meteorologist kari hall tracking the radar for us. more wet weather coming our way later in the week. >> we'll have to wait until thursday for the rain. i know you're saturdd about tha. dry weather today and tomorrow and most of the day tomorrow. looking at, we are going to see our temperatures in the mid-50s as you head out the door into the mid-60s this afternoon. so, about average for the beginning of april. those april showers returning back as we go into thursday. i'll detail that and we'll also look ahead to warmer weather br t for the weekend coming up. mike inouye under all that weather. no major crashes or lane closures so far. moving a little north and east as you see the maps there. we see speeds near the limit and east shore freeway through richmond and into berkeley, as well. a minor wait for drivers paying cash getting into san francisco. be patient. the good news new metering

lights just yet. b.a.r.t. reporting normal service so far. breaking news oerb night and a deadly hit and run crash in san bruno. right now some of the lanes are still shut down on skyline boulevard near berkshire drive. >> stephanie chuang with the very latest details for us. good morning. >> we're along skyline boulevard here and on the other side it is closed still. all the way about three-quarters of a mile down to the other side, which is berkshire and college drive. this is just east of sky lane college and there in the distance you see where the investigation is happening. a couple light stands there. and some traffic investigators. those who specialize in it. right now trying to figure out what happened and how it hand. closer to the scene, video that was shot earlier shows firefighters and police responding. a grim picture with officers holding a sheet over a tarp-covered body as investigators work around it. this is on the southbound lanes of skyland boulevard. this fatal hit and run happening

some time after 1:30 this morning and the officer os marking nearby things as evidence, including what appears to be at least one car or vehicle parked next to that body. we also saw earlier this morning people who appear to be family show up to this scene and talk with police officers. i understand police have paged or contacted the san mateo county coroner's office. it is unclear if the coroner is already out here. so, a lot of details still missing and they're work og on the investigation right now. it is also unclear as you can see the flashing lights behind me just how long this stretch of skyline will be closed and we'll keep you updated. here in san bruno, stephanie chuang "today in the bay." more fallout at uc berkeley this morning. two more students about to release reports. reveal an incident involving a professor in the south and southeast asian studies department. the students claim the university failed to discipline that teacher.

today's news conference comes just a week after the university's assistant basketball coach yann hufnagel resigned. an east bay family is outraged. one of the men convicted in the death of their son is out of prison after just six years. former governor arnold schwarzenegger commuted his sentence. esteban nunez was released yesterday. he was supposed to serve a 16-yee16 16-year sentence for killing back in 2008. nuney's father is the former speaker of the state assembly and a friend of arnold schwarzenegger. the parents from lafayette say justice was not served. >> it is not what crime you commit, it is who do you know? what access do you have to people hinein high places. >> they sued to overturn the sentence but lost. 5:04. new details on a shooting in the campus of san jose state university from last week.

that case is now being investigated as a homicide. police say the man shot thursday night has died in a hospital. witnesses report gunfire breaking out as several people were eating at a taco truck on east william and south tenth street in san jose. when officers arrived they found one man suffering from a gunshot wound. a deadly weekend in oakland, three people killed in three separate shootings. all the shootings happening within 24 hours of each other. first on saturday morning, the other two on sunday. police have not identified any of the victims and have said not is if the shootings are related. hundreds of pg& ecustomers lost their power in pleasanton after their car crash under to a utility poll. traffic ended up getting closed in both directions because of the downed power lines. when we last checked, crews were still working on trying to restore power to that neighborhood. close call at oakland international airport. take a look at this small plane

john kasich, though, instead of spending a lot of his time and resources there. cruz is leaving new york. everybody else is there. he's already focusing on the next big state, which, of course, is yours. california. meantime, donald trump is arguing that some states like colorado aren't playing fair. he didn't like the big hall that ted cruz got last week and into the weekend every single delegate going for cruz in colorado. so, we've got kasich and trump today in new york and also the democrats, they are now really starting to focus in on who has more new york roots. bernie sanders has a new ad rolling out about that today. eating a hot dog touting his brooklyn born and raised roots there. but it will take more than that. people are looking at issues and one of the issues that comes up today, gun control. and gun violence. hillary clinton's got an event in long island, on long island where she is expected to really go after sanders and, keep in

