weather will come in the bay. >> good morning. >> definitely confirmed this morning, rain, snow and mayhem in the works for the weeks moving forward. kari hall is moving with your forecast. not mayhem, but more rain. >> we need the rain and the snow the next several days and continues for a span of the weekend into next week. now, temperatures in the low to mid 50s as you head out. as that clears out today we will have a mix of sun and clouds and evening showers for the north bay and possibly san francisco. i will talk more about that. i can see the fog is getting thicker in the north bay. how are the roads looking? >> we use these visual cues to see how things are changing.

this is san rafael and may develop into an issue in the next half hour or so. look at the speed sensors, fine coming to mill valley as well. a smooth drive for most of the bay, your typical overnight construction crews. there is a possibility at the dumbarton. >> two candidates leading the pack, as expected, going into super tuesday, hillary clinton and donald trump both feeling victorious after a successful super tuesday. despite the turnout and numbers, still anybody's race. >> there still is a lot of concern. >> kris has the numbers. what do you have? >> the two leading candidates enjoying a resounding victory. the candidates that came in third, fourth and fifth promi

promising it's not over. hillary clinton won 7 of 11 states in purple. she has 979 delegates, 41% of the number she needs to clench that nomination. bernie sanders not doing too po poorly. on the republican side more col colorful. donald trump did pick up more states, ted cruz picked up these states. marco rubio won minnesota. and john kasich and ben carson didn't win any states. donald trump is saying he will be a unifier and defeat clinton in the general election. clinton also has her sighting on

november and donald trump. >> instead of building walls we will break down barriers. >> once we get this finished, i will go after one person, hillary clinton. >> ted cruz did use his speech last night in his home state of texas did say the only way to defeat donald trump is for all the other candidates to drop out of the race. that does not seem to be happening at this point because john kasich still has his own home state coming up and marco rubio still with his own home state and we have a more interesting race ahead of us. voters seem to be energized by this action and wildness in the primary. there was turnout in all but one state that held the contest. don't forget our primary is this summer. >> feels like an eternity, doesn't it? >> it's kind of exciting, fun to watch and so much participation. >> love the fact that the voters are energized but everyone is sho

shouting. they can talk in normal voices. now that we know the results, let's turn live in our san francisco newsroom with some reaction. >> good morning. you heard in kris's report and hillary and donald. they're talking about each other. what's clear, there focusing more on each other than talking about their inparty rivals. some confidence. they both spoke from florida. trump is confident he's securing groups from different backgrounds, varying degrees of education. he's also winning the evangelical vote and that was big in alabama. trump won heavily there, a setback for the texas senator who has been counting on the evangelical vote. clinton also scored her best victory of the night in alabama, she got 79% to sanders 19%. what's telling here is the black vote. that makes up 59% of the

democratic electorate. 93% of black voters backed clinton. overall super tuesday the res t results to cement her as the clear party candidate, results on june 7th, could play a bigger role than it has in the past. >> california, that late primary with all of its delegates could go rushing in and make the difference. this may be -- we don't know yet. this may be one of those times california is not just an atm but actually a source of votes as well. >> the next three big dates are march 5th, march 8th and march 15th, and five more including florida. that is a winner take all state. lots coming up here. big question for the gop is should we be backing donald trump? is it a done deal? more from the experts coming up in the next half hour.

the community has expressed frustration with his suggestion to arm his officers with stun g guns. rallying outside the courthouse in san francisco on the first day of a controversial wrongful death trial of four san francisco police officers. >> a crowd of 400 were there on behalf of the family of the 28-year-old city college student police shot and killed two years ago. his parents are suing them for firing at their son and hitting him 14 times. they're calling it a victory celebration. >> this is a victory because we have gotten to this trial stage. usually our voice are not even heard. >> the officers say he pointed a weapon at them and they fired in self-defense during a confrontation. the weapon turned out to be a stun gun he carried for his job as a security guard. the family's attorney expects

probation hearing related to his past conviction of domestic violen violence. apple filed its official appeal of a court order it open an iphone 5 for one of the san bernardino shooters. tuesday, both apple and the fbi testified before congress explaining their side of the story. you see fbi director, james comey testifying here. two new bits of information came out during his testimony. one, he said there were other iphones the fbi wants to open if they make a tool. it is counter to what they said that they wanted it to open this iphone and will destroy it afterwards. they said they made a mistake when they reset the i cloud. if they had not they might have been able to use the automatic backup feature to see what's inside. let's go to landon to cnbc

