bullets fly, and a driver is injured. a sickening scene playing out, again, on interstate 80. bullets fly, a driver is injured. yet it's an innocent person on the shoulder of the road that nearly paid the price for the violence. celebrations for broncos fans spilling out on the streets of san jose. the anxious moment for fans waited for the chance to get back to their hotel. finish after seeing very chilly temperatures and all the sunshine we'll get this afternoon will help us make it it into the 70s today. a look at all the microclimates now. 44 degrees and 52 degrees in san francisco and the south bay at 45 degrees. highs today reaching 79 degrees in the south bay and 72 in the east bay. also in the mid-70s while the tri-valley is up to 76 degrees. we'll talk about that warmth and let you know how long that will last. let's see what's happening on the roadways now with mike. >> a lot of folks easing into the workweek after the super bowl celebrations. excuse me. we have the construction or the closures still for super bowl city in san francisco, even though that super bowl 50 is closed, the cleanup has to continue all week. the bay moves very smoothly. the road crews typically there overnight. so i guess everybody was expected to have some recovery after super bowl.

back to you. >> you're exactly right, thank you very much. developing story this morning. the search is on for a gunman after a shooting on a busy bay area freeway. it all happened late last night on 80 near the athian way exit. >> chuck coppola joining us live. chuck, this marks the sixth time a shooting like this has happened on the freeway in just the past couple of months. >> that's right, sam. so far the chp says it believes that these are unrelated. or at least this most recent one was unrelated. chp says this particular incident last night began as some sort of argument between people in two different cars traveling westbound on i-80 around 9:30. that's when a third car that was pulled to the side was hit with cross fire. that car had a window shattered as windows tore across it it wounding a man who stopped to help a woman who pulled over with car trouble. >> ended up with a flat tire. she pulled ooover to the right

shoulder to go and figure out what she was going to do next. call a tow truck or change a tire out. she also had somebody she knew pull over with her. while they were stopped on the shoulder trying to figure out their next course of action, it looked like a suspect for unknown reasons came over and fired two rounds, possibly more. >> the car in the argument took off, according to polices. both cars that had been pulled over to the side were hit with bullts and the man was struck in his arm and chest and brought here with injuries that are described as not life threatening. officer os do not think the victim knew the person who fired the gun, but they are asking anyone who may be aware or may have more information about this particular shooting or argument on westbound i-80 in panol to come forward. reporting live, i'm chuck coppola. >> chuck, thank you very much. on a much lighter note,

super bowl 50 mania. a new champion is crowned. we have full coverage from fan reaction to a very talked about half-time performance all wrapped up in a historic and unforgettable night here in the bay area. new this morning, some bronco fans in denver got a little out of hand during late-night super bowl celebrations. the broncos win sent downtown denver into delarium. large crowds took over the streets. police made a handful of arrests and made tear gas and pepper spray to disperse some rowdy crowds. police say no one was hurt and no significant property damage. so, a little rocky in the rockies. here back at home t was quite a night for bronco fans in the south bay. the celebrations spilling into downtown san jose and even over to the team ohotel in santa clara. hundreds gathered outside of the marriott waiting to greet the world champions. those parties are sure to have gone well into the night.

unfortunately, for many fans to see the game just getting started once the game ended because traffic moved so slowly, perhaps the by-product of 75,000 people all leaving levi's at the same time for people who drove in some cases took them about 20 minutes to move one block. for those who took the light rail, some people spent more than an hour waiting for the train just to get there. meantime, fans who thought they had a great idea booking uber realized they couldn't reach the pick-up lot and had to turn around. >> i don't know how they can go back in the city but we are stuck here and we're waiting. walked all the way here. >> vta tells us 10,000 people took light rail after the game. vta also says that after about an hour, the levi's platforms had mostly been cleared. but we did hear some some fans

exclusive. some hope for frustrated drivers who feel like they've been taken for a ride because of bad repairs or overbilling at auto repair shops. they submit complaints to protect consumers while holding that industry accountable. thousands of those kind of complaints are submitted every year. why are they being kept secret? investigative reporter. >> good morning, that state agency is the bureau of automotive repair and urges its drivers to check out its track records. but we discovered their database isn't exactly the best road map for drivers. consumer complaints aren't posted and we discovered the agency is limited in when it it can actually limit fines and citations to repair shops. we reviewed state data for three years and discovered for about 97% of auto repair complaints that's more than 10,000 complaints each year, auto repair shops never received any kind of discipline or enforcement action.

