let's see how the traffic is moving now with mike. >> we are starting in the south bay because two crashes in the same area. looks like everything is off to the shoulder but the one at tully we have one lane blocked right now and sounds like they have trouble moving that car. that means a backup starting to form for north 101 and 87 also slowing into downtown and seeing the build for the south bay. the rest of your bay looks pretty standard as far as that flow. the tri-valley and 880 through hayward getting over to hayward and oakland. we have this slowing as you approach 14th street. east 14th the auoff ramp is clod because of sheriff deputy activity and we have the freeway open and the flares are a distraction and the reason why it's closed, we'll hand it back to the desk. laura? breaking news we're covering this morn, mike. a suspect killed by alameda deputies in san leandro carjacked and shot someone earlier in the night. deputies started chasing the

suspect after the suspect allegedlyjacked someone in oakland. they say he tried to carjack a second person near 238 in san leandro but was unsuccessful. reportedly fired and then deputies shot back killing the suspect. the carjacking victim was taken to the hospital and the condition is now unknown. after much anticipation, pope francis is on his way to washington, d.c., today. his first trip to america and millions of catholics are anxiously waiting to catch a glimpse of him. streets are shutting down ahead of the pope's arrival. tens of thousands of people expected to greet the pontiff at the white house. the white house will welcome pope francis he arrives at andrews air force base later this afternoon. during his visit, pope francis will meet with president obama and then hold a mass at the basilica in washington. on thursday, he's planning on addressing the congress. then on friday pope francis will be in new york to speak to the united nations general assembly

and hold mass at madison square garden. the pope's u.s. visit ends sunday in philadelphia where he'll hold another outdoor mass in the city of brotherly love. police in palo alto want you to take a good look at this. they say this man punched a woman in the head and fistole h purse all while she was walking with her baby. "today in the bay" kris sanchez live in palo alto. this happened on a busy street while it was still light outside. >> certainly as appalling as the crime was, it appeared the suspect waited until that woman bent to soothe her crying baby to make his move. this happened yesterday afternoon just before 7:00 on the 3100 block of middlefield road as the woman was pushing her baby stroller on the sidewalk. palo alto police say the mother had bent down to soothe the baby as the baby was crying and the suspect came up from behind and grabbed her purse off her shoulder and punched her in the head and then off. police say several witnesses

tried to trail that suspect to loma verde avenue and then lost him. they were able to help police with a sketch as was the woman. we showed it to you and we'll show it to you, again. the suspect described as a stalky, hispanic man in his 20s between 5'3" and 5'6". take a look at his beard. it is just a beard, not the mustache part. he is wearing a sweatshirt with a hood pulled over a baseball cap. palo alto are hoping anyone with with information will give them a call to see if they can apprehend the suspect. though they say at this point, he doesn't match the description in any other robberies or assaults in palo alto. by the way, though that woman was punched in the head with such force, she is going to be okay and the baby was unharmed. in palo alto, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." three workers at a sunnyvale charter school out of a job this morning. workers have not specifiedly

why. all three employees were assistants at the school and one is jonathan chow who is in jail on charges that he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl. the school claims it didn't know until after chow's arrest that almost none of the school's employees had undergone fingerprinting or actually had a background check. the school's board meeting last night the parents demanded to know why more wasn't done to protect their kids. >> i'm angry the school didn't communicate to us that that diiddoodii didn't do background checks. >> the school poerd says it since collected background checks on all of its employees and the county will begin reviewing them today. the suspect in the sexual assault spoke exclusively to nbc bay area. jonathan chow told us in a jailhouse interview he tried to communicate with his alleged victim. chow says he wrote a letter to the 8-year-old girl he is accused of sexually assaulting. he wouldn't say what he wrote and made it very clear that he did not want to comment on anything that could compromise his court case.

