oh a high-stakes day at the polls. two states could shore up the nomination. we have full analysis and live report. trying to fix a gaping hole in moraga. the sinkhole that is still eating up space and causing issues for that town. good news for those waiting for a warm shower. plus, a violent scene in san shun that had investigators on scene all night. way. here's meteorologist kari hall. >> warmer temperatures than yesterday. 40s in the north bay and we do have low 50s in san francisco. so, as you head out the door, make sure you're wearing some long sleeves and we'll be taking it off today as our highs warm up to 67 degrees in the south bay and the peninsula. 63 in the east bay and san francisco. will be a very nice day and more of those beautiful days ahead. i'll detail that coming up in a few minutes and an update on the bay bridge from mike. >> sam's arms are longer. looking at the bay bridge and nice, easy drive across the span. camera shakes from emoryville and means a breeze, but not a concern for drivers. just fine across that span. that closure in moraga but the rest of the bay, no major concerns and we have an event over here in the south bay. sap center, guys. back to you. >> thanks a lot, mike. do or die for several republican candidates vying for

the white house. >> five states go to the polls later today to pick their presidential nominee. "today oin the bay" kris sanchez. >> if you love politics this would be a bad day. illinois, missouri, north carolina and the big two to watch are, of course, florida and ohio. those are key states because two of the republican candidates have hinted that if they don't win at home, they may be done. florida is, of course, marco rubio's home state and it is a winner take all with 99 delegates at stake. ohio is governor john kasich's home state and also winner take all. 66 delegates there. according to the latest nbc news/"wall street journal" marist poll donald trump leads in florida and second in ohio. if he wins both of those states he would be the republican nominee. if he does not win both of those states, it will be selected at

organized opposition could be materializing. one local activist launched a facebook page called fight trump violence. he can hoping to hold a protest today 555 california street a building 30% owned by mr. trump. it is supposed to take place at noon. homecoming for chelsea clinton this week. the stanford grad is actually coming to the bayaria. she is going to be fund-raising for her mother. the 36-year-old clinton will headline two fund-raisers next monday the first one hosted in palo alto and the second fund-raiser will be in san francisco. hillary clinton will be on the peninsula for fund-raisers next wednesday. now, to continuing coverage of that sinkhole in moraga. >> we're continuing, laura, this morning on repair work and pg&e crews are out monitoring the situation. they're trying to restore heat to the 2,500 customers whalost

their gas. last night heat was restored to a portion of that customer base. a four inch gas line ruptured sunday afternoon when the surface around the sinkhole just gave way. city officials believe water rushing through a storm drain underground might have caused the initial collapse. pg&e was working quickly taget gas restored. >> we'll visit 500 homes an hour and just depend on how many of those customers are home. >> bob redell right now is at the scene. a live report on the crew's progress coming up in about half an hour. police in san francisco investigating a shooting in the outer richmond district. happened before 11:00 p.m. on 44th avenue near clemente street. getting very limited information of us now but we know investigators were on the scene all night and the coroner was called out. we'll bring you more details on the shooting as soon as we get them. no need to wait on details for your forecast. >> right here, right now. >> in the house. ready to go. what have you got for us?

hopefully something warm, kari. >> little bit warmer than yesterday. as we look at the current temperatures. 46 in concord and we do have some 40s this morning, although it is cooler than it was yesterday at this tame and we are looking at temperatures this afternoon that will be warmer. up to 67 degrees in san jose and the embarkidario up to 63 degrees. upper 60s for napa while oakland is at 64. and today in liverkeep more we're looking at 62 degrees. an update on owhat is happening on the roads, let's check in with mike. >> the san mateo bridge. easy, clear view and move up towards that bay bridge and i promised you that shot and i don't want to fall through on that shot. breeze hits the emoryville side and looking over towards treasure island. the map will show you the same thing for the speed sensors. anywhere south of here no problems for the peninsula and the south bay. want to move you up. crash over at tennessee and off of the roadway and no major

stalker," who was convict of kiing night stalker accused of killing more than a dozen women and children in the 19 0s might have had some help. his home invasion crime spree terrorized the residents of los angeles and later those here in the bay area. sources are now telling "new york post" that san francisco police identified a second man in the rape and death of a 9-year-old girl. prosecutors are telling "the post" there's not enough evidence to charge anyone with the crime. as for ramirez, he died in 2013 from cancer. we are getting more details this morning on a stabbing in countten san jose that was witnessed by the suspect's brother. stabbing happened yesterday night on a home in palm street just blocks away from 2 0 and highway 87. police say the suspect stabbed his mother before turning the knife on himself. the mother is in critical condition and the suspect died at the scene.

