the low 70s. 65 degrees in san francisco while the north bay topped out at 72. i'll give you more details about what to expect today and the weekend with, which includes some rain. let's check in now with mike with a look at the slow down for the east bay. >> first of all, expected. toll plaza is full and the approach is gentle as we look at your map. it's not the maze, it's not the east shore freeway that is the problem. it's over here. highway 4 at the top of your screen, the crash approaching 242 still ties up concord in pittsburg and bay point and makes pleasan hill and walnut creek a little bit easier. and mystery slow down over here behind me. both directions of 680 now slow between highway 84 in sunol and sunol boulevard. this stretch both directions. looks like some overnight road crews going on there, but no word about anybody moving or not moving through the area. we'll check with chp, once again, and see if they have an update over the next couple minutes. we're tracking that. 84 cutting from 480 through

pleasanton and livermore. no delays although a new crash reported right around downtown. 280 might be effective and we're checking on that, as well, in downtown san jose. let's go back now to breaking news. we have an update that we first brought you when we came on air at 4:30 this morning. crews worked quickly to put out a fire at an apartment complex on the peninsula. >> "today in the bay" stephanie chuang just talked to firefighters on the scene, what did they tell you? >> yeah, laura and sam, i want to tell you, the senior living apartment complex say that was top, elderly people living here, but the good news is 36 people impacted all got out safely. the scene is wrapping up right now, but i can say that firefighters just pointed us to where this happened. a second floor of this building. the man in the apartment where this fire started was also able to get out safely. we're here on lake road to give you am perspective just south of

ralsten avenue here in belmont. two area ladders that were called, but not used. and they were called because high-density living here. and also multi-level apartment building. now, they're still not sure what started the fire, but firefighters say they know they were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes of when they got the call at 4:00 this morning. they credit the sprinkler system. >> the fire alarms, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems. they are all vital because, you know, while we can get here in three to five minutes, fire can rapidly evolve in that time frame. >> so it could be life saving. >> definitely. sprinkler systems and alarm systems save lives. >> they're still trying to figure out, of course, what started this fire. it really only impacted the one apartment and there's two floors with water damage. right now, the reason why there's still some firefighters on scene they're talking also on red cross on whether they need

to house the 35, 36 people here. but i'm told by the fire spokesperson that they should be able to get everyone back into their apartments this morning, except for the one man who lived in the apartment where this fire began. live here in belmont, stephanie chuang, "today in the bay." >> thank you, steph. more breaking news this morning, this time in san jose where police are looking for a hit and run driver. this happening about 30 minutes ago at north 10th and santa clara streets. police looking for an older modred car that struck a pedestrian. that car was last seen heading south on tenth street possibly towards interstate 280. right now hearing reports that the victim is aand speaking with officers. we're making phone calls to police and fire hoping to get you update and also have a crew heading to the scene and an update on air as soon as they can get information to our newsroom. a dubious distinction for the nation's air travelers. the tsa says for the weeking last friday, security agents discovered a record number of

firearms and air travelers ca y carry-on bags. agents found 68 guns in security checkpoints. 68 is one more than the weekly previous high set last month. all but seven of those guns were loaded. he had a detailed plan to kill. that's what investigators are saying about the bay area teenager who was shot and killed after he stabbed four people on the uc merced campus. kris sanchez here now with more revealing details they found, kris, in his pocket. >> it was detailed and written by a young man who the merced county sheriff says was lonely and snapped when he was rejected by his peers. when faisa, all mohammad was kicked out of a study group he came up with the plan to kill. he stabbed four people before he was interrupted and then ultimately shot and ilkilled by campus police. officers found a detailed note in his pocket.

>> we found a two-page, hand written, i'll call it a manifesto detailing his projected activities pertaining to the day's events. >> the sheriff said that in that so-called manifesto, mohammad detailed 24 steps he planned to carry out. included a hit list of specific students that heed to targt and even a script of what he planned to say when he did that. he even wrote of a plan to steal an officer's gun if he was confronted. in his backpack was supplies like night vision scope and vaseline to make the floor slippery for first responders. they reiterated he was not driven by terrorism or lin to hate groups he only had a teenage grudge. his classmates will return to class today. the sheriff says that though he wrote about killing other people, he made no reference to killing himself nor being killed

as a martyr. laura? >> very interesting. thanks so much, kris. 6:05. happening today. consider this your warning. a lot of detours and closures will plague san francisco streets for the next week. >> a very busy part of town. work of the new central subway project will shut down some streets starting tonight. bob redell joining us live from the action in san francisco. right near at&t park at how this could impact you and for how long. >> for the next eight days, sam and laura. starting tonight at 10:00, muni will shut down part of the intersection behind me. shut down part of that intersection so they can reconfigure the muni tracks. this work is necessary so muni can eventually link the t-third line to the central subway which is scheduled to open in 2019. allow to come up forth and enter a recently completed tunnel. now, this will clearly impact traffic in this area by the cal train station.

