silly temperatures same as we had yesterday. it's 43 in the north bay. a need for the heavier jacket again. 48 in the peninsula. south bay and san francisco will be a touch warmer later with a high of 72 and sunshine in the south bay. san francisco up to 64. more pleasant weather in the forecast today, but changes tomorrow. i'll detail that in a few minutes. let's head over to mike tracking issues for the peninsula. >> we are going to take you here, overall speeds looking good. 280, i want to talk about this. northbound 280 edgewood road. we just got live pictures from the scene. this big rig is over there. we have fire crews over there. and that rig on the right. that was on fire. smolders making sure the fire is out. crews are blocking two right lane

lanes and we are looking at the two left lanes open right now. we'll track this. it may be a couple of hours till they can clear this. going up the peninsula right there toward highway 92. >> thanks very much. we begin now with a developing story. the search is on for this man. 19-year-old christian cruz who is tied to a deadly shooting in south san francisco. police are calling him a person of interest. officers say a fight broke out at orange memorial park yesterday afternoon. two men were shot, one died in the hospital and the other is recovering. he is considered armed and dangerous. call 911. a woman accused of striking and shaking a 10-month-old baby in danville will face a judge today. the nammy camera caught the 23-year-old abusing the child at

the family's home and was arrested monday. she worked for the family a few months. the parents installed the nanly cam inside the home, witnessed the abuse and called detectives. the child's condition was not released. nearly one year after a deadly balcony collapse in berkeley, state law makers taking steps to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. senator hill went after the construction company that built the berkeley building. >> the firm that constructed the apartment complex had a history of questionable work and in previous years paid out $26.5 million in construction defect settlements. >> a state senate committee could consider reforms to the contractor state license board which is the state's construction watch dog group. law makers say the agency does not have enough authority to investigate and prosecute

building contracts. new details this morning in the popular south bay restaurant double d's that went up in flames yesterday morning. investigators say cleaning supplies, paper towels and electrical equipment likely caught fire after being stored in the water heater closet. a lot of memorabilia on the wall was saved but the fire caused nearly $2 million in damage. golden state warriors aren't going to play until tomorrow. steph curry is not going to be suiting up for that game. he's out at least two weeks with a sprained knee. yesterday he tweeted, "thanks for all the prayers and messages and added, all things considered, i'm going to be all right." curry got hurt in sunday's game four. it pains you to see it. mri revealing a grade one mcl sprain.

light through that area. over here on the peninsula, highway 1 is just south of the tunnel. there is a crash and investigation there. that will continue for maybe two hours possibly. that's cutting off folks from half moon bay. keep that in mind, go north to get around. if you're half moon bay, that will be an issue at least until the next couple of hours and the investigation clears. the rest of the bay calmer. back to you. up next, a san francisco building going up in flames again. >> the building in the mission was considered uninhabitable. some san francisco law makers will protect fire victims.

another fire at an are-deteriorating san francisco building. this fire broke out last night shortly before 9:00. this is the third fire on mission and 22nd street. it was nearly destroyed more than a year ago when the fire killed one person. a second fire broke out in march. investigators are looking into the cause of last night's blaze. >> today in front of the burned-out building, a couple of san francisco leaders will call for protection for tenants hit by fire. >> they will include fire safety legislation. several community groups are

backing that measure. the gruesome discovery of a woman's body in a storage unit in colorado has a bay area tie. james wu of san francisco killed julie tureson in colorado. he left her body in the car at her storage unit. he was trying to fly out of the country. colorado investigators are asking people in san francisco who know that suspect to contact them. there is a new effort to beef up police and fire services in san jose. they are helping to launch measure b, a quarter cent sales tax to fund the department. opponents say they should cut unnecessary spending and not create new taxes. the tax would last for 15 years. san jose city hall famous

like okay. definitely need to head back in and get warmer jacket. it's 48 degrees in san francisco in the south bay. north bay at 44. let's drop in on the east bay and get a closer look. 44 in dublin. also in livermore. all our weather underground cites reporting temperatures from 42 up to 48. as we break it down for palo alto, we'll see temperatures slowly warming up today. a mix of sun and clouds, at least in the peninsula to start 61. as we go through this afternoon reaching into the mid to upper 60s. the giants game tonight will be nice. first pitch at 62. not as windy as it was yesterday. that will make you feel better. our temperatures only a couple degrees warmer by the end of the game at 58. futurecast shows we'll have changes in the next 24 hours. starts out with clouds tonight through tomorrow. scattered showers from morning to early afternoon.

at any point we could see rain dropping from the morning commute until right before the evening commute. that's the best time frame for that rain to move through. after that passes, we'll see temperatures bound to get back up to the low to mid 70s. peninsula 70 on thursday and san francisco staying in the 60s. rain for all of our microclimates on wednesday. on thursday, looking much better. that holds into the weekend. our highs reaching into the 70s and 80s, continuing to warm up. 85 in the east bay on sunday. definitely some plans to get outside, enjoy the warmer weather and some of those 80s for inland spots, feeling like summer out there with mostly sunny skies. kind of a nice little break after such a cool start to the work week. let's check in with mike with an update on that crash. >> overall, you want to let folks know overall the commute is looking good. we have two crashes on the peninsula. both are a big deal for locals

in the area. we are talking highway one. you know where devil's slide is? that's cut off from highway 1. pacifica going north. if you're south you go to half moon bay and take 92 to 280. that's where the crash is over on the left side of the screen. this is northbound 280 edgewood between woodside and 92. we have two lanes open. we'll show you the process of trying to put out this fire. you notice this rig here and the cabin way up there. it looks like the driver was able to disconnect that cabin and get it a safe distance away. only this trailer. two right lanes blocked by this activity on 280. it is primary tuesday. five remaining candidates, two on the democratic side and three on the republican side

campaigning. >> there are five states voting and polls are open in many of those states. maryland, connecticut, rhode island, delaware and pennsylvania. all holding their primaries today. in total, the 172 delegates up for grabs, 463 for their democratic counterparts. pennsylvania is the big prize for both parties. hillary clinton and donald trump are polling ahead in those states. and nearly all the states. there are several key senate races on the ballot. >> this is a big week for bay area republicans. all three presidential candidates will be in burlingame for the republican party convention. donald trump will deliver the keynote address at the kick-off lunch friday. john kasich will speak friday night. ted cruz will speak saturday. with the republican nomination up for grabs, california is a critical state. security always a top priority at any campaign event.
