68 degrees. we'll take a look ahead to some more mild temperatures and some rain and then a warm up for the weekend. that's coming up in a few minutes. let's get a look at this morning's commute it's been pleasant so far looking around the bay area. we have the biggest backup at the bay privilege toll plaza and the mcarthur maze and east shore freeway are moving without any problems. pleasanton slowing for southbound 680 and right on schedule. another look at weather and traffic coming up in a few minutes. >> we'll look forward to that. thank you so much, kari. a well-known gym owner and personal trainer in the south bay is now charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and this morning police want to know if there are more possible victims. >> "today in the bay" bob redell at wolf pak fitness. we know of three women and two minors that this man is accused of assaulting. >> correct. good morning to you, sam and

slora. the man in question is the owner of the wolf pak gym located here in downtown morgan hill who, as you can see in this photo, was arrested yesterday afternoon by morgan hill police outside of this gym. his name is david wolfsmith and faces ten charges related to sexual assault including annoying and molesting a child ask sexual battery by fraud. after investigating wolfsmith for two months, police tell us two girls and three adults have come forward as victims, as you mentioned. we spoke to the adult women who did not want to be identified but tell us that wolfsmith would request extra sessions with them at odd times. was controlling, secretive and discouraged members of his gym from talking to each other. >> he didn't want us having coffee with each other. atalking with each other. building friendships amongst each other. he would separate us if he thought you were getting too close to someone. >> he was able to manipulate a

lot of the situations for sexual gratitude or benefit for him. >> now, according to morgan hill police, the victims claim the assaults happened between 2013, 2015. in 2009, david wolfsmith was the cross country coach here in morgan hill. police tell us that they are investigating his time there, as well. reporting live here at morgan hill, bob redell "today in the bay." san francisco police trying to hunt down these two suspects accused on a deadly attack on a tourist. a surveillance camera captured the robbery and stabbing. the suspect stole the british victim's bag along with cell phone and cash after standing him. the santa clara woman who confessed to drowning her 12-year-old adopted son in a bathtub is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing. tara first told police that she found her floating in the bathtub in their home in

january. the woman then changed her story during ingagdz. she has been charged with murder and she's pled not guilty. now to the search for the missing 2-year-old san francisco girl. sources telling us that they are very concerned about arianna fitts' safety because of the condition that they found her mother's body. the search has since expanded for arianna across the state. firefighters still checking for hot spots at this commercial building in mountain view. a fire ripping through the structure last night about 8:30. that building on east evlawn avenue and pioneer way housed several businesses. some of the businesses were very damaged. "today in the bay" steph huang is on the scene and bring us an update coming up in a live report at 6:30. also happening today, we're expecting to hear final recommendations on how to improve the santa clara county jail. the blue ribbon commission is going to present its findings at the board of supervisors meeting later this morning.

that commission was formed after the beating death of inmate michael tyree last august. 25 members have spent months investigating jail operations. meantime, there are more security concerns of another santa clara county jail. the elm wood jail in milpitas. leaked memos written in late 2014. they warn that the camera system at elmwood is outdated. we called the sheriff's office about that memo and three hours later a deputy walked around the perimeter and assessing where the new one should go. the sheriff insists that assessment was already scheduled and had nothing to dawith our investigation. >> as we know bureaucracy is slow and it's going through the right channels and we're trying to go through the appropriate channels. >> the sheriff says the new surveillance system should be in place in three months. the trail date is expect to be set for a castro valley woman accused of a hate crime against two muslim men.

she shouted at the men as they were praying in december. according to police. the men also claimed slater threw coffee at them. slater since pled not guilty. in an interview with nbc bay area, she believes islam is evil. happening today, the fight to save a 99-year-old woman from eviction in san francisco. iris canada has lived in a western edition neighborhood apartment since the 1950s. her supporters are holding a press conference and a rally for her today around noon at 400 mccallister street. a violent past may lead to a name change. today county leaders will discuss changing the name of a road in a north bay hiking area. the road is in fairfax. last october, authorities say three transients from portland shot and killed a yoga teacher walking his dog. the suspects have not yet been tried. supervisors will consider renaming gunshot fire road to sunrise fire road. kind of a sad morning. time to lift things up a little