muni is asking for your patience over the next several days. >> the intersection is going to be blocked off to traffic, the side streets, the alternative routes will be crowded. we will encourage peep not to drive in the area and to use transit wherever possible. >> this construction is only taking place in the southern portion of the fourth and king intersection. so it will not affect westbound traffic on king. that's the traffic headed towards 280. but if you're coming off 280 into the city, you will be detoured at fifth and rerouted. take note if you're coming to the carnival taking place this weekend at at&t park. that will definitely affect you. this work will cut off muni access to one of the rail storage facilities which could impact service city wide. check the muni website. this intersection is scheduled to reopen a week from tomorrow night. midnight saturday night the 14th.

reporting live here in san francisco, bob redell "today in the bay." >> thank you very much, bob. 6:07 right now. one of the men arrested during a violent protest in the east bay is expected to appear in court this morning. this is video of police taking down protesters during a special meeting over affordable housing. it happened wednesday night in alameda. the protester faces charges resisting arrest and battery. renters felt locked out of the meeting. the city mayor says she does not consider the officer's actions as excessive force. >> the people that came and demanded to speak right then, that is not protocol. and does it cross the line of civil disobedience, i don't know, but it could be that. >> council members passed a 65-day moratorium on no-fault evictions and rent increases above 8%. all new this morning, the october jobs report just

released about 30 minutes ago. very solid report. last month employers had 271,000 jobs and analysts were only expecting about 185,000. the unemployment rate also dropped down to 5%. that's 0.1 less than the previous month. economists believe that this job growth is likely going to keep the fed on track to raise interest rates next month. the janet yellen watch. >> no doubt. all right, we're watching the weather this morning, actually, kai is doing a lot of that. good thing. how is it looking? >> it is this morning, but it warms up nicely as we go inthe afternoon. expect the highs today to top out in the low 70s after starting out in the 30s in the north bay. it's 38 degrees in napa and santa rosa. 45 degrees for parts of the peninsula and the south bay and the east bay and cupertino today up to 70 degrees and palo alto 71 and financial district at 75 degrees today. oakland 71 and livermore today looking at a high of 74 degrees. so, the next couple of days,

nice and comfortable and we'll have some rain by the end of the weekend. i'll detail that coming up in less than ten minutes. but let's get a look now at how things are flowing in the tri-valley with. >> kari, the good news is 580 moves well through dublin. holding steady with the same volume of traffic for about the last half hour. we'll show you the map. not 580 we were concerned with. and there was a big slow down there. the northbound side has cleared up and the southbound side recovering for speeds. i'm going to say it was an overnight road crew that has moved through the area. we had no incidents reported from chp. the bay bridge toll plaza, the metering lights are on. westbound highway 4 and a crash approaching 242 and a big distraction out of pittsburg and bay point and clearing through concord and walnut creek. over here getting off of carquinez bridge your commute direction. and that will be a problem blocking two, maybe three lanes. still getting an update from chp.

that will be a big problem north bay in towards the upper east shore freeway but might provide a little relief for this friday morning, at least temporarily. looking at northbound 101 and looking at a slower drive just building through san jose. a crash here southbound 280 at 87. a crash moving to the shoulder and, of course, the activity the hit and run just off santa clara and 10th. >> we're keeping our eye on that. you'll soon be able to shop at b.a.r.t. stations. opening up pop-up retail kiosks at embarcadero and montgomery stations in san francisco. from buying fresh food to getting your clothes dry cleaned. b.a.r.t. riders can take care of errands and exclusive deals. you can also expect to see new features at the civic center station and several others in east bay as early as next year. making good use of the space there. >> most definitely. a developing story. several people killed in an arkansas bus crash and the conditions that might have played a role here.

