it is friday, february 12th. coming up on "early today," life threatening wind chills a polar vortex is hitting the northeast while the west coast faces the exact opposite. riding high after new hampshire. bernie sanders took a few punches in the former first lady on debate night. the kind of criticism that we've heard from senator sanders about our president i expect from republicans. i do not expect for someone running for the democratic nomination to succeed president obama. >> that is -- [ applause ] madam secretary, that is a low blow. >> and the fbi is looking into a deadly machete attack at a columbus restaurant as a possible terror attack.

up next, politics. the two presidential candidates faced off in milwaukee, from attacking president obama to sparring over immigration, civil rights, even henry kissinger. >> she talked about getting the approval, support or mentoring of henry kissinger. now, i find it rather amazing. because i happen to believe that henry kissinger was one of the most destructive secretaries of state in the modern history of this country. i am proud to say that hengry kissinger is not my friend. i will not take advice from henry kissinger. >> i know journalists have asked who you do listen to on foreign policy and we have yet to know who it is. >> well, it ain't henry kissinger. that's for sure. >> one of the biggest back and forth came when clinton jabbed sanders for not supporting president obama. >> today senator sanders said president obama failed the presidential leadership test and

and the father and son taking into custody arrested, faces several charges stemming an incident with law enforcement years ago in nevada. and two remain in a hospital an frightening attack inside an ohio restaurant. >> that call about a man in a head scarf came in shortly after 6:00 p.m. local time. this, on thursday. the man entered the nazareth restaurant and reportedly began attacking people with a machete. it's a mediterranean restaurant. diners threw chairs and other objects to stop the attack. he ran and was pursued by a helicopter. minutes later, the suspect was stopped and police unsuccessfully tried to taser

him and he then lunged at officers with a machete and a knife and he was fatally shot. the fbi is assisting in the investigation here. officials say as of now they are not calling it terrorism. at least 49 inmates are dead following a prison battle between rival drug gangs in northern mexico. mexican officials say the fight started around midnight thursday at the prison between the infamous zedas gang and another group. authorities say there was no gun fire. officials say the situation is now under control and ruled out the possibility of a prison break. family members gathered, some crying, awaiting news of loved ones. the riot comes less than a week before pope francis is scheduled to visit another prison farther north. and predicted by albert einstein in 1815. over 100 years later we finally heard this --
