sunrise is spectacular. >> that doesn't look real. >> it's unreal. that's how beautiful this weather is. you'll notice temperatures are cool this morning. 44 degrees in the north bay. 54 in san francisco. and generally right around 50 degrees across the bay area. it's going to be a spectacular weekend. if you haven't heard, perfect beach weather on tap. nice and warm for inland locations. low 80s for the north bay and south bay today. low 70s atd the beach. we're talking perfect beach weather tomorrow. a few places hit the 80. there's some rain in the seven-day forecast. we have all things to talk about this morning. >> a little bit of everything, thank you. the place to be in the bay area this afternoon is oakland. the warriors begin their run for a second straight nba championship at 12:30 and then the a's will host the royals across the parking lot at the oakland coliseum. if you're going to either game.

plan on getting there early. you might consider taking bart to avoid traffic issues outside the complex. and a warning for anyone buying or selling tickets to warriors games. be wary of third party sellers and be mindful of your own tickets. fans are being scammed by counterfeiters. each ticket to get inside the arena has a bar code, but someone can copy your bar code and get to the game before you. if that happens, you're out of luck. that was the a case for about 60 fans earlier this week. they were turn ed away from wednesday night's soldout game. >> i would not recommend selling your tickets on craigslist. >> during last year's playoff run, 450 fake tickets showed up at playoff games in oakland. nearly all of them were being held by fans who paid a pretty penny. the warriors say they unfortunately have no way to help those who get scammed. our warriors coverage

continues on nbcbayarea.com. for a look at the historic season, click on the warriors top moments tab in the upper left-hand corner. now to a story you'll only see on nbc bay area. police are on the lookout following a disturbing scene in the south bay. a man found tied up inside his home after it had been ransacked by thieves. it happened on north park victoria drive in interstate 680. steve janning tells police he returned home to find that roberts had stolen everything inside the home including guns and surveillance cameras. janning discovered his roommate tied up and abomination of desolationly beaten. >> his hands were tied behind his back to the point they were turning purple and blue. i hope they find them very quickly and give these guys what's coming to them. >> the victim was take on to the hospital. he is expect ed to be okay.

police do believe this was a targeted attack. they have not yet made any arrests. now to a high speed police chase in the east bay ending in a dramatic arrest that started before 8:00 last night when chp tried to stop a driver with no plates. the driver gunned it triggering a chase that spanned several city streets and then crashed into a bart construction site. a spike strip forced him to crash and the chp arrested him after a brief foot chase. now to a developing story in japan where another earthquake hit this morning. this time it was a magnitude 4.6. this comes after a massive 7.3 quake killed at least 15 people yesterday. and roughly 24 hours before that, a another rocked the area. you can see the violent shaking. the tremors caused major damage

derail iing a train and forcing terminal to close. at last count more than 800 people were injured and officials fear the death toll will continue to rise. we spoke with one san francisco woman who teaches english about 90 miles from the earthquake's epicenter. >> my heart jump ed. back here in the bay area. george clooney ain san francisc co-hosting a fundraiser for presidential candidate hillary clinton last night. though it was for clinton, the event also attracted a crowd of bernie sanders supporters. they turned out to protest clinton's event. the cost to get into the fundraiser ranged from $33,000 to more than $350,000.

many protesters argued the private party was not a good fit for the city. >> she's not here to talk about the issues that we're dealing with in san francisco. she's here to ask wealthy donors for money. >> hillary clinton and the clooneys will hold another fundraiser today at george cloon clooney's los angeles home. uc berkeley's provos stepped down. just yesterday he announced he's leaving his post to return to teaching in the psychology department. he didn't cite the controversy as his reason for leaving, instead saying he's making the change due to his wife's ongoing health issues. cal will name the next soon. a well known concorde chiropractor is being accused of sexually assaulting one of his patients. steven moon was arrested outside his office.

vanished from it his school. he's back home safely this morning after a frantic search for the child who has autism. he was reunited with his family at a police station 40 miles away and as cheryl hurd shows us a good samaritan spotted the boy in a potentially dangerous situation. >> i looked over and saw this kid in the freeway. he's walking towards the freeway. >> reporter: alice had no time to think. >> i told him to stop. don't move. >> reporter: she looked into the eyes of zachary smith wondering where he came from. >> he said he got here by himself. i asked why he came u by himself. does hi parents know he was here. >> reporter: he had no idea his parents were 40 miles away at holbrook elementary school frantic to find their son. his teachers reported him missing around noon. >> he got out behind the back gate and manage d to get away.