bit at this point. 6:05. let's get a check of your weather. those temperatures are missing kari. at least for another day or two. >> we will have warming temperatures and then get ready for some rain and looks good as we go around the next several days. a look outside all our microclimates start with patchy fog this morning for san francisco and the north bay. it's now 56 degrees in the south bay with a high up to 68 degrees. we'll be in the low 70s in the north bay, as well as the tri-valley and san francisco today up to 65 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds and breezy winds, as well. we'll talk about that rain coming up in a few minutes. but let's get a look at the commute this morning. it starts to build in a couple of spots. right now in hayward, there is more slowing for southbound 880 approaching highway 92 where the chp is clearing a wooden pallet from the roadway and in san jose north on 101 and now northbound 87 showing more slowing there. we'll have another look at

weather and traffic coming up in just a few minutes. sam and laura. >> thank you much, kari. 6:06 right now. may have been the victim of a vindictive vandal. the woman temporarily lost her dog after witnessing a car vandal at work. when the vandal threatened her, her roommate, they ran. her roommate dropped the leash. police arrested the vandal. when student found her dog hours later it had suffered broken bones, including a femur and hip bone. >> she saw this person committing the crime. she potentially stopped him from breaking more car windows. >> even if he had surgery and back rubs, i would do it. >> the suspect is facing vandalism and aggravated assault charges. a go fund me page has now been set up to try to recover the costs for that dog's surgery. look at those little eyes. >> taking it out on the dog, are you kidding me? coming up next women in combat. another push to open all marine corps jobs to everyone. and the president of the second largest economy in the

at 6:11. new this morning, a car bomb hit a military police station in southeastern turkey overnight killing one person and injuring nearly 50 others. people affiluted with pkk carried out the bombing. turkey has seen a surge in violence recently. it's 6:11 and all marine corps combat jobs to women takes another step forward later today. the naval secretary will address about 300 marine corps leaders at camp pendleton. he is going to lay out the gender integration plan, that's what they're calling it. the marine's top brass has resisted that idea citing studies that it says shows combined gender units are more

effective than male-only units. the defense secretary overruled them last december. today president obama will celebrate equal pay day by focusing on women's progress. he is expected to speak at the designation of a new national monument to honor the movement of women's equality in washington, d.c., today. the monument is at an iconic house that has served as the headquarters for the national women's party since 1929. after one week of signing the nation's first $15 minimum wage bill governor jerry brown for family leave. under current law, the state will pay families up to 55% their standard paycheck for up to six weeks. the law signed yesterday raises that reimbursement rate to 70%. the new family leave act takes effect in 015. for as for san francisco, this city is ahead of california and the rest of the country. san francisco becomes the first city to require businesses to provide fully paid leave for new parents. today supervisors are going to

make that ordinance official. the measure requires employers with at 20 workers to provide the family leave benefits. mayor ed lee says he will sign that new measure into law. 6:13 right now. the 2016 f-150 pickup is the only full-size pickup truck to score in crash test and the insurance institute evaluated using crash tests and the f-150 is the best selling pickup truck in america. >> it really is ford tough. the leader of the second largest economy in the entire western hemisphere may be out of a job soon. >> scott grew after all these trails of corruption and now a huge shakeup in brazil. >> as laura pointed out why we care. brazil has a biggest economy than mexico, canada, bigger than anything in south america. a legislative committee just voted that the president be

impeached. accused of mismanagement and corruption. their system is similar to our is. this will go to their house to impeachment. silicon valley trades quite a bit with brazil and they have an olympics coming up, as well. wall street will be watching that and the quarterly reports that come out soon with all publicly traded companies. it's the start of earning season. wells fargo and san francisco reports thursday and then they start coming one after the other next week. the golden state warriors are owned by a silicon valley venture capitalist. as you know take on the memphis grizies owned by a silicon valley untripner. the team may be from memphis but the own eer lives in the south bay. his fortune has sort of bounced around a bit, but he's been worth billions and it has left him with plenty of money to buy his own basketball team. >> basketball has been my favorite sport growing up. i played it. i've been an nba fanatic.

i had courtside golden state season tickets. so, there is a personal interest. but another thing about it is the nba. i believe the nba is the internaesinte international sport of the future. it is so well tightly ingrained in youth culture and fashion and when i travel the world on business, i've seen basketball courts popping up in china and india and south america. >> a very good investment. robert parra apparently still lives in a two bedroom apartment that he rents. it is close to work, that works for him. you could be a billionaire and not care about mansions. >> he doesn't need the write off. >> as long as he's not living with parents, i think he's still good at this point. amazing to think, if you have all that money, what would you buy with it? >> probably buy a team. i would buy the chicago cubs.

