how are you feeling? >> i feel great. >> doing really good. now it's time to play with fire. let's learn a little bit about anyssa barbosa. >> my greatest accomplishment was to receive my athletic scholarship to play softball. it's a goal i worked for all through high school. i did miss out on a lot. i was traveling to play games and finally getting my scholarship and getting that call, hey, you we want you to come play for me. that was probably one of the biggest moments in my life. i felt i had reached a milestone in my life. in college i learned that i loved to be involved and i can handle a lot. and i did well under pressure. that's something i really discovered. from playing softball and being involved in school and campus and things like that. . anyssa thank you for sharing that story. also, things are intriguing. i know that you lived in prison territory. how is that? explain to me? >> my dad worked for the texas

house speaker john boenher, third in line to the president, is one of the most powerful republicans in washington. his decision to step down as speaker of the house stunned the entire political world. still, with or without speaker boehner, washington will remain a sharply divided place. >> heads up, guys. >> reporter: washington is waking up this morning to a new reality. this man of the house is leaving a house divided. a decision he made friday. >> woke up, and i said my prayers, as i always do. decided, you know, today's the day i'm going do this. as simple as that. >> reporter: the move comes a day after boehner, a devout catholic, welcomed the pope to the u.s. capitol. and after years of budget battles, revolts from his own party, and a gridlocked congress. >> it's become clear that this prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable harm to the institution. >> reporter: the move sparked cheers from some rank and file republicans who were trying to oust him. >> speaker boehner announced that he will be resigning.

[ wild cheers ] >> reporter: one immediate result -- speaker boehner said he would try to prevent a government shutdown at least for a little while by forcing a vote on a short-term spending bill. conservatives threatening a shutdown in a battle over funding for planned parenthood. will boehner's departure ease the partisan bitterness on capitol hill? >> if anything, the tone in washington is likely to become more and not less confrontational. >> reporter: the chances for agreement on issues like immigration and climate change unlikely. the man expected to take boehner's place, majority leader kevin mccarthy, whom boehner all but endorsed on friday. the same day president obama called boehner a good man while looking to the future. >> i'm looking forward to working with the next speaker. in the meantime, john's not going to leave for another 30 days. so hopefully he feels like getting as much stuff done as he possibly can. and i'll certainly be looking forward to working with him on that.

>> reporter: even if speaker boehner averts a shutdown for now, there are still big battles looming including the highway bill and debt limit. fights boehner will be happy to sit out this time around. >> a got of glamor at the white house last night, right? the president and mrs. obama hosting hundreds for a state dinner with the chinese president. all eyes were on michelle obama. >> reporter: that's right. it was a lot of pomp and circumstance and also some diplomacy here at the white house. president obama hosting an official state dinner for the president of china, xi jinping. a lot of big names in attendance. as you mentioned, it was michelle obama, the first lady, who wowed the crowd with an off-the-shoulder black dress and side-swept hair. now, the night canned a day in which -- capped a day in which the leader announced that neither the u.s. nor chinese governments will engage in cybertheft of intellectual property. still, president obama noted he wants to see china's words followed by actions. and a little bit of a lighter moment earlier today, also including michelle obama with china's first lady who named the new panda at the national zoo.

they are preparing in philly and have been for a year, the police department there, for the huge crowds expected there today. he has wall-to-wall events in philadelphia today and tomorrow. including a huge event tonight expected about a million people there. >> it sounds like he's ready. dylan, is the weather ready? >> yes. i think the pope has an in with someone upstairs because the weather has been fantastic for his trip to the united states, that's for sure. if you're a little farther south, virginia into the carolinas, it has been raining for days because of the area of low pressure with an area of high pressure sagging from the north. we've got this gradient that's increasing winds to the point that we've seen gusts fire 40 to 45 miles per hour along the coast. also dangerous rip current and rough surf. that's possibly going to affect some of the beaches and cause some erosion from southern new england down into the carolinas. and for the forecast, down in philadelphia, the rain was inching closer and closer. it is going to stay well to the south today. we'll notice increasing clouds.

operation the tightest no, sir three-city tour for the pope. the secret service has in effect shut down the center of philadelphia. it is ringed with fences and with checkpoints. the checkpoints there have magnatometers and tsa agents. they are checking every bag, warning every person who goes in. once you make it beyond the barrier, it is this massive pedestrian walkway. what a way to see philadelphia. the pope comes in today. he's got a packed schedule. he's going to do an open-air mass -- excuse me, a closed mass at the basilica here. he's then going to go to independence hall where they're expecting a crowd of about 40,000 just steps away from the liberty bell. and then tonight, it will be the festival of families, a kind of celebration and a visual that he will take part in. it's also the end of this week for the gathering of the festival of families. and it's going to be a large concert there including aretha

cruising the caribbean on -- morgans were cruising the caribbean on a baby-moon when their world turned upside down. emily was only 23 weeks pregnant when she went into labor, two nights into their cruise. happened on the open waters between florida and puerto rico. >> we weren't porting for another 14 hours. you can't have this baby on the ship. i knew that the baby was coming, so i just said, i've got to push. i can tell this is the real thing. by 1:56, our son was here. >> reporter: weighing just one pound, eight ounces, doctors first told emily she had miscarried but then told her the little boy was clinging to life. >> any time that somebody says, you know, you're not going to have a baby or anything like that, it's definitely -- definitely devastating. >> reporter: hours from port with no incubator on board, they wrapped little hayden in towels. in a statement, royal caribbean said the ship's medical team worked tirelessly to provide care to both mother and child, and the ship altered its course and sailed full speed to the closest port of call -- san

juan, puerto rico. they arrived hours ahead of schedule. >> i think that that's what saved his life. >> reporter: after spending three days in puerto rico, hayden was airlifted to miami. his parents, who were celebrating their 3-year-old daughter's birthday on the cruise, call their son a fighter. >> he definitely is an inspiration to us. >> reporter: the family has sets up a gofundme page to help with medical expenses and say they are overwhelmed by the support they've gotten. and doctors hope the baby will be able to go home in a few months, around the same time when his due date was supposed to be. the story's already amazing. but you think of this part, too, that from the moment that they told the mom the baby had died, 45 minutes later they came back and said, no, clinging to life. that baby is alive. 45 minutes. >> what an emotional roller coaster. >> happy ending, but can you imagine those 45 minutes for this mom? >> can't even. >> we're glad the baby's okay. >> thank you very much. one day, by the way, after pope francis visited central park in new york, there is
