10 to 15 gallons of paint on the western span heading into the city causing all sorts of problems on which could be a friday light morning commute. >> the traffic is actually trickling right now into the city. you can make it over a good portion of the, but then there's quite a few problems westbound. mike inouye has been tracking it allern moing long. where do things stand now? >> the great aerial shot. there is the chopper over the scene and they'll adjust their focus a. but enough to see harrison street off ramp and still only one lane of the traffic gets off to the bay bridge and fremont street get the off ramp, as well. paint pickup. get a better view of that. the sweeper truck has been making progress. the good news i saw the sweeper going over the paint spill zone and they are trying to clean up the actual incident instead waiting for the absorbent to take effect. all these cal trans and media vehicles and now folks are walking across the area inspecting it. only one lane gets off at the

bay bridge. four lanes are blocked. that's a big, tough merge. watch the chopper. as well as the traffic coming off the bay over off the distance. it is jammed solid out of the maze all the way across. we'll show you the map and we'll show you the options, as well. there's a tough, tough drive across the bay bridge. friday light for the rest of the bay and that saves your commute. folks up to the richmond san rafael bridge and more mileage and the double toll as we're getting across that bridge, as well as the san mateo bridge and a tougher drive right now heading through hayward. a little more traffic but nothing unusual. those are your two options. look at the san mateo bridge, but this is, again, friday. we have a lighter volume. 92 westbound is a good option for you, as well as the b.a.r.t. system takes you under the water into san francisco without delay. let's get back to the bay and show you the rest of the commute. traffic slow rippling out as a result making other options available to folks. we don't have any problem for the peninsula or for the south bay. that's much better news.

again, we you have more on the bay bridge and now we send it back to you. that paint if they didn't clean it up is more of an issue as the rain is now making its way in. a live look from atop san bruno mountain this morning. check in with meteorologist kari hall. not one but several closing in on the bay area this afternoon. >> while it stays dry during the morning hours, this evening will have an issue with the downpours rolling through. we see that farther to the north with some bright yellows and reds, which shows a higher intensity of the rain and means it's coming heavier. but now where the clouds are starting to move in. the mid up toer o eupper 40s. temperatures rising to the upper 50s today. sunshine to start for the south bay. but then those showers moving in later on this evening. so, i'll give you a closer look at the timeline and a look ahead to the weekend as this is the last weekend before christmas, if you can believe it. that's coming up in a few minutes.

sam and laura. >> thank you very much. new this morning. the vatican signed off on a second miracle needed to make mother teresa a saint. pope francis just signed the decr decree. it states at that a man was cured when his wife prayed to mother teresa to intercede. the man came out of a coma. the pope's decision clears the way for mother teresa to sainthood. that is expected in september. coinciding with the 19th anniversary of her death. it is 6:03 right now. now to some very serious accusations against the young bay area man. federal agents say he was traveling out of the u.s. to help terrorists. but we spokeclusively with his attorney who said have the entire story wrong. a federal grand jury is accusing adam shafi from fremont one count of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. the indictment claims he traveled to cairo with his family last and booked a one-way

ticket to istanbul, turkey. also claims his father was so concerned that he wrote about it that his son might have been following imams online. but his attorney says his client is innocent. >> this is a case, unfortunately, in which an act of humanitarian aid is being intrp ri interpreted with one and it's just not there. >> shafi graduated from mission san jose high school back in 2011. his family released a statement saying their son works with the homeless and less fortunate people across the bay area. a bail hearing is set for next week. 6:04. new developments in what prosecutors and police are calling the worst-case of child abuse they have ever encountered. monterey county prosecutors plan to file first degree murder charges against the aunt and 17-year-old companion whose bodies were found inside a redding storage locker.

investigators now believe the children were killed in a salinas apartment where they lived. >> it is our intention to file two counts of first degree murder with special circumstances and a special circumstances under california law lead to a punishment of either life without possibility of parole or a possible death penalty. >> redding police started the investigation last week after the victims' 9-year-old sister was discovered locked inside a vehicle suffering from neglect and abuse. she's now being treated in a sacramento hospital. 6:05 right now. westbound i-80 in san pablo back open this morning after a shooting investigation shut it down in the middle of last night's commute. the chp finally tracked down the victim at a nearby denny's. police say the victim was in an suv with other people when someone in a sedan opened fire on them. happened right near the san

