their conditions. all lanes were closed several hours but are now all open. >> a man and his dog both killed in a house fire in concord last night. a woman was able to get out alive but suffered minor injuries. the home is on tanninger circle. a car and garage of the whole completely engulfed in flames. the man later died at the hospital. it's not near what sparked that fire. the sierra lamar murder case is moving forward. it's not clear if a trial date will start today. she disappeared four years ago on her way to school. her body has not been found. dna evidence does link garcia

f torres to the crime. david wolf smith is owner and trainer at wolfpack trainers. five female clients accuse him of sexual assault and he mays is up to 40 years in prison if convicted. we know the name of the man san jose police officers say they shot while allegedly he attacked his mother with an axe. the suspect has been identified as 26-year-old. he attacked his 62-year-old mother wednesday morning. they opened fire because they were worried he would kill his mother. the son suffers from mental illness. what a show at golden gate bridge. two hump back whales showed up.

it shows two wind surfers going along there by the whales. maybe too close to the action. a local whale watching businesses are used to navigating near the mammals b know to keep a safe distance. >> they tell us to not approach them at a quick rate of speed. we can run parallel with them. if they change course a lot then that means we are bothering them. >> experts are reminding everyone you can be fined for getting within 100 yards of a humpback whale or altering its cost. the fine can run as high as $10,000. now whales in the water here but sharks on the ice.

caltrans is getting the green light to fix the flooding at the base of the panel. they approved a plan to remove the defective grout and install a new water seal. all of that will cost more than

$10 million. the board approved a separate $1 million plan to protect the tower from future corrosion. 4:40. it has been hailed by some as bond measure to help solve our drought. a $7.5 million water bond to pay for new projects so california is better prepared for a drought. an nbc bay area investigation found some questionable products buried in the fine print. some projects do not hikely benefit the state at all. >> i would rather see in the future more of the state bond money going to things that are very hard to fund locally. and that means less emphasis on funds going to water supply and waste water agencies and more emphasis on the kinds of things they don't fund with the rate

by afternoon, we'll rise into the upper 60s there. overall, a very nice day. our futurecast shows we'll start to see clouds rolling back to the coast and moving back in tonight. there may be spotty showers in the forecast early tomorrow morning. especially for the north bay. it will be hit or miss. sprinkles, but that should not ruin your plans to get outside by the afternoon it's gone and then the clouds moving back in sunday morning. as we look ahead to that weekend forecast, highs reaching 68. east bay 68. low 70s. into the north bay tomorrow up to 68 there. not much of a change in those temperatures from saturday to sunday. generally upper 60s to low 70s. just slightly cooler than average in a few spots for this time of year. a pleasant weekend. over to week to get a look at what's happening. >> look over here. this live look.

a bay area piece of american history is back where it belongs. an alert viewer saw our report. an east bay man saw our story about a world war i camera stolen yesterday. he just purchased the cannon from an undisclosed seller believing the deal was legitimate. our cameras were there when police returned the cannon yesterday. police are looking for the person or persons who stole it.

mcdonald's introduced gilroy garlic fries, now they are testing fresh beef in the dallas area. >> you're like, what was i eating? 14 locations serving fresh beef. we were eating the frozen ones, if you do eat there. people like it. mcdonald's say they will roll it out nationwide. fresh beef. mcdonald's is trying to revamp itself to compete with rivals like shake shack and in and out. that's what we know here which serves fresh beef. i've never been to a shake shack. mcdonald's is still sold out of the gilroy garlic fries. i guess it's the sauce they are out of. i'm not a big burger person. i never had a big mac in my

five hours ago. police on the scene here. what we know about the danger to the public. a fire rips through an east bay home overnight killing a man and his dog. the investigation now under way to find out what sparked the deadly flames. pretty stunning video taking social media by storm as hump back whales make a rare visit underneath the golden gate bridge. the reason the focus is turning to kite boarders getting too close for comfort.