it's 7:14. we're taking a live look at downtown san jose. palm trees and clear skies on a sunny saturday morning ahead of a very warm weekend. a uc berkeley student and a refugee says he's the victim of discrimination by a major airline. he claims he was removed from a flight from l.a. to oakland because he was speaking arabic. >> reporter: his plan was simple. he was set to fly from l.a. to oakland, then go to class. instead, the senior was kicked off a southwest airlines flight after speaking arabic during a phone call with his uncle. >> at the end of my call, i said i will call you. call me when you get home. >> reporter: turns out another

passenger thought she heard him say martyr in arabic, a word linked to jihad and terrorist it's. moments later he was removed from the plane and questioned by the fbi. >> he asked me e while he was there. do you have a knife that you might want to cut me? i cannot. this is what islamophobia got this country into. >> reporter: now he only wants one thing. >> all i need is an apology saying we are sorry. >> southwest released a statement that reeds in part, to respect the privacy of those involved our policy is to not publicly share specifics of the event. we wouldn't remove passengers from flights without a

the loop surrounding san francisco's twin peaks. they are expected to vote next week. cars would be banned from the east side and pedestrians and bicycles wouldn't be allowed on the west side. so to clarify, here's a picture that they came up with. the green side shows where people would be able to walk and bike and take in that commanding view of downtown san francisco and the bay bridge. driving for ridesharing services is about to get more expensive for drivers. the city is now requiring uber and lyft drivers to get a business license, which would cost $91 a year. the new rule applies to 37,000 drivers. uber released a statement saying, uber partners with drivers and as independent contractors they are responsible for following appropriate local requirements. lyft, however, was more focused on concerns about putting driver's names in a public database saying people who are choosing to drive with lyft to

festival that happens today and tomorrow. we'll be down there for the parade that starts atd 1:00. today at 12:30, the arena will be rocking. warriors and rockets, 7 3 degrees. we have high u pressure that's sitting right on top of us. it's driving our offshore winds. what wh that happens, it's going to be warm. so we'll be looking at 70s across the peninsula. 80s across parts of the trivalley and north bay. then look at what happens tomorrow. the 80s slide into the south. i bay. for monday, we're talking widespread 80s for the east bay and trivalley and places like santa cruz made it to 80 degrees by monday. even san francisco we may get close to that on monday. it's going to be hot at least

heating up this weekend. turning hot as we head towards monday. tuesday things start to change. you'll notice in the seven-day forecast in the bottom of your screen, look at what happens on wednesday. more rain starts to show up. by thursday we could be tracking showers and maybe even a few thunderstorms across the bay area. this would be thursday night into friday morning. fast moving system is going to drop our temperatures and drop some rain and some snow. this is what's headed our way wednesday night if you're trying to make plans. keep in mind not going to be a huge storm system, but could see 2 to 4 inches of new snow thursday night into friday morning of the upcoming week. in the meantime, lots of heat. we're talking summertime temperatures. our average high is still right near 70 degrees. in the 60s for san francisco. we're well above that at least the next couple days. 80 today for san jose. 82 for the east bay valleys and tomorrow that's really when

limited resources. >> if the police department is not being budgeted enough then. >> they arrested four minors for that crime. a follow up now there's new information on the relationship between the now fired cal assistant basketball coach and a reporter who has accused him of harassment. we've obtained more than 900 text messages that his attorney submitted to university officials. the former cal coach still is trying to clear his name. >> you get to see 900 texts. >> reporter: there are hundreds of texts between former basketball coach and a sports reporter who claimed he sexually harassed her over a five-month

period. >> what is the point now to continue with this if it's clear he will not be going back to cal? >> this controversy that's followed him to nevada. >> reporter: his attorney says it was a flirtatious relationship and cites texts like this as evidence. he texts, you never asked to come over. nothing like that. the unnamed reporter responds to come over where? i have never been invited. her client was a scapegoat saying the university rushed to fire him because of growing criticism over how they handled other sexual harassment allegations on campus. >> it came at a time when the dean of the law school was that whole process was being criticize ued. it came after the astronomy professor scandal.

>> the president of the university of nevada released a statement saying he supports the decision to hire huffnagel. berkeley has no comment because the investigation is complete and he is no longer a coach there. now to a high speed police chase in the east bay end iing a dramatic arrest that started just before 8:00 last night when chp tried to stop the driver of a red mercedes with no plates. that's when the driver gunned it and triggered a chase that spanned three freeways in several city streets and crashed into a bart construction site in pittsburgh. a spike strip forced the driver to crash and the chp was able to arrest him after a brief foot chase. now to the developing story in japan where yet another earthquake hit this morning. this time a magnitude 4.6. this comes after a massive 7.3 quake killed 15 people yesterday. roughly 24 hours before that, a

transform our energy system and combat climate change, he will go down in history. >> sanders says the meeting was an honor and a highlight of his trip and an opportunity he could not pass up. in connecticut another clash supporters and opponents of donald trump. a republican presidential front runner was in hartford when protesters started yelling with roughly 1,000 supporters. no word on any injuries nor arrests. now to an exciting baseball game that came to a halt when a fan was hit by u a foul ball. it happened last night in tampa, florida, at a game between the rays and white sox. a woman sitting in the second row had to be taken to the hospital. the ball went through a gap in the protective netting that was added to all ballpark this is past season. she was conscious and talking when she was taken to the

