breaking news: an s-u-v races down a neighborhood street, loses control, and breaking news. an suv races down a neighborhood street and loses control and crashes into a person's garage. the people living there scream because of what was inside of that east bay garage. and the three-hour hostage standoff in san jose leads to tense moments and ultimately a shootout. back up and running after a government-wide cyberattack. the online request that sent san jose reeling. briefly and now getting a chance to dry out and for the most part we are done with the rain as drier air starts to filter in. you can see all the rain and snow that is now heading off to the east. temperatures are in the upper 30s in the north bay and upper 40s else where across the north area and looking at highs today in the 60s. a cool but sunny day with some breezy winds and those winds make it feel a little bit cooler as we go through the day. i'll detail that and what to expect for the rest of the week. that's coming up in a few minutes. let's check in now with mike. how is it looking in the outh bay? >> zoomed our camera in trying to see some of that water we encountered many of us as we came towards the station on the surface streets. it's all right. it's damp. we'll look at the roadways and don't see anything registering on our road weather index. recent activity, as well. may leave the surface streets and damp ramps. early morning hours until the sun can dry everything out. until then, we're doing just

fine. 88 in the sierra, they both still have that overnight winter adviso advisory. back to you guys. we begin with that breaking news. an suv slammed into a home in a san leandro overnight. take a look at these pictures. that car pinned a woman who was in bed and an investigation into what happened is now under way west of interstate 880. >> "today in the bay" bob redell joins us live from that area. bob, witnesses describe a chaotic scene saying that car may have been going as fast as 100 miles per hour. >> one witness we spoke with describes a horrific sound. t the 25-year-old daughter was pinned underneath an suv that crash under to a bedroom. but that's where the accident took place. that crash happening in her bedroom around 9:30 last night at her home here on farmsworth

in purdue in san leandro. the driver of the suv lost control as she camepeding along farmsworth and slammed into the side oaf the garage. the garage converted to a bedroom for the adult daughter. the woman underneath pinned underneath the car. she had to be rescued by professionals and she's taken to the hospital. not clear how badly hurt she is. the sdrirve al the driver also taken to the hospital. the person, the driver was going at around 100 miles an hour before the crash. >> he went straight through the stop sign after he clipped this girl's car he realized he was on the wrong side of the street, was trying to get over. we heard the brakes and then he went straight through the house. >> we spoke with police. they say right now too early to tell whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved or there was some other circumstance that led to this horrific crash in this residential area of san

leandro. at the home, yellow tape around there. we do believe that right now people aren't going to be allowed to live inside, even though it was the garage that was impacted. several people live there and we assume they're looking for a temporary home at this time. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much. san jose police investigating a shooting that left a hostage and gunman dead. near camden avenue in highway 85 turned upside down last night after police received a call around 2:15 in the afternoon of someone claiming that a man forced his way inside of a home with a gun. that call soon turned into a tense hostage situation and three-hour long standoff. police say officers and the gunman exchanged fire and that the suspect was pronounced dead a short time later. once officers were able to gain access into the home, they found the woman hostage also dead. neighbors tell us they're shocked. >> stunned.

i've lived here for about 30 years and i can't recall anything like this happening in my neighborhood. >> police say that they don't have the relationship between the suspect and the victim. but a source tells us the suspect and the hostage definitely knew one another. happening today, the debate ramping up about sound safety and alcohol sales at levi stadiums. ways to limit alcohol-induced violence. one idea is to cut off alcohol sales at half-time instead of the third quarter. a fight broke out at a game in september. three men have been charged with assaulting a minnesota fan. police say they also have responded to 24 reports of assault since the stadium opened last year. the bay area's biggest city back online this morning. this after a massive cyberattack. that problem started last thursday when several san jose city websites, including the police department's home page kept having outages. eventually tech specialists made

the fix. they say hackers flooded web servers with too many access requests. last year oakland city websites were targeted in a very similar way. want to check the forecast for this now tuesday morning. we have a lot of rain yesterday and dry out today, kari. >> we'll dry out today with cooler temperatures and now mostly in the upper 40s across the bay area. but 37 degrees in the north bay. getting a closer look at the north bay now, the femptutemper are chilly and low 40s around and 46 degrees and highs today generally in the upper 50s to lower 60s and i think we'll see more 60s today with a breezy wind that will make it feel cool and our temperatures are just below average for the beginning or we're in the middle of november, heading towards the middle of november now and 65 degrees can be expected in pittsburgh, as well as livermore. i'll detail what to expect as we head into the next few days coming up. but how is it looking in the

