a bart train at the west oakland station. that station closed until this morning for the investigation. nbc bay area is joining us live in oakland with more on the hunt for the killer. >> bart leaders say this appears to be the first shooting death ever on a bart train. it's left a lot of passengers on edge today. >> very nervous. >> mahdi scott says after a man was shot and killed on a bart train last night she noticed the difference when she rode bart today. >> everybody is on pins and needles. you could see it. even on the train it doesn't feel comfortable. it doesn't. somebody lost their life, you know, on a public transportation, you know? scary. >> reporter: the shooting happened around 8:00 on a train that just pulled into the west oakland station. witnesses say a man walked through a few cars and then shot to death another man. >> i heard two gunshots. >> reporter: she was riding in the same car where the man was

killed. >> there were just people running out and it was really crammed on the stairs. people were like pushing each other. >> reporter: last night bart police surrounded and detained a man at a nearby bus stop. they questioned him and then let him go. today bart investigators are interviewing witnesses and reviewing video from surveillance cameras as they continue to search for the killer. that suspect is described as a bald african-american man, 6'3", with a slim build. he was last seen wearing a green hoodie, jeans, and military-style boots. if you have any information which could help bart police solve this case, please contact bart police. reporting live from oakland, marianne favro, nbc bay area news. natural causes, that's what the newly reloose awed top si shows about a controversial inmate death at the santa clara jail. he died in september one week after guards sprayed him with

pepper spray and forcibly removed him from his cell. however, the santa clara county medical examiner says that he sdid from a blood infection and other chronic health issues. those included high blood pressure and drug use. his death is one among many. santa cruz three deputies, he was severely beaten by the jail guards. and the hunt is on if this woman. police say she purposely hit a police officer with her car. this happened in daily city on friday. the officer was trying to arrest denise davis when police say davis rammed him with her car. davis ran away from the scene on foot. also important to know, she's done it before. davis was already wanted for striking a different person with her car. if you see davis or know about her whereabouts call daily city police. law enforcement not mincing words about the incident. contra costa pd tweeted linked

the soccer league is suing saying the nfl's plan violates prior agreements that called for the land light use rather of the land. now, the city offered the league another field but it's not regulation size. the new hearing on this issue is scheduled for tomorrow. in the meantime a judge ruled the nfl could use the land until a decision is made. the nfl commissioner is calling coliseum unsatisfactory and inadequate. that's what roger goodell wrote in a report this weekend. this is the latest in the saga to get at least one team in los angeles. it gave the l.a. times a brief on this report yesterday. it comes after the oakland raider, shaeng charger, and st. louis rams submitted paperwork to relocate to l.a. in that report goodell did not make any recommendation about which team should move but reportedly said none of the teams had good incentives to stay in their home markets. all nfl team owners will vote to

hollywood about making a biopic of his life. authorities say those communications led to el l el chapo's arrest. in prison in mexico. could be extradited to the u.s. authorities are hoping to talk to sean penn about that meeting with el chapo. the recent rains are helping to fill a reservoir across california. this is video from yesterday up at alpine lake. you can see the water coming out of the lake which is also a reservoir. pouring on down. however, there's still a long way to go at other places across the state. in order to undo the damage there done by our four-year drought. the national weather service released an update on how empty some of california's major water reservoirs are. they're 27% full now. supposed to be about 50% this time of year. now, like oroville is at 30% capacity. its average this time of year is

47%. so a long way to go. all right. here's meteorologist rob mayeda with that forecast. >> we did really well last week. we had about four to six inches plus of rain around the not bay. a couple more opportunities for more substantial rain. but in the meantime right now, 56 degrees, increasing clouds in san jose. livermore after morning fog and mist. still chilly. 52 degrees. 52 with increasing clouds into san francisco. and storm number one of three, the weakest of the bunch. starting to toss some showers approaching the santa cruz mountains along the coast and rain heading down towards los angeles. right around the start of looks like the golden globe awards. going to see some rain from north to south. this system again offshore here followed up by a stronger system that should roll in tuesday into wednesday. so storm number one coming in as we head through this evening and for tomorrow morning. mainly some light rain showers which should start to break down and shift off to the north after

about lunchtime tomorrow. and a inrain projections here as we see, less than a quarter inch for most of the bay area. there's a chance some places may get some trace amounts out of this first system. best chance of showers tomorrow, temperatures in the upper 50s around san jose. mid 50s around san francisco and the north bay and tri-valley tomorrow we should see highs in the mid 50s. temperatures actually trendsing a little bit warmer as we approach tuesday out ahead of our next storm system. the mid week storm, bring in the next rain tuesday night on to a very rainy wednesday morning commute. as we see that heavy rain at times pass on by. rain totals affect wednesday's storm half inch to an inch plus. pretty good rain totals there with the system that comes in for the middle part of the week. we have breaks in between. tuesday looks dry. obviously rainy there for thursday. thursday into the first half of friday looks dry. here you go, storm number three for friday, late afternoon into early saturday t. once again, we could see another

half inch to inch and a half of rainfall. so some pretty good storms coming in, spaced out every two to three days as we go through the weekend. making plans for this weekend as things stand right now looks like we will begin it with more rain on saturday, then a brief break on sunday but then we probably will be looking at a little more rain for sunday night into monday. so light rain tonight. stronger system on wednesday. and then storm three coming in there for saturday. as we add everything up as we go through the next seven days, good news here across the bay area as we want to fill those reservoirs all arranged the bay area, northern california, looking at another 2 1/2 inches for parts of the north bay and maybe closing in on three to four inches of rain across northern sonoma county over the next seven days with those three storms in the next seven days taking us into next weekend. back to you. >> rob, thanks a lot. a chilly morning didn't keep these people from checking off exercise from their to do list. got up early to take part in the run the road to super bowl 50. 5k, 10k and kids fun run took