also emfued he wanted to keep the media attention away from his family. >> judge me for what i have done and do not drag my family into this. i have done what i have done. >> chow told our robert honda he is aware of reports based on court documents that say he confessed. he declined to comment and said he would wait for his case to play out in court. well, it's been devastating to thousands of people who live here and now to the very latest on the valley fire. more than 1,000 families have lost everything. governor brown is pleading and turning to the president asking for federal help. >> "today in the bay" stephanie chuang and the governor wants president obama to declare the valley fire a natural disaster. >> after all, this is the fourth most destructive wildfire in california history known as mega fire. and it's left thousands homeless some people still here at the county fairgrounds evacuation center and 3,100 homes, by the

way, still threatened by cal fire. the valley fire killed three people and even more presumed dead. again, according to cal fire. governor brown wrote a letter to the president outlining how the state is stretched very thin this year sending more than 11,000 firefighters to battle five active fires that have burned almost 400,000 acres and in the last two years alone on wildfire spending, $200 million for additional emergency firefighting. now, neighborhoods are completely burned down along with the destruction of nearly 1,000 power poles and the loss of critical water and communication systems. the federal money would help people repair, rebuild and replace their houses and under fema's individual assistance program provide services like disaster case management, legal services, crisis counseling and, of course, temporary housing. a difficult situation as so many will have to live likely pretty far from home. to help with this transition, a shift to put people in evacuation center and a new one in middletown at the twin pine

casino and that is the thought to help people with this transition period by being closer to home and cut out this 35 to 40-minute drive in between. live here in calistoga, stephanie chuang 6:07. happening today, no alcohol after halftime at levi stadium. that's the idea up for discussion at tonight's santa clara city council meeting. >> chuck coppola joining us live. this all stems from recent violence captured on camera between fans at 49ers games. >> absolutely right, sam. good morning. this, this incident of a fight in the stands really took off. it was captured video and went viral and it is now prompted city council members here in santa clara as the stadium authority board to reconsider the alcohol policy at levi stadium. between niners fans and a minnesotaings fan was captured on cell phone camera and not only battered the participants but santa clara's reputation. with the super bowl coming here

at the end of the season, stadium authority board, city council members on it will consider stopping all alcohol sales after half-time. >> looking at monitoring the patrons as they enter into levi stadium to see what, how drunk they are. if they're too drunk, they're not allowed in. because a lot of what is happening is they're tailgating to the extreme. and by the time they get into the stadium, they're even well past, you know, where they really should be. >> i just don't really know if that is going to solve everything. the reason being, we're dealing with a very small amount of fans that are misbehaving. >> now, cutting sales and restricting intoxicated fans are measures that are taken in other stadiums. the council meets tonight at 7:00 p.m. at city hall. the stadium board comprised of the five council members and others will meet right after that. live in santa clara, i'm chuck coppola. >> thanks a lot, chuck. tough sell to fans.

we'll see what happens with that. meanwhile your weather and a bit of a break, kari, thank you. >> we're welcoming this weather after having to be held hostage inside by the sizzling temperatures we had the past couple of days. we start out in the lower 60s this morning. and some clouds, too. but that will all clear out for some sunshine and a high of 88 degrees today in los gatos. the outer sunset today at 67 degrees. 88 degrees in fairfield and napa 84 degrees and oakland 74 degrees. in livermore expect a high of 86. and a nice little break now, but it will be warming up the next couple of days. i'll show you that and a look ahead to the weekend. that is coming up a little bit later. let's check in now with mike. >> a full toll plaza. look at that beautifully lit area because of all the lights. we have a backup all the way towards about west grand avenue as we look at our maps. no big slowing and nothing unexpected for a tuesday and we have that build on a tuesday for the east shore freeway, as well.

highway 4, your second crash of the morning right at willow pass road and bay point. by the time you geet 680, though, things are moving slowly through the walnut creek interchange. down towards the tri-valley nice flow of traffic and until you reach 238 and the castro valley slowing typically there anyway but more slowing because of a distraction and the flares are closing off the east 14th street off ramp because of the sheriff's activity and the investigation we're continuing to follow. a smooth drive southbound 880, just your typical build down through hayward and no big surprises for the south bay, either the earlier crashes look like they have cleared from the roadway and 101 actually looking pretty calm for right now. this is 6:10 on a tuesday, remember. things will kick in by 6:30 and see more slowing. >> see you with moreidates. thanks, mike. new health warning in one east bay city may have something in place before buy agnew cell

a live picture from "el cobre, cuba." pope francis celebratg happening now. a live picture from cuba. where pope francis celebrating mass before leaving cuba. for his first visit to the united states. we'll have much more on his upcoming visit coming up at 6:30 this morning. back at home now. two police officers recovering from minor injuries after a shootout with two suspects at a target parking lot in monterey. the suspect died at the scene. happened yesterday afternoon right off highway 1 a miles off of monterey. the two police officers were serving search warrants to two suspects and the suspects allegedlied shooting. the police fired back killing them. the officer suffered minor injuries. 6:14. now to an nbc bay area follow up. a controversial plan to explore coal through the port of oakland is raising questions about safety in the east bay. hundreds of people packed a public hearing at city hall in oakland last night. construction workers say allowing coal at a new terminal

