all the microclimates. in the north bay, that is where it it is coolest and we do have patchy fog developing that may be freezing, so creating some icy spots on the road and in san francisco with 47 looking at highs today in the lower 60s. north bay 68 degrees and the south bay 67 degrees. another beautiful afternoon, so owhat what about the weekend? i'll let you know in a couple minutes. >> still early, we don't have any major concerns. we do have a couple of stalls on 101 near san mateo and poplar avenue and another breakdown, 101 at 280 right at the connector. otherwise, things looking pretty good, sam and laura, we'll toss things over to you guys. it is 4:31 and shots fired and streets blocked and a chaotic scene that uncovered. in the meantime, we're learning more about the deadly

confrontation between the suspect and police. police say a man with a rifle and handgun climbed up several floors of what will be the new st. luke's hospital and fired his shotgun at lst twice. the old adjacent hospital went on lockdown. construction workers scrambled to safety. >> and when we went down the south stairs, man shooting a gun, was actually shooting like a long duck hunting shotgun. >> police shot and killed the gunman who stole the gun and shells from the big five sporting goods in san bruno just a few hours before the attacks. he has not yet been identified. no one else was hurt. so, where this all went down, a very busy part of town. that neighborhood alauong cesar chavez. a lot of people terrified watching it all unravel. some took out their cell phones to capture the confrontations and others watched in fear of what might happen next.

county jail. today he is expected to file a claim. two correctional deputies beat him and broke his jaw last july when he was behind bars at the maine county jail. his attorney showed pictures of garcia a month later. at the time, he did not report the incident because he was afraid of retailiation. and then in august he heard about the beating death of michael tyree that now has three jail workers facing criminal charges including murder. >> felt guilty because if i would have reported what happened to me at the time, maybe mike would still be alive right now. >> garcia admits there may be an issue complicating his case. he says the day after his confrontation with guards, he had a fight with a fellow inmate. the sheriff's office says it's now looking into all of garcia's allegations. vaping is the new smoking one more bay area city should be able to treat it as such. the palo alto city council

recommend ecigarette smoking be banned. if the full council approved new signs would have to be involved. the committee talked about new regulations on the sale of tobacco and efforts to raise legal age from 18 to 21. outside it feels like 30s and 40s are the new 50s and 60s, if that's kind of, i'm saying it backwards. it's cooler, kari. >> it's cooler. it's november. we expect the temperatures to go down. it's very cool stepping out the door. gilroy up to 70 degrees. absolutely perfect. highs mid up toer 60s and san francisco up to 6 4 degrees on the embarcadero and 67 in oakland and also 67 degrees in livermore. a few of us hitting that 70 degree mark and more weather like this into the next couple of days and more rain in the

>> i'll bring you a space heater and put it under your desk because it's cold. it's cold in here, too. you're probably having to deal with that as you head out this morning. the heater, crank it up. as we take a live look now at the bay bridge. every one getting the day started with these chilly temperatures. you may even have some patchy frost to scrape off before you get the car rolling. as you take a look at all the microclimates now, look at the north bay. it's 35 degrees. it's 39 degrees in the east bay. san francisco, a little bit better there at 47. we're at 37 in petaluma and also in napa, so, with those temperatures dipping into the mid 30s, patchy frost, once again. it will be a very pleasant afternoon. i think it will be even a little bit warmer than yesterday in the peninsula at lunchtime, 61 degrees and also in the north bay, 65 degrees. in the east bay, 68 degrees as you ride home. and look at the north bay, 70 degrees. san francisco up to 65 degrees.

so, looking very nice. not much of a wind as we go trow t through the day. the wind off shore. we see the temperatures warming up, but isn't anywhere for the warm air to come from. so, we will have more of the cool mornings, crisp, too, and some sunny afternoons and into the next couple of days. we're getting ready for some more rain. the next cold front moving in will bring in some showers and this starts early sunday morning and you want to make sure you put that in the weekend plans because it does roll through here and brings quite a bit of rain in the forecast. some of the initial runs of the computer models show at least a half an inch of rain for the north bay. let's keep that going. we will have some good soaker of a rain for the end of the weekend. meanwhile, we'll have a dry start to the weekend with friday and saturday in the 60s and 70s. and much cooler on sunday. let's check in now with anthony for a look at the commute. >> hey, good morning. just want to start off with the

an update on the team's status after yesterday's meeting in new york. she was there to convince nfl executives to keep the raiders in the bay area. while oakland is trying to keep the raiders, the team announced they hired a heavy-hitting ceo to make them move back. bob ieger will leave the process. near downtown l.a. to be shared by the raiders and chargers. since the announcement, mayor libby shaft released this statement "i thought it was a positive discussion and that we we were well received. the raiders could move as early as next year. 4:50 right now. million dollar homes on the peninsula purchased but left sitting dark and empty. they're called ghost houses. and many people say they're actually damaging the neighborhood. house hunters have been buying homes without the intentions of moving in and they have been using tools without doing so

student march. one of those marches is planned to start at 2:00 this afternoon at berkeley plaza. also this afternoon, city college of san francisco supporters will march right through downtown san francisco. they are protesting looming cuts to csf staff and shrinking classes in meeting new accreditation requirements. one quarter of the faculty may be at risk of losing their jobs. 4:56 right now and it is over before it even began the first half moon bay crab fest will not happen as originally planned. festival organizers say not enough crabs to eat and instead an sos sea food fest where they will inform the community on how to sustain. this comes after toxins were found in bay area dungeness crab. the toxins forced the department of fish and wildlife to delay crab season. this new event will take place at the end of january. they've already served our

country. this gentleman certainly has now and now a livermore veteran is being called a hero for saving a dog. >> this is destiny on the left and her sister lacy. the two were driving in livermore when they say a home caught on fire. the sisters got out to make sure no one was trapped inside when destiny went around the back, she noticed a family's pet pug. destiny was a marine sergeant also a big-time hero. >> risked her life there. coming up next, fear of retaliation, that's why former county jail inmate did not come forward right away with abuse allegations and now moving ahead with legal action, but even the man admits a possible setback to making his case. a san francisco neighborhood watched in terror as the violenviolent standoff continued.
