to be retaliation less than 100 miles away in california's coachella valley before afternoon prayers. this morning state and federal investigators are looking into the firebombing and urging anyone with information to come forward. in san bernardino, divers will be searching for evidence. we have seen two small notes recovered from the lake where they are said to have visited the day of the shooting. >> this would be a place where you can destroy evidence or a hard drive. >> they are not saying what they recovered, but if it is a hard drive, it could hold evidence on whether others knew about the attack. >> even the damage could yield important information. >> they are focusing on his childhood friend said to be cooperating with the fbi. they said marquez supplied the two assault rifles and sharing

president obama is aiming to step up his response with the fight against isis as he meets at the pentagon on monday. it comes in the ache of paris and san bernardino and the president came under criticism not being tough enough against isis. the secretary of state and secretary of defense will update him and the president as you recall recently said 100 additional special opes forces to conduct rings in iraq and syria and pentagon took steps to ask carder, the u.s. will be building more capabilities. the press secretary was asked if the meeting is an indication that major changes and strategy are under way. there is no overhaul planned at this point, but he added we will see what the meeting yields. the president is expected to make remarks after that

>> let's turn to the other big story we are following. the extreme weather. not feeling a lot like christmas here in the east where temperatures in some cities may be as much as 30 degrees above normal. we have more on the record heat and possible severe weather in the plains. >> not only are we talking about the heat, but looking at dew points around 60 to 70. moisture streaming in from the gulf of mexico so that sets more of a spring or fall-like set up in place. we are looking at the chance of stronger storms. an area of high pressure sitting here and around that is this warm, moist air that will continue to pump up the temperatures running about 20 to 30 degrees above normal. cleveland is 65 and memphis is 73. washington, d.c. about 71 degrees. there is a species of the cherry blossom tree that have a double bloom. if it's warm enough, they have it in the fall. we are seeing a second bloom.

it's warm enough for that. as we go through the weekend, temperatures in d.c. will be close to 70. in new york in the mid 60s. even up into boston, temperatures well above average. here's the area where you have a slight risk of stronger storms. isolated tornados and it's a large hail risk from southeastern kansas through oklahoma and all the way through central texas and dallas. that's an area we need to keep an eye on. >> we will come back to you in a bit. we are following a bit of a major development with the conference in paris right now. >> it's one of the most significant conferences and ending with an international agreement. they spent two weeks negotiating this deal. kelly joins us now from london. good morning. >> good morning to you. you said it.

this is a historic agreement if it goes through. the first time all countries reached a deal to limit man made emissions. the foreign minster said the deal is ambitious and balanced and will be legally binding. this 20-page draft agreement sets goals by 3.6 degrees fahrenheit, a key demand of island nations dealing with rising sea levels. details of how it will happen have not been released. the draft agreement has not been released. leaders from more than 190 countries have been debating for two weeks and they have to vote on the deal. the united nations secretary general is encouraging them to vote yes saying we must protect the planet that sustains us and for that we need all hands on deck. despite news of the agreement, environmental protesters plan to take to the streets of paris. france is under a state of emergency, but paris believes

they issued a last minute permit to allow the protests. we will keep you updated on that vote. >> thank you. in california, hundreds of mothers of babies are going to be tested and treated after exposure to tuberculosis. patients and employees said a nurse at the valley medical center test said positive and those who came in contact with her are at risk. the 350 babies born between mid-august and mid-november will receive antibiotics for at least six months. a man charged in the death of two officers has been found dead in his jail cell. he was unresponsive in the isolation unit. no cause of death was announced. he and three other suspects were involved that left two officers dead. >> in california, look at what happened to this car. the driver was on a san jose

the heat? here is a look at what's making headlines on saturday morning. authorities in southern california detained one person in connection with the fire bomb attack at a mosque. overnight, authorities announced that the fire was intentional. no injuries were reported. severe weather warning for people in the plains today. communities from austin to oklahoma bracing for wicked weather this afternoon. they are expecting hail, heavy rain, possibly rare december tornadoes. in france, officials with a landmark pact after nearly 200 nations spent the last two weeks negotiating. it is aimed at transforming fossil fuels and curbing global warming. let's start with the controversy in austin, texas with gun rights advocates taking the streets to stage a fake mock mass shooting. it is set to happen at the

