stemming from the december 2nd mass shooting in san bernardino. enrique marquez is a friend and former neighbor of the attackers who bought the assault weapons used in the massacre. pete williams has details. >> reporter: two weeks after the shooting attack that left 14 dead and injured 22, federal prosecutors filed charges against marquez, a former friend and next door neighbor of syed farook. the two men plotted to attack a community college in late 2012. the fbi also says they talked about throwing pipe bombs to stop traffic during rush hour and then to shoot at people stuck in their cars. and he's also charged with firearms laws when he bought the assault rifles.

unl federal law it is illegal to buy a gun knowing the purchase is being made for someone else. the charges filed say marquez and farook continued to plan for terror attacks by going to firing ranges, but that the two stopped plotting together after some unrelated terror arrests in southern california. he's also charged with defrauding the government with a sham marriage. officials say farook's brother is married to a ukrainian woman, who's sister is married to marquez. fbi questioned marquez for at least a week. they say he answered questions strontly and did not request a lawyer. president obama was briefed and said there are no known threats or attacks. he urged people to get on with the holidays. >> we cannot give in to fear or

change how we live our lives because what is that terrorists want. >> earlier this week the bodies of farook and malik were buried in the muslim tradition at an undisclosed cemetery miles from san bernardino. >> last night marquez did not enter a plea. he'll be back in court monday. president obama will visit with victim's families later today. meanwhile a federal grand jury indicted a bay area web developer. prosecutors say he attempted to travel to turkey to help al nusra before authorities stopped him at an airport. he had a number of phone conversations with associates expressing his desire to die with the anf. his lawyers say he's innocent. he has been called the most

hated man in america for exploding the price of a potentially life-saving drug. martin shkreli could face 20 years in prison. this morning he's out on a $5 million bond. nbc reports. >> reporter: just before his arrest, martin shkreli broadcast live for three hours on youtube, playing chess, the guitar, and surfing ok cupid. hours later, the fbi would be at his door. dubbed by some the most heated man in america for wildly inflating the price of a life-saving drug now stands accused of a laundry list of charges. >> highlight the outrageous web of lies and deceit. >> the charges have nothing to do with shkreli's decision in september to hike the price of daraprim 5 thousand percent.

at the time he argued the price increase would fund important research and development. >> are you going to change the price? >> no. >> later his company said some hospitals and patients would be eligible for discounts. now shkreli is accused of creating an elaborate pons scheme. or other things steeling from his former pharmaceutical company to pay off a failed hedge fund. he's already so widely despised he actually united hillary clinton and donald trump in a common cause. >> that guy is nothing. >> i'm announcing a detailed plan to crack down on these abuses. >> shkreli is the son of eastern european immigrant, raised in brooklyn. his parents worked as janitors. he recently spent $2 million for the only copy of a hip hop album. and told the magazine i'm the