pablo dam road exit. that suv then hit another car causing minor damage. the suspect took off and so did the victims, abandoning the suv on the side of the freeway. the man who was shot ran into the denny's where employees called police. the victim is expected to be okay. investigators say the victim and shooter knew each other and the general public is not in danger. one day after his funeral service, those angered by the death of mario woods are calling for a "massive protest." friends and family gathered yesterday to say good-bye to woods. san francisco police officers shot and killed him earlier this month. police say he stabbed someone earlier and was refusing to drop his knife. well, today, supporters vowed not to let his death be forgotten. a federal civilt rights lawsuit being filed and today demonstrators are expected to protest in front of police headquarters under the black lives matter banner. they want the police chief to resign and the officers who shot woods to face charges. a canceled field trip to see

santa claus is prompting a rally in the south bay today. parents and students at san jose elementary school plan to stage a walkout this morning to see santa on their own. it comes after the principal of the school decided to scrap the school's holiday tradition. that means no more writing and delivering dear santa letters. many parents upset the principal did not consult them gathered at a school board meeting last night to share their concerns. >> we had a person come in last week to speak about hanukkah and that would be like saying, okay, well, you can't enter the classroom because i don't want my son around that or learn about that. >> the school's superintendent says the communication breakdown on a personnel level was at the root of the decision. it all stems from a jewish parents' complaint saying the event is not conclusive of all students. happening today some relief for travelers going in and out of the bay area. this actually at sjc.

we know that uber-x servicing the two other major airports. >> right in time for the holidays. this morning we want to talk to "today in the bay" bob redell. starting today people could hail a uber, i suppose. >> or dial it up, bob. >> sam and laura, i'll be starting at noon today and as you might recall, prior to today only drivers with uber black, that's the high-end ride sharing service that uses commercial drivers was allowed here but starting at noon uber-x will be able to operate here, as well. the driver services that uses noncommercial drivers. people just like you and i who have licenses. uber-x has been picking up and dropping off over the months, but they've been doing it under the radar without official permission and we were talking about early november local

cabbies oewent on a two-day strike. they had been upset with the city of san jose's decision last month to start allowing ride-sharing under what the cabbies say are separate rules. all taxi drivers must face higher fees and submit to background checks while 1% of uber and the city said it would like to level the playing field, but its hands are tied by state law. now, if you want to use uber-x here you can't just use it along the curbside. two designated locations. we're putting a map on the screen for you. one location at terminal a and another location over here at terminal b, which is where we're located at right now. uber-x officially to operate here starting at noon today. just in time for the christmas season. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> that will help you get out around sjc.

breaking news we're following after a massive backup because of a paint spill. 10 to 15 cans of paint causing a big backup there. only one lane open. "today in the bay" stephanie chang live on the scene this morning and a nightmare for that morning commute. >> good news here. fremont street off ramp where cars are being diverted off of 80 and, look, you can see it is clear right now. it might change as the commute hour sort of builds up, but, again, right now it is very smooth here locally. we look at the traffic video, though, from the bay bridge. you can see the backup truck where it dropped 10 tao 15 gallons of paint. start that cleanup. one lane is open. four are still closed as of the last update from the chp. the flares, of course, are out and cars are going very slowly with almost a dozen different

trucks moving around in that area. but, again, the real traffic story is the backup on the bay bridge. back here live, again, though, it is nice and smooth. if you're trying to get diverted off of fremont street, it shouldn't take you too long. the traffic that is bakd up. take a little bit of time for that normalize and mike inouye has our updates all morning long. >> on that note, you mentioned, it looked pretty smooth from her perspective and the area shot of the cars. >> giving that report we did get, again, clarification from chp and as steph alluded to there, they are going to have another hour, perhaps hour and a half. we're looking as possibly as 8:00. they can reopen this. the update from 6:30 until now possibly 8:00 when they can have the lanes reopened. there is the sweeper trucks and your four westbound lanes blocked and only one is open and that one-fifth of your freeway that is open causes the backup all the way across the span from san francisco where they

continue to clean up all the way across. look at your map to the maze. that is a huge issue. now, folks can avoid that by using richmond san rafael bridge. a build towards hayward and san mateo bridge. as we move your maps out. a smooth drive for the rest of the bay, but, again, that's now rippling out from the bay bridge to the other bridges going from east to west. b.a.r.t. is a great option for you, as well. we look over at the palo alto camera a smooth flow for the rest of the bay and kari's forecast coming up.

