wet roads across the bay area and some scattered, light showers. mostly san francisco and farther to the south. a look at the radar. we see that, we do see that activity that is farther to the north of us that will stay to the north and what we are seeing here will continue to move out of the bay area within the next couple of hours and then our activity will be tapering off. it is cool. only 46 degrees now in the north bay and in the mid-50s else where. we'll talk more about those showers and let you know if there is any more rain in the forecast coming up and let's head over to mike to get a look at those traffic maps. >> i underestimated the amount of rain here from fremont. so, i got a little drenching coming through the parking lot. listen to kari, folks. the green highlighted all over the bay shows you where the roads are wet. be careful even though traffic is light. we'll take you into san francisco. my concern involved a solo car likely sounds like from the evidence a spinout.

francisco's hall of justs and a sheriff's department spokesperson confirms the person who fired it carries a badge. as chuck coppola shows us, a deputy brought that gun to work and did not know how to use it. that deputy asked another deputy for help and that's when the gun went off. >> reporter: a superior court spokesperson said the gun was fired inside assigned as baylives on the third floor of the criminal division and it happened before court next to the chambers used by presiding judge terry jackson. sources tell nbc bay area that one deputy brought a baby gloc to work but was unfamiliar with how it operated and handed it to a fellow deputy and asked how to use it. the second deputy pointed the weapon at the first deputy unaware it was loaded. he pulled the trigger and the route narrowly missed the deputy lodging in the wall.

a sheriff's spokesperson called it accidental and a very serious matter. adding, we are all very grateful that no one was injured. the superior court spokesperson said the court administrator was nearby and got in right after it happened before many staff arrived. >> that was chuck coppola reporting. as the statewide search for 2-year-old arianna fitts those came together to remember her mother. holding a vigil in the parking lot there. fitts was found dead last friday at mclaren park in san francisco. law enforcement said it identified several people of interest but no direct suspects in that case. the final chapter in a sad tragedy that's what the san francisco attorney said in the asiana crash. the city's board of supervisors is considering a $3.5 million payout. go towards the city's legal costs and damages at sfo.

some pretty light rain. is there an official term for this? >> what is above. is it a sprits, a drizzle. >> yeah, we have some light rain. in some spots it is a little bit heavier. may have been out there when it was barely misting out there. here's a look at the bigger picture as we see. snow coming down in the sierra while we do have the rain here and the rain will be continuing to move to the south and to the east as it clears san francisco, it's mostly in parts of the east bay peninsula and the south bay. once we see this move on out, our winds will be picking up. it will be breezy through the rest of the morning and when most people are getting out there on the roadways, this rain will be out of here. into the afternoon, our winds increase. at time our gusts could top 30 miles an hour. so a breezy afternoon with some clearing skies along with some slightly cooler temperatures. we'll look ahead to the weekend

area call police on their students a lot more than you might think. the reasons they're being called have some parents furious. tonight at 11:00, investigative reporter continuing his series looking at why some parents are accusing one of the largest school districts in the bay area of unfairly criminalizing kids. pay police officers to patrol some of their campuses which is common. but we discovered no written policy detailing when or how the school should involve those officers. while some students are getting criminal records for their bad behavior, the school district says that's not their problem. >> i'm not saying that my son should not have been disciplined. i'm upset that they're taking it to a new level. >> not something you think a student should have been arrested for? >> no. >> tonight at 11:00, we will look at the kind of antics that are getting some kids arrested at school. stuck with a criminal history that could stay on their

here. >> they really go hand in hand because rain coming down a little bit. let's start out with kari. >>any if the rain has moved out, we still have some wet roads all across the bay area and it's because of this system. it's fairly weak and it continues tamove to the south, but it's just enough to have us turning on our windshield wipers and running for cover if you're out early this morning. a look now closer at the east bay. the south bay and parts of the peninsula where it's been very scattered. that will be the case as we go into the next hour or so as this continues to move away. temperature wise, we are in the low 50s, some hid-50s in oakland now and 47 degrees now in santa rosa. looking back at some of the rainfall totals we've had so far in the castro about 0.5 and we were expecting about 0.1 for most of us. into the east bay, up to 0.25 in danville. the rain very hit and miss and scattered throughout the morning. it's just now starting to make

it into the south bay where rainfall total about 0.1 or less and then into the peninsula more of the same. nice little light soaking before we get the weekend started. it will be wet to start out the day and then temperatures reaching into the upper 50s near the coast and low 60s inland and clearing later on today with some sunshine and the rest of the forecast. so, as we take a look at some of the coastal areas, this will be a big concern today. because our swells will be up to 22 feet because of the winds kicking up today. and a period of about 16 seconds. so, into the afternoon as the winds continue to increase up to 0 to 30 miles an hour, waves will be very choppy and very dangerous conditions for the surfers out there and also boaters, as well. a look at the weekend forecast. we'll be in the upper 50s to low 70s tomorrow and all clears out

some sunshine in the forecast and warmg up on saturday and sunday. looking like summer-like temperatures into the mid-80s in the south bay on sunday. t's head over to mike now to see get an update on some of the accidents happening out there. >> we have a couple, kari. watching that crash off the roadway with san francisco 101 at 80 and west 580. not presenting a lot of mrprobl. the bigger issue is the rain. this green highlighting portions of san jose. keep that in mind and i want to zoom in towards a new incident. sounds like the motorcycle brushed that center divider and we are track that and also look at the conditions in san jose. we showed that rain coming through on our sensors and that water kicking up. still very slick. >> mike, thank you. decision 2016. we are inching closer to two very important primaries in new york and finally california. >> bernie sanders and hillary clinton staged dueling rallies