>> investment. >> now you would because they're good. >> thanks a lot, scott. . baseball weather. let's find ut. weather and traffic. they're checking in with kari right now. >> perfect baseball weather today, sam and laura. great way to start out the day. here's a live look at the twinkling lights of the bay bridge. you can see all those cars rolling across. a busy tuesday on the way. and we start out with some clouds now. it's in the mid-50s as you head out the door. it's 56 degrees in oakland and san jose. 52 degrees in palo alto. seven-day forecast coming up at the bottom of the screen and temperatures hold steady and rain in the forecast for thursday and then a warm up for the weekend. we start out with some light winds this morning and some patchy fog in a few spots and winds coming in from the north picking up as we go through the day. 15 to 20 miles an hour from the north and northwest. and we will have at times some gusty winds getting ready for a few more gusts as the next storm system gets ready to roll in by

late tomorrow night. today, once again, great baseball weather for the a's game tonight at coliseum at first pitch it will be 64 degrees. and 61 degrees by the fifth inning. pretty much the same weather we have had for the past few games. winds in from the west at 5 to 15 miles per hour. a look at all the microclimates today. 68 degrees in palo alto the embarcadero up to 64 degrees and 71 in napa and 70 in pittsburg and also 70 today in danville. we're getting ready for those showers that will start to move in to the north bay along with some gusty winds and late tomorrow night into thursday morning. some of that rin wiwill be heav across the north bay. starts to fizzle out as it moves to the south and still lingering showers early thursday and then behind that the winds will be increasing. it will be breezy thursday afternoon ahead of that warm up. as far as the rainfall, not a whole lot. maybe a tenth of an inch for most of us. it could be a little bit higher for parts of the north around

santa rosa. closer to 0.25. and then this weekend, we're looking at sunshine. a warmup in the forecast check out how warm these temperatures go and compare that to last weekend when we struggle to make it up to 60 degrees with that rain. low 80s and even mid-80s for the north bay as we warm up to 84 degrees there in the south bay. 81 degrees in the peninsula and up to 77. so, nice and toasty for saturday and sunday. let's get a look back out there on the roadways now and we are looking at a little bit of some activ in hayward where chp now reports a stall. that may affect the connector from southbound 880 to the san mateo bridge and some slowing for the upper east shore freeway. also into walnut creek at the interchange. so, looking at a few spots slowing there. else where we have some green all across the map. back to you, sam and laura. >> thanks a lot, kari.

public health officials are now saying the zika virus is "scarier than first thought" and its impact on the u.s. could be much more worse than predicted. >> "today in the bay" tracie potts veining us from washington, d.c. they need more money to fight the contagiousness of this virus. >> they're concerned it's spreading. already more than 25 cases confirmed in california. about 8% of the total. and now they think that 30 states instead of the original 12 could be affected by these mosquitos that carry the virus. they're especially concerned about the gulf where a lot of poor families don't have screens to keep the mosquitos. live near standing water and do not have air conditioning and while for most of us who might be affected by the zika virus, it would be just about a week or week and a half of a cold or some other virus. they do think that pregnant women face a specific risk.

microcepha microcephaly, a birth defect that could affect now or later if a woman were to become pregnant. all of this, though, the government says we need to study more. that's where the money that you talked about comes in. they're asking congress for nearly $2 billion. heads of the cdc and nih came to the white house to brief reporters on this yesterday saying that the money leftover from ebola just simply isn't enough. and so they're pressing congress for more money. right now no word when or if get it. >> see if there will be bipartisan agreement to get them the money for research. thank you, tracie potts. 6:26 right now. grabbing a foul ball certainly every kids dream when they go to a baseball game and probably the dream more adults are willing to admit. >> this is upsetting for who never caught foul ball before. that came true not one time five times yesterday for a detroit tigers fan bill dugen. during yesterday's home opener he caught the foul balls on five separate plays. that included one during batting

a good tuesday morning. thank you for joining us. i'm sam bock. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. sun coming up over the bay area. come on, kari, what are we looking forward to today? >> we'll start out with clouds and then afternoon sunshine. beautiful day as our temperatures warm up a look outside now. we are at 55 degrees in san francisco and 48 degrees watching out for the potential of patchy fog in the north bay and in parts of san francisco and then a beautiful afternoon, once again. pleasant weather up to 70 degrees in the north bay, as well as the tri-valley and 68 degrees in the peninsula. as well as the south bay.