they'll build is good for the economy. but environmentalists say coal has serious health impacts. former mayor jean joined the debate to say it did not mention coal exports during negotiations. a claim supporters of the plan disagree with. >> always been described as a false commodity terminal. and if you google bulk commodities, you're going to see coal. >> the fastest way to provide jobs for the poor construction workers that were dragged here. the fastest way to build the or original plans and not to export toxic coal. >> the city council asked to do more research and report back in october. council members say if there are negative health impacts, they might explore emergency action to stop the export of coal from the ports. in the east bay now with a partial victory for the city of berkeley and it new cell phone warning requirement. the law has been on hold since it took effect back in june. the warning requires cell phone

retailers to provide a written notice about possible radiation exposure. the industry is vigorously fighting berkeley and requested an injunction. yesterday a federal judge ruled the ordinance can proceed, but the judge did require berkeley to remove a statement in that warning suggesting that the radiation risk is greater for children. 6:16. today hillary clinton will veil a plan that limits how much money pharmaceutical companies can charge for drugs. >> scott, hillary has gone so far to call it price gouging. that hit the stock market hard, sam. a lot of pharmaceutical companies got hurt yesterday. now the subject of the accusation was a company called touring pharmaceuticals. the company that bought the rights to a drug used by hiv and cancer patients. and they raised the price 5,000%. let's talk more about touring pharmaceuticals. really, not a pharmaceutical company at all.

a hedge fund run by this guy. he knows a lot about money, not necessarily a lot about drugs. he used to work for jim cramer's hedge fund. he said the profits will be used to make better versions of this drug. doctors tell "the new york times" they're perfectly happy with the old one that has been on the market for more than 50 years. he's really not doing himself any favors pr wise, either. somebody tweeted to him, hey, how do you sleep at night? which the ceo answered, ambien. his twitter account followed interesting pictures. this is not going to help him at all as he tries to defend raising the price of sick people's pills. tech crunch disrupt continues today in san francisco. gathering of developers and venture capitalists and led to cool companies getting attention. one of the highlights is this battle of start ups. somebody goes home with a check. you coin the phrase, i hope it's not pampering. hope it's something that does something more than help

we're setting the stage for what will be a much more comfortable day. it is 57 degrees now in the north bay and the peninsula is at 61 degrees. here is a look at the high temperatures this afternoon. 70s and 80s so much better in my opinion than those 90s and 100 degree temperatures we had yesterday. and the wind coming in from the northwest and, you know, we had, we'll have more of a breezy wind. onshore flow that will keep those temperatures from warming up as rapidly as we had the past couple days. wind coming in from the west up from 15 to 20 miles per hour. strong ocean breeze and also the morning clouds. we'll see clearing out as we go through the morning and by late morning at 1:00, we're at 66 degrees in oakland and 67 degrees for a couple hours during the middle of the day and then rising into the low 70s by early afternoon. we had high pressure that was just off to the east of us. it was fighting back that ocean breeze and we have those highs near 100 degrees inland.

the onshore winds will increase today. and morning clouds and fog also along the immediate coast. and as the marine layer deepens, that is the humidity above the surface. creating those clouds and the fog. we will have a cooling trend ahead, at least for a little while. here's a look at those temperatures today and tomorrow in the low 70s in san francisco and then it starts to warm up without the onshore flow and the clouds during the morning. this weekend will be warm to start. low 90s back in the south bay on friday, saturday looking a little bit better and then comes down to the 80s and some 60s in san francisco and we will have 78 degrees as the high in the peninsula on sunday. so, if you're looking for a day to get outside, i think sunday. so, point to be the best day this weekend. now, let's check in with mike. >> look over here towards the south bay. looking at really nice and actually it's oddly light as far as this traffic flow goes. look at your map for the south