relocated, they were victimized all over again. >> spending the past three months uncovering this story. >> good morning. it's happening at group homes. these are modern day orphanages funded by the government to care for kids and teens pulled from their families because of abuse and neglect. we found occasions of children being beaten and truck -- dr drugged in the form of discipline. they can have anywhere from 4 to over 100 children. there have been 815 violations at bay area group homes that pose an immediate risk to children according to data we obtained from the california department of social services. that agency is in charge of licensing and inspecting group homes. while they can act immediately when children are in danger, the process to shut down a poorly performing group home can take a

seen an earthquake of that size. obviously a very serious situation we will continue to monitor. locally now, a bay area campus is on high alert this morning after 29 people started showing symptoms of the norovirus. joining us live from uc berkeley. there are already three confi confirmed cases of people who have that virus. >> that, sam, is why the university health services is issuing this warning, advisory, if you are sick and go to cal, they're asking you to stay home in case you're carrying the norovirus which is highly contagious. within the last 24 hours, they released this flyer for staff and students and notifying the doctors have confirmed three people at the school have norovirus and 29 more have noro-like symptoms. health services found no link between the cases in terms of coming from one dorm, eating

mental illness. >> michael tire re, he was loved and he mattered. it doesn't matter what these y guys did to him, nothing changes that. >> another inmate is expected to testify today about being beaten by the same three guards also on the night tyree died. if convicted they could face life in prison. >> follow-up, san francisco supervisors giving thumbs down to proposed new dog regulations. the national park service is trying to limit on and off dog access including ocean beach, chrissy field, land's end and one other. the new rules would cut out about 75% of the space where dogs are now allowed. supervisors announce their opposition to that plan in part because it would force more dog owners to use city parks. the open commentary will end in

the bay bridge, you can barely see the top of it as the fog shrouds the top. we have more fog moving in. just high enough for everyone to make it out okay without seeing visibility. in san francisco, 56 degrees and 54 degrees in san carlos. we are tracking this next system still well out in the pacific. over the next couple of days, as that advances closer, scattered showers moving in late tonight. the 7-day forecast comes up, you will see how wet it will be the next seven days. it won't be until 11:00 we start to see the rain moving to the north bay and progresses to san francisco early tomorrow morning and south bay in time for the morning commute. today, we're looking at temperatures a few degrees lower. we'll bring it back to the mid-60s for pacifica, as well as san francisco and 70s in a few spots has temperatures trending

closer to average for the beginning of march. into the weekend, we have several more systems moving in. the scattered showers tonight and tomorrow, won't be much of that but potentially heavy rain with gusts up to 50 miles an hour and could cause power outages and heavy rain and damage saturday night and sunday. updates right here. between now and the next seven days, a possibility of maybe 3, 3 1/2 inches of rain for parts of the south bay all across the bay area. i'll have more updates coming up but mike is tracking a problem in the south bay. >> that's right. everybody else moving well right now. sounds dramatic, a crash, south 280 just past lawrence expressway has traffic blocked and debris and overturned cars. aone point they said we have

on suspicion of kidnapping a woman and two young boys and taking police on a huge pursuit through orange county. this wasthy result. eventually he pulled over and negotiated with police and then took off again and taken into custody. >> a wild chase there. >> children suffering from physical and sexual abuse and even lack of food. >> these children were already victims of abuse and neglect and when they were pulled from their families and relocated to government facilities for their protection, they were victimized all over again. spending the past three months uncovering this story. >> reporter: good morning. it's happening at group homes, modern day orphanages funded by the government to care for their kids and teens pulled from their family because of abuse or neglect. we got reports of children being beaten and drugged as a form of discipline. there are 166 group homes across

the bay area that can have anywhere from 4 to 100 children. we discovered over the past five years, there have been 815 violations at group homes that pose an immediate risk to children according to information we received from the california department of social services. the agency said they can act immediately to force change at a group home when children are in danger, the process to shut down a poorly performing group home can take a while which means kids and teens can continue to live in a facility cited for posing an immediate risk to children. a new law ends to eliminate group homes in this state by 2021. that means individual counties have to recruit a lot more foster families willing to take in the children as well as doing a better job to find relatives of those kids who might be willing to open up their homes. back to you. >> thank you. if you have a tip, give us a
