finish with high temperatures today reaching 73 degrees in the east bay. 74 in the north bay and sfo up to 73 degrees and more 70s in the forecast heading into the weekend and i'll have an update on that. let's head over to traffic to get an update on the east bay with mike. >> you see traffic is relatively light and coming northbound the direction with the taillights where there was an earlier issue. a lot of wood decanbry across lanes and traffic was backed up back to hayward. quickly recovered about 5 minutes since they cleared that and the second eastbound board there was a stall just outside that tunnel. again, all lanes are clear but activity on the mirinda side. right now following breaking news in san francisco this morning. an hour's long standoff finally over. this has been playing out all night and started about 7:00.

police say the suspect in this case stabbed his wife two times. his wife is expected to survive. it happened in the bay view neighborhood. the area surrounding underwood avenue and genings street which was surrounded by police. still working tafind more information about the suspect and bring you more when it comes into the newsroom. continuing coverage this morning of the terror attacks in belgium. the memorial there continues to grow and people continue to visit. new details this morning. belgium media is reporting a second suspect may have been involved in the subway attack and still on the loose. in the meantime, the search for a man in light colored clothing seen in this picture continues. we'll have much more and possible second suspect is all coming up in a live report from brussels in about ten minutes. and happening today, the alleged mastermind behind the terror attacks in paris expected

in court. ab 130 people were killed in those attacks in paris last november. a follow up now. the bearded bandit expected of robbing a dozen bay area banks is in jail this morning. he was recognized buying razors to shave that beard. after the police were called, the man took off in a car leading officers on a chase through brentwood but he was eventually caught. investigators say he likely hit more than 15 banks. the fbi has not released the bandit's name. happening today, south bay police officer honored after dying in the line of duty. >> officer michael johnson died exactly a year ago. the 14-year veteran was responding to a suicidal man

when he was shot and killed. bob redell is live in san jose and plans to honor his memory by donating a portion of highway in his name. >> sam and laura, the city, the state and the san jose police department later this morning will dedicate this stretch behind me. we're talking about the stretch between highway 85 and interstate 2 0. they'll dedicate this as the "san jose police officer michael johnson memorial highway. the new name posted on signs that will soon go up along side the road. he was killed in the line of duty exactly one year ago today. he and his fellow officers were responding to reports of a suicidal man. this was at an apartment complex on center road in san jose. that man shot and killed officer johnson. the suspect was killed, that man, when another officer returned fire. this stretch of highway 87 is

speci special. she and her son used to ride their bicycles on it it when they were constructed in the 1990s. th the dedication ceremony taking place at 10:00 at the great oaks parkway police substation. reporting live here in san jose, bob redell "today in the bay." >> thank you very much, bob. at 4:35 right now. they can't go back home. tenants fighting to return to their apartments that are literally hanging on the edge of a cliff. last night tenants argued that the building is still standing and they want back in. many tenants say that they're homeless right now. after hours of testimony, commissioners voted to deny that appeal saying that lives would be endangered if they were allowed back. the building owner says he plans to appeal that commission's decision. we'll keep watching that decision. what are we in store for today? it's been nice. >> hint, hint. very similar to what we saw yesterday. >> yes.

and even a touch warmer in spots. so, we'll bring it up a couple of degrees, but, still, it is chilly as you head out the door and get the day started. 50 degrees in san carlos and 41 in napa and san jose is at 48 degrees and 72 for a high and 71 in palo alto. low 70s also for the north bay, east bay and the tri-valley. speaking of the tri-valley. mike, you have something going on there? >> first of all, don't worry. it's not at the dublin interchange. westbound 580 heading over towards that scene. look at your map, back over here going out of the altamont pass. reports of a stalled semi truck. it was over on the shoulder and someone was sticking out and consider that one unusable. folks are moving over towards the left and right where you get the express lane and things start to clear a bit. there may be a crash in the area, as well. chp will give us an update in a few. we'll send it right back to you. >> thank you, mike. coming up next, a live

"today in the bay" steve handelsman is live in brussels this morning. >> steve, new details coming out this morning. is belgium media reporting a second suspect in the subway attacks might be at large but the brussels bombers were directly related to the paris attacks. good morning. >> good morning, sam, laura. it's clear here that police are unclear about exactly how many people are looking for. just as they were unclear about the connections that they are now, sadly, too late aware of between the paris attacks and the brussels attacks. first, let me set the scene here. behind me is the old building. this is the center of brussels considered by many the center of europe and the capital of this continent and this is mid-day. it's 40 minutes after 12:00 and lunchtime here and a lot of

