today and the highs reaching 69 degrees in san jose. 68 degrees in palo alto and fairfield 72. while oakland is at 66 and pleasanton a high of 6 8 degree. we'll talk about rain in my near future and let's get a look at the commute this morning. right now it looks like the speed sensors are show a smooth drive around most of the bay. the bay bridge toll plaza looks great with just a few cars waiting in the cash lanes. we're tracking one crash that's in horenda and that's to westbound highway 24. that is blocked. but the freeway itself is clear. we'll have another look at weather and traffic coming up in just a few minutes. >> thanks so much, kari. at 5:01. disturbing allegations against a personal trainer in morgan hill. police say he sexually assaulted several women and underage girls and there could be more victims. redell joining us live from morgan hill with what we know about the latest. he was a sports coach. >> yes. we have heard from three of the adult women who claim that the owner of the wolf pak gym behind me here in morgan hill was secretive and controlling while police allege he was sexually assaulting some of his clients. his name is david wolfsmith. he has been arrested. now faces ten charges of sexual assault assault. after investigating him for two months, police arrested him here yesterday afternoon outside his gym. police tell us that two girls and three adult women have come forward as victims. we spoke to the adults who did not want to be identified. they describe a cult-like atmosphere inside wolsmith's gym. >> you need to do as i say. i know what's best for you.

you think you know what's best for you, but i know what's best for you. >> it's all about control and manipulm manipulation but i feel very glad that i somehow was able to spot it. >> according to police, the victims claim the assaults happened between 2013, 2015 and 2009. david wolfsmith was the cross country coach here in morgan hill. police tell us that they are investigating his time there. reporting live here in morgan hill, bob redell "today in the bay." roads are back open in mountain view. east evelyn avenue were closed for much of the night as firefighters battle to control a large building fire. the single story structure housed several businesses some of them, in fact, were damaged. no one was hurt in that fire and no word on the cause just yet. ch chuang is live at the scene. we'll check in with her in just moments. final recommendations on how to improve the santa clara county jail. that blue ribbon commission is set to present its findings at the board of supervisors meeting later this morning. the commission was formed following the beating death of michael tyree last august. 25 members have spent months investigating jail operations. in the meantime, more security concerns about another santa clara county jail. the elmwood jail in milpitas. obtained leaked memos written in late 2014. they warn the camera system at elmwood is outdated. we called the sheriff's office about that memo and three hours later a deputy and two other men walked the perimeter of elmwood. they were looking at the surveillance system and assessing where the new one should go. that assessment was already scheduled and had nothing to do with our investigation. >> as we know, bureaucracy is slow. unfortunately. it's going through the right

channels and we're trying to go through the right channels and appropriate channels. >> the new surveillance system should be in place in the next three months. san francisco police are trying to hunt down these two suspects accused in the deadly attack on a tourist. happened in february in san francisco's cathedral hill. a surveillance camera captured the robbery and stabbing. the suspect stole the british victim's bag along with cash and a cell phone after stabbing him. 5:05 right now. and to the search for the missing 2-year-old san francisco girl. sources tell us they are concerned about arianna fitts safety because of the condition in which her mother's body was found. that little girl's mother was found on friday. the search for arianna has been extended statewide. the santa clara woman who confessed to drowning her 12-year-old adopted son in the bathtub. she first told police she found

her son floating in the bathtub and the woman then changed her story during interrogation. she has been charged with murder. she pled not guilty. the trial date expected to be set for the castro valley woman accused of a hate crime against two muslim men. denise slater shouted insults back in december. the men also claim that slater threw coffee at them. slater has since pled not guilty and in an interview with nbc bay area, she said she believes that islam is evil. it is 5:06. a violent past may lead to a name change. changing the name of a road. the road runs by the old railroad grade trail in fairfax. last october authorities say three transients from portland shot and killed a yoga teacher walking his dog. the suspects have not yet been tried. supervisors will consider renaming to sunrise fire road. north bay transit leaders finally going to be able to

chart a new path, at least when it comes to the area along a smart commuter line. the sonoma marin rail transit agency or just smart will run a new line of trains between those two counties. the press democrat reports that the agency has finally secured funding for a bike and a pedestrian path along 36 miles of tracks. costs for that pathway is estimated at something around $40 million. they say we pay when it comes to the forecast around here because it's usually pretty nice. >> right. which explains why we're all looking at very empty bank accounts right now. >> tax time, too, right? >> this weather is worth a million bucks. we will have great weather again today. but we do start out with some clouds. nice and cool temperatures as you head out. it's 50 degrees in the peninsula. 49 degrees in the north bay. and 57 degrees in the south bay. look at those highs this afternoon. up to 68 degrees in the peninsula and the south bay. 70 degrees in the north bay and san francisco up to 65 degrees.

