this. a crash and flashing lights west 580, your commute direction, just before the dublin interchange. i saw chp flashing lights clear another car behind it. there's still hazard lights right there in the center divide. i'm going to say that the lanes are clear but over at the center divide, there's still a distraction. a little bit of speed differing from 55 miles per hour. even on friday, it's a light commute. mild build for hayward and san jose north 101. these are the typical patterns but very light traffic friday flow. damp roads approaching where the toll plaza is located. not a huge concern. back to you. the shooting in san bernardino where that community is still in mourning today. tears shed and candles lit to n

as well, passing people that we knew were injured and in need of assistance. but our goal at that time had to be trying to locate the shooters and deal with them. >> we are also learning more about this suspect, syed farook and his wife tashfeen malik. authorities say he may have been radicalized. he had contact with persons of concern locally and overseas. >> we're hearing from family members giving a different account. >> a family member says sayed farook, prior to the shooting, was a good person and not radical. authorities say farook had been in touch with people who had jihadi views and may have been in contact with people overseas who are of interest to authorities.

he and his wife did not leave behind any reason for a motive. they removed their hard drive and smashed their cell phones and didn't say anyone before they killed 14 people early wednesday morning. farook's brother-in-law still doesn't understand why farook and his wife carried out this horrific attack. >> the only thing i see, it's my crazy act and what's the outcome? you left your 6-month-old daughter, you know, in this life. some people cannot have kids. god give you a gift of a daughter. and you left that kid behind. what did you achieve? i don't know what message they would left. >> farook and his wife also left behind thousands of rounds of ammunition and 12 pipe bomb-type

>> stephanie chuang is live in the san francisco newsroom with what that ban entails and perhaps whether it has a chance of passing. steph? >> reporter: leaders have been working on these gun safety proposals for months ahead of wednesday's massacre in san bernardino but, of course, this has put a huge spotlight on this issue. and in oakland, there are three proposals that are being introduced and detailed this morning. one, making it illegal for anyone to have a large capacity magazine, ten rounds or more. banning people from keeping a firearm in any home unless stored in a lock container or disabled with a trigger lock. and finally, requiring safe storage of firearms in motor vehicles for those who have concealed carry weapon licenses. an increasing number of vehicle burglaries bring up more concerns of thieves stealing

firearms. in july, a woman was killed involving a gun stolen from a federal agent's vehicle. david campos is leading that effort in a law that would ban firearms in vehicles for anyone unless locked in a trunk or stored in a lock box attached to a vehicle. the violation would be possibly $10,000 in fines and/or up to half a year behind bars. that is in the works as well. this is a bay area wide discussion. in oakland, the latest city to take it up, two city council members and police chief will detail their plans and that's happening at 10:00. live in the newsroom, stephanie chuang, "today in the bay". >> stephanie, thank you very much. 6:08 now. in san francisco, anger boiled into the streets after a deadly officer-involved shooting. protesters called for action against the sfpd officers who

shot and killed mario woods on wednesday night. that was caught on camera and shared on social media. activists claim the video proves that police did not have to shoot the 26-year-old. there were five police officers there. but police say woods had proven himself to be dangerous because he had already stabbed someone and had refused orders to drop his knife even after officers used nonlethal weapons. the public defender says woods was not threatening anyone's life when those five officers shot him. the police chief is defending the decision to open fire. >> at least four of the rounds were at the larger impact. you can see him in the video. he doubles over one time. that's from the striking of one of the bean bags. they are very powerful. >> there is no indication that he's lunging at the officers or trying to hurt or kill anyone. so why are the officers then
