crash north 101 right by, very quickly sounds like just a fender bender. and the slight build, but lighter than normal. a chaotic door-to-door search nets three suspects within the last hour we learned that two of them were found hiding in people's backyards. this happened near the campbell/san jose border. "today in the bay's" stephanie chuang is live. a sigh of relief for parents in the area, and it all started with a high-speed chase. >> reporter: it did, three howling a deputy spotted a care that came back stolen. and it all ended here in this front yard on harrison at payne, they caused one person right away, with teams of officers and deputies going door to door and

found two others hiding. the car was towed away about ten minutes ago, but we have video of the acura legend that crashed into a hydrant stop sign and ended in the front yard. preliminary information is speeds up to 90 miles an hour at one point in the pursuit. investigators say they are careful when deciding whether to chase a driver, and in this case made the call to go for it. >> in this case, little to no if any traffic, roads are dry, there was no real issues. they weren't driving real crazy. >> reporter: so two men, one woman arrested. investigators think the female driver may have recently been released from the women's jail in milpitas, but for what remains unclear. they did not find weapons in the car, but they did find burglary tools. the three will be booked for auto theft, the driver for felony of aiding and the others

for conspiracy, but again saying it's very good situation, considering that no one got hurt. live here in campbell. stephanie chuang, "today in the bay." 6:03, more breaking news. an east way complex up in flames within the last two hours or so. crews in pleasant hill brought this fire until control, but not before it burned one apartment and damaged several others. it happened on santa barbara road. investigators tell us the flames started in a downstairs parking area and spread to the unit above. several people now without a place to stay. no one was hurt, and the cause is under investigation. breaks news now this time overseas, new video showing a russian war plane plummeting into the hills in syria before a cloud of dark smoeg rises into the air. now we know that plane was shot down by the turkish military. kris, turkey says russia ignored several warnings, and russia is

now responding with some pretty sharp rhetoric. >> this morning vladimir putin is calling it a stab in the back. it he says it will have serious consequences for the relations, which is a concern here in the west. you can clearly see something going terribly wrong. the plane is a streak of flames and smoke as it heads nearly straight down. it then crashes into what is the turkman mountains region near the coast. we're getting reports that one of the two pilots who ejected from that war plane is now in the hands of rebels in that region. to put some context for you about where it happened. the plane was shot down over a two-mile stretch of turkish land that sterns into syria. russia hug launching air strikes against the opponents of bashar

al assad. and then stepped up bombing after isis claimed responsibility for downing a russian passenger plane. back to the video. the two shots are parachutes. the commander that calls itself the 10th brigade to doed associated previous that the two members tried to lamb, but then came under rebel fire. it is not clear what happened to the other pilot, but there's video that surfaced on the internet. we cannot confirm the veracity of it, so we are not airing it. the turkish military says it fired on the unidentified plane after warning ten times in five minutes. today nato will hold an emergency meeting at turkey's request. russian president putin very upset that the turks went to

more th more. some neighbors are credited with catching a peakeded drunk driver, and actually lifting a wrecked car off a bicyclist. it happened saturday night. paramedics rushed the bicyclist to the hospital with major injuries. neighbors ran out to see what happened, and lifted the car off the victim, then held three men who were in the car that marked into several others. >> we held them. if i had to tie them with my hose, i was going to. >> good for those neighbors. one of those men is fidel gomez. police say he now faces charges of felony hit and run for driving under the influence. neighbors lending hands there. n there would be a lot of people collapse their hands. they're going to pack into o

a winter storm warning goes into effect in about 45 minutes. if you're planning to head to tahoe for the holiday, here's your warning. the road waist will be dangerous. pack those chains. >> kari hall is tracking, but as far as the snow is concerned, we're talking about more than a foot in some places. >> that begins as we go into this afternoon the warnings will be in effect between now and 4:00 in the morning a wen day. the bright pink is the winter storm warning, anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow near lake level up to a foot. a winter storm warning sure and once again dangerous travel to be sure to bring with you the tire chains. up to 14 inches of snow and it could be higher at some of the highest elevations. that's a major concern. now is the time to get on the

the proposed rules come from a blue ribbon panel made up of pilots, manufacturers and other experts in the field. a final decision hasn't been meat. first you'll have to give the faa your name and street address. the faa says that's so it can update you on rules so they can change. secondly your drone needs a unique identifier, much like an ampt has a tail number. this would apply to drones from roughly half a pound and heavier, whether out of the box or made from scratch. that half pound rule, really 250 grams, is less than we expected. kids under 13 will not be subject to the rules and the database won't be public in any way, even under the freedom of information act. disney says it will release a new virtual individual, so

imagine something like this, but done in virtual reality? disney is partnering up with google and verizon to release the video december 2nd. you'll need these. these are the google reality glasses. they call them google cardboard for obvious reasons. you put your phone inside here, put them up to your head, and it's pretty good, sam and laura. it's a really cool experience. that could be how movies are in the future. >> what's better than a "star wars" movie? being in the movie. when it comes to exercise, pregnancy should be no reason to let up. that's a conclusion from a whole bunch of men -- no. >> looking forward to the rain, but some people are thinking, man, i really want to get out for the holidays. none of the rain drops are coming from the sky just yet, but the clouds have rolled in. expect that rain to come very quickly as we go into the qu9 to 10:00 hour, so chilly changes ahead. a lot of clouds and the winds picking up, too. we'll have gusts up to 45 miles an hour, and a slight risk for some this morning as well. we talked about that snow over in the sierra with snow levels dropping down to 2,000 feet, and cold and clear conditions with valley temperatures in the 20s and 30s once this moves out. we're still tracking that rain as it moves farther to the north now, starting to approach parts of the north bay. that will be the trend as it moves to the south out ahead of the cold front that will bring those gusty conditions. a look at the futurecast. you can see by 9:00 we've got some rain coming down and also moving into san francisco, so this will be a quick mover.

