to me as not life threatening. now, the extent of the injuries was he was inured in the arm and chest when he stopped to help a woman with a flat tire. that's when people in two cars on westbound i-80 described as an altercation with each other fired shots that struck the victim. >> while they were stopped on the shoulder here trying to figure out their next course of action, it looks like a suspect for unknown reasons came by here and fired at least two rounds, possibly more, striking both vehicles and a male victim who had a gunshot wound. it looked like to the arm and possibly his arm into his chest. >> the chp is looking for the people in those two cars that took off and fired while passing the victims on the road side. it all happened on westbound i-80 at about 9:30 last night. investigators do not think that

this incident was related to earlier string of shootings along i-80, also near panol. reporting live in walnut creek, i'm chuck coppola. >> thank you so much, chuck. to much lighter news. super bowl 50 mania and new champion crowned. full coverage from fans to the remarkable performances we certainly do have you covered this morning. what a day in the bay area. celebrations rang out both here and in denver. in denver the fans got a little out of hand. the broncos win sent downtown denver into delirium. police making a handful of arrests. they used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse rowdy crowds but police say no one was hurt and no significant property damage. quite a night for bronco fans in the south bay, as well. celebrations spilled on to downtown san jose streets even over to the team hotel in santa clara. hundreds gathered outside the

marriott waiting to greet the world champions. the parties sure to well have gone into the night. not a lot of people celebrating after the game. what was a dream game come true turn under to a nightmare when they tried to leave levi stadium. traffic bogged down streets for hours. for some folks it took them 20 minutes to get one block. this morning a mad rush on at the airports and can't say that kris sanchez didn't warn you. she joins us live from maneta san jose international airport where a number of fans started their trip home and, kris, i would not be surprised if you were high fiving the bronco fans on their way out of town. >> we may be doing a little bit of that. these folks were told to get here three hours ahead of their flights. flights have not started taking off yet, but a steady flow of traffic so far this morning. that's going to be the same story at sfo and at oakland and, of course, all those charter flights. they're going to be taking to the skies, as well.

but, we did find some fans that didn't wait that long to get out of town. we found people heading home last night. bronco fans were all smiles as they were headed out from the airport. panther fans, though, another story. one told us the plan was always to leave last night but he was pretty happy to leave right after the super bowl. >> well, you know, they played it anyways, but even better now. >> super bowl travelers could impact your commute on b.a.r.t. today, as well, as people take trains to sfo. b.a.r.t. did have record ridership this morning. do plan ahead. and vta trains were packed on super bowl sunday. regular riders may have felt the pinch as some trains went directly to levi stadium. cal trains had more than double the number of riders than usual. you might notice some spillover this morning as fans continue to make their way out of town but with kari's forecast they'll

"today in the bay" bob redell joining us live. the super bowl festivities over the road closures. far from over. >> good morning to you, sam and laura. you can see behind me super bowl city still stands here at the bottom of market in justin herman plaza. started taking apart the temporary structures. super bowl city is a strong complex that takes up justin herman plaza and embarcadero center lawn and my point is it's large and take a long time to

tear down. the roads surrounding super bowl city will remain shut down this week. will not reopen until sunday. that's in spite of the fact that the workers started tearing this down around 3:00 yesterday which is just before kickoff. the effort is there, just so much to be taken down. so, we're talking about another seven days before those road closures around justin herman plaza and market will be reopened. now, even though the game it itself is finished, the super bowl committee has unfinished business. the leaders of the committee will hand over responsibility to the city of houston, which will be hosting super bowl 51. that will be next year. at 8:30 broncos head coach and game mvp von miller will hold one last news conference to talk about their win yesterday before heading back to denver. those are, again, at 8:00 and 8:30 this morning. reporting live here along the embarcadero, bob redell, "today in the bay." we have much more super bowl coverage online at

"today in the bay" tracie potts tracking the numbers for us. tracie, who looks like they might come out on top tomorrow? >> well, the numbers haven't changed in the last few days. just about an hour or so ago. we got a daily tracking poll. university of massachusetts has been doing this every day. what we found is that both bernie sanders and donald trump still have double-digit leads. but there's some fluid numbers when it it comes to republicans and whether or not they're actually going to stick with the person they're now supporting. trudging through snow, wet alleys upstairs and literally pounding the pavement. we caught up with hillary clinton's team trying to make up her double-digit deficit here.

