graduate turned gang member seen here wearing a pittsburgh pirates cap. the team called that sickening. one of four british isis they called the beetle, jihadi john was the leader. the group whose reach now extends from syria to northern iraq and north africa. the strike comes shortly after the latest isis attack in lebanon where at least 43 people died last night in a double suicide bombing. >> juhadi john's family now all live here in london. no comment from their lawyer. the british just spoke the isis lead executioner saying he has been killed and it was an act of self-defense. >> keir simmons with the breaking news out of london. we want to bring in jeremy, good morning to you. >> good morning, savannah. >> we know juhadi john is the mass face of viciousness.

what kind of blow is this to isis? is it symbolic or something more? >> this is the biggest blow to isis in the year and a half we've been undertaking operations against them. he was the face, he was the chief propagandist but he was also an operational commander. he led this hostage taking cell and he himself conducted these murderous operations for the world to see. i think this is a very significant take down. >> the reports are he was traveling in a car and hit by a drone strike. what does that tell us about our increasing intelligence on the ground when it comes to crisis? >> these are pain sticking operations. they require days, weeks, months of operations pulling on all our sources trying to pinpoint a terrorist on the ground. we've gotten good at these operations. when we reach deep into enemy territory and put an air strike

landing right on the target you know our intelligence is pristine and this is what it will require for months and years to come. >> we're hearing from u.s. officials they're confident he has been hit but how do they go about determining that making sure he was not only the target but the target was accomplished? >> right after the strike our people go quiet and listen and watch and hear what they will say about their own guy whether they're saying he's gone and over the coming hours and days we'll be able to definitively confirm whether he's been taken off the battlefield and i believe he has. >> real quickly, you mention he's the chief propagandist for isis. is it probable his death serves as a recruiting tool for others? >> we've asked ourselves that question many times. i think we've determined it's better to take these guys off the battlefield than to let them stay out there and recruit others. >> jeremy bash, formerly the cia

she faces off against her democratic challenges tomorrow night. she has a 19 point national lead over her closest challenger bernie sanders 52 to 33%. that's down slightly but still commands. the candidates will be more aggressive over economy and immigration. meanwhile, the clinton campaign is defending a story she first told in the 90s. i repeated this week 1975 while living in arkansas she looked into joining the marines. skeptics and some republicans noticed it was an unlikely choice for a yale graduate who had worked on anti war campaigns. one told me clinton stands by her story adding her interest was sincere and it's insulting

but not surprising that republicans would attack her for this too. all of this would be at the floor when the candidates face off here at drake tomorrow. savannah, matt. >> all right kristin welker, thank you. >> now we got this. the secret service dealing with fallout from another scandal this morning. a uniformed officer accused of accepteding explicit photos and text while on duty at the white house to someone he thought was an underaged girl. >> matt, good morning. these charges were filed against a member of the secret service uniform division, specifically an officer to check i.d.s of people with appointments to visit the white house. >> the officer worked on one of these booths on the white house grounds where visitors with appointments check in to be admitted. the officer, 37-year-old lee moore of churchhill, maryland

began sending text messages to someone in august who he thought was a 14-year-old girl but an undercover officer from the delaware state police. in one message moore said he was sitting at box office system booths. he sent a sexually explicit photo of himself to the person he thought was 14. he was relieved of duty and put on leave. prosecutors say after he was arrested he admitted of sending the explicit messages and photos and sent some of them from the white house post. it's another headache for joseph clancey. >> we're trying to reinvigorate the look of the secret service and unfortunately, i don't have a magic wand. it's going to take a little bit of time.

blocks? >> no. >> we actually are walking it. >> okay. cool. we will look forward to it. let us start this morning and this half hour with stories that are making headlines. the public face of isis, its notorious executioner known as jihadi john has been targeted in a u.s. drone strike in syria. the pentagon now work to go confirm reports that he was in fact killed. another embarrassment to the secret service, a uniformed officer has been arrested. lee robert moore accused of sending obscene texts to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl, turns out it was an undercover police officer. donald trump launched in this to an aggressive tirade in a speech last night. he mocked ben carson and used profanity to describe his strategy to fight isis. and now to a new series of laser strikes on planes across the country. tom costello has been covering this story for us. tom, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. another night, another round of laser attacks on aircraft across