also moving into the peninsula, as well as the east bay and into the south bay by lunchtime, with once again a chance of a few of those showers producing thunderstorms. if you'll be heading out this afternoon, good timing, because that's when we get a break. then another round of rain moving in late tonight and early into the morning, but that looks to be a quick one. then the snow shifts over to the sierra, and it continues as we go into the day tomorrow into the evening hours, and a look at how much rain we can see. we're expecting anywhere from a little or a tenth of an inch. there could be spots up to a half inch of rain, so a wide range in some of those rainfall totals across the bay area, but not a wide range in these temperatures. generally in the mid to upper 50s all day today, and once again there would be breaks in the rain, also with the king tides now returning to our area, there would be the turn for novelty today, but the next few

days of some flooding. we'll key you up to date on that, but let's see how it looks. now is a good time, right? right now we have a lighter traffic flow, so there is a couple areas where you may want to give a few extra minutes. through san pablo into richmond, there are some cars in a lane due to a crash. but after that, you're just fine. that's your second slow spot. the third one is west 580, the crash at coolidge looks like it cleared. north 101 around sfo, a crash is blocking one lane, so watch for slowing. the south bay shows no problem. same thing for the tri-valley, a quick look here shows you 101 not bad. also the in order bay, fox are coming in from san rafael to the

now, but you can see on the radar there's rain out there, ahead of a coffee that will bring a drastic drop. now it's very mild. 47 in the north bay, and a beautiful sunrise with all those clouds once again grab the umbrella. well will have times of rain, taking a break in afternoon. i will detall that. that's coming up in a few minutes, but might get you out the door now. >> we have a lighter volume of traffic, and those dry roads are helping out for the few crashes we've had. in one in north 101, it's a -- there's the airport on the map, but clear by the time you get 2380 into san bruno. we see some recoveries, the earlier crash at central has also cleared, but traffic now heading toward the bay bridge, as that transitions, we're looking at a nice easy drive.

we have video of the acura legend. investigators say it all begantt about 3 1/2 hours ago. that's where a deputy spotted a stolen car. the driver took off and crashed and all three people inside took off running. one caught right amp. the two others found after a careful door-to-door search. >> we don't know if they're armed or not. it's careful. we had two four-men search teams working on this. we were lucky we had the manpower to do it and the time. >> reporter: investigators say the three are all young adults. that may have been recently released but for what, is unclean. they did find burglary tools in the car. all three now will be booked into santa clara county jail e

france is upping its air aassaults and military presence. it wants to gauge how far the u.s. is willing to go. >> france will continue to ramp up the contributions. >> it's believed that the two western powers will talk about the possibility of ground troops in syria. up until noun, president obama has been reluctant to send in more than a few special operations troop. nbc news will have a special report in about two hours when the two leaders hold a joint news conference later this morning. because of terror threats, there is a worldwide travel alert. here in the bay area people we spoke to at sfo say they knew about the warning i while they say it's on their minds, it won't keep them on the ground. >> i figured because of what happened in paris, it would be on high alert. i guess at the end of it i have to enjoy my holidays, see my

move in in the north bay, and then the rest of the bay area seeing that. spotty light showers moving into ukiah, and once again the rest of the bay area seeing that, and here's a look at the timeline at 8:45 we are seeing it move into sandy rosa. by 11:00, in san francisco as well as the east bay, moving into the south bay before lunchtime. more of this wraps up early afternoon. good time to get out there in the roads or catch a flight later on today, but it will be windy and very cold. that cold air stays with us into the next couple days, there could be more rain into the forecast. we'll talk about all of that and how much snow we're expecting in the sierra in about ten minutes. let's see how the commute is rolling now. mike? >> this burst of traffic over the san mateo bridge will meet with some problem, as folks are going from 92 into sf. that would be over here, the

are worldwide travel alerts for american. and the mohammed family is suing the school district and town in texas after their son ahmed was arrested and suspended for bringing a disassembled clock to school. the family wants $15 million. one interesting twist in the suit is it may finally allow the school to tell its side of the story in court, because ahmed was a minor, the school was fairly tight-lipped at the time following the incident. it did say right now the media has only one side of this story. understand the school district can't release the statements or facts without written consent from the parents, and we have a very different verse of what's happened than what you are seeing in the media. we'll continue to follow this story at that suit comes, 5 million against the school district, 10 million against the town because that's a police force. a lot of money at stake. thank you, scott. a lot of rain, snow in the

sierra, all coming our way. >> we're going to have a drastic drop in temperatures. it won't be anything like it was over the weekend. as we take a live look from san bruno mountain, it starts out nice, quiet and calm. it's cool, too, the winds are starting to pick up as the cold front moves in from the north. out ahead of that we'll see our weather changing. rain moving in, and increasing winds will have gusts up to 45 miles an hour, also is a light risk of storms, too, and snow near 2,000 feed in the sierra. that starts this afternoon. for the next few mornings, we'll have cold and chilly conditions, clearing skies, valley temperatures in the 20s and 30s by thanksgiving morning. this is what it looks like know, we are seeing that rain move into parts of northern

california. it will move into santa rho rosa. we'll see that rain pouring there, and by 9:00, as many people get out on the road, we whether start to see that rain moving into francis, the east way by 10:00, also approaches the south bay. we'll see the heavier rain right around noon, and all of this rolls off to the east. we'll take a break, another good time to hit the reel for holiday travel. by late tonight wee see more showers as that cold air blows into our area. a look at how much rain we are expecting. computer models shows that we will sue that, and then it all dries out one against as the wind picks up and temperatures drop. highs today, really not a wide