we are looking forward to some rain before the weekend. and then a warm up. so, i'll detail all of that coming up in a few minutes. let's get a outside. not a lot of surprises so far this morning on this morning's commute. but we are watching san jose for santa theresa boulevard on the onramp at highway 87. has three or four vehicles reportedly on the shoulder after hitting some debris. and slowing as traffic builds out of hayward across the san mateo bridge. we'll be keeping an eye on that and another look at weather coming up in a few minutes. >> we'll look forward to that. thanks so much, kari. in the south bay, several business owners will spend the morning cleaning up after flames broke out in mountain view. happened on east evelyn avenue. >> word on the extent of the damage to those businesses? >> yeah, good morning, sam and laura. there is still the smell of the

fire. the smoke, i should say, lingering. but usually we show up to the scenes and the exterior is very damaged. here, not so. it's all inside at the building at 67 east evelyn avenue. still one crew of firefighters here for the next half hour or so. they have been using flashlight check for hot spots because multiple businesses inside. what you're looking at is 219 design. which designs and developments products for samsung, square and even nasa. inside a lot of burnt equipments. wires, material exposed and computers and papers. mountain view fire and police first got these calls around 8:15 night. firefighters arrived in four minutes to find heavy, thick smoke billowing out and realized they needed extra help and got it from palo alto firefighters. took another hour and a half for firefighters to control blaze. what remains unclear is whether there were people here working that time. what started this. we do know some other businesses here, including a smug mug a photo sharing website and bio

medical and los gatos research. thankfully, no reported injuries. both directions of east evelyn avenue were reopened by midnight. what is going to happen now, an arson investigator is expected here as more light come. maybe in the next hour or hour to see what exactly happened here. live in mountain view, stephanie chuang "today in the bay." more than a dozen shootings and counting. police are investigating another freeway shooting in the east bay. once again, on i-80. this time in richmond. chp tells us shots were fired at ay cab sunday night near the san pablo dam road. the driver and two passengers in the cab were not hurt. this is the 17th freewaying in contra costa county and it is the 11th on i-80. investigators believe the cases are all gang reed and not random shootings. happening today, several important court cases to tell you about. first, a prelim hearing scheduled for the undocumented immigrant accused of shooting

and killing a woman last year on san francisco pier 14. francisco sanchez lopez is supposed to appear in a san francisco court. he's being held in connection to the shooting death of kate steinle. his case has been a lightning rod because they refused to decline and federal agents had been hoping to deport him. meantime torres also expected to appear in a san jose court courtroom. he is expected in the death of sierra lemer. a san jose man will enter the plea today in the death of his girlfriend three years ago. hul wroeauthorities say he thend to mexico where authorities recently arrested him. mexican authorities returned him to the u.s. last week. effective immediately a central valley high school will allow some staff members to carry guns. passed a new policy in response

to the possibility of an active shooter. up to five staff members at kingsburg high school will be allowed to carry concealed handguns. critics say it could be dangerous for students and other teachers. the police chief supports the idea. >> if a staff member wants to put themselves at risk like that, i'm all for that and i'll support them in any way that i can. >> to qualify, staff members must have a california concealed weapons permit and a positive disciplinary record. 6:35 right now. three women who stepped off a deck in berkeley mere seconds before the deck collapsed are now suing for negligence. the tragedy last june claimed the lives of six college students. the three women who survived filed a lawsuit last month against the complex's owners and contractors. the lawsuit claims they ignored warning signs that the wooden balcony was severely water damaged. the federal government will investigate california's $15 billion tunnel project that will bring water from the sacramento