>> people that we've knocked on doors, they really haven't made up their mind. >> reporter: the indecision even worse for republicans. >> we have to win this election. we have to. and we will. if you vote for me. if you nominate me. we will win this election. >> reporter: more than four in ten republicans polled at the university of massachusetts can still change their mind. >> people are looking for people to make decisions. and they're trying to analyze who is the best person to make those decisions. >> reporter: the most solid republicans here, trump voters. >> i don't need your money, i need your vote. >> i feel like he's real. >> reporter: ted cruz now polling third here slammed by the republicans for saying yes to women registering for selective service. back to the democrats, bernie sanders is pointing out differences. clinton voted for the iraq war. he didn't. >> i was right on that issue. hillary clinton was wrong. >> reporter: tomorrow, the voters decide.

and, so, we're talking to the voters and we're watching the polls and the interesting thing in that daily tracking poll and today is the last one, by the way, before the voting tomorrow. the interesting thing there is that twice as many democrats as republicans say that they are satisfied with sticking with the candidate. in other words, they're not likely to switch who they're supporting now and who they're actually going to vote for tomorrow. >> interesting. less on the democratic side. i guess that means larry david is not going to be the pinchman for bernie sanders. >> it's interesting to see, though, really funny. one of silicon valley's most influential leaders is billion dollars less rich this morning. >> rich is kind of a relative term, scott mcgrew, because poor would not exactly be accurate. >> i think laura nailed it on the head there. less rich. reed hoffman is not poor by any standard. but did lose a breathtaking amount of money after shares in the company he founded,

linkedin, plunged 43% on forecast of business ahead. hoffman owns shares that works out to a personal loss of a billion. the markets fell on friday. tough road for wall street. today doesn't look much better. got that jobs number on friday. markets not satisfied with it it. many asian markets are closed today for the lunar new year. so, we say, hey, to landon dowdy. don't say that. maybe i can't. i can do vietnamese. >> i'm not even going to attempt any mandarin. i barely do aenglish. a quick check of your markets. wall street could start the week in the red and futures are lower this morning and the markets coming off a very turbulent week amid the mixed jobs on friday.

earning reports and oil up and down all the magener dexes ending lower for the week. no major economic data and look for reports on retail sales and consumer sentiment. on friday the dow falling 212 points and the nasdaq losing 147 to 4363. scott, back over to you. >> what i was saying off camera but got on camera, i know how to say, i put it it in tell prom teleprompter. the parking service zurp is shutting down its consumer operations in san francisco after it it figured out sending people to park your car any time, any wear didn't scale very well. they will lay off just six people. just six realize figure you're one of those six, it is no small number. we have taukd in the past about watching those luxury service markets. the dry cleaning delivery services and the lunch delivery services and the parking

let's get a cleser look at the east bay now. pleasanton at 43 degrees and 50 in alamo and we have some low 50s in alameda right now. north bay at 45 degrees. as we take it hour by hour in san jose, these temperatures will be jumping up quickly. i mean, we go from 45 degrees at 6:00 to 49. and then up to 61 degrees in two hours and then lunchtime it's 70 degrees and i think 70 is absolutely perfect. we'll be reaching into the mid up toer 70s there. and then with clear skies, we'll cool it it off, once again. we had this dry pattern in place as high pressure sets up that clockwise flow around that high pressure. brings those winds off shore. we've also had a change in the jet stream. that's that flow of upper level winds that carries those weather systems and it is staying to the north of us. we won't have any rain as go into the next few days. and we will, once again, keep this warm. slowly getting a little bit cooler as we go towards the middle of the week.