during the evenings at about 64 degrees at first pitch. fifth inning a few clouds rolling in. cool and breezy. winds in from the west at 5 to 15 miles an hour. seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. you'll see our it emptures will pretty much be like today for at least the next couple of days. palo alto 68 degrees and outer sunset 61 degrees and 71 in napa today. fremont 67. as well as 67 today in livermore. we're getting ready for some rain. we had such a soggy weekend. we take a break for a couple of days and see the showers returning with this area of low pressure rolling just to the north of us. the rain will be heaviest in the north bay late wednesday night into early thursday morning and then as it moves to the south, it does weaken. we will have scattered showers through at least the first part of the day on thursday and then behind that our winds turn breezy as we get some temperatures that will still stay fairly and then warm up this weekend. as far as how much rain we'll see with that system not a lot. some very light amounts for the south bay.

meantime, in san francisco we are ahead of california and the country. it is the first city to require businesses to provide fully paid leave for new parents. today supervisors are going to make that new ordinance official. the measure requires employers with o0 workers to and mayor ed lee said he will sign that new measure into law. some are calling i the strongest link yet. a new study finding that more than 40% of former nfl players suffer from brain damage in some form. leading scientists studied about three dozen former players and the mri scans show 43% have damage to white matter. that is the same number of players scored low on memory and also on attention tests. 5:24 right now. sobering update on the zika virus this morning. the nation's top health officials warn it is a lot more dangerous than first thought. also a scientist shot dead

it's dangerous than first thought and spreading faster. tracy is live in washington, d.c., with the details for us. u.s. officials say they don't have the resources to fight it. >> yeah, they don't have enough money. they asked congress for nearly $2 billion. no decision on that. congress is asking the administration to use money left over from ebola for now. but they are fearing that's just not going to be enough. there is new information from the cdc and nih that this could end up infecting 80% of the population that most people are just going to get sick for a few days and, as you know, it's a big threat to pregnant women. mosquitos that carry the virus have now spread to 30 states instead of the 12 that the cdc first thought. they have specific concerns about women along the gulf coast. particularly those pregnant or of child bearing age. a lot of people who don't have

the fire sparked off of pioneer way at about 8:00 last night. stephanie chuang joining us with a closer look with the damage left behind. still watching out for hot spots, steph. >> they are, sam and laura. fire engine still here from mountain view. for at least a couple more hours to make sure there are no more hot spots. one firefighter just went around with a flashlight to make sure that there was none of that. now, this is a building, single story that houses several businesses. don't know how many were damaged because it was all inside. but this one houses a product design and development company. 219 design that helps design for companies like samsung and nasa. the 911 calls rolled in around last night. firefighters arrived in four minutes and crews discovered heavy, thick smoke billowing out from the single story structure. palo alto firefighters responded to that call and it took about another hour, hour and a half. 9:45 for firefighters to determine they controlled most

of this fire, but still unclear what started it as people were working here at the time. we still know some of the businesses here including photo sharing website 219 design and los gatos research. thankfully no injuries reported. i want to say this is east evelyn avenue right by 85. so, there was some road closures last night, but it was all back open before midnight. at this point, they're waiting for an arson investigator to get out here when it's more light out. that is standard protocol. live here in mountain view, stephanie chuang. "today in the bay." some veryturbing accusations in morgan hill. a personal trainer is being charged with sexually assaulted women and underaged girls and police say there could be more victims. david wolfsmith facing ten sexual assault related charges, including molestation of a child. police say at least three adults and two minors have come forward claiming to be victims. >> we've spoke exclusively with two women who are now pressing

charges. >> it clicked in my head and i knew, i cannot look the other way. for any reason ever again. >> he was able to manipulate a lot of the situations for sexual gratitude or benefit for him. >> the allege victims say wolfsmith ran a cult-like culture and even discouraged the people heed from speaking to each other. police say wolfsmith a cross country coach at the high school in morgan hill back in 2009 investigators are now looking into his time there. happening today, a preliminary hearing scheduled for the undocumented immigrant accused of shooting and killing a woman last year on san francisco's pier 14. >> francisco lopez is being held in connection of the shooting death of kate steinle. san francisco authorities refused to inform about his release from jail. federal agents were hoping to deport him. in the meantime torres is

expected to appear in a san jose courtroom. he is accused in the death of sierra lemar. whose body was never found. a san jose man is pected to plead guilty of killing his girlfriend three years ago. authority say he then fled to mexico where authorities recently arrested him. mexican authorities returned him to the u.s. last week. now to a story that you'll only see on nbc bay area. a random shooting or was he targeted. questions this morning after a data scientist who worked on the peninsula was shot dead in oakland over the weekend. he was found lying on the sidewalk a half a block away from his home right near kaiser. brian bull was partying with his friends at a local bar on saturday night. police say that he was walking home when he was shot and killed. a woman who does not want to be identified says she heard those thoughts. >> ran out to try to help him