good morning. live picture from our chopper from the san francisco side of the bay bridge. cal tran now throwing out more absorbent and more cleanup than they thought. possibly until 8:00 we'll track this and the jam from san francisco solid all the way back into the maze. this is a bad friday for these commuters and alternate coming up. some rain may slow down the evening commute. still far to the north and here is what to expect throughout the day. not as cold and clouds moving in and rain rolling in from the north to the south and maybe heavy at times and steady for areas south of san francisco into early saturday morning. more on that coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks so much, kari. now going to cost you double

to pull the plug on pg&e. state regulators allowing a 100% price increase on so-called exit fees. pg&e customers pay them to leave for alternative energy programs. the monthly fee in marin, to $13. a spokesman for marin clean energy says customers will be paying more because of poor planning on the part of pg&e will need to make up for contracts it signed earlier to ensure everyone is on the grid for power. the so-called most hated man in the world is back home right now. this after an early thursday morning arrest. >> scott mcgrew, martin shkreli faces serious charges. >> this is the fellow that raised an anti-parasite bill by hundreds of dollars and infuriated doctors and patients and even congress.

shkreli was arrested in his manhattan home thursday morning. booked and released. here we see him outside a new york city court building. that is him back there in the hoodie. the other fellow, kind of turning his head in cuffs, that guy there. that's evan grible. shkreli's lawyer. you know it is a tough day when arrested and the other guy in cuffs is your own lawyer. as somebody pointed out on twitter who would think this fellow would ever end up facing fraud charges. one of the most startling things in the indictment is on page 5. prosecutors allege shkreli was telling his fund had $35 million in assets and the bank account really had $700. you've heard about the trouble with hoverboards and their lithium batteries. many of you will not be buying hoverboards for christmas because of it. amazon stopped selling them. for of you who do i turned to

one of the top battery experts what to do when your hoverboard catches fire. >> lithium fires are one of the most tenacious fires around. when the lithium battery catches fire, you really have two options. if you have a really big hose, you can pour an awful lot of water on it. i mean a 4 inch hose and a lot of water or bury it in the sand. dirt, sand, anything that is a nonflammable granular material. >> rob, one of the original battery scientists at tesla and now runs his own company. they have huge buckets of sand to put out their lithium fires. remember, they also explode. the plastic and things is the shrapnel is probably not going to kill you, but, nonetheless, again, this is maybe not, you know, hope for something santa gives you that is less flammable like coal. >> a hoverboard.

you have your kitty litter with you just in case. >> or niagara falls to put that thing out. thank you very much, scott. we are covering breaking news for you this morning. big backup on the bay bridge this morning. this is affecting your westbound commute and crews are trying to clean up 10 to 15 five-en can f cans of paint. >> originally targeting the 6:00 hour to get it cleared up and, now, mike, it looks like they pushed back that deadline. >> they have more to clean up. we'll talk about that, though, coming up. >> also have an impact when it comes to the forecast because if you're out there doing your last-minute shopping. >> the rain will come up at the bottom of your screen and you're looking at it and it says rain, rain, rain. it won't rain the entire seven days. there will be some breaks in between and i'll try to give you an idea of when that will be. let's take a look at what's

happening now as we see the rain moving in from the north. it will be approaching as we go into the next hour or so. in santa rosa. you will not see it until later on. now the temperature is at 48 degrees and 47 in san francisco. these temperatures are milder than the way we started out the week. and a look at the futurecast. we see the showers and some heavy downpours. starting to move into santa rosa at about 11:45 shortly before noon. and then san francisco, you catch a break into early afternoon. and then it also starts to approach the bay. heavy rain a but not expecting any widespread storms. a couple of pop-up showers and thunderstorms will be possible. even as this moves into the east bay and the timeline there at 7:15. o, that's right around dinnertime or going out late this evening. even early in the morning. we still see some light and into the start of the day tomorrow. the break will come tomorrow afternoon and then also early on sunday morning before the next system approaches.

these weather systems are just lining out in the pacific with some rain and that will be rolling in as we head between now and christmas. so the next round moves in sunday afternoon. and then on tuesday early in the morning and then tuesday afternoon looks, but then wednesday into thursday, there will be some more heavy rain moving in. and, yes, that's thursday. christmas eve. and i know a lot of people will be hitting the roads and also jumping on a plane. it looks like there could be some issues there. so, an early heads up. the rainfall expected between now and then could total anywhere from about an inch and a half to two and a half inches. so, a lot of rain in this forecast between now and christmas. and also some snow in the sierra that is expected to top over a foot in some off the higher elevations. like kirkwood looking at the possibility of 15 inches of snow between now and christmas. getting you in the christmas spirit. let's see what's happening with you now as we check in with mike. >> that forecast looks like it may be a call for rudolph over