especially through oklahoma and texas today. late this afternoon into this evening and mainly overnight is when we could see stronger storms. tomorrow, the storms spread eastward, but should weaken. we are looking at snow to wrap around on the back side of it. we will have another pacific northwest storm with mountain snow and a lot of rain good morning, i'm meteorologist kari hall. it's in the low 40s for most of us. 50 degrees in san francisco. in the north bay it's 36 degrees. there are some really chilly spots out there and some patchy frost. as we go into the day, we'll be breezy and partly cloudy. and a few showers starting to move into the north bay. as well as san francisco later on this afternoon. we'll see that rain spreading into some of the further south areas of parts of the bay area as we head into tomorrow morning. and i love this sign right here. no snow in buffalo. are you happy about that?

and red wood city 58 and mid 50s in san francisco. a day but a few spots will hit the lower 60s like oakland. turning to the extreme weather we've been experiencing. a tale two of coast. warm and dry in the east. cold and snowy in the west. who better to explain than the person who knows what she's talking about with weather, dylan. >> could it be more opposite than last year? a total role reversal. while the unseasonably warm weather takes a toll on slopes in northeast, skiers out west are getting an early christmas present. with some resorts getting 24 inches of fresh powder in 24 hours. remember last winter? it was one for the record books. by this time last year, buffalo was already buried under snow. up to six feet of snow fell in parts of western new york, most of that falling in just a

24-hour period. new england, three feet. it's not just me. even hearty new englanders are saying the snowstorm hit way too early, and they're right. throughout the northeast, ski resorts opened ahead of schedule. the midwest in a deep freeze. this is day two of the snow and ice here in forest lake, minnesota. fast forward to this year, it's like weather whiplash. buffalo hasn't even seen a trace, breaking a 116-year-old record for lack of snow this late in the season. temperatures across the eastern 2/3 of the country, well above average. ski resorts seeing green and not the good kind. >> we really need the temperatures change or at least become a little more seasonal so that we can get a product out and get the facility open. >> you know it's bad when even i'm anxious for the snow and cold. i've got a closet full of winter coats, and it's too warm to wear them. on the west coast, it's a

completely different story. last year, folks were begging for snow. >> we've been praying for snow. >> it's the strangest season that i've ever experienced. >> look at all the dirt on the slopes. and there are hardly any skiers. and now, so much powder it's like white gold. >> i think it's like over 60 inches already at mammoth, about 1/3 of the amount we had last year. if we keep up the momentum, we're looking at an amazing season. >> we could definitely use snow on the east coast. >> reporter: you say that now, but be careful what you wish for. everyone wants to know, are we going to get slammed in january and february. i mean, january and february always kind of -- you know. it's winter. we're going to get a few storms. it's not really going to be that you will bad through the rest of december. for the west coast, continuing the pattern they're. for -- pattern they're in. for us, january, february, we'll see a pattern shift. >> like winter. >> exactly. >> we can see spring.

both companies are already struggling with deliveries because of increased online shopping. fedex typically has a 95% on-time delivery rate. u.p.s., 97%. ship matrix put them at 91% in the week after black friday and cyber monday. u.p.s. is looking to avoid the delays of christmas, 2013, when its system was so overloaded it couldn't deliver everything on time. the company does admitted to some delays but insists the vast majority of their customers have received their packages as promised, saying "our operations effectively reacted to higher than expected volumes, and this will continue as we progress through our peak shipping period." its rival, fedex, says it, too, is experiencing a record number of holiday shipments due to the steady rise in e-commerce, but promises, "our dedicated team members around the world are working hard to deliver the holidays." while shoppers across the country are crossing their fingers and hoping they'll have something to put under the tree.
