ra. turkey says in a statement that the plane violated repeatedly turkish air space. that it was warned ten times over the course of ten minutes that it was violating turkish air space. and after it ignored or failed to comply that two turkish u.s. made f-16s engaged the plane and shot it down. the fate of the pilot at this stage remains unknown. there is one video that suggests that one of what are believed to have been two pilots have been have been killed. that is still unconfirmed. the pilots and plane are believed to have crashed inside syrian territory. that has explosive implications. we have to find out who if anyone has found these pilots. and it also speaks to the larger issue. this is the first time in recent memory that a nato country, tkys a nato member. shot down a russian plane it.