folks have come down and crowded this area where makeshift memorials have been set up to remember those who were killed and those who were injured in the attacks. the twin attacks on tuesday. there's also, i think it's fair to say a growing fear here in the capital of belgium there might be more attacks because the police while they're looking for the mysterious man and wife seen in that three-person surveillance shot the guy on the right of the frame who police have not identified and said they're looking for there is also reports that the police are looking for a fourth person, a fifth person. they are clearly not sure how many people actually took part in the attacks and how many people might be still be lefttop over who supported the attacks and might be interested in mounting new attacks during belgium or anywhere else in europe. sam and laura, a lot of question marks and a lot of mixed feelings by belgiums. are the police to be praised because they did what they could

rnlsh while the city of denver, if you have friends in the area, you saw they were probably posting of what things looked like before and after this latest storm. several feet of snow piling high in the mile high city. blizzard conditions, winds up to 50 miles an hour brought that city to a standstill yesterday. some areas of denver saw 18 inches of snow. that storm system now moving over the midwest and the northeast bringing snow and rain to both of those regions of the country. >> closed dia, the airport there for some time. and it's such a central hub. >> we talk about a snowmeggedn on the east coast. welcome, denver. >> if you're trying to wake up right now at 4:45 in the morning. >> much different story here in the bay area this morbining. it is a clear start.

>> just to think before that blizzard they had 70 degree temperatures and sunshine and 24 hours the blizzard came. i'm glad we don't have that kind of extreme weather. but we do have cool temperatures as you head out the door. 48 in the peninsula and the south bay. and we are taking a closer look at the east bay now where in hayward we have 46 degrees there. 43 in dublin and brentwood now at 46 degrees and also 46 now in the north bay. and the seven-day forecast comes up at the bottom of the screen and you'll be able to see how our nice stretch of weather continues into the weekend and then we'll bring those temperatures down a few degrees early next week. we start out in palo alto at 8:00 at 51 degrees and then lower 60s at 11:00. 2:00, 3:00 this afternoon, it will feel so comfortable reaching the low 70s there. we also have low 70s else where in palo alto and in cupertino and the financial district today up to 68 degrees.

72 in napa and oakland 73 degrees and san ramon today 71 degrees. our storm pattern so well to the north of us and we are going to continue on with high pressure that controls our weather. bringing us some northerly winds and allowing high temperatures to reach into the 60s and 70s and then we're in for some changes as we go to early next week. cool air dropping in. as of now it doesn't look like it will bring us any rain, but may bring in light snow showers for the sierra as we continue on with dry weather into the start of next week. looking at easter weekend, highs in the mid-70s in the north bay on saturday. on sunday, we'll bring it down to about 70 degrees. we will have a few more clouds in the mix, but a lot of sunshine. for the most part over this weekend. looking at a very nice easter weekend. what's happening on the san mateo bridge, mike? >> we take a live look out there and traffic flows very nicely. a beautiful drive across 92 and

markets are closed tomorrow for good friday. the dow falling 79 points to 17502. the nasdaq losing 52 to 4768. meanwhile, a new report finds home prices are raising fasfa faster than wages making it hard to buy a home. realty track says home prices and 9% of the u.s. housing market is now less affordable than historic lows. that means buyers need to spend more on their incomes and more of their incomes on housing leaving less for other purchases. apple will make apple pay compatible with safari web browser later this year. that will allow to make purchases from mobile websites and it will be available to shoppers and have technology on their iphone or ipad and the features should be ready before the start of the holiday shopping season. sam and laura, back over to you. >> just in time to not find out how much money you're draining.

>> that's right. 4:49. now to an investigative unit exclusive. new questions this morning about who's on the payroll for a job that could mean the difference between life and death. >> senior investigative reporter vicky nguyen joining us into the investigation of security guards hired by the city of palo alto. vicky? >> part of track watch to help keep at-risk teens off the train track. three guards arrested working for the city palo alto the new guard would be more professional and alert. we set up surveillance and night after night it documented guards away from their posts for hours and even one guard asleep in his car for more than an hour. we also obtained records showing another arrest. siper security guard luke sour. he pleaded not guilty to lewd behavior after police allegedly found him slumped in his car with half a bottle of wine and his pants unzipped. the owner of the security says

these two toddlers here seen safe this morning but their mother is in jail. a bizarre missing child story out of san francisco. the mother's story just didn't add up. the 26-year-old reported her children missing tuesday night. she claims she dropped her kids off with a friend and then they disappeared. after an investigation police booked jones on possession of drugs, which her two girls were

found at st. francis hospital yesterday afternoon where police say the mother's friend dropped them off. a san francisco police officer once investigated for an alleged sexual assault is now accused of several other crimes. >> jason was charged with illegally possessing information and misusing dmv records. he is now on paid administrative leave. he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman that he took out on a date. but police couldn't find any evidence there to charge him. at 4:55. a quick-thinking mountainview police officer saved a young boy's life. here's officer curtis low and 2-year-old eduardo with his father. last monday eduardo started choking and stopped breathing. his parents called for help and the second he saw the boy his instincts just kicked in. >> i turned the baby over and laid him on the ground and gave