the country. by the way the penalty is 20 years in prison. and a quarter million dollar fine. and yet so far this year laser strikes up a stunning 36% as of mid october. and the number is still growing. overnight reports of more laser strikes across the country. in pomona, california just outside of los angeles, a pilot from station ktla was covering a story when a bright green beam of light pierced his eyes for at least 45 seconds causing them to burn. >> it hit direct in my face causing a discomfort in my eyes and what we call flash blindness. similar to having flashbulbs go off in your eyes. >> reporter: the news crew tracked the source to a home in the same neighborhood where a 15-year-old boy was arrested for pointing a laser at an aircraft, later released to the custody of his parents. >> he doesn't know. he's a 15-year-old little boy. >> reporter: in phoenix, lasers struck two commercial planes

while they were making their descent. >> be advised of green laser activity about 2.a 5 mills southwest of sky harbor. >> 671, 1:00 position a green laser. >> reporter: the latest rounds of strikes coming just one day after an incident in new york city when a chopper pilot for our nbc station w thnbc was hit with a laser over brooklyn. a 20-year-old man caught on camera flashing the laser was arrested and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment. according to the faa, more than 20 aircraft was struck with lasers from the ground on wednesday night alone. and the number of attacks is growing. as of mid october, more than 5300 strikes it will reathis yed to 3900 last year. we've seen these strikes at nearly every, but the most include los angeles, phoenix, houston, las vegas, dfw and san

nearly everywhere. everyone amazon is getting in to the game expanding to restaurant meals, but all that convenience comes with a grain of salt. in new york, an investigation by our nbc station discovered 10% of the top 100 restaurants of delivery sites seamless and grub hub don't ebb exist. >> fake addresses listed, some empty warehouses. many not licensed by the department of health. >> so if i go there, that's what i'll see? >> right. >> reporter: places like really chinese, a restaurant listed on both cites, turns out the food is really from another restaurant. where health inspectors have found evidence of roaches and mice over the last two years. the restaurant manager tells wnbc he created the fake listing to increase business. seamless and grub hub have now agreed to verify the details restaurants provide and take action against inaccurate listings. a spokesperson for grub hub telling nbc news, we found this situation to be unique to new

york, but all our sfraunt contracts require our partners to abide by local laws and regulations. if they are found to be in violation, they are removed from our platform. while delivery orders can be good for business, not every restaurant seems convinced. turns out well-known restaurants have also felt burned. california based in n out burger is now suing door dash for delivers its food saying it never authorized the start upto do so. >> they're for the quite sure what is going to happen the second that food leaves their restaurant. so it's a whole new ball game right now. >> reporter: a game with with lots of players and millions of hungry americans. so of course the big question, what can you do to make sure the food you you receive is actually what you ordered? well, number one, be smart about it, do your research especially if this is the first time you're ordering. and if you can, check the restaurant's health grade.

good morning. it's 7:56 on your friday. i'm brock. a follow up now on a police standoff that ended last nights in east san jose. a man arrested is a fugitive who escaped from a bail bondsman last month being escorted into santa clara county jail. all of this unfolded right near the silver creek neighborhood. back on october 7th, the same man was wearing handcuffs when he bolted from the bail bondsman. it led to a massive manhunt in downtown san jose. yesterday standoff started when they tried to contact that suspect. police also arrested a murder they say helped in the burglary. a live look now at the bay bridge. don't forget an implosion is planned for morning on the old eastern span. it is expected to take place some time between 6:45 and 7:00. chp will do rolling traffic breaks and b.a.r.t. trains will not run during that window.

spectrum disorder. >> let's shift gears. there is a fascinating story in the newspaper about the cleveland clinic starting to -- wanting to get into the business of uterine transplants. who would this be for and how would they do it? >> the patient that this is for is for a woman who has something called uterine factor infertility. and that means that there are women, thousands across the world, who are actually born without a uterus or have some issue whether a his ter rec any or problem with their uterus and they can't carry a child. the cleveland clinic pacing out of has come out of sweden, they have had nine uterine transplants. it's quite a procedure. the woman has to be screened significantly, they have to go through ibf, they have to be selected to be the recipient of a donor uterus, meaning that a person has died, they place the uterus in the woman's body. woman has to heal, a year later

taking a look at the headlines, a new government survey suggests that one in 45 american children age 3 and older have autism. that's a significant increase from the earlier estimates of one in 68 children. but experts point out the previous number came from a check of medical numbers. the new higher number is the result of surveys that asked parents specifically if their child had ever received a diagnosis of autism. autism speaks says this is another piece of evidence that suggests autism is being underreported. if you're looking to get a flu vaccine but want to get it in the mist form, you may be out of luck. pharmacists are reporting that they are out of flu mist. a company spokeswoman says it