and saw that he had already passed. there was a gunshot wound in his head. assumed immediately that it was some sort of robbery gone bad, but i since learned that he still had his wallet on him. >> as the investigation continues, say that they do not have much to go on at this point. more than a dozen shootings and counting. police are investigating another freeway shooting in the east bay. once again, it's on i-80. this time in richmond. chp tells us shots were fired at a taxi cab sunday night. the driver and two passengers in that cab were not hurt. this is the 17th freeway shooting in contra cost and alameda county since november. investigators believe the cases are all gang related and not just random shootings. thousands of people who rely on b.a.r.t. who have been impacted by strikes in years past. a new deal means no worker strike for years to come. yesterday's b.a.r.t. unions and

managers announcing a contract extension that will last five years. a strike in 2013 basically shut down the transit service. >>t's five years of labor piece. five years of us working together and delivering the service we want. >> the proposed agreement, if approved by a union vote, would give workers a 10% raise over the next four years. it also buy some time for both sides to negotiate the agency's pension agreement, which right now is tied up in court. effective immediately, a central valley high school will allow some of its staff members to carry guns. the school board of fresno county yesterday passed a new policy in responsive shooter. up to five staff memberses at kingsburg high school will be allowed to carry concealed handguns. could be dangerous for students and other teachers. the police chief supports the idea. >> if a staff member wants to put themselves at risk like, i am all for that and i'll support them in any way that i can. >> to qualify, staff members

station in southeastern new this morning a mill car bomb hit a military station injuring others. local media reports with the pkk carried out the bombing. turkey has seen a surge in violence reenlt. charges are being filed in a bizarre case in the east bay. attacking a probation officer and her husband at their home. filed misdemeanor charges against colin fate. he is accused of showing up at the victim's home drunk and assaulting her and her husband. this happened back in december. the victim said she suffered several bruises after that attack. three women who stepped off a deck in burke just seconds before it collapsed are now suing for negligence. it claimed the lives of three college students.

the lawsuit claims the builders ignored warning signs that the wooden balcony was severely water damaged. the federal government will investigate california's $15 billion tunnel project that would bring water from the sacramento delta to southern california. federal investigators are going to look into allegations the state improperly used $60 million meant for fish habitat for the tunnel project. brown's administration wants to build 30 miles of 40-foot wide tunnels to carry water from the sacramento river south to central and southern california. 5:43 right now. one of rock music led zeppelin "stairway to heaven" is on the road to legal trial. >> well, it's been a long time since the song exploded on to the rock scene. led zeppelin released it back in 1971. robert plant and jimmy page stole the opening chords of the song of theirs called tourists.

or sunny. it doesn't matter. we'll all enjoy a big win from the warriors. let's take a look outside right now. looking at some clouds overhead over san jose. and we are going to start out with the clouds through the morning and then it clears out this afternoon. looking at some temperatures in the mid-50s. 51 degrees in palo alto and santa rosa and concord 54 degrees. let's break it down for oakland as we start with some clouds this morning. we will see them through at least 11:00. won't be until lunchtime when we see the sun peeking out. it will be 62 degrees and then rising into the mid-60s later on today with a nice, breezy wind. a look at the microclimate today. mid to upper 60s and even low 70s in parts of the inland areas. 71, also, in napa. pittsburgh, as well as danville today. 70 degrees. now, having a couple of days with some very average temperatures, we'll have some rain moving in here by early wednesday or by late thursday

morning. we'll say early thursday morning as this area of low pressure moves in. that starts out in the north bay late wednesday night. and some heavy downpours and then as it moves into the rest of the bay area, quick one and done type deal. and then by the afternoon, we'll have some breezy winds throughout the afternoon. the estimated rain at this point, don't look that heavy. about 0.1. maybe closer to 0.25 to the north. the weekend forecast very nice. on friday into the upper 70s. the east bay will be up into the mid-80s there. 82 dexwree degrees in the tri-v. a high of 77 degrees. and now let's get a look at what's happening on the roadways as we get a look at the morning commute right now. looking at a great drive no problems or delays for the north bay or the south bay. here we're looking at some of the expected slowing in san jose. northbound highway 101.

investigators believe that there are more terror cells throughout europe. here at home, u.s. marshals have captured the suspect wanted for a brutal attack at a house party. he is believed to be this caught on cell phone video after the beating in early february. the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and is still hospitalized. a team of officials found him in san leandro last wednesday. now charged with attempted murder. new claims of sexual harassment at uc berkeley. two grad students announcing they were harassed by an assistant professor. they say he made inappropriate comments and repeatedly touched them. the two have filed complaints with the and they are demanding change at the university. >> it's been long enough. i'm really tired of withholding my education and just i want to go back to school. and i want to feel safe on campus. >> the university concluded last october that wentworth did