>> steve kerr has mixed emotions. he koechd his warriors to a record 73 wednesday night. so when asked how he celebrated. >> i drank a beer. that was about it. i went home and went to bed. >> reporter: a sign the playoffs are right around the corner and maybe more than any other year the chase for 73 prepared them for another title run. >> really all year we got everybody's best shots. whether the atmosphere reflected it or not on the court, it felt like playoff intensity. we feel confident we're ready for the moment. >> the warriors beat the rockets but houston struggled just to get into the playoffs. >> they did that. they have a lot of talent and fire power. they have same approach to the game style as last year.

kira/cu much more ahead on today in the welcome back on this saturday. we start you off with your hour by hour forecast. what you're going to find is lots of sunshine across the bay. we'll get close to 80 degrees.

temperatures will fall back to 78. so overall it's going to be a nice warm day across the bay area. and temperatures are starting off nice and mind. even in san francisco at 54 widespread 70s and 80s. we'll get back to the low 80s today. if you're headed to the warriors and rockets today around 12:30, 73 degrees. winds will be generally light out of the northeast at 5 to 15. it doesn't matter. it's inside. if you're headed that way, just a forecast as you get into the stadium. but if you're going anywhere across the bay area today the thing to note it's all about the heat. we're not to e see very gusty winds. that's going to leave 70s at the peninsula and coastline. 80s widespread for the trivalley and north bay. look what happens tomorrow. those 80s start to slide into

the south bay. then by monday, widespread 80s across the entire bay area with the exception of the immediate coast. even places like san francisco, half-moon bay, santa cruz will still be in the upper 70s close to 80 degrees. while starting off the workweek toasty, we have changes this upcoming week. today, tomorrow and monday, no big changes. it's going to be about the heat. tuesday and wednesday, temperatures come down just a little bit. the bottom of your screen, by thursday there's a chance of rain. let me show you that futurecast. we'll see a cold front slide to the north. so by friday we'll be wrapping up this rain and not talking about huge amounts o of rainfall. quarter inch at most. half an inch for the north bay. you'll notice the sierra is expected to pick up 2 to 4 inches of new snow. this would come thursday into friday. we have some time between until we do see this next storm system

(adlib) welcome back at 7:50. a live look for you as the sunshines over downtown san jose. warm temperatures today and even had thor tomorrow. enjoy the weekend. happening now, a fuel leak in the east bay. alameda county fire department says the intersection of newark will be closed for the next three hours. this is due to a hazmat incident. a tanker truck hit a hydrant spilling gas into the road.

it caused water to shoot up 80 feet. you can see here crews still are responding to the scene. now to a story you'll see only on nbc bay area u. a cancer cluster among firefighters based at san francisco airport has long had crews there on edge. but when the airport moved to relocate a fire house next to a busy runway, firefighters sounded the alarm about toxic jet exhaust fumes. foof firefighters remain skeptical of the plan promised to keep the air clean at the new station. >> reporter: san francisco firefighters fear the air quality inside that staying once it's complete could be a threat to their health. planes travel next to the station as they take off. airport officials say that there's no cause for alarm. our investigation shows that solving this problem will not be easy. last night another young san francisco firefighter succumb to cancer. she was just 49.

it was one more reminder that city fire crews are at greater risk from the deadly disease. >> the fire department has one of the highest rates of cancer throughout the nation. >> reporter: one of the fire department's recognized cancer hot spots is at the airport. already a dangerous, noisy place to work. retired fire captain tony stefani, a survivor of a rare form of cancer who started the cancer foundation, said a city wide u survey identified the airport as a particular concern. >> the airport had 12 active cases amongst members and some retired members, which was at that time was one of the highest levels of any of the station in san francisco. >> reporter: one of the suspected culprits at the airport is the chemical ben sooen. it's in jet exhaust and from the exhaust of cars and trucks that run along the nearby 101

freeway. another cancer-causing agent is formaldehyde. both have been found in elevateds inside fire station number 3 near the freeway. so when crews learned last year about a plan to relocate station number 3 closer to where the planes take off, they launched a petition drive and demanded answers. >> it was the activism of the firefighters here at the airport that got the union and cancer foundation and administration looking so closely into this. it was a grass roots movement that got the scrutiny going, which might not have been happening at this level if they hadn't done that. they really did themselves a service by calling everybody's attention to the issue. >> today seeking to ease the minds of firefighters, airport and fire officials spent two hours detailing the new design for ventilation. it's supposed to scrub out particulates. the system will rely on pressure to literally block bad air from
