this evening, mostly dry day, once again. it is cool as you head out and we're expected to reach the mid to upper 50s today with mixture of sun and clouds. we'll talk about that rain coming up in a few minutes. let's see what's happening on the roadways now with mike. >> a full closure for highway 4 eastbound in antioch towards the bridge but things have cleaned up in the last half hour and volume of traffic very light there. north bay 121 at highway 37 and some signal there's and having problems with those signals and be prepared for traffic control and three-way stop right there at the intersections. be prepared for that as you arrive. no problems from the north bay down to the south bay. the traffic flow great for silicon valley and the peninsula. back to you. >> thank you very much now, mike. gun shots happened in san jose killing a man and the search for the suspect continues. happening near the los lagos golf course about 9:30. the victim was pronounced dead

at the scene. kris sanchez making phone calls to police right now gathering information. she'll have an update for us in our next half hour. word on san jose's first homicide of the year. police have this man in custody. accused of murdering his own father. investigators say maxim zhukov stabbed his father to death in their home new year's day and then left his father's body in a car in richmond. police don't know the motive. they're hoping someone will come forward with more information. a dramatic string of events in san leandro last night. they say just before 8:00 a gunman robbed the gas station on washington and fargo avenues and people living nearby were told to stay in their homes as police searched that area. the search of the area was eventually called off. a follow up on a plane crash that killed a gilroy family. the ntsb released a preliminary

report saying a storm formed right before the plane went off the radar. the report says that aircraft broke apart in the air. jason price and olga price and their three children. they were flying to las vegas to attend a party. a near deadly delivery. ja mattison was sleeping in his truck waiting for the coliseum to open when someone tried to break in. he tried to fight back and that's when he was shot. >> there was no doubt at the very beginning i'm going to die right now. and i said, no, not this week. >> luckily, the bullet went through the feet before it hit him. so, that's probably what really saved his life. >> police are still searching for the shooter. as for mattison, he's recovering. but says his 43-year truck

driving career could be coming to an end. a man arrested in sacramento on terrorism charges is due in court today. 23-year-old is reported to have entered the u.s. in 2012 as a refugee from iraq. court documents say he traveled overseas to fight alongside terrorist organizations and use social media to talk about his experience fighting against the regime in syria. a friend in sacramento who did not want to be identified defended al jiab in an interview with nbc last night. >> maybe he would get angry at times, but he would never like say anything like related to terrorism or anything like that. >> federal agents also arrested a suspect in houston. they say tried to provide materials to isis and lied on his citizenship application. a third arrest in milwaukee is said to be connected to that

case, but not related to national security. it is 4:34 right now. let's check in with kari for this friday morning forecast. >> good morning. we are getting ready for the next storm system that is moving in the fourth of this week. you can see it here on the satellite imagery and a couple light spotty showers ahead of that. the rain won't get here until later on this evening and we have several more hours of mostly dry weather and temperatures starting out on the cool side. it's 37 degrees in livermore. in oakland it's 43 and santa rosa now at 42 degrees. here's a look at the way the rain plays out as we go through the day. at 8:00, it's mostly dry and see a couple spotty showers here and there and throughout the late morning and afternoon hours and as we go into this evening, it starts to come down. we'll talk more about that and how much to expect in the microclimate forecast. is it still moving smoothly on the roads, mike?

you made it to friday morning. and that's a really good thing, right? rain or shine. >> which will it be? >> it will be aittle bit of both because we have some sun to start and then the clouds moving in and then the rain later on this evening. so, just be ready for it all. let's take a live look outside right now. we get the day started and you move across the bay bridge with no issues starting out the day and you just want to keep the umbrella in the back seat of the car in the trunk. as we will start to see some showers moving in, it starts out spotty and gets heavier as we go into tonight. so, looking at the radar satellite, we see a couple light showers well ahead of the main storm system, which is set to arrive later on thievening. when it gets here, we will have some heavier rain just briefly and we're not expecting any severe weather at this point. so now it's 45 degrees in san francisco and the south bay 40 degrees and 37 degrees in the east bay. let's drop in on the south bay.

look at how cold it is now in gilroy. we are one degree above freezing. so, some frost on the car starting out the day. 39 degrees and willow glen is at 36 degrees. 41 in the north bay as the clouds start to move in. highs today will reach into the mid up toer 50s. and you could see the sun will peek out from behind those clouds at times and then more clouds moving in later this evening as we prepare for some rain shortly after dinnertime. here's a look at what we are expecting as this storm system moves in. the radar may look like this. we will have some light, spotty rain throughout the morning and early afternoon. but it will be very hit or miss and then by 6:00 a slightly better chance of rain and then it becomes more likely by 1:00 in the morning with some heavy downpours at times and then it moves out of here in time for you to enjoy saturday afternoon. rainfall totals with this system look to be about 0.25 in oakland and slightly higher for santa

rosa and less amounts for san jose and the sierra. another four to five inches of snow and lesser amounts that we've seen with previous systems. forecast starts out with some rain early tomorrow and then afternoon sunshine and then by sunday we're looking cool, sunny and a bit breezy. we'll take another look at the forecast coming up in a few minutes but let's see if you're slowing down with the morning commute with mike. >> not yet, kari. it's friday. we're expecting a lighter volume of traffic. what did happen in the last few minutes. so far no problems across the bay. bay bridge over the water very smooth. let's look at your maps and we're looking at the rails. the b.a.r.t. trains move well and 25 trains running with no delays and just easing into the morning commute on the rails. we do have this signal problem 121 at highway 37 top of your screen and the north bay. that will hopefully be cleared up before the bulk of the morning commute comes over from vallejo. so far no update.

francisco are trying to something new. they sent letters to airbnb the city is asking to require hosts to people who rent out their homes that have city issued registration numbers and provide addresses of those properties. the problem is, the city can't get property owners to comply with all those new laws and they can't figure out who they are. so the city is looking to the website to help deactivate listings that don't comply with new laws. it is 4:56 right now. super bowl 50 will cost the city of san francisco at least $4 million. "the chronicle" most costs will go to transportation and police. san francisco will host events all week long. the mayor's office says the cost is minor compared to the anticipated revenue from the thousands of tourists who will attend. new details maybe some new