exclusive: ==sam/2shot== you might be off the hook for running that red light. a bay area city is voiding hundreds of tickets. all because we uncovered a problem with those red light cameras. ==laura/2shot== tickets are being ripped apart and money is being refunded. chief investigative reporter tony kovaleski joins us with the exclusive investigation. tony? ==take >> you might call it an early holiday gift from the city of san mateo. right now 948 bay area drivers are receiving letters rescinding the red light camera tickets and those that already paid are getting checks in the mail. why? our investigation during the past three months uncovered two traffic lights in the city of san mateo that were not properly timed making the tickets invalid. the lights are located at saratoga and hillsdale and hillsdale and norfolk in san

of unpredictable. you think you're getting a little bit of rain and all of a sudden you look at the totals and they're pretty hefty. >> depends where the rain bands set up and that's what we had yesterday. >> good stuff. >> really good. if we get more than what we expect always better than getting less, especially in this drought. as we take a live look outside as we are starting to dry out now. taking a look now at the bay bridge. we have mostly clear skies and the roads may still be wet in a couple of spots. we had a quick-moving shower just one of those last little bits of moisture rolling through the south bay. look at these rainfall totals. los gatos 1.5 and about in san jose over an inch and also in lafayette. our rainfall averages were well above the percentage of normal and, now, our temperature starting to settle back into the upper 40s all across the bay area while we do have some 30s for the north bay. the wind coming in from the

north makes it feel cooler. our wind speeds coming in at about 14, 15 miles an hour sustained as we go through the day looking at more of a northerly wind and a breeze starts to calm down later on tonight. it will be a day where you have the jacket on most of the day, most likely even as we start out in oakland, it's 46 degrees. into the afternoon, we will see those temperatures slowly warming up. we're at 56 degrees at 10:00 and then a lot of sunshine with highs today topping out in the low 60s. so, a beautiful day. looking ahead to the weekend, expect a high of 71 degrees in the south bay on friday. and starting to cool off a couple of degrees heading into sunday. that's actually when we will be tracking the next rainmaker moving into the bay area. looks like it arrives on sunday, may continue into monday. so, we could be starting a trend here. let's check in now with mike to see how it looks as you head across the san mateo bridge. >> we're looking over here, yes, crossing the bay.

deals. a very unlucky day for people across the state. the california lottery went offline at hundreds of schools. the computer glitch of some kind shut down lottery turchlinermin 350 stores yesterday morning. people could not get their power ball numbers and couldn't play their super lotto and only the scratch off tickets were available. some stores were off line five hours before the problem was eventually solved. the cause of that glitch is still under investigation. time for decision 2016. the stage is nearly set for the latest round of gop political fireworks. tonight presidential contenders take part in their fourth debate. being held at the historic milwaukee theater in wisconsin. once again, focus on the economy. many expect gop frontrunner ben carson to get a dose of personal questions this time around, including something about his history. opponents including chris christie and mike huckabee say it's all part of the job

obama administration's plan to stop the deportation of undocumented parents of american children. that plan would have granted work permits to those parents. despite the setback, the president says his fight is not over. still has time and is expected to take his case to the supreme court. the supreme court could hear this case within the next three to six months. 4:51 right now. is california benefits for undocumented immigrants and half would have incomes low enough to find. the findings of a new study by california public policy institute. researchers found nearly 1.5 million undocumented immigrants would be eligible for the government-funded health care program. in june, governor brown signed a state budget funding plan for about 170,000 undocumented children under the age of 19. at the time, state lawmakers dropped the idea of medical for adults. last time you have been to the library and took out a library brook. >> yesterday. >> did you notice a long line?

san jose considers easing the break brakes on restrictions for ride sharing companies. taxi drivers plan to respond with a larger strike than the one they staged yesterday. as we reported all day yesterday, hundreds of drivers held a protest and a strike that left travelers stranded. south bay taxi drivers fuming over the city's plan to lift regulations against ride sharing companies at the airport. one regulation involves fingerprinting requirements which taxi cab drivers would have to follow. to coincide taxi drivers plan to expand their strike citywide and are promising at least double the number of drivers taking part. it is 4:56 right now. new details to you tell you about this morning and apparent break through for san francisco's south and market neighborhood. supervisor committee recently improved plans at fifth and
