more people in northern california may have to evacuate today as a fast moving wildfire inches closer to their homes. tens of thousands of acres burning in the butte fire. it is showing no signs of letting up soon. nbc's gadi schwartz is in california for us this morning. gadi, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, craig. this fire is moving fast. from yesterday to today, it has grown in size from 30,000 acres to 60,000 acres. containment is slipping as homes and buildings are in harm's way. unrelenting. >> that fire has to be gone a good couple hundred feet in the air. >> reporter: firefighters red e reduced to silhouettes against the wildfire. heaving the destructive power overnight. >> temperatures of 101 to 107 degrees. >> reporter: it's been a nonstop fight for the last three days.

of mistaken identity this week. on friday, the nypd released the video of blake thrown to the ground by the undercover officer. nbc's rehema ellis has more. >> reporter: a warm around of applause friday night for james brake. earlier that day police released the video showing blake's mistaken arrest. the tennis star is standing outside texting when plain clothe officer james frascatore wraps an arm around blake's neck and tackles him to the ground putting him in handcuffs. blake says he was detained for ten minutes and police used excessive force. even though he says he never resisted. police say this was a case of mistaken identity. but the commissioner is investigating. >> was the force used appropriate and the initial review we believe it may not have been. >> reporter: police and the mayor have apologized to blake.