that span. the span we call for all these flashing lights. and a sweeper truck and more absorbent, if you can see that. a paint spill. laura talked about 10 to 15 of these big paint cans that spilled off the back of a pickup truck early this morning and still have only one lane westbound of your bay bridge getting off fremont street is an option and harrison street is not an option because of the closure on that side of the freeway. look at this span from the emoryville camera. not a metering lights pattern. no metering lights because traffic meters itself. you can't move west all the way across. it jams up from the maze. let's show you an option the san mateo bridge and now just starting to see that slow down and slow as we look at your map and being friday, the rest of the bay looks pretty light. we just got a new incident over by the richmond san rafael bridge which causes a problem for the other option. try b.a.r.t. meanwhile, the rest of your news coming up after this quick

mission bay arena threw another obstacle at the proposal. opponents of the warriors mission bay arena threw a new obstacle at that proposal. they filed a lawsuit as they said they were going to. the suit says the chancellor overstepped his authority by giving away valuable property rights that belong to all californians. according to that suit. the new warriors arena is set to be located on third street, about a block away from ucsf medical center. the project has faced issues from the start with opponents

saying the new arena would create dangerous traffic for people trying to get to the hospital during emergencies. it is scheduled to be ready for the 2017 season. jason day is out of the hospital hours after lebron james crashed into her. james was going for a loose ball when he dove into the courtside seats landing right on top of day. she was sitting there next taher husband. it happened during last night's game. she stayed on the ground there for a while and eventually carried out on a stretcher. after the game james tweeted, ellie day hope you're doing okay. my apologies. hope yous come back to another game soon. love. >> freight train. stay away from me, lebron. coming up next, an update to breaking news. crews working to clear a major backup on the bridge. look at that live shot.

bay bridge because of a paint spill. the western span heading into the city and causing all kinds of problems on what should be a friday light morning commute. >> team coverage for you this morning. we start with stephanie chuang live near the san francisco side. you have been out there all morning. how is it looking from your angle? >> here, locally, little misleading. very clear here at the fremont street off ramp. this is where some drivers are getting diverted off of westbound 80. but, really, the problem is, of course, the backup on the bridge and so now the reopened time is estimated at 7:30 to 8:00 this morning. so, yeah, backed up on the bridge. and, also, the harrison street off ramp closure. that is a bit of a problem, as well. that is very heavily used street there, harrison. with our chopper view, though, you see the pickup truck had dropped 10 to 15 five-gallon buckets of paint. messy. cal transweepers there also using sand to lay that down to help with the traction on the

road. one lane currently opened and one closed. the flare is out and drivers are going very slowly. you can count about a dozen different trucks moving around there. the real story is that backup as you heard mike say this morning. jammed soled from the maze to fremont street where we're live. the chp reporting that some drivers are trying to pass using the shoulder. so, people getting a little frustrated and impatient. again, warning against that, it is not safe to do. one more time, the estimated time it will reopen for all lanes westbound 80 is 7:30 to 8:00 this morning but the issue is the bay is backed up so much, it will take time for the traffic to normalize. by the way, the rain also started up just right when our live shot came on. hopefully that doesn't tie things up, as well. some things to consider this morning on the road. live here in san francisco, stephanie chuang. >> a mix of obstacles there. the rain and the backup on the bay bridge. now what are people doing to get around it?

mike inouye here. you're seeing some of that, mike. >> traffic affects the one person's traffic affects the entire bay area. very tightly integrated system here. this is coming off the east shore freeway and coming off of westbound 580 and the maze and they all converge and look at how bad this backup is. also some mist and drizzle on the lens here as well as in steph chuang's shot. this is packed in even for a typical week day. a friday before christmas week. we were looking at what we thought was a very light traffic flow and not because of the metering lights. there is the metering lights and no break from there. solid up across the incline and all the way into san francisco. look at your map. because the alternates are becoming a problem, as well. the paint will block all but one lane and looking at 7:30, 8:00 and that mist and drizzle may cause complications for that cleanup. we'll get an update if there are problems. meanwhile that is one option getting more traffic and now a

crash over by the san quentin exit that is causing more trouble westbound across that span. a lot folks traveling south down towards the san mateo bridge and a heavier backup even for a week day, but a friday, we shouldn'tee that problshouldn't see that problem. the rest of the bay, two areas and three areas are moving just fine and b.a.r.t. is a great option for you, as well. track off the bay bridge and send it back to you guys. >> b.a.r.t. might be the best course of action there. from the roads now to the skies, not just one, but several storms are moving into the bay area now as if this timing could be better put right on the spot. we saw, kari, live look outside right now. >> you can see it's all dry in the south bay starting out. and that mist and drizzle, too low in the atmosphere to be picked up by our radar. but we are seeing that along the coastal areas and around san francisco.