thursday the probe went dark and nasa scientists are trying to figure out what to do. sam and laura, i don't know if you have a favorite especially probe, but kepler is mine. the guy behind it invented the technology in his head years ago and couldn't get anybody at nasa to listen to him and he swore it would work and finally he was like, fine, we'll build it. it has worked spectacularly. >> until it has gone dark. >> it nailed hundreds, even closer to 1,000. >> i think i could. >> when you say the little space probe that could. what is your favorite space probe? >> that's her's, too. >> get emotional. >> there's a children's book in there somewhere. come on, guys. 5:18 right now. thanks, scott. dust storms. take a look at this. you see how bad they could be? they triggered two multi-car crashes. this happened in northeast arkansas. zero visibility conditions led to one crash in portia involving 12 cars. about 100 miles northeast of

little rock. all of the injuries were said to be minor in that crash. but arkansas state police say someone died in another pileup involving five cars. i know we've seen some problems with that. we'll get to our morning commute coming up in just a bit. >> yes, we will. we have a special narrator for that. but, mike is out today. that is the hint. first, let's get right to the regular kari hall checking our weather this morning. >> good morning sam and laura. a lot of clouds lingering after such a soggy weekend. here's a look now at san francisco. we do see those clouds still staying with us. checking out the rain we had from over the weekend in some spots getting close to the average amount we should get towards the entire month of april and looking at some of the totals now, about 0.5 in san rafael and more in napa and little bit over 0.5 in san francisco. concord had over 1.25 in oakland.

over.75. check out livermore. an 1.25 is where we had higher amounts of rain, as well as morgan hill and fremont over an inch there and we should be topping out at about an inch in livermore and san jose. we got that and more in some spots. so t was good to see the rain coming down, especially before several weeks of some fairly dry weather. now, we are seeing the clouds that is in the mid-50s and no big spread in those temperatures as of yet. 53 degrees in santa theresa and 52 degrees in silver creek valley and willow glen at 53 degrees. as we go hour by hour, we're going to break it down for san francisco. a lot of clouds to start out. sun peeks out for a little while and then hides behind the clouds again by 11:00. then we get sunshine with highs reaching into the lower 60s with the breezy onshore flow. and that flow also keeps our temperatures right at about average for not only today, but the next couple of days reaching the upper 60s to near 70 degrees in fairfield today.

the death toll keeps rising after a horrific fire at a hindu temple in india. 108 people confirmed dead and hundreds more injured and fire broke out yesterday. sparks ignite fireworks that were stored inside of the temple. most pple died when the building ultimately collapsed. members of the temple are being questioned now by the local police. it is 5:24 right now. a new study finds undocumented

immigrant children in four states are not getting access to education. the georgetown university law center finds rules and red tape are creating extended delays for undocumented children in texas, new york and florida and south carolina. some children are just staying out of children entirely. requires all children to attend school through the eighth grade whether they're legal residents or not. one thing most people never associated with schools, medical marijuana in schools. that's what lawmakers in colorado are set to discuss later today. state law allow students to use edible marijuana at public schools as as the school district agrees to do it. so far none have given approval. now, patient advocates are pushing a bill to require school nurses or parents to administer medical pot. a state house committee is voting today whether to advance that bill. 5:25. state lawmakers allegedly double dipping. 17 california leaders are reported collecting government pension checks on top of their

monthly salaries. that includes several lawmakers here in the bay area. it's not illegal to collect a pension and a state salary at the same time, buttocks say the costly pension perk is an example of what is wrong with public retirement benefits. south bay congressman mike honda has reportedly set up a fund to pay the bills tied to an ethics probe. right now congressman honda under investigation to determine if he violated house rules by using taxpayer money to pay off his staff for campaign work. a congressional ethics probe is looking into whether staffers doubled as volunteers during honda's re-election. the mercury news reports that honda set up the fund after taking more than $200,000 out of his campaign war chest last year. 5:26 right now. coming up, pleading for help. the family of this missing middle girl speaking out as the search for her continues. new information unravels about the killing of her mother. and i'm stephanie chuafg live in san bruno where police

