we report from los angeles. >> reporter: 1,531 school properties searched. hours later, the good news. >> we can now announce the fbi has determined this is not a credible threat. >> reporter: just after 7:00 a.m. parents started getting notifications to keep their kids home. the immediate concern, terrorism. a threat which law enforcement confirmed appeared to come from overseas was credible enough for the superintendent to shut the district down and send swat teams to some schools. >> based on past circumstances, i could not take the chance. >> reporter: another threat sent from the same ip address also was sent to new york city schools. >> it appears to be the same e-mail, a generic e-mail. >> reporter: police commissioner bratton says he's investigating

wheel blew out. i don't know if a wheel blew out or collapsed or something like that. >> fire officials say eight people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. the faa is investigating the incident. a florida car theft shows you can never be too careful. this man had just finished gassing his car when a 12-year-old boy told the 89-year-old passengers his tire was deflated. he stepped out of the car to check. when the boy dropped his bike and hopped in the driver seat he took off with the car. the boy later wrecked the car. police recognized the youngster because he's been arrested 20 times already. the west coast continues to hog the wintry weather, at least from parts of montana getting over 30 inches of snow since sunday. california, nevada and colorado saw upwards of 20 inches this week. here in the east, we're still living in april weather with

temperatures from maryland, rhode island reaching into the 60s. it's so warm bears in vermont haven't started hibernating, instead digging into bird feeders. how do you make sense of any of this? >> just a crazy jet stream. it will take a little longer. the jet stream hasn't changed. the cold weather is in the west and that's how it's going to stay over the next two weeks. this morning, a little bit of snow for spokane, a light rain showers mostly in the mountainous areas. the next storm will come in later tonight. this is a significant storm. this will produce some flooding on some of the rivers, especially in areas of eastern oregon. as far as -- western oregon. they could go to flood stage, it will be minor flooding.