while the bigger storm system is still well to the north. so, we'll be tracking that as it moves into the north bay throughout the rest of the morning. and then into the afternoon and to the south bay. now, temperatures are milder in the upper 40s and highs today in the mid up toer 50s. and we'll take a closer look at when the heavier rain arrives, especially for the south bay into the evening commute. a lot of mess. but good as far as what we need for rain in the bay area. i'll detail that coming up in a few minutes. but send it back to you, sam and laura. >> thank you very much, kari. we'll look forward to that. happening today in just a matter of hours. president obama will leave washington, d.c., headed for san bernardino. will meet with the families of the victims killed in the deadly terror attack two weeks ago. the president's visit comes as the fbi made its first arrest related to those mass shootings. >> exactly. but not someone who was directly involved in them, laura. later today president and mrs.

obama meet privately with families from the san bernardino attacks. the government filed charges against enrique marquez. the man who bought two of the four guns used. he is charged with helping syed farook plot attacks that never happened. >> counterterrorism professionals do not have any specific and credible information about an attack on the homeland. >> reporter: but lawmakers aren't satisfied. the administration really knows who is crossing our borders. >> you can see why we're scared to death that this administration. the department of homeland security and the state department is not protecting the american people. >> reporter: san bernardin shooter was allowed in, even after talking about jihad. >> they made the wrong call. they made the really wrong call. >> reporter: the san bernardino investigation is ongoing. >> untangling the motivations with particular terrorist pop granda motivated in what way

remains a challenge in these investigations. >> reporter: the fbi trying to figure out what the shooters were doing in the hours after the attack before they were killed. back live now. what we've learned is that both of those shooters, the couple, has been buried now in a private burial. muslim traditional burial and that happened at an undisclosed cemetery in northern california. back to you. >> we're learning about the specifics of those planned attacks that tracieed never happened. reportedly planning an attack at the library or cafeteria at riverside where they were both students. they planned to attack state route 91 with pipe bombs during the afternoon rush hour. and bombard law enforcement as they responded. again, marquez said he knew nothing about the san bernardino attack. he chose not to enter a plea in

saying their son works with the homeless and less fortunate people across the bay area. a bail hearing for shafi is set for next week. meantime an oakland tsa officer is accused of using her post to help smuggle drugs past security. clark was arrested wednesday. investigators say that clark cleerd suspected drug smugglers carrying more than 200 pounds of marijuana. some time between september 2013 and last october. clark is right now facing five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. she's expected in a federal court in oakland later today. 6:38. happening today. uber rolling out with uber-x at all three major bay area airports. >> now you get the. there is bound to be a lot of people coming and going over thoholiday season, bob. especially with christmas just one week away yeah, starting in a few hours at noon today, you can start using uber-x here at the airport at prior to today

only uber black was allowed to operate here. that is the high-end ride pairing service that uses commercial drivers. uber-x hires drivers that are like you and me and average joes. local cabbies went on a two-day strike last month refusing to pick up passengers in protest. upset with the city of san jose decision to start allowing ride sharings like uber and lyft to operate at the airport which cabbies say are separate rules. all taxi drivers must submit background checks while only 1% of ber and lyft drivers have to submit to random and security checks. they would like to level the

now it's not going to help you. actually the maze west across the bay bridge solid through the metering lights which don't even have to be on because you can't go past them without any problems. all the way up the incline and over to fremont street where the crash blocks four of your five lanes. only one lane gets by until they can reopen hopefully in a few minutes. we're not even at treasure island just yet. look at your maps. alternates for you. those are having problems, as well. also getting very latest and there is the richmond san rafael bridge and crash at san quentin and that is causing more slowing and your other option the san mateo bridge getting a lot of jam as folks head south and across westbound 92. this is, it looks directly related to that bay bridge problem because you don't usually see that much traffic flow there. the rest of your commute a friday light. some folks avoid the san ateo bridge. and golden gate bridge where there is mist ask drizzle and