little rock. several other people were also injured and the trooper says that there were light wind and fog around the time of the crash, but it's not clear if weathered a role in causing it. >> the roof of the building just blew off! >> take a look at that. intense moments caught on camera as what appears to be a tornado rips off the entire roof of a building it happened yesterday in ft. worth, texas. flying debris damaged several cars but luckily no one was hurt. more severe weather could roll through the area today. a follow up now. hold the crab as in the entire recreational crab season. it's now delayed for the time being due to a serious health threat. an upicadate to a story we firs told you about on tuesday when tests found unsafe levels of a potentially deadly toxin in crabs. that means the dungeness crab fishing season for folks like you and me is postponed for up to six months. commercial crab fishermen soon

believe they'll be hit with the same kind of delay. toyota making a billion dollar investment in silicon valley. the japanese carmaker is setting up a research company to develop artificial intelligence in robotics. not just for its next generation cars but in other facilities, as well. it's expected to launch in january in palo alto with 200 employees. toyota plans to develop a similar facility with mit in cambridge, massachusetts. facebook is start agnew music sharing app. it lets you post 30-second clips of song songs that you're list to to the social network site. for now the feature is only available for facebook's iphone app. the phone could soon save your life with a touch of a

button. apple recently filed a patent for a method to enter panic mode on its iphone when it's unclocked with a specific finger. that poses a panic mode that alert friends and family that the users could be in danger and flash a light and and a noise similar to car alarm. 6:17. a wish came true for a terminally ill "star wars" fan thanks to social media. >> daniel fleetwood got to see an unedited version of "the force awakens." he was worried he wouldn't live to see the new film. expected to hit theaters next month. the movie's director granted his wish after his wife started a social media campaign using the #forcefordaniel. even luke skywalker himself tweeted out his support. >> i love that. that's great. what a treat for him. >> i hope he does get to see it

many, many more times. >> no question about that. we are lifting the temperatures here, but not at the start of the day. that is the pattern here. >> very chilly. feels like fall as you step out the door and feels nice like it should for this time of year as we go into the afternoon. a live look now at san francisco. a clear sunrise, a beautiful start to the day. but, yes, as you step out the door, you're like, whoa, i need to go back in and get a sweater like now. as we go into the rest of the day, it will feel much more comfortable. you can do without the heavy jacket or a sweater. 41 degrees now in the east bay. and san francisco at 48 degrees and the north bay at 37 degrees. let's get a close look at the east bay now because we still do have some frosty spots there like in lafayette, it is 35 degrees. pleasanton 39 and livermore at 37 degrees. really dipping especially in some of those valleys and going hour by in san francisco. we're at 55 degrees att 9:00 and at 11:00, 59 degrees and as we

warm into the lower 60s, a light wind and mostly sunny sky throughout the day. now, we won't have much of a change in the forecast heading into the day tomorrow, so, you can go ahead and make some plans to get outside. but on sunday, you'll want to keep watching the radar. download the nbc bay area weather app. the rain starts to move in early in the morning and then moves to the south with the rest of the bay area getting some rain. we're not done just yet. we'll see another round of rain moving in early monday morning. that may impact the early morning commute and then also get a nice little soaking starting out the week. the possibility of at least a tenth of an inch of rain and some lighter amounts as you head to the south bay. a look at the weekend forecast. today highs in the low 70s in the east bay and then we see those temperatures going down each day this weekend with more clouds, a chance of showers and if you want to catch some of that snow in the sierra heading to south lake tahoe. we will have some beautiful weather the next couple of days. sunday is when that snow starts falling and then continues into

monday. the russian river valley, beautiful weather there, too. and a touch cooler on sunday. if you're heading to the central coast, expect temperatures in the upper 60s today and then dropping back into the upper 50s by sunday with some rain moving in. let's get a look now at how the morning commute is going in the tri-valley now with mike. >> kari, we'll talk about the slowing through 680 and problems for the east bay. first of all, we did get word of a crash, just late word 580 right around mlk the exit there. the off ramp affected by a crash and might be visible. so, i'm just warning folks little slowing or distraction there. not much problem towards the bay bridge. metering lights are on and slowing through berkeley approaching the berkeley curve. much bigger issue over here and getting off the carquinez bridge west 80 and two big rigs reported and they're blocking some lanes. and one is jackknifed and blocking two lanes, three lanes and one around willow. so it's not clear until you get to highway 4. then east shore freeway moves very well. coming out of pittsburg and in

towards concord. we'll set things off with an earlier five-car crash and a couple other incidents in the backup and all over the shoulder. big distraction clearing through pleasant hill and concord making things easier for those drivers. the rest of your bay looks pretty standard. slowing for 680 through pleasanto and no big deal after the earlier jam up from a construction crew. 880 moves smoother and over to the peninsula, which is moving very well now. here's the south bay. that crash south 280 still on the shoulder and a distraction there and we'll look at the live look right there for 101. we have that build and the morning commute now kicking in for the south bay freeways. back to you. coming up next a super star on the court turns out to be super courteous off of it. what happens when serena williams confronts a crook for stealing her phone in a restaurant.

