i didn't think that gave me license to real creative freedom or the ability to change it up completely. >> then, comic books long have been the domain of boys and young men. but the booming business of superheroes is now playing to a growing audience of girls and young women and hiring people who reflect that. >> we're telling more stories about women. we're telling more stories about minorities. that's really important. because then people start realizing that, oh, yes, superheroes are amazing but there's something in their experience that is very much something that i can connect to. >> plus, the invickive game. woundle mel tear men and women from across the globe brought together by prince harry to compete and to remind the world of the wars still ongoing. >> back in 2008 i got put out of afghanistan after seven weeks. i opened up to find three young british soldiers all in comas, wrapped in plastic, tubes coming out of their mouths, and i just

spent a little bit of time just sitting there looking at it all. so that was where it all started for me and i realized that i have to do something. >> jenna bush hager will have that story a bit later in the show. let's begin with the latest on the race for president with the picture a lot clearer than it was a week ago at this time. donald trump now the presumptive republican nominee. he was campaigning out west yesterday. last night he turned his fire on hillary clinton, once again launching a personal attack against his likely democratic opponent and her husband, the former president of the united states. >> she's married to a man who was the worst abuser of women in the history of politics. hillary was an enabler, and she treated these women horribly. just remember this. and some of those women were destroyed, not by him, but by the way that hillary clinton treated them after everything went down. >> holly jackson is covering the presidential campaign at the white house this morning. good to see you as always on a

sunday morning. people having flashbacks right now to the 1990s. is this what we have to look forward to over the next six months? personal attacks by donald trump going back to bill clinton's years in the white house? >> yeah, except in the '90s, remember, the trumps and clintons were at least friendlier, willie. this is a preview of what we can expect to see as we head into the fall with hillary clinton the likely democratic nominee, trump the presumptive republican nominee. you say this come together over the last 48 to 72 hours. becoming very clear that for donald trump attacks against bill clinton's impeachment scandal are not off limits. a couple of other ways he may go after hillary clinton, he talked about her stance on the second amendment and gun rights. that's an area where we're going to see him go after her more. all of this is coming to the as he has solidified a week in which it has become clear he's the guy on the republican side, his competitors dropping out, but the gop still bitterly divided over whether or not to support him. >> interesting wrinkle in this campaign over the last couple of days, hallie. you had senator elizabeth warren of massachusetts going on a

tweet storm against donald trump. she's been very critical of him. donald trump responding calling her goofy. is she now out front positioning herself perhaps to be a vice presidential candidate and a hatchet woman for hillary clinton? >> probably less likely that she would be considered on that vice presidential ticket. but certainly taking on that traditional role of the attacker. the hatchet person for hillary clinton. you saw donald trump go after her calling her goofy, coining this nickname. and warren tweeting right back, saying it's a lame nickname. she calls him weak. she slammed his dangerous vision for america in this series of tweet storms and donald trump has spent a significant portion of his rally last night talking about elisabeth warren, hitting her very hard. there are some especially in the democratic community on the more liberal side who want to see elizabeth warren elevated to a higher position. this is a way for her to take on trump directly. >> hallie jackson at the white house. thanks so much. it is an apocalyptic scene in canada this morning where a massive wild fire is still

raging. officials now say it could be months before firefighters can get it under control. houses are burning to the ground in just minutes. as the rapidly moving wild fire engulfs nearly 800 square miles. officials fear it could eventually reach saskatchewan which is some 500 miles away. miguel almaguer has been on the front lines in alberta all week. what are you seeing this morning? >> willie, good morning. the fire is really exploded insize and why not? there's the perfect recipe out here for the perfect storm. the conditions remain extremely gusty. during the day the temperatures are warm, and the humidity is low. that's really the triple threat that firefighters fear the most. this blaze is feeding on millions of dead trees out in this forested area, so every day we have watched it as it crowns in trees, as it explodes in size and races in multiple directions. some 1600 structures, mostly all homes, have been destroyed. that number is sure to skyrocket. if there is some good news here,

willie, the fire while still very, very aggressive, is moving away from homes at this hour. but firefighters warn us that could change at any minute. >> those pictures are just mind blowing. miguel, thank you so much. an incredible view this morning of nature's fury. this half mile wide tornado caught on camera as it barreled through rural eastern colorado. five people suffered minor injuries. the storm caused some damage as you can see. overturning trees and vehicles along the way. the notorious drug lord joaquin "el chapo" guzman has been moved to a new prison this morning, and it's just across the border from el paso, texas. mexican officials moved el chapo on saturday because of upgrades being done to the prison near mexico city. hopefully this time -- a u.s. government official says the move does not mean el chapo will be extradited to the states any time soon. there's a single winner just one this morning of the $429 million powerball drawn last night. the winner is in new jersey. mercer county, to be specific.

if you're looking at your ticket, the lucky numbers 5, 25, 26, 44, and 66, the powerball number was 9. powerball jackpot now goes back to a measly 40 million bucks. we're in full graduation season this weekend. president obama the commencement speaker at howard university on saturday where he urged the students to use their passions to take action instead of sitting by and waiting for things to change. the president also joked about the state of the country graduates are entering. >> america is by almost every measure better than it was when i graduated from college. it also happens to be better off than when i took office but that's a longer story. >> nyquist your winner at the kentucky derby. went in as a 2-1 favorite and delivered. with jockey mario gutierrez aboard. nyquist holding off exaggerator by 1 1/4 lengths. the second leg of the triple crown completed last year by