back open this morning after a oo westbound i-80 right now in san pablo back open this morning after a shooting investigation shut it down in the middle of last night's commute. you see investigators there with flashlights combing for evidence. the chp finally tracked down the victim at a nearby denny's. police say the victim was in an suv with other people when someone in a sedan opened fire at them. it happened right near the san pablo dam road exit. that suv then hit another car causing some minor damage. the suspect took off. so did the victim. abandoning the suv on the side of the freeway. employees there then called police. the victim is expected to be okay, but investigators say the victim and the shooter knew each other and the general public is not in danger. it is 6:45 right now. one day after his funeral service, those angered by the death of mario woods calling for a "massive protest." friends and family gathered

yesterday to say good-bye to woods. san francisco officers shot and killed him earlier this month. police say he stabbed someone earlier and was refusing to drop his knife. today supporters vow not to let woods' death be forgotten. a federal civil rights lawsuit being filed. today demonstrators are expected to protest in front of police headquarters under the black lives matter banner. they want the police chief to resign and the officer who shot woods to face charges. ahead ofmous here, this is a real issue right now. the consumer product safety commission is warning american consumers of possible fires in hoverboards. >> they were literally the hottest present out there. but why now and not earlier? >> truly a conversation wae all had in the newsroom. how strange that items are tested after the fact. the other thing that issy quite strange. according to a battery expert i talked to and, in fact, such an expert. one of the scientists that

ta15 gallons of buckets. buckets of paint out there on the roadway. >> it was a festivus bucket miracle. holiday spirit. mike will let you know about residual traffic in just a second. there's plenty of it. first, the weather source. kari hall here. >> speaking of microclimates. we have the mist and drizzle going out in san francisco. and then as we look in the south bay, it is completely clear and a beautiful sunrise as you start out. if you are driving and commuting and the way in, you will deal with all kinds of weather this morning. windshield wipers on at some parts of the drive. now, looking at the radar, this rain is literally flying under the radar. it's the mist and drizzle. shooting below the beat of the radar but the heavier stuff. this storm system that will be moving in as we go through the day is still well to the north and will progress to the south as we go into the lunchtime hour for the north bay. so, here's what to expect. this is a live look at san

rafael. the traffic lights coming on through the s curve and rain and drizzle there and then also along the coast. by lunchtime we will have this rain moving in to the south and it may be heavy at times and that approaches san francisco and this evening into the overnight hours. still steady, light rain falling and along the south and east bays and highs today in the mid to upper 50s and reaching the low 60s in a couple of spots. but you just need the umbrella at certain times of the day. we start out dry farther to the south. but as you head to the north, santa rosa will start to see that rain before lunchtime. and then it progresses into san francisco and then over towards oakland, as well, by 3:00 this afternoon. and into the peninsula east bay and south bay by dinnertime. and this could slow down the evening commute. there may be a couple of breaks, but still some light, spotty showers heading into the overnight hours and into the morning tomorrow. here we are at 11:30 and picking

up on the chance of slight rain. you will have a break by saturday afternoon. before the next round moves in on sunday. so, these weather systems are just lining up out in the pacific and behind this one we'll see today there will be another one by sunday afternoon. and then a clear as we go into monday morning. but another one monday night into early tuesday. yes, it will be off and on from now until christmas eve. this is the christmas eve timeline and shows some widespread rain. that may impact the travel. so, make sure you plan ahead and giving you a heads up now. i'm giving you a heads up on the commute now with mike. >> we all mentioned at the desk the lanes have just cleared and great news to start caltrans web camera. you see traffic now, again, flowing. all lanes westbound 80 are open and we do have a smooth drive there. but look at the backup. all across the span. a chopper is over the bay bridge toll plaza side. there are the metering, the toll plaza and the metering lights in the distance that are not on. just solid from the maze and

into san francisco. mist on the lens. slicker roadways and patches, as well. that's up in san francisco and just across that span of the bay bridge. a big recovery time. we look at your map and jammed through berkeley and into the berkeley curve. very unusual for a friday at this time and also slow across the richmond san rafael bridge. one of your options more folks heading over there and the trash had to clear from san quentin and cleared from that off ramp. the san mateo bridge will see more traffic, as well. port of hayward a little bit smoother drive of 92. seeing more traffic, as well. folks are using that as an alternate. aside from the richmond san rafael bridge and the bay bridge which is slow but not so bad as we might expect. south bay and the peninsula. san jose, look, kari is dealing with this difference in weather. gray skies in san francisco and look how beautiful in san jose right now and jammed across that bay bridge and very easy throughout silicon valley and the peninsula. we'll track the changes. back to you guys.