more like a "superhero" - after 6:24. tennis superstar serena williams more like a super hero after confronting a phone thief in san francisco. there's even video to prove it. on facebook williams admitted to using her super hero sense when a man swiped her smartphone tuesday night. the surveillance video caught it all. williams ate dinner at san francisco's and you see her sitting down there. the man walks by, bends down and got up and eventually walks out with a phone. but she followed him when he left. after peacefully confronting him and getting back her prized possession, she told the staff what happened. >> she said that she was really

polite about it. and he said, hey, i think you took my phone. he said, i think so, sorry. >> the restaurant owner recently installed cameras after discovering thieves were repeatedly targeting the restaurant. san francisco police have not filed a report, but still hoping to do so. >> did he realize who he was robbing? maybe not at the moment. young football players from east palo alto and palo alto joining forces to play for the same team and now headed to a national championship. they certainly got the cheer thing down. the coach of the paloalto knights say the athletes from the two areas mother-in-lawed this year for financial reasons. the knights are now undefeated with a record of 8-0ing they already make a stronger team. >> from day one, it diddant take the kids any time to get to know other and didn't take them any time to start gjelling as a grop

cool temperatures stepping out the door but warms up nicely as we go through the day. kind of like the weather we have seen through the this week. upper 30s as we go out the door in the north bay and 37 degrees there. we still could have patchy frost in the mid up to fr 40s else where across the bay and highs today in the 70s san francisco 65 and 71 degrees today in the south bay. i'll give you an idea of what to expect weekend, which includes some rain that is coming up in a few minutes. let's check in now with mike a look at some of those slow downs out there for the morning commute. >> for folks in the east bay, we have koppel spots which are trouble spots. the bay bridge not a problem, and the metering lights are on. it's up here coming off of that carquinez bridge west 80 at the coming skyway and jackknife big rig and my voice just cracked

i'm so excited about this. we also have at willow avenue another crash. even before you get to highway 4, you're jammed off of the north bay and providing a little benefit to richmond and san pablo. looking at highway 4 where you're jammed up right around 242 and a couple in the back and just kept this segment of highway 4 jammed up. the rest of your bay, we're down to a typical pattern and looking at the south bay with northbound freeway starting to build and starting to slow. san mateo bridge and the volume is the issue now bursting over and heading towards the peninsula. 92 is okay and 101 okay, as well. breaking news over on the peninsula. >> we do, mike, thank you. an update to a story we're following all morning. a fire at a senior living apartment complex at the peninsula. while the flame didn't do real damage, the fear was real for dozens of residents. >> firefighters say the sprinkle system played a huge role in

containing those flames. >> i did just get an update from firefighters who say the apartment where this fire started the man had just moved in yesterday and aapparently he stacked cardboard boxes too close to a space heater and that's what ignited this fire. that's the preliminary investigation. they're wrapping up on the scene here. we also do know the apartment where the fire started was on the second floor here in this building. this is on lake road on carl mont drive in belmont. 36 people displaced in all, but the good news is everyone got out safe. now, six apartments on the first floor are not habitable any more because of water damage. so, they're trying to figure that out for those folks now. six engines responded and two aerial ladders called but not used because of high-density living and backup calls for this fire here. not sure what started, they say they now think it was the boxes and the space heater that started the fire, but they also know why they were able to make sure the fire was under control in 30 minutes and they're

the intersection of north tenth and santa clara streets. it happened at 5:30 this morning. the victim suffered a cut on his leg but thankfully is expected to be okay. at 6:36. a dubious distinction for travelers. security agents discovered a record number of firearms in carry-on bags. across the nation, agents found 68 guns, including two at sfo. 68 is one more than previously weekly highs set last month. all but seven of those guns were loaded. students will head back to class at uc merced later today for the first time since a fellow classmate went on a rampage stabbing and wounding four people. now we know that he had a detailed step-by-step plan to kill. kris sanchez is here with what investigators found in the bay area teen's pocket during an autopsy, kris. >> our first look at him. here he is in his college i.d. here he is just about a year before wilcox high school in santa clara and the merced