albt and michelle found one of those complaints after getting their suv back from this repair shop in san jose. they noticed new dents and strange noises but the repair shop told them nothing was wrong. they then got these photos from a former employee who told them their car fell off anima canical lift. he and his co-workers were ordered by their district manager to fix the car as best they could without telling the owners of the suv. in the memo to the couple the district manager admitted there was a cover oup from the shop that took place and blamed it all on his employees. the shop offered the family $6,700 to buy the damaged car, the family is now considering suing the shop for more. after we contacted the bureau of automotive repair an investigator that the shop improve record keeping but

and 50 degrees in the peninsula and the south bay at 45 degrees. now as we get a look at the south bay, morgan hill 48 degrees and downtown at 44 degrees. so, yeah, it's cool as you head out the door. also be breezy. here's a look at the wind forecast. at 8:00 we see the winds blowing off shore and look at the wind speeds in san francisco and oakland and about 23 miles per hour and we'll be relaxing as we go through the day and a light wind and into tonight, mainly calm winds. so, into the day, our temperatures warming up with that breeze. and by 11:00, as we go hour by hour in livermore, we're at 63 degrees 1:00. 69 degrees and into the lower 50s as we go into tonight cooling off very quickly. now, we're looking at all our microclimates. in gilroy up to 77 degrees and, once again, the warm spot half moon bay and embarcadero at 70 degrees and upper 70s else

where. let's check in now with mike and see what's happening on the roadway. >> i'm looking at this because i'm worried about today and tomorrow. the commute looks like a heavier commute for 580 and we knew folks were waiting for the super bowl to be oover. you see the speeds are ookay coming out of the altamont. especially towards san francisco, folks will think super bowl is over and it's all clear. it's not. still have the local closures and they have to deconstruct everything in the area and that could last up until the end of the week for some of those. we're watching the area. so far getting into the city standard fare. we will track the build. coming up next, the denver broncos are the super bowl champs but apparently that's not good for wall street. >> let's see if it's good for landon d oowdy. she had both the panthers and broncos jersey on last week. you happy with how it all turned out? >> hey, sam and laura.

good morning to you both. i think we could have had a better result. >> we knew you were a panthers' fan. >> what can i say? wall street could start the week in the red. futers are lower this morning and the markets are coming off a turbulent week amid the mixed jobs report on monday. all of the major indices ending lower for the week. no major data but retail sales and consumer sentiment. on friday the dow falling 212 points to 16205 and the nasdaq losing 147 to 4363. a denver broncos super bowl win may not necessarily be good for wall street super bowl indicator predicts when an afc team prevails, stocks end in the red. nothing scientific about it. last year new england won the super bowl and s&p 500 ended the year down 0.7%. meanwhile, chipotle is closing

>> pretty amazing. a lot of folks we talked to on twitter and facebook they felt such pride seeing the blue angels fly over the stadium last night. talking about the game and also the half-time show. last night's performance had some fans unimpressed. ♪ i used to rule the world. ♪ >> well, mixed reviews of co coldplay's half-time performance. beyonce and bruno mars later joined the stage and seemed to heat things up. ♪ >> well, the half-time show also featured a montage of former performers in a colorful stadium display of the words believe in love. many people watched the super bowl not just for the game, the half-time show but also those commercials. >> maybe more than most of the people. some very memorable ones last night.

westbound and up the decline eastbound. san mateo bridge and oakland 88 o0 shows a nice drive to the bay bridge where there are no problems. back to you. >> thank you very much, mike. 4:56. happening today, bay area businesses will have the chance to apply for financial help. representatives from the u.s. small business administration will be in santa cruz this morning. they're helping anyone who may have taken some huge financial hits from fishermen to supply companies to seafood distributors and restaurants. high levels of algae have kept other bay area shell fish off limits. any businesses or workers impacted by the closures may be eligible for low-interest federal disaster loans of up to $2 million. laura, also happening today, santa clara university going to offer yet another free vaccination clinic for meningitis following another breakout on campus. three students now infected. that clinic goes from 10:00 a.m.

to 6:00 p.m. at the locatelli student activity center. they gave 1,500 vaccinations at friday's free clinic. university leaders are urging students to get vaccinated. the south bay will soon get a visit from president obama but a few crucial details are still missing. here's what we know so far. the white house issued a statement saying the president will be somewhere around the san jose area a week from this wednesday. he'll make the swing after two days in southern california. the white house will provide more details about the who and the where involved in the president's bay area trip. >> they're not saying much, except that he missed the super bowl window. coming up next, two cars flying down interstate 80 in the east bay exchange bullets on the freeway. yet, it's an unintended target. an innocent driver on the side of the road that nearly pays a price. as the smoke clears and the lights shut off at levi's, we're left with the memories of a pretty spectacular show.
