to 4796. back over to you. i see mike over there getting ready for his traffic report. here is something he might find interesting, a european court has ruled going to and from work is work if you don't have a specific workplace. for instance, you are a construction worker that's going to move around the project, right? so going to the project could be considered and should be considered part of your hours work. now, if you work in an office or store and you choose to live 20 miles away that's your problem, but if you are asked to show up at a different place at the start of the day, you are an inspector, salesman, your hours start when you walk out the front door. now, this is only in europe, but i think it's a great idea. >> so are you saying because -- i'm sorry -- that you can like write off your miles and taxes or -- >> no, you would literally be paid. when your boss said, all right, at 8:00 i want you to be in milpitas tomorrow and in novato the next day, well, then you're working the minute you step out the door. >> you're being paid by the
5:18 am
minute basically which means all these people are going to be going to take 101 instead of avoiding it. >> this is europe so how about the m 4. yeah. >> the auto baun. >> yes. mike, you're getting a lot of love there. >> scott is absolutely right. driving is work anyway. also i like how he pointed to milpitas and novato and it was exactly perfect gesturing right there. >> apparently he can point at maps, too, weather, who knows where scott is going to move next. if you're sitting in traffic today on the way to the job site it will be hot, air conditioner on, especially later on today. not so bad as we start out, but we do have a mild start to the morning as we take a live look at san jose. it is all clear out there, but we're not seeing clear conditions all across the bay area this morning as you step out the door. it is 55 degrees in the north bay, now san francisco 57 degrees, you can see the fog on
5:19 am
the map there. also in coastal peninsula 67 degrees and in the south bay we start out at 67 degrees there. it is still going to be hot today, but it does come down if you are along the immediate coast, you are seeing the fog this morning, temperatures will be a little bit better, but our wind is also going to pick up as we go through the day. mostly a calm wind to start and here we are at lunchtime, you are sitting outside, enjoying lunch and the breeze is coming in at about 10 to 15 miles an hour, up to 20 miles an hour at dinnertime. so maybe not wanting to sit outside, but as we head into the weekend we will have some changes here. we're watching the remnants of linda who was a tropical system out there just to the west of cabo, it will be surging up the coast bringing some rain for southern california but we do also expect some of that to dry out and the possibility of some rain and maybe even some thunderstorms as the humidity increases, here we are early sunday morning and there could be some rain falling for parts of the bay area. looks like mainly the south bay
5:20 am
will have the highest chance of seeing at least a rumble of thunder, some lightning and then also a slight chance of rain. so as the humidity increases our temperatures will come down, but it will not feel any more comfortable. we will have still some more of that warm weather this weekend. so if you are heading out to the mountain view art festival, art and wine festival, it will be 81 degrees but with the surge in humidity we will definitely feel that on sunday. it will be 76 degrees so kind of about the same. a chance of showers and storms, some lightning also for southern california. if you will be traveling you will want to keep an eye out for that. let's see how the commute is moving with mike. it's moving very well but i do want to call out south of the bay area we have 152 westbound coming over from i-5 past dinosaur point we still have one line closed because of that fire and activity there. keep that in mind if you are expecting anybody coming from south land, for example, in toward the bay area. we are looking to the our roads, the south bay and tri-valley moving well, but the tri-valley
5:21 am
does have a build, a little slowing through livermore, nothing dramatic near the dublin interchange and the bay bridge toll plaza a little more traffic flow. we will end with this shot, show you the folks over on the right approach pausing for cash. 100 women, 100 miles. >> a group of san francisco women join a nationwide campaign in support of migrant workers and it's taking them far from home.