dependent on how he acts onstage at rallies, and how he is able to talk to the folks behind the scenes or make inroads in washington, extend an olive branch. i don't think he's done a lot to do that. i think over the weekend if you were watching any of his rallies he just went on trashing the establishment. >> wesley, the lesson i think he's taken away from the last year is he can do things his way. he doesn't have to be conventional and reach out to paul ryan or any of these other people and presidents have in the past. >> no. he can do whatever he wants. there are no apparent repercussions for anything he does. i mean the taco bowl alone, which i guess we've been talking about -- >> yes, we've got the picture. go ahead. >> i'm sorry -- >> i can't believe it. we've been talking about a taco bowl. >> i mean, whatever -- i mean it's -- i mean the sort of taco bell branded taco bowl or whatever. but it's -- it's -- it's -- >> i think it's amazing about him. it's like -- it's like in the water gun fight and he brought a paintball gun for the entire

thing. and it's by his own rules. i wonder if having a bush 41 and 43 and the establishment say we don't want to endorse you, i think his supporters don't care -- >> it makes them -- >> it's better for him in many ways. >> somebody asked me what the high point of donald trump's campaign was this week and what the low point was. low point is the taco bowl. the high point is coming out and telling speaker ryan that he doesn't endorse his agenda. >> right. >> and i think that he did that on the night he was in west virginia and i think that it, it, it is an example of how he's rallying behind the voter, instead of rallying behind the politician. and they take that and they like that he's fighting back and it works for him. it's great fuel. >> the issue is, i mean he's got the voters behind him but he's got an electoral map that's not friendly number one and number two hillary clinton's going to run a billion dollar campaign and she has all of the benefit of hindsight. you know, she can monday morning quarterback everything that the republicans did wrong, and he's got to get fund-raisers on his side. he's got to get money on his

side. and they have to come out with a cohesive plan to go up against her. >> but as you've watched him, as you reported on him, does he have the discipline to today that? >> i don't think so. >> it is worth pointing out, two nominees, bob dole endorsed donald trump. and john mccain said, yeah, okay, i guess i'll support the guy. so there is some -- there is some falling in line. >> that's so -- >> i can't believe he can do that. when he called john mccain not a war hero. >> one president who is not falling in line, president obama. here's what he had to say at his press conference on friday. >> this is not a reality show. this is a contest for the presidency of the united states. >> okay, since it's derby weekend, let's put the odds at donald trump becoming the next president of the united states. what do you think? >> oh, i can't -- >> you don't have to set -- >> i haven't had enough coffee to even get to that.

>> i, i, i'm supposed to say like 1,000 to 1 or something. i don't know. i honestly don't. >> you know what's so interesting about this? this question makes people stammer. makes reporters stammer. not really sure -- >> -- past anybody -- >> if we lose anything this political season predictions are a bad idea. and i think that -- you can ask me i think it's 50/50. >> coin toss. >> yep, yep, yep. >> today's mother's day as everyone here shows. cheryl sandberg the coo of facebook, she lost her husband about a year ago this time. she posted something on facebook. she's become a single mother. she frames it by saying look, i know i have resources other people don't. but i'm realizing what it means to be a single mom. she writes in part the united states is the only developed economy in the world that does not provide paid maternity leave. almost a third of working mothers don't have access to any kind of paid leave to care for themselves or their families if someone gets sick. instead of providing support we all too often leave the families who are struggling the most to dpend for themselves.

the odds are stacked against single mothers in this country. yet so many give everything they have and go on to raise incredible children. the u.s. family and medical leave act protects a parent's job for up to twelve weeks, but unpaid. we're the only civilized country, allison, in the world that doesn't provide proper maternity leave. >> there's so much to appreciate about this facebook post. in lean in she talks about men getting in positions of power being able to make significant change. that book starts with sheryl sandberg, hugely pregnant. she has to park all the way across the parking lot and said we need parking for pregnant women, and the guys say, okay. but nobody ever acts. i appreciate her position. i also sort of appreciate that she is acknowledging sort of the -- sort of for the first time she got a lot of heat in that back about you're sheryl sandberg, the privilege of it. and now she always has empathy as a single mom and using that position to highlight the issues of poverty, associated with not having paid leave. >> we are in the company wesley

we're back to run through the highs and lows of the week. a mother's day tribute from jetblue. the airline that made it possible for all of us to watch the real housewives together at 30,000 feet. they released a video showing what happened where they offered a 25% discount on a future flight or every baby that cried. so the fourth crying baby means a free round trip flight for everybody. and the plane goes wild when number four hits. there you go. the message, give all those moms traveling with kids a break.

an east bay man is behind bars accused of crashing his delivery truck into a chp officer. it happened yesterday morning while the officer was working to clear the scene of a hit-and-run in sacramento. he's in the hospital with major injuries. gregory ramirez of san leandro is a fedex driver. he faces serious charges including driving under the influence. this is the third time in two months that a highway patrol officer in sacramento area has been hit while investigating a crash. >> these crashes are so preventible, we want to see when you see a light you need to slow down and move over a lane. >> the company is fully cooperating with authorities during this investigation. the hunger strike in san francisco is over but the fight continues after refusing to eat for more than two weeks a group of protesters known as the frisco five ended up in the

what was it about netflix? >> i never had the desire to go and walk in somebody else's shoes to fill out for a show that has already been fill bid somebody. that doesn't give me creative freedom or the ability to change it up completely. there are no commercials, advertisers. all the prohibitive aspects of being on network television don't really apply to netflix. i didn't want that kind of parenting. >> was there anything about those jobs that was tempting to you, control, money or something else? >> no. >> that a network would give you? >> no, no. the money can't be an issue. you can't make decisions based on money. it depends really on how much money you need to feel good about yourself. i'm doing okay. >> got a lot of landscaping back here. >> costs a lot of money. and that's why my dogs both work. i still don't know my way around. i'll just try to knock and see what's behind door number one. oh, look. >> they made it ease. >> i they labeled it.