where you see lights just east of skyline college. now, the deadly hit and run happened after 1:30 this morning. video earlier shows san bruno police to specialize in traffic collisions work on the southbound lanes and a grim picture with officers holding a sheet over a body marking nearby things as evidence. including what appears to be at least one vehicle part near the body. we also saw people who appear to be family members arrive and speak with those police officers. now, with the help of chp, the traffic investigation specialized has been happening all morning long. police have contacted the san mateo county coroner's office. unclear, though, if the coroner is out here. right now, it appears there is some confusion. the road here is still shut down and a driver just went by. it is unclear just how long skyline will be shut down. you may want to check alternate routes. we're getting an update, we

understand, from police and we'll bring it to you in the next live. live here in san bruno, steph chuang. a search for a missing 2-year-old still continues. that little girl's mother was found dead on friday. they were declared missing on april 1st. nicole's body was found last week in mclaren's park in san francisco and arianna is still missing. >> i want to believe she's okay. i want to believe with whoever she is with nothing has happened to her and no one has hurt her. just, you know, that i want to believe and hope fat she's okay. >> well, investigators have since expanded their search for the little girl to fresno and to southern california. 5:33. happening today, more sexual harassment claims coming to light at uc berkeley. today, two students are expected to announce new complaints against a professor. is live at the campus this morning with what we're learning about these very latest claims. good morning, chuck. >> good morning. the series of investigations of sexual harassment at cal is about to reach the state department of fair employment and housing. two students executive assist tonight the former law school dean have planned a news conference this morning to announce the filing of a complaint against the professor of south and southeast asian studies. the guardian newspaper reports it will be filed against blake wentworth after allegations of sexual harassment and a university investigation concludesed that he made unwanted sexual advances and six months later he remains on the job and faces no disciplinary measures. this comes after the assistant basketball coach yann hufnagel and along with the dean of the school recently. released records that shows that 17 reports of sexual harassment against 19 employees since 2011.

seven complaints by students and six by co-workers. professor wentworth calls the allegations against him baseless and unjust. >> chuck, thank you very much. at 5:35 on your monday. acceptance week begins today at wind mere middle school in san ramon. this made some parents very upset. they say those lesson os go against their religious beliefs. well, after they lodged their complaints, some changes were made and students are now allowed to opt out. a student leadership group created that curriculum and men students do support it. helping tenants will take center stage in san mateo today. the city council holding a special meeting to consider an emergency ordinance that calls to pay for relocation expenses. tonight's meeting is at 6:00 at san mateo city hall. no meeting of the minds

gfx ==sam/ots== new york primary is next tuesday and candidates are well, the new york primary is next tuesday and candidates are turning up the heat on each other. polls showing that ted cruz trails far behind both donald trump and john kasich, but ted cruz did just sweep all of colorado's delegates over the weekend. so, he's got a bit of momentum. delegates were handed to cruz after the state's republican party convention. trump called that unfair. at least that's what he's worried about happening saying that people of colorado were denied a true vote. meantime, sanders is now questioning hillary clinton's judgment. >> she may have the experience to be president of the united states. no one can argue that, but in terms of a judgment something is clearly lacking. >> there's no other in america that gets that kind of free pass. >> so, that was ms. clinton. what she was referring to specifically is bernie sanders voting against holding gun

mid-60s today. notice no raindrops there after a soggy weekend. probably some great news and also great that we'll have more rain by the middle of the week. seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. you'll see how our temperatures hold steady and we'll get that rain on thursday. 67 degrees will be the high today in los gatos and 62 degrees on the embarcadero and pittsburg 68 degrees and also 68 innanton. and we're getting ready for those showers that move in with this weak area of low pressure by wednesday we'll start to see that rain moving into the north bay. the rest of the bay area seeing it before that morning commute. and then it clears out with some breezy winds throughout thursday afternoon. those winds kicking up will possibly be up to about 25 to 30 miles an hour. as far as rainfall, we're looking at the possibility of about 0.1 not heavy amounts of rain. maybe a little bit higher closer 0.25 for parts of the north bay.

really really sad story in the sports world this morning. the nfl and its fans mourning the tragic loss of will smith. he was shot and killed in new orleans after a traffic accident turn under to an argument. it happened on saturday. smith's mercedes was struck from behind by a hummer. smith and hayes exchanged words and then investigators say hayes pulled out a gun and began to shoot. obviously, a motion and reaction coming in from the saints players from the new orleans community from the sports world. smith's wife was also in the car at the time. she was wounded, as well. but is expected to survive.
