we have new details about the valley fire. it grew overnight and containment did not. here are the latest numbers. the fire burned 73,700 acres. two people have been killed and four people are missing. firefighters have the fire 35 feet contained and hope another day of temperate weather will help them gain more ground today. the butte fire has proven deadly as well. two bodies found in burned debris in calaveras county. we'll check weather and traffic after the break.

it's thirsty thursday, with a special edition of ambush makeovers. in honor of childhood cancer awareness month. >> thanks to the volunteer power charity dedicated to raising money for cancer research, we found two wonderful women who knew too well what it's like to have a child to suffered from the disease. >> today, our contributors, celebrity stylist and style expert gave these moms a makeover. >> these are terrific people you found. >> yes. it was an honor to work on these people. so brave. so much courage. >> the first mom is a married mother of two. her name is jerry shepherd.

here's her story. >> my name is jerry shepherd. in 2009, my husband and i heard the words, "your son has leukemia." in an instant, we fell apart. our son, maddox, was 2 1/2 at the time, and my heart ached to think of the journey he'd endure. the devastating news didn't stop there. soon after, i was diagnosed with breast cancer, while my little boy was in treatment for his cancer. as i fought my own battle, it would be my brave son that gave me courage. thankfully, 2012 marked the end of both of our treatments. maddox is 9 years old and in remission, and i am cancer free. >> yay! we're so excited. jerry is here with her husband, brad. her son, maddox, now 9 years old, and daughter, danica, who is 8. keep your blindfolds on, okay? i'll give you the green light when it's ready. ready, maddox? >> yeah.