bay or look at our map we have with the speed sensors slowing and two earlier crashes actually leered from the area now and we have a slower drive just gently building. we expect to see more traffic. now, i expect this to really hit hard over the next half hour by 7:00 we'll see a lot more slowing still. we'll track this for the south bay. meanwhile, a smooth drive for 680 and your typical build for pleasanton off the castro valley or dublin interchange and slowing into livermore an earlier right around livermore boulevard and that caused more slowing. closure continues off of northbound 238 because of sheriff's activity in the area and talking about that investigation that continues. freeway 238 is open and those flares will a distraction and slow build over here for the east shore freeway and drive through the toll plaza because those metering lights are on. we'll show you one of the other connectors, the san mateo westbound does pick up that volume and no delays for the peninsula just yet. all these folks are heading over there. back to you. once you're in your, new

escaped last night. cornelius was found overnight. 6:25 right now. keep those toddlers rear facing in their car seats seem to be the law here in california. governor jerry brown signed the bill monday that requires children younger than 2 and the current requirement is for kids under 1 to be rear facing. pediatrician recommended age 2 for several years the academy of pediatrics says it protects the head and spine much better in the case of a crash. californians have a new resource to help them save money on their medical bills. california health care company is an online tool that allows you to find and compare the cost of medical procedures at different hospitals. it also rates the quality of the hospital. the goal is to help patients savy and know beforehand just how much they're paying out of pocket.

work day in the books. mike inouye has a look at your morning drive. we start with kari hall with your microclimate forecast. >> a welcome change from some high heat we had to deal with over the latter part of the weekend and yesterday. as we start out this morning, you see the clouds are back and after they slowly clear this morning, we will have some air that is not as warm. with a high of 71 degrees san francisco, the north bay up to 83 degrees and the south bay 85. peninsula 78 degrees and 79 in the east bay. but, we will have some warmer air, little bit warmer heading into the end of the week. i'll show you that coming up and right now mike shows you white house what's happening on the roads. >> we have a volume increase. this is the fremont and we're looking at southbound with these headlights down into pill pemil

and 880 through oakland holding up. right now an easy drive down the east shore freeway and highway 4 over here your second crash has finally cleared and highway 4 westbound and this is not a crash over here in san leandro. we see the build coming out for 880. we have the off ramp at east 14th street closed and likely closed for the morning because of activity in the area. an investigation and flares so that's going to cause some distraction. if you want to get off of the area, use hisperian boulevard. an daup tite breaking news. investigators say a suspect killed by alameda county deputies in san leandro carjacked and shot someone earlier in the night. deputies started chasing that suspect and the suspect allegedly carjacked someone in oakland. he tried to carjack a second near 238 and east 14th street in san leandro but was unsuccessful the second time around. he reportedly then fired at deputies who shot back and killed that suspect.

pope will address the united nations. he'll celebrate mass at madison square garden and, again, outdoors in philadelphia. more than a million are expected there. americans looking for a blessing. and maybe looking for some guidance, too. this is not designed to be a political visit, but he's going to be talking with politicians. our lawmakers here, international leaders in new york and a lot of people are wondering how much the pope will focus on climate changes. an area where he has been very outspoken before. laura, sam. >> thank you very much, tracie. the pope's visit is special for the bay area and also a little controversial. pope francis will cannelize at peninsula high school park the statue honor father serra and many native americans say his missions tortured thousands of natives and asking the pope not to deem serra a saint.

i just spoke with a man named paul who was walking out here with his dog. it is the last place under a mandatory evacuation order. he said, i just want to know when i can go home. he is one of the last remaining people here at the evacuation center in calistoga. used to be dozens of tents and now thinned out especially with the major evacuation orders lifted the last three days. the fire victims have gotten short-term help and asking president obama to approve federal money that would go to long-term fixes and helping people repair and rebuild their homes. brown told the valley fire story using numbers. three dead, and even more presumed dead. four firefighters injured and thousands of people now homeless. people like maria vazquez who says the cheapest rent she's found was $2,500. almost four times what she was paying before. >> because i don't have any help now. it's very hard for me finding somebody to rent for me for five person.