start to bring those temperatures a little bit closer to normal as we go into thursday. still highs in the upper 60s. we'll talk more about that coming up, but let's see what's happening on the roadways with mike. >> kari, things are going great in oakland. an easy drive right now. no problems up towards the bay bridge toll plaza. the maps we'll show you the same thing as far as the speeds are concerned. just a little blip at the toll mrauz. start to show folks lining up for the cash lanes. another ten minutes until those metering lights turn on. we still have that closure because super bowl city has to be deconstructed and possibly through the end of the week for these closures to continue and we'll have more traffic heading in because a lot of folks took a break from their drive. expect congestion today and tomorrow to hit san francisco. meanwhile right now a smooth, easy drive. you see behind me just a little slowing out of the altamontt pass. we'll show you pal oo alto and the drive here.

how a fight escalated into gunfire. the two men were killed and another in the hospital after shooting outside of an apartment in marin city. deputies say they were called yesterday morning following a fight between a man and woman. they say they were told that knives were involved. gunfire broke out before police arrived. we spoke to a heartbroken mother of one of the victims. >> supposed to die in the streets like that. he wasn't a part of the streets. >> says her son who she identified as 29-year-old was killed. she believes he and the father-in-law may have tried to intervene in the dispute. deputies all involved in the incident knew each other. new this morning, we are still waiting to hear from firefighters about what left one firefighter slightly injured. this happened a little bit after 9:00 last night inside of a house west of 101 in santa rosa. it appears to be suspicious.

no one was inside at the time. the fire caused $100,000 worth of damage. and that firefighter, by the way, suffered a twisted ankle. new details about an explosion on a plane flying over africa last week. somaliay authorities released video allegedly showing two men with a laptap that may have exploded on that flight. the men handing what looks like a computer to a suspect. authorities say one of the men delivering the laptop was an employee. six people are under arrest in connection with the blast. the flight had to make an emergency landing after the bomb blew a hole in the plane. stories of survival emerging now in taiwan as that country tries to rerecover frcover froml earthquake. a 6-year-old girl was rescued and was rushed to a hospital. saturday 6.4 magnitude quake killed at least 38 people in the southern part of taiwan. most of them were inside of a 17-story building that

collapsed. more than 100 people are still believed to be buried. 5:26 coming up, everyone talking this morning about peon manning and his future, but also his counterpower on the panthers. they just played better than us. i don't know what you want me to say. more reaction from cam newton visibly upset after last night's super bowl loss. not the only one trying to get out of town. we've seen a heavier volume of traffic here earlier at maneta san jose. what you can expect even if you're not traveling post-super bowl.

you're a fan or if you're a regular business traveler and you're stuck with the monday hustle bustle. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." 5:34. despite the extra tight security for this super bowl, we learned several aircraft violated restricted air space above the stadium. the faa says three planes crossed into restricted space. one redirected to livermore. now, on the ground, a minor scare as officers responded to a suspicious vehicle near the stadium about 7:15. but police say it was not a threat. while security at the super bowl seemed to be no issue, the turf was another story at levi stadium. players from both teams complained about bad footing and had to change cleats during the first half of the game. 49ers fans know all too well about this reoccurring problem. it's reported that levi stadium turf has been replaced at least six times this season alone. the nfl brought in their own sod expert to install a new field just last month. upended on the field now

with cam newton a lot of folks talking about anyone can win nicely. how are you going to react if you? this weekend was a very mixed bag of emotions for cam newton. on saturday, he was named the league's mvp. not a surprise. but on sunday, newton was not able to follow it up with the ultimate prize. >> they just played better than us. i don't know what you want me to say. >> post-game interview there to kind of walk out understandably he was very upset. obviously, very frustrated and emotional after that loss. meanwhile, there were some tough questions for the winning quarterback, as well. he was certainly smiling a lot more than cam. at 39 years old peyton manning becomes the oldest quarterback to win a super bowl. the second title in his career, but after the game, the attention was focused on whether or not this was manning's final

