this morning we have a special guests from pets in need. we're here with oliver. i don't know if you can see, he's such a tiny kitten. only three weeks old. >> three weeks today. >> he came here a couple weeks ago. remind our viewers about his unique story and give us the update. >> my wife's co-worker found this little guy and his two sisters under a deck in a house near their house. and we took them in three weeks ago.
7:57 am
and they were tiny, tiny, even smaller than this. and we've been bottle feeding them for the last three weeks. unfortunately, we lost his two sisters and he's the only one left. >> oh, my goodness. >> he's doing very well. >> no mom in sight. talk about the challenges you face. this is exactly what organizes like pets in need, this is why it's important to support organizations like this. you do find animals that are in dire straits. it takes a lot of resources. >> 24/7 for these guys. that's why we need a strong foster family network that can take little guys like this and provide the love and attention that they need for about four weeks or so. then they're ready to eat on their own and they're able to be vaccinated and we can start moving toward adoption. but the first month or so, we need a lot of extra attention. >> yeah, he's very talkative. it looks like he's shaping up to be an orange tabby. >> he is. >> what's the personality of a tabby cat? >> well, he's going to be -- i

can tell you now he's going to be very frisky and playful. he's already biting and, you know, wanting to jump around on things. we have four other cats and he's already learned how to play with them and, you know, interact with those guys. he's going to be very socialable. >> in addition to needing people to adopt these little pets, what kinds of things do you need from your foster parents and people who may want to get involved, not make a long term commitment. >> they need to commit about a month or so to providing lots of socialization, you know, we need to have lots of touching and helping them understand they have to go into a litter box and transition them from a bottle into, you know, hard food. or solid food. so it does take an effort, but the rewards are -- just tremendous. when it's all said and done. >> great way to kind of get your family used to having a pet. thanks so much for bringing oliver in. thank you very much for joining us. you can find out more about pets
