are doing, waiting for friday for a break-in in a crime wave that has everyone on edge. cheryl, sounds like neighbors are taking matters into their own hands. >> reporter: that's right. in dublin, police say they're doing their part after months of allegations, they've made five arrests, three of them juvenile. good news for the people who live there. but they're telling me, after dozens of break-ins, that's not enough. >> it's really disturbing to hear that my neighbor directly across the street from me had a break-in while they were home. >> reporter: steve phillips and his wife, jeanette, moved into their dream home a month and a half ago looking for a safe community. now that community is being targeted by thieves. >> we're locking up the house, extra vigilant looking at what's going on in the neighborhood. >> part of a newly formed neighborhood watch in the district with upscale homes where thieves think they can find lots of money, jewelry and

five companies who built the apartment complex did inferior work that led to this accident. the california state contractors licensing bored discovered the balcony was not built to trade standards, causing water to seep in and rot the wooden beams. a hearing will be held to determine if the construction companies should have their licenses revoked. it killed students last year. wells fargo will pay $1.2 billion to end a lawsuit over its mortgage practices. it requires san francisco based company to admit it deceived the u.s. government into ensuring thousands of risky mortgages. a seven-year span that ended in 2008. many families who used those loans lost their homes to foreclosure. a settlement allows the company to finally put the legal process

behind it. it's over before it's over. republican candidate ted cruz dominated in colorado today, ahead of tomorrow's state convention. he already locked in 21 of the 34 delegates up for grabs. senator cruz will address the assembly tomorrow there in colorado. front-runner donald trump canceled his appearance, effectively conceding the state. trump is focusing his attention in his home state of new york, as is john kasich. he was in syracuse, new york, tonight where his rally changed places twice because of the growing number of attendees. their primary is in 11 days. when asked whether hillary clinton thought bernie sanders was qualified she answered yes and added she would take him over any of the republican candidates. senator sanders did the same while speaking on the "today" show this morning. both campaigns came under fire after both candidates accused

each other of not being qualified to be president. now it a developing international story, the truth or simply more lies? north korea has claiming it has successfully tested the engine of a rocket that could launch nuclear strikes against the u.s. this is what its government-run television station has been reporting, trying to show the world that its claims are not a bluff. nuclear test in january, followed by a rocket launch in february. south korea has doubts that its neighbors' claims are true. one of the five men captured and investigators do believe he is one of the last-known suspects from the terrorist massacres. whether he is the man in this video, wearing the hat and white jacket. belgian police have been trying to find from the airport bombing. simply atrocious, police are calling it.

running over a motorcycle officer, oscar scott from reno faces several charges, attempted murder and drug use. officers arrested him yesterday along interstate 80 in fairfield, 20 minutes after he ran over officer michael erickson. >> yesterday, officer michael erickson was the victim of a deliberate attempt to murder a police officer. this was not an accident. rather officer erickson was a victim of assault by motor vehicle. >> immediate help of fellow officers and good samaritans on i-80 for saving erickson's life. he is in critical but stable condition tonight. did the sfpd use excessive force? this video is raising more questions about the deadly encounter that took place between police and a homeless man. sfpd maintains its officers were in danger. nbc bay area has an update on

their investigation. >> reporter: a makeshift memorial sits near a homeless encampment on 18th and shotwell. homeless man who lives there was shot and killed yesterday by two san francisco police officers. new surveillance video obtained by the san francisco chronicle shows officers approaching 45-year-old. we can't see if gongora lunges at the officers. shortly after police show up, we hear gun shots and the man dies at the hospital a short time later. >> conflicting accounts of the situation circulating on broadcast news stations and social media. >> today, sfpd showed a picture of the knife they say the man was holding. they gave us four accounts from eyewitnesses, three of them saying the homeless man lunged at officers after they deployed

bean bag rounds. >> when he fell down to the ground, that's when the knife fell out. >> reporter: but this man, who lives in the encampment, and whose eyewitness account was mentioned by sfpd today, says the shooting was unprovoked, saying his friend only speak spanish and may have had difficulty understanding the officers' orders. >> we saw the knife after he fell and hit the ground. that's when the knife fell out from underneath his shirt. a suspicious death on a muni bus is under investigation tonight. san francisco police say a 75-year-old man and 53-year-old woman got into a fight over the bus seat. the fight turned physical. this happened thursday afternoon when police arrived, it found that the man already left the bus. he was found aboard a different bus. police are not sure if he died from a heart attack or injuries from the earlier fight.

throws her face first to the ground. on the video you can hear the impact. >> the d.a. waited months to file charges against the teen. they didn't file until the day after she filed a federal lawsuit against the county. >> it's retaliatory, vindictive and we'll get to the bottom of it. >> i'm jody hernandez, nbc bay area news. the list is growing. police say there are more victims molested by that dental assistant in concord, a total of three girls under the age of 10 have now come forward. investigators believe they found video evidence of the molestations. the case began saturday when an 8-year-old told police that alejandro rosario molested her. in a raid, detectives found videos allegedly showing the 24-year-old molesting many young patients while they were sedated for dental procedures. investigators believe tonight there could be more than 50

victims. >> that's not including the potential that there may be victims at some of the other places, where he worked. or even the cases where maybe he committed these acts where they weren't videotaped. >> he also worked at concord patino orthodontics western dental and antioch's western dental. he will be arraigned next wednesday. beating case by sheriff's deputies may have muddied the legal waters for himself, according to our legal analysts. new indictment against petrov today. he was beaten in san francisco in this alley way by alameda county sheriff's deputies. after they raided petrov's home with san francisco police on a warrant from a cyber crime. there, investigators found drugs and guns in his home. they also reveal petrov's long criminal rap sheet, including being charged with 43 felonies.

this could alter his civil claims. >> mr. petrov has made a complete mess out of his civil rights case. he no longer will be able to testify on his own behalf in his own case because he will be cross examined on the information contained in this complaint. >> feds plan to prosecute petrov on possession of firearms and drug trafficking. unanswered questions in a shooting near san jose state university. the victim was among several customers gathered outside a taco truck last night. the owner heard the shots from inside his truck and found a young man critically wounded when he came outside after the shooting. since he saw no suspects, the owner told nbc bay area the shooting may have been a drive by. the man is in critical condition. contra costa sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out if a driver was car jacked and kidnapped.

a missing toyota prius that had an uber sticker on the windshield. the driver may have been kidnapped earlier today. police are not saying whether the driver worked for uber. the company is said to be working with the investigators. xwra prius does not have a license plate and drivers side door is damaged. call for action. safety advocates are asking the federal government to put the brakes on the approval of the self-driving cars. a public meeting was hosted in washington today to discuss this new technology. they would like to develop federal guidelines for the vehicles in the next six months. consumer watchdog group said it should take slower and more deliberate approach. they say they simply can't wait. >> it's not coming. it's here. there are safety technologies that will brake it when it nodes to, prevent you from going to the wrong lane when somebody is