to make the floor slippery for first responders, the sheriff said. he also reiterated that mohammad was not driven by terrorism or any affiliation to hate groups. his classmates were returned to school today and there is a vigil scheduled for campus tonight. now, in that manifesto, the sheriff said that mohammad did write about killing and made no reference, though, to being killed himself and that this was not a suicide note. laura? >> very interesting. thank you so much, kris. 6:36 right now. new this morning a plan comes into place that may kick start lethal injections for california death row inmates. state leaders will release a new plan to use one drug to execute condemned prisoners. the single drug would replace a three-drug cocktail last used in 2006. a 62-day public commentary will follow once the state publishes its plan. governor brown has been pushing for a single drug injection since 2012. new details now on a story we brought you as breaking news

during last night's 6:00 news. crews were able to rescue a man who fell into the water near baker beach in san francisco. he made it to a rock before crews managed to get him by boat. no word yet on his condition. a 2-year-old boy has died andbering police say his mother caused the crash that took his life. the woman was fleeing from another minor collision around noon yesterday when lost control of her car. she proceeded to crash into a light pole and the force of it caused son to be ejected from his car seat. >> we saw the baby shoot out of the car and then after the baby shot out of the car, the car continued to crash and the woman started screaming. >> police arrived to find the woman still kaupshs in her seat. she was injured but her condition right now is not known. investigators tell us that she does not have a valid driver's license. 6:37. cleared to reopen. the san jose restaurant that prompted the recent shigaella

outbreak received a green light to reopen. shut down after last month's outbreak sickened nearly 200 people across the bay area. that cause is still a mystery. the restaurant has since been sanitized and involuntarily dumped all of its food. 6:38 right now. oakland leaders have devised a seven-figure plan to better track how the city's criminals end up with their weapons. according to the tribune, city council members next week are going to discuss adopting a $1 million plan. that would include adding specialists and replacing outdated equipment to more accurately record the tracking of confiscated guns. right now police manually enter all that information into a computer. the computer lacks the manpower to track all the data. braving the cold and gearing up for the holiday season. we've been watching it all morning long as dozens are ling up in san jose to register for a local annual food and toy program. sacred heart community service will provide holiday food boxes

and toys to families in need. these people in line don't get the donation this morning, they're justing up to have a chance to receive the food and toys later this month. and in december. this year, organizers plan to hand out more than 7,000 turkeys and 18,000 toys. >> that kind of event makes christmas, makes thanksgiving for all those families. 6:39 right now. finally feels like fall at least right now. want to check in with kar and a look at those temperatures. >> seems like we just snapped and went from summer to fall just suddenly and now the temperatures as you step out are in the low 40s. but quite a few 30s this morning, especially in the north bay. expect a high of 70 in cupertino and burlingame 69 degrees and outer sunset out to 61 and still very comfortable this afternoon and more of the same weather with mostly 70s heading into the day tomorrow, as well. we have some rain in the forecast for the end of the weekend. i'll give you more details on that coming up in less than ten minutes but let's check in now

with mike giving us a view of the south bay. >> let's confirm for everybody, it's friday. we should talk about friday light but over the last few months i've been saying lighter. not completely clear around the area. here's 101 at 680. look at things jamping up. slow down for 101 and 87280 and 85 all kicking in for the northbound direction. 6:40 in the morning and south bay build. look towards the rest of the bay and no real trouble spots anywhere south of the bay. those are tri-valley typical hayward slowing and getting over towards that san mateo bridge. crash clearing to the shoulder over on the foster city side. not a problem, but i'll track that. this is where the big problems are. coming across the carquinez bridge west 80, two lanes blocked and managed to clear one more. jackknife big rig and folks coming across from the north bay, but that keeps the upper east shore a little clearer. i guess may do have some benefit. west highway 4, an earlier at the 242 and a couple in the backup out of pittsburg and bay point and out of concord.

released a little more than an hour ago. =cgd!!= last month -- this morning a solid jobs report released a little more than an hour ago. last month employers added 271,000 jobs. analysts were only expecting about 185,000. as you see, that 5% number, too, of unemployment. that dropped from the previous month by 0.1. economists believe this will keep the fed on track to raise interest rates next month. a live look now at the big board to see what kind of impact the job's report has had on the market. a modest bump so far as the dow jones inching towards 17,900.

