fulsome and serz. stephanie chuang is live in our san francisco newsroom this morning. they say there were multiple cameras there, all that surveillance video could be helpful in catches the gunmen. >> reporter: that's the hope here is that the faces of the shooters will be clear enough for investigators to point them out and help track them down because at this point the shooters behind both shootings are still on the run this morning. the most recent one happened around midnight near the 24th street bart station, police say two people planned to target at least one of the two victims standing near the bus stop on the corner, a man in his 20s who

police trying to figure out what led to a late night stabbing near the skroourz beach boardwalk, two people were stabbed but we're told both should be okay. the santa cruz sentinel nl reports it happened on beach street yesterday. police closed off part of the boardwalk for the investigation. all of this happened during one of the busiest days of the week at the boardwalk. no far no one has been arrest jood the anti-chinese graffiti in san francisco is gone but not forgotten. public works crews painted over hateful words that said no more chinese. the same words were found in five locations in the tame neighborhood. tommy lock lives across the street from where the words appeared. >> they shouldn't be in the neighborhood if they're not used to having different cultures around here. >> today crews will put the finishing touches on the cover up paint at each location the graffiti color, words and lettering exact lit same suggesting the same person or group might be responsible for all of that tagging.

as we take a live look from at&t park towards san francisco a clear start to the day and all of that sunshine will make for another hot day on the embarcadero once again. now it is 63 degrees in san francisco, 53 in the north bay as its sunrises, we are now in the lower 60s in the south bay and jumping up to 101 today in the south bay, east bay 96 degrees, tri-valley 103, san francisco getting in on that sizzling action, too, 96 degrees today in the north bay, 98 degrees. if you have asthma, breathing problems, today you want to limit your time outside. officials ask you to bike or use public transportation or carpool to get to work to reduce the carbon emissions, it will be approaching unhealthy levels of ozone in the air today. if you are heading to the beach it will still be warm on area beaches, too. pacifica today topping out at 89 degrees, winds from the northwest not much of a wind 5 to 10 miles an hour, half moon

bay a high of 86 degrees and just like yesterday will be near 90 degrees in santa cruz on the boardwalk, it will be hot, but the water temperatures are in the mid 60s right now, which is of course still warm. this weekend we will have a change, we are track ago hurricane that is south of baja, california. that may spread some clouds into the bay area towards the end of the weekend. here we are on sunday, we start to see the blue here indicating an increase in humidity, that's what's going picked up in the computer models. hopefully we can squeeze rain out of this, but that won't happen until early next week. in the meantime we have to deal with highs in the upper 90s, even this weekend it's going to be hot, 92 degrees in san jose and a look at all of the microclimates, this heat not really budging that had, but at least we are coming down from the highs over 100 degrees in the tri-valley, it will be 98, that the not much better. 93 degrees on sunday and hopefully we will continue to see the trend of improving

weather heading into next week. i will keep up to date on that. right now mike is keeping you up to date on the commute. good morning. we are looking at 92, highway 92 over san mateo bridge where the volume kicking in right now, we see slower speed no incidents on the span, though. look at your map, the san mateo and dumbarton bridges which take you over from the nimitz freeway into the peninsula. you see things swimmer down for the nimitz. same thing for 680 behind me down through the tri-valley typical flow. build for concord and pleasant hill. 680 and 242 coming down toward 24 as we have a general whether here, the earlier disabled vehicle with a bus -- sorry, with a boat and trailer, looks like it's out of lanes, i'm still going to keep it on the report. a couple crashes heading toward the maze. nothing of note except the bay bridge toll plaza a crash moving from lanes before you get to the toll plaza itself.

the northbound routes continue the gentle build, san jose and moving up door toward the rest of silicon valley. palo alto the volume starts to build for the northbound side, southbound starts to slow as you head past the university avenue overcrossing and on ramp where folks merge into traffic. you know all about this, mike. tapping today, changes coming to the evening commute on the golden gate bridge. we have a live look at the bridge this morning, everything normal now, it will stay that way through the morning commute, but this afternoon drivers headed from san francisco to marin county will have an extra lane. the extra lane will be added from 4:00 to 6:00 in the evening when the northbound commute is heaviest. that equals four northbound lanes two, southbound lanes. the lane allotment for the morning commute will stay the same. it's going to be a somber start to the school year at a peninsula school, a counselor there killed in a weekend boating accident. michael harris had just started a new job at menlo school in