investigators are still trying to figure out what led up to it all. this peninsula railroad security guard facing charges for committing lewd acts inside of a parkd car. 35-year-old luke is from san carlos and arrested in palo alto last week. a security guard on the train tracks near gun high school. he was suspected by cypress security, the company that he works for, after that arrest. the man accused of beating a bay area nurse to death outside a fairfield mosque says he's not guilty. 19-year-old william king entered his plea in court yesterday. king beat the victim with a bat outside of solano town center last month. investigators say he was trying to steal her purse. coming up next, a new way to get around. we'll tell you about the partnership between a ride sharing company and a bay area transportation company.

see how our temperatures will warm over the next several days and before you know it, we'll be having 70s all across the bay area. but now it is cool out there. we have low 40s in livermore and santa rosa, as well as napa. 47 in san jose. let's go hour by hour in san jose. at 7:00 we'll feel temperatures at 47 and then rising into the low 50s by the late morning hours. and then as we go through the day, we're lacking at some mid-60s. it will be a touch warmer than it was yesterday. and looking at the futurecast, it shows absolutely nothing over the next several days. won't be until late sunday evening when we start to see that rain moving in and looks like it will linger into the start of the day on monday. so, that's our next significant chance of rain. over the next three days high pressure continues to build and temperatures will warm. highs in the upper 70s on thursday and then come back down koppel of degrees on friday. still mostly sunny and all across the bay area, some upper

60s to lower 70s and then down to 64 degrees in the east bay on friday. looking at that weekend forecast, i know it's only tuesday, but you're probably already making some plans and it will be a beautiful weekend to get out there. once again, wale have that chance of rain returning late on sunday. temperatures that will be in the lower 60s for the north bay and san francisco and some low 70s for the tri-valley, as well as the south bay. i'll have another look at the forecast coming up. let's get an update on what is hang out there as you head out towards the tri-valley with mike. >> kari, here's a live shot. i want to mention you talk about the better weather over the next few days and that may mean more motorcycles on the roadway and smaller vehicles appearing in your rearview mirror and keep that in mind. over here this roadway moving well. 580 westbound an easy drive in through livermore and into dublin out of livermore and an easy drive out of the altamont pass. we'll show you this is where the closure is just off of moraga

revealed in the coming weeks. also happening today, a hearing on self-driving cars. according to reports, the director of google self-driving car project will testify on capitol hill. pushing google safe and effective autonomous car. a congressional committee that is holding the hearing is looking at ways at how the government can promote innovation. march madness with some very mixed emotion this morning for the highly regarded cal bears. the university fired an assistant coach after accusations of sexual harassment. turning into disappointment when they heard about the dismissal of the assisten. the investigation into that coach began last summer and we are told that the person who accused the coach is not affiliated with cal. we're working to find out more about those allegations. he could not be reached for comment. for many students and players his dismissal came as a big surprise. >> i was pretty shocked. i actually know him personally.

yesterday we had brian hickey from our nbc affiliate reporting from doner. that was a heck of a lot of snow. >> that was great. a good time to be in tahoe. how quickly is it going to melt, kari? >> i think it will melt over the

next few days. talking about highs in the 50s there and no more snow on the way. how are we doing here? as statewide averages at 92%. so, we're not at 100% all across the board, but we're doing the best in the northern tier where it is 102%. compare that to last year where it was 16% and we're getting so close to that all-important april 1st snow pack measurement. so, definitely will be watching those numbers as you make your weekend plans here in the bay area, highs in the 60s and low 70s and some beautiful weather saturday and sunday. what's happening on the roadways, mike? >> most of the major roadways are doing well. in napa county 121 at 128 still closed because of the storm activity and all the damage done. that's the area for napa county. and over here the drive across the golden gate bridge. that truck moving and that zipper truck getting the center divide ready for the morning commute and we'll go to oakland where traffic flows well.

from fire hydrants to man hole covers but critics say we may need this equipment when the big earthquake hits. thousands of pumps throughout the city to get watter to firefighters if the pump breaks. move thousands of gallons of salt water a minute. but dozens of cast iron pipes have been sitting in storage for years and now they're getting auctioned off. >> put that money to work for us right now to benefit the city instead of sitting in a yard doing nothing. >> the fire department says the city's water supply is safe. officials say there are other back ups like water tanks buried under water. >> you might need a fire hydrant tacool down some of these candidates here coming up, though. i'm getting ahead of myself. >> you're so excited when it comes to politics. maybe changes could be coming, though, to a dangerous street in san francisco. >> here's the thing. according to the san francisco examiner, the transportation board will look into a $12