maybe a jackt for the dog. temperatures in the 30s as you head out in the north bay. live look from san bruno mountain in san francisco. the camera shaking around a little bit. it has been breezy. still breedsy this morning and that just makes it feel even cooler. a live look at sau nol as the sun rises. you see that beautiful sunrise and all clear skies. let's take it hour by hour in san francisco. at 9:00, we're up to 55 degrees. 59 degrees at 11:00 and then as we go into the lunchtime hour in the lower 60s and then as you head home, 59 degrees. yes the sun setting earlier, and earlier each day. we are in for some change as we head into the forecast. another dry day today and tomorrow but then sunday we'll start to see some clouds moving in and there could be some showers, especially for the north bay. here we are at 5:00 sunday morning. and we start to see some rain moving in to the north bay. and then it moves farther to the south throughout the morning. maybe a quick shot of rain, but we're not done there. we may see another round of rain moving in early monday morning. so, that could impact the

morning commute. and then some of those showers rolling off to the south and to the east. a look at how much rain we could see. some of the forecast still going back and forth, but maybe a 0.1 to 0.25 another good soaking to start out the week. a look at the microclimates and the forecasts. 71 degrees for the high in the south bay and san francisco 6 degrees. look at how the temperature goes down as we go towards the end of the week. rain moving into the bay area, but lake tahoe may see more snow and looks like there could be another pretty good coating of national weather service going with at least seven to eight inches of snow in the higher elevations. and then much less as you go down the hill. so, 33 degrees on sunday. that's when the snow starts there. russian river valley looking at some very comfortable weather today. slightly cooler tomorrow and then more clouds and a chance of rain as we head into sunday. you want to keep check in for thupidates on rain and the north

bay, let's check in with mike. >> little build for 101 andw still a crash over off of the roadway on the shoulder but coming out of the north bay to the carquinez bridge. look at the bay bridge and richmond san rafael bridge and showing the backup at the toll plaza. this big backup coming from vallejo should see some relief as that big rig cleared out of the lane and coming over from the skyway and upper east shore will see a lot more traffic over the next few minutes. more traffic traveling through concord and southbound 680 slowing down towards the walnut creek interchange. we're looking at a smooth drive over here but hayward all the way down towards fremont and no problems for the trivalley. crash reported right around the foster city exit. some slowing makes its way over towards 101, as well. live look shows you folks getting off of that bridge

too close to that heater and that's what firefighters say ignited this fire here at the leslie terrace senior apartment living complex in belmont on the second floor in this building. so, 36 people in all displaced at some point but the good news the latest update, most of them are now back inside. the fire starting in that apartment. there's water damage to two different floors. now, firefighters did call backup for a second alarm because of the dense living here and firefighters say, also, the reason why the fire was under control verily after about 30 minutes when it was reported at 4:00 this morning is because of the sprinkler system, it went off. so, a quick update for you. last time we said there were six apartments where people couldn't go back inside. the good news, it's reduced down to three. three people don't have a place to stay right now and they're working on that. every one else, the other 33, are back at home. live in belmont, stephanie chuang. >> thanks for the update. investigators revealing new information about a bay area's

teenager about a stabbing spree at uc merced. >> kris sanchez joins us with more on the two-page manifesto found in the suspect's pocket. >> that two-page handwritten note was a manifesto and a plan. and not a suicide note. the sheriff says faisal mohammad was a young man when he was kicked out of a study group. he was ultimately shot and killed by campus police. during the autopsy investigators found that detailed plan to stab and shoot his classmates. >> we found a two-page handwritten and i'm going to call it manifesto detailing his projected activities pertaining to the day's events. now the sheriff says that mohammad note included names of students he planned to target and steal an officer's gun and make the floor slippery for first responders.

mohammad was not driven by terrorism nor any connection to a hate group, only a teenage grudge. sam? >> thank you, kris. let's bring in "today in the bay" bob redell live at at&t park getting around that area is kind of a problem starting tonight. >> laura, we're talking about for the next eight days starting at 10:00 tonight. part of the intersection here in fourth and king muni will be shutting it down so its crews can do special work on the train tracks that run through this section and this intersection will be shut down then for the part of it for the next eight days. this work will allow the key third line to transnition to a recently completed tunnel that will be part of the central subway that is scheduled to open in 20. when the subway is completed that will give passengers a direct underground link between mission bay and selma downtown and china town. construction here at fourth and king will impact traffic in this area. muni is asking you to avoid the area, if possible and use public transinstead.
