it left england last month for a 34-day cruise. test results were positive for norovirus. symptoms include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. the ship is being cleaned right now. it's 6:14. a big week for spacex. the company's unmanned space capsule will be headed back to earth. it is currently at the international space station. it's been there about a month. the capsule is going to bring back cargo during its expected splashdown thursday. the return to earth will only take six hours. it could be delayed if the weather doesn't cooperate. a $3 billion town center in cupertino could be in the works. it would turn the shopping mall into the hills of valco. it has over 3,500 signatures.

tracking a crash in the tri-valley and on the peninsula. >> two areas i'm finding major slowing. areas like oakland, typical pattern there past the coliseum. map will show you nothing unusual about most of our commutes. we'll zoom in here and watch this crash south 680 around highway 84 off ramp. two lanes were blocked by an overturned vehicle. that is a huge commute spot. you can cut through highway 84. peninsula southbound 101 from 380 toward that offramp there by sfo. a crash reported. not a lot of detail but we see that unusual slowing. golden gate bridge, no problem coming in two or from the north bay. >> thank you very much. all new this morning, initiating contact with a police car. one man under arrest right now

after a chase police say started when that suspect rammed a patrol car. >> it started after midnight in fremont where police say officers stopped a vehicle. they say the driver took off and rammed the cruiser. after a chase, the suspect got out of the car and ran. officers arrested him. luckily, no one was injured. >> happening today, we could learn if there is enough evidence for the two san jose brothers accused of killing their parents to stand trial. >> legal experts say this is unusually early for a preliminary case in a crime of this magnitude. >> it is very fast, but it is certainly the right of the defendant to waive that right to speedy trial. that's what the attorney for the younger brother says is happening today. if this preliminary hearing goes forward, we could find out what the evidence is against the brothers. what we know is the 22-year-old

it's a fiery debate and showdown in the tarheel state. the justice department is in the process of putting pressure on north carolina leaders following its controversial law. >> the law limits protections of lesbians, gays and trans genders and bisexual people. tracie potts is live in washington, d.c. the justice department is warning the state to back down orioles. >> exactly. today is the deadline for the state to respond. they will respond but doesn't look like they are backing down. this law commonly known as the bathroom law because it requires people to use the cqthroom of their sex at birth, which many argue is discriminatory against transgender individuals. they say it violates the civil rights act, employment act, and they want at least to be ashired north carolina will not enforce this law as it looks like the legislature won't roll it back which looks like they won't.

i'll get to all of that in less than ten minutes. mike is tracking three crashes blocking lanes. >> we'll take you out there. the bay bridge places like this predictable pattern. we zoom out. most folks in the south bay and peninsula, there is one part we'll watch. this is out of the altamont pass. we have a crash blocking three lanes. a number of vehicles involved. that does hold traffic out of the altamont. south of the dublin interchange is the other crash. south 680 around the highway off ramp there. you have a crash blocking two lanes. crews working quickly to change that situation. no good alternate unless you move over to 880.

the company says he was involved in an irregular business deal with a lending club investor selling loans to that investor without all the paperwork. it is nothing that appears to be rising to the level of crime but not the transparent business dealings lending club would like to have. if the name sounds familiar, the company's boat is pretty famous. he is a world famous seller and winner of the race and the sailboat is on san francisco bay. shares in lending club plunged on this morning's news. down 25%. markets coming off a down week and lousy for some time now. another shocker from donald trump. now he says he thinks the rich will see their taxes go up if he were to be president.

here are the top or 6:58. welcome back. before you head out the door, here is a look at the top stories on "today in the bay." >> stephanie chuang joins us live from san francisco city hall. supporters of the frisco 5 are calling for a citywide strike today. >> good morning. they want san franciscans to stay home from work, keep kids out of school, boycott restaurants and corporate businesses and come here to city hall for this general strike. protesters have been demanding mayor ed lee fire police chief suhr in the wake of police shootings and homophobic texts among officers. friday night they arrested 30 people.

now these protesters want not just the chief gone but mayor ed lee gone. the cisco five ended their 17-day hunger strike saturday night but are still in the hospital regaining their health. this is supposed to be a peaceful protest from 8:00 this morning to 8:00 at night. a judge could decide when two san jose brothers accused of killing their parents could stand trial. attorneys said they are ready for the preliminary hearing to start today. investigators say the brothers shot and killed their parents inside their evergreen home two weeks ago. we've been watching the planet mercury rise and we'll see the mercury rising on our thermometers. >> today will be nice. morning clouds and afternoon sunshine. >> what about that morning commute? >> sunol is the remainder of the three crashes we've been covering.