between this shooting and any previous one. >> so far we don't believe that there is a connection. now, the gunshot victim involved in this recent incident happened last might. he was shot in the arm and chest and he is recuperating here here in walnut creek. we're atold his injuries are no life-threatening. bullets shattered a window while injuring a man who stopped to help a woman who had car trouble. it happened on westbound 880. chp believes the man and woman were innocent bystanders when a high-speed altercation between passing drivers erupted in gunfire. >> a vehicle ended up with a flat tire. she pulled oover to the right shoulder to go ahead and figure out what she was going to do next. she also had somebody that she knew pull over with her. while they were stopped on the shoulder here trying to figure out their next course of action, it looks like a suspect for unknown reasons came by here and fired at least two rounds,

possibly more. >> again, this happened around 9:30 last night. all lanes of i-80 wered for about an hour. now, the chp wants anyone with more information about the shooting, the cars or the people involved to contact them. officers, as i said earlier, do not believe that this recent shooting is related to any of the otherings that have happened along this stretch of highway in the east bay. reporting live in walnut creek, i'm chuck coppola, "today in the bay." puppy safe and sound after being caught in a very rough spot. >> the dogs cries for help caught the attention of a south bay police officer. san jose police released these pictures of that rescue. the department says that an officer was on patrol on sebastian drive about 10:00 on saturday night. police say when the officer investigated the cries, he found the puppy stuck inside of a storm drain. several officers showed up to help free that dog from the drain. and back to his owner. >> there you go.

a touch warmer than yesterday, if you like the warmth. as we take a live look now at san jose. it it is cool to start. you still do need a jacket. don't think it's really summertime out there. it's still february. but as we take a look now at that seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, our temperatures will be going down over the next few days. and not a lot of rain in this forecast. as we are now at 46 degrees in the north bay and east bay, peninsula and south bay or san francisco, rather, is at 52 degrees. as we get a closer look, we do have upper 50s and pacific heights now at 57 degrees and here's a look at the bigger picture now. we had high pressure keeping our weather nice, but we need this thing to move out of the way. it's blowing the winds off shore with the flow around the high pressure moving in a clockwise direction. it will keep it warm. also, we had a change in the jet stream. that's the flow of those upper level winds. it's taking those areas of low pressure and the rain well to the north of the bay area. but it looks like we'll be stuck

in this pattern forilatal while, but our temperatures will be backing off just a little bit. into the next three days. we will have highs still in the 7 o0s in the south bay. the peninsula will be dropping back into the mid-60s san francisco staying just about the same. see that trend else where across the bay area. just to put this in perspective. in livermore we should be at 59 degrees this time of year and look at where we'll be today. 76 degrees. and we will stay above average all throughout the week. even on friday as we see those temperatures dipping down. we're still about six degrees above normal. let's check in now with mike to see how the roadways are moving. >> kari, overall things are moving really well. bay bridge toll plaza where the metering lights are on and a bigger backup for most of last week and looking from west 80 and coming through hercules and a crash trying to get two vehicles to the shoulder. consider your left two lanes

now to an investigative unit exclusive. there had been new hope for frusted drivers who feel like they've been taken for a ride because of bad repairs or overbilling at auto repair shops. they can submit their complaints to a california state agency to protect consumers while holding that accountable. why are they being kept secr secret? bigad shaban has been looking into that. >> inkrms drivers to check out its website to look up the track record of repair shops across california. their database is not exactly the best road map for drivers. consumer complaints aren't posted and the agency is limited when it can actually limit fines

and citations to repair shops. we reviewed state data for the past three years and discovered that for about 97% of auto repair complaints, that's more than 10,000 complaints each year, auto repair shops never received any kind of discipline or enforcement action. albert and michelle filed one of those complaints after getting their suv back from this midus repair shop. they noticed strange noises coming from the car and the repair shop. their car fell off a mechanical lift and also told the couple he and their co-workers were ordered by their district manager and were told to fix the car without telling. there was a cover up from the shop that took place, but he denied any involvement and blamed it all all on his employees. why the shop offthered family