>> the governor pointed to the need for temporary housing for hundreds of families likely a long distance from lake county. the fire also destroyed almost 1 poles and destroyed drinking water systems that are completely. there is important movement. again, the only place under mandatory evacuation order is cobb. the people here still waiting to hear when they can go home. live in calistoga, stephanie chuang. police in palo alto want you to take a good look at this sketch. they say this man punched a woman in the head and stole her purse as she was walking with her baby. violent episodes at the stadium. chuck coppola joining us at levi. this all stemming from recent violence from fans at 49ers games. >> that's right. a viral video caught the attention of city council members, as well as the stadium authority board here in santa clara. now, the stadium authority board is made up of the mayor, vice council members and others and that board may decide to cut off alcohol sales. the meeting happens tonight following the city council meeting at city hall, which begins at 7:00 p.m. it's all a fallout from drunken fights that happened september 14th. captured on video that went viral. council members want to solve this issue of public drunkenness that police say accounts for most of the 30 arrests per game. >> and we want tareally clean this up and really make it shine for super bowl. next february we want them to have a great reputation in this entire bay area and make sure that people know when they come to levi stadium, they're coming to a safe, family-friendly

past couple of days. still warm this afternoon, reaching 83 degrees in san jose and 79 degrees in redwood city. financial distric at 71 degrees. cooler there and in napa it will be 84. also 84 in pittsburgh and dublic today topping out at 86 degrees. our temperatures about average as we get ready to officially begin fall. i'll talk more about that and check out the weekend and that's coming up in about six minutes. let's check in now with mike. >> all right, kari, i want to show folks video from our chopper. activity just off of 238 and the reason they have east 14th street off ramp closed. the curve as you come off of the freeway police activity and the sheriff deputy investigation continues over there because of an overnight shooting. we're following the story, of course, as the news piece but traffic wise they're slowing as you approach and the flares are a distraction. out to your maps and you'll see how you have a slower drive. nothing dramatic, but, still, 238 is slow through the area and the build, of course, right now through that same area evident

polls in battleground state iowa ... but now - "scott walker" - is out. last night ending his campaign for the republican presidential nomination. he was one of the last candidates to enter the race. last night he said, more republican presidential candidates should quit and "clear the field." so he says someone can take down frontrunner donald trump. one candidate who is still staying in and shaping her platform, democratic candidate hillary clinton laying out a new plan today to make prescription drugs more affordable. her plan would cap out of pocket costs, kill tax breaks for director consumer advertising and encourage the development

and the use of cheaper drugs. yesterday clinton tweeted a link to a "new york times" article about drug prices calling the situation "outrageous." her comments led to a plunge in shares of biotech and drug companies. in the meantime the top female contenderappeared. >> vladimir putin is saying he to meet with trump when he comes here and he wants to sit down and have a conversation with him. you've met putin. >> i have. the two have in a lot in common, actually. we'll just leave it at that. >> fiorina is now second to trump. but apparently still taking a jab right back. still second in the latest gop presidential polls. some in germany this morning calling the scandal involving the recall of all those

volkswag volkswagen. >> recall a half million cars sold here in america because they cheat on tests. >> volkswagen said this morning, sam, it will set aside $7 billion in case they have to pay fines. keep in mind, gm paid about $1 billion in fines and its problems killed people. the overall value of vw fell $15 billion yesterday. the company is in serious trouble. vw accused of using the chips in its cars to vary the amount of exhaust, essentially detecting when it's being smogged and then act like a clean diesel and then went out on the road spew 40 times the pollutants allowed by law. the u.s. has launched a criminal probe. german newspapers this morning wonder if theal will forever damage. some in europe are also asking that all companies be inspected to see if their chips do the same thing.

>> we're still going up and down and been all over the place. >> bazillion degree temperatures over the past couple odays. won't be that hot this afternoon as we start out with some clouds and take a live look at the golden bridge. at least you can see it. we have seen some clear mornings the past few days and the clouds will with us for a little while and clearing out to give us sunshine later this afternoon. our it empturestemperatures in 50s and a high today of 71 grees can be expected in san francisco in the south bay 85 degrees and 83 degrees the high in the north bay. and the wind that will make it feel cool and keep temperatures from warming up very rapidly this afternoon. the wind coming in from the north and west at about 15 to 20 miles per hour during that evening commute during the evening. it will feel a little bit better as we go through the day. as we go hour-by-hour in

livermore. a lot of sunshine there and warming up into the lower 80s by lunchtime and 1:00 and by 3:00 we in the 80s and then drop back into the 70s in time for dinner. as you get ready for bed, taking your dog out one last time. it will be in the lower 60s. we had high pressure just to the east of us and it kept us from getting a strong ocean breeze. now that that is moving away, we will have the onshore winds increasing. morning clouds and fog and as the marine layer deepens, that layer of humidity with the clouds, that will give us some cooler temperatures, not only today but tomorrow. and then it starts to warm up as we get closer to the weekend. it will be 82 degrees in san francisco on friday. but then by saturday, we're dropping it back off, again. so, a look at all the microclimates. a warm start to the weekend. our temperatures still going up and down. a warm start on friday and, as well as saturday, but sunday we'll have another push of cool air moving in and our highs mostly be in the 70s and 80s all across the bay.