delta to southern california. federal investigators will look am to allegations the state improperly used $60 million meant for fish habitat for the tunnel project. brown's administration wants to build 30 miles of 40-foot tunnels to carry water from the sacramento river to south and central california. a big relief are the thousands of people who rely on b.a.r.t. every day. a new deal now meaning no worker strike for years to come. yesterday b.a.r.t. unions and managers announcing a contract extension. you remember strikes dating back to 2013 that almost shut down the transit service. >> it's five years of labor piece. it's five years of us working together and delivering the service we want. >> the proposed agreement, if approved by a union vote, would give workers a 10% raise over the next four years. also buy some time for both sides to negotiate the agency's pension agreement. that is currently tied up in court. protecting filipino american

history in san francisco is what many filipinos are calling for today the foundation will call on the board of supervisors to establish a filipino cultural heritage district. it will we located in the city south of market neighborhood. this map shows more than 25 histic buildings, sites and object os that honor filipino culture. the group will hold a press conference today at city hall and supervisors will take on the request at 2:00 today. they say all good things must come to an end. and this will end. but will it end historically? the warriors making one more run at history and it's all going to be resolved one way or another tomorrow night. they're shooting for win number 73 at home as we take a live look outside at oracle arena this morning. taking on the memphis grizzlies in their final game of the season. of course, a lot of people will want to see what happens if you're thinking about getting your hands on a ticket, yeah, it will cost. prices sky high on the resale market right now. nose bleeds on stub hub starting

stabbed a british tourist sab front police hoping that these new sketches are going to help them catch the suspects who stabbed a british tourist to death. >> paolo reyes has more information on the people that police are looking for. good morning. >> kn morning. police are looking for a man and a woman in connection with this s attack that occurred in san francisco. the victim was so badly hurt he later died of his injuries. an adu male that is about $5 5'10" and was heavy build. the bureau attack that happened in mid-february was caught on surveillance camera in san francisco. police released this footage a few weeks ago when the tourist a 34-year-old man died of his injuries and police are asking anybody who might recognize this suspect to call the tip line right away and, of course, that

and a couple of spots. up to 71 degrees in gilroy, as well as napa. pittsburg today 70 degrees and danville also at 70 degrees. and the seven-day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen. you'll that we will have some steady temperatures and then some rain in the forecast for thursday. so, let's talk about that. this area of low pressure will start to approach from the northwest. it spreads in some of the heavier for the north bay and it gets lighter as it approaches the south bay early thursday morning. but that may impact the thursday morning commute and then the winds kick up right behind that system thursday afternoon will be breezy at times those winds gusting to 20 to 30 miles an hour. as far as rain, not a lot. about 0.1 for most of the bay area. could be higher for the far north bay. we could have up to 025 and then we head into some dry weather. warming up, too. think about last weekend. it was in the upper 50s. it was raining off and on all. this weekend coming up, we'll

have sunshine and highs reaching the 70s and 80s. even up to 84 degrees in the north bay with temperatures heating up. that continues into the start of next week. so, definitely feeling like spring. even a little bit of summer in parts of the bay area. let's get a look outside for that morning commute. a look at the roads now. no major crashes, but some sad news to report in the tri-valley. a deer has to be removed from the lanes and that is going to cause some slowing on westbound highway 84 out of livermore. and heading towards 680. that's near the ge plant. and look for the sensors slowing for both san mateo and the dumbarton bridges as the commute heads to the west across the peninsula side. we'll have another look at weather and traffic coming up a little bit later. >> kari, thank you very much. 6:50. we are learning more about an american sailor accused of spying. u.s. officials confirm that lieutenant commander edward lind is being charged with espionage

and communicating secret information. the government is not saying which country lind was sharing information with. but he was born in taiwan and he came to the u.s. at age 14 before becoming a naturalized u.s. citizen. new this morning, two more suspects have been charged in connection with the terrorist bombings in brussels. authorities say the men allegedly were involved in renting a business apartment. it served as a hideout for the bomber who attacked the brussels subway and the suspect seen in the hat and white jacket at the brussels airport was arrested last week. investigators believe there are more terror cells throughout europe. a san francisco exchange student wondering if her dog might have been the victim of a vindictive vandal. the women temporarily lost her dog after witnessing a car vandal at in her neighborhood when the vandal threatened her and her roommate, they ran away. her roommate dropped the leash. police arrested that vandal when the student found her dog hours later it had suffered broken bones that included a femur and a hip bone.