so, sunday, the cooler day of the weekend. let's check in now with mike. >> all right, kari, start in the south bay where we start to see the burst of traffic that we expected causing more slowing for north 101 and this is the trend as we look at our maps. the entire south bay shows a slower drive as far as the build from san jose and moving up towards silicon valley. more gentle than we often see on a tuesday and looking at probably 7:30, 8:00 for a big burst of traffic, again, to really start filling in these roads. we have seen the slower drive develop for 880 south from hayward and fremont passing bogue the san mateo and the dumbarton bridges. and everything is on the shoulder, but distraction adds toilatal more slowing there. looking towards the approaching and shows a nice, easy drive. slowing a bit and typical there and slowing for 24 off of walnut creek where that build comes over from concord and into lafayette. look at the san mateo bridge.

making their way to the peninsula from now 101 through san mateo through pallo alot because of traffic over at the dumbarton, waback to you. spark charter school fired three workers this morning and administrators won't say specifically why. but all three employees were assistants at the school. one of them is jonathan chow, who is in jail right now on charges that he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl. the school claims he didn't know until after chow's arrest that almost none of the school's employees had undergone fingerprinting or a background check. school board says it since collected backgrounds on all of its employees and the county is going to begin reviewing them later today. 6:52. coming up, a mother attacked while pushing a stroller with a baby inside. the sketch police on the peninsula now want you to see. an update to breaking news. this after a chaotic and violent night on east bay streets.

an update to breaking news: ==sam/vo== a car-jacking and police chase ends with t an update now to breaking news. a carjacking and police chase ends with a dead suspect and the victim is in the hospital right now. investigators say the alameda county deputies shot and killed that suspect in san leandro and deputies started chasing the suspect and allegedly carjacked someone in oakland.

they tried to carjack a second person near 238 and east 14th street in san leandro but the second time was unsuccessful. he reportedly fired at those deputies who shot back killing the suspect. today we could hear from president obama about getting more emergency help for the victims of the valley fire. >> "today in the bay" stephanie chuang joining aus live in calistoga. a state of natural disaster. >> that's right, sam and laura. asking really for help and cash for families in need here. the people who are homeless after the valley fire. and some are still here. day 11 here at the evacuation center. the valley fire is the fourth most destructive wildfire in california history killing three people. even more presumed dead, according to cal fire. governor brown writing that letter to the president yesterday outlining how the state is stretched very thin. the valley fire has burned down neighborhood and taking down 1,000 power poles and water and communications.

the federal money would help people repair, rebuild and also help with temporary housing. a difficult situation as so many will have to live far way from home. just here yesterday the woman said her house in middletown burned down and she doesn't want to go back to look at it. that's how tough it is for people right now. >> i'm kris sanchez in palo alto where police are looking for a suspect who hit a mother in the face as she was bent over soothing her crying baby and then stole her purse. this happened yesterday evening just before dusk in the 3100 block of middlefield road as the woman was pushing her baby stroller along on the sidewalk. police say that the mother bent to soothe the baby and the man came up from behind and stole her purse and assaulted her. police say several witnesses tried to trail the suspect and lost them, though they did get enough details for this sketch. they say he is described as a stalky hispanic man in his 20s between 5'3" and 5'6" the suspect has a full beard and was

wearing a sweatshirt with a hood pulled over the baseball cap. police in palo alto hope to apprehend this robber before he strikes again. i'm chuck coppola most stadiums stop selling alcohol after the third quarter. but levi stadium may consider stop selling alcohol after halftime. banning alcohol sales isn't the only option considered. intoxicated fans may be stopped from coming into the stadium. it wouldn't be the first alcohol sales stopped at halftime and at qual came stadium alcohol is reduced from two beer limit to one beer. the city council meets tonight at 7:00 p.m. the stadium authority board after that vote at santa clara.
